Kay Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 (edited) Physical Profile •General Overview• Hotaru is small, even for a sixteen year old girl, and seems more fragile than she is. She's a wiry little sprite of a ninja who is often seen as weak and needing protection simply because of her size and the ability to downplay herself. She's got an aura of helplessness around her that she can put on at will, having grown up with three older brothers and one younger brother, all of whom outweigh her by a good hundred pounds and tower over her by a good foot and a half. She stands at 4'6 with shoes on and barely weighs a full 110lbs, all of it muscle. If she's lucky (and soaked through to the bone, dripping wet) she can pull off a weight of 115-120, mostly because of her long and thick hair. •Eyes• Hota's eyes are the color of bottled honey, a deep gold with hints of a darker color, edging towards black. They gleam with attitude and promise of at best mischief and at worst mayhem, and there's a harder edge to her gaze, as if even her jokes have a hint of meanness to them. Her golden gaze can flicker depending on the way the sun hits her, ranging from a well-polished amber stone to a night-time lightning storm, almost black with flashes of gold. Despite her otherwise neutral expression, her eyes will often flash with every emotion she feels, grudgingly giving lie to her ability to wipe all emotions from her face. When she's pulling off her helpless act, Hota will almost always hide her eyes, lest they give away her plot with a crafty gleam indicating that she's not as helpless as she may seem. •Hair• Hotaru's hair is a silvery green with black highlights, making her appear exotic and somewhat otherworldly. She holds it back in a rigid ponytail with bangs falling over her face. Generally, she keeps her bangs tucked back over one ear, though they've been known to escape and cover one or both of her eyes completely, hiding her expressive orbs from the world. Even held in a ponytail, Hota's hair falls to her waist thick and straight, sometimes appearing to be a waterfall of green when she wears it down and it pools around her. Hota uses her long hair - most especially her bangs - to hide her expressive eyes when she's trying to pull off a deception that her eyes would otherwise give away as such. •Clothing• Hotaru is fairly flexible about her clothing, and will wear whatever is at hand that the situation demands she wear, from a formal dress to heavy mountain winter-wear. She most prefers semi-tight Hakama-Shita in blues and blacks, wearing bandages wrapped from mid-shin down to hold the Hakama-Shita closed and prevent anything from nudging under. She wears tight black boots over the bandaging, so that it doesn't show unless she's chosen to wear other shoes for the day. She wears bandaging from her elbow down, for no other reason than that it provides some protection to her arms. Her hands are covered in steel-plated fingerless gloves, giving her the appearance of a Taijutsu user, even though Taijutsu isn't her first choice of weapon in a fight. Hotaru wears a tight veil over her nose and mouth during missions and official business, leaving only her strange golden eyes showing to those she encounters. Kay Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 (edited) Mental Profile •Personality• Hotaru is an abrasive and suspicious young woman who has an agressive streak that sometimes gets in the way of her better judgment. She's silent and observant for the most part, and tends to let those around her do all of the talking while she listens. There's a deep intelligence in her eyes and when she speaks she does so carefully, thinking through everything she says before it leaves her mouth. From time to time, when caught off guard, she will speak without thinking and what she says in those cases is often considered bizzare and abstract with little surface meaning. Having grown up with four brothers, Hota tends to take either the immediate lead or fade into the background depending on those around her and the situation. She will often take the lead when others are discussing the best course of action or trying to decide what to do, and will bull through whether it's the right choice or not. Their father was standing in the living room staring out the window with a stony face. Tears streamed down the face of the youngest boy, but the oldest held his father's stoic expression, belied only by his white knuckles as he gripped his toy katana. Hours passed. The screaming stopped. And after long moments of deadly silence, a wail rose above the white static of silence. The boys jumped to their feet, running to their parents' bedroom...a place into which they were only allowed upon invitation. A few more moments passed before their father opened the door and granted them entry. Their mother sat in the bed, a smile wreathing her face, flushed and pale in paradox and tandem. In her arms was a sleeping infant. She looked from the child and her eyes took in her three boys, ages 6, 4, and 2. "Meet your sister, boys." She said softly. "Meet your little lightning bug of a sister...your little Hotaru." "Hotaru..." The oldest boy, Kaminari, smiled as he looked at his little sister, touching her hand with his soft fingertips. "Hotaru! Come down! Father will be angry if you break your arm again!" Kaminari shouted, looking up the rocky cliff face at his 5 year old little sister. She giggled at him and came sliding down the sandstone in a way that was sure to make their mother shake her head and deliberately not ask why the hind end of her daughter's clothes were ripped out again. "Nari, you're so boring now that you turned Leven!" Hota informed her eldest brother firmly as she came down to where her three older brothers and her younger brother were playing in the warm red dirt at the bottom of the cliff. "We're not supposed to climb the cliffs, Hota." Kaminari told her firmly. She smiled disarmingly at him and sat down beside their youngest sibling, Ishi. Ishi, age 3, looked up at his older sister and smiled, handing her a stick to play with. "Thank you, Ishi!" Hotaru said, drawing in the sand. She looked up after a time and frowned. Standing up, she ran to the edge of the trail and looked down off of the mountain they were standing on, the mountain that rose above Kumo. Her brow furrowed, and she turned. "Nari!" Kaminari moved to her side and looked down, laying his hand on her shoulder to stop her from moving forward, down the mountain towards their village. "What is it, Nari?" Hota asked as her second and third eldest brothers moved up on either side of them. "It's war." Kaminari said softly. Eleven year old Hotaru moved out of the bedroom she'd been sharing with her mother since her father had gone to fight. Kaminari, the new man of the house, was standing silently in the kitchen reading a missive. As he looked up, his face was empty but his green-gold eyes said it all. Hotaru bit her lower lip as Fifteen-year-old Geiru and Thirteen-year-old Kosu took one look at their eldest brother and turned pale. Even nine-year-old Ishi did nothing more than look down, though Hotaru could see the tears he hadn't quite learned to control yet gathering in his lightning silver-gold eyes. "We'll tell Mother gently," Kaminari said. "She's been fragile ever since she lost the baby...I think..." "Nari!" Hota said quickly, but not soon enough. The kitchen went deadly silent as all five children looked at their mother, who was standing in the doorway. The smile that had been on their mother's face at the sight of her babies had frozen. Her face had drained of all color and gone deathly pale. As the five children watched, their mother fell to the floor. Without a word, her heart had given out. Nari gathered Hota into his arms and Geiru held Ishi while Kosu ran for the village medic. The Denikimi or 'Lightning Body' is the bloodline and heart of the Senuskai Clan. To the Senuskai, lightning is not just an element, it is in their blood, it is a part of their own mind and body. Their chakra is yellow, a mutation due to the lightning that flows through their body. The bloodline itself once activated, begins to surround the user flowing through, in, and out of the user. It engulfs the user in lightning, then works in harmony to increase the user's control and power over lightning. The lightning which passively circulates in the user's chakra system, becomes active. The lightning starts flowing through the body. The only visual sign of the bloodline is the white/yellow color of the pupil once the bloodline is activated. As lightning begins to circulate it increases the power of any lightning jutsu, but also it circulates the energy use. Using the remaining energy left from using a jutsus, the lightning circulates some of that energy and returns it back to the chakra system. There is nothing better than to taste new air, to see a new place, or better yet, guiding people through a place you have recently explored. Effect: Travel post requirements for this character are reduced by 500 words to a minimum of 100. Travel post requirements for any people traveling with you (so long as you role play leading them through the travel) are reduced by 200 words to a minimum of 100. Scout's Passage: - True Tactitian: May take any of the three 'Tactic' skills in any order or combination with a combined skill point subtraction of -4. Role play IS required to understand and utilize the tactics lessened, so as to explain learning it. RP Guide: Character should have a love for travel, be a capable communicator, and should -not- have any skills which conflict with exploring, having a strong grasp of east, west, north, and south, and capability of finding yourself geographically. Intelligence and persistence would be useful personality traits to scout characters. Cost: -1 Tactics; AMBUSH! Effects: If role played as ambushing your opponent, the owner of this skill may attack the opponent before the opponent is given a turn, regardless of speed. For every teammate this user has, the 'to hit' roll (After Accuracy and Evasion are accounted for), is given an extra 5% to hit, at least for this first attack. (Capped at 40% Increase to hit.) After this turn, the user is capable of moving 5% faster than they normally would (As in they are considered having 5% higher speed than they do.), and has both an increased evasion and an increased accuracy, of 5% per rank in this skill. Cost: -0 (Path of the Scout) Ranks: 1 / 4 Tactics; Off with the Head! Effect: At the beginning of any skirmish (Team Battle), the side opposing the owner of this skill must declare its 'leader' (Which must actually be its leader, in character. Staff can come down on them for trying to make their strongest PC the leader if that's not the actual leader role play wise.) For every hit on this aforementioned 'leader' by a shinobi with this skill, the members of the hit leader's unit excluding them self are considered 'low morale', and because of the concern for their leader, have a 5% higher chance to be hit by any attack sent their way, and a 10% higher chance to be hit by a trap jutsu. (Maximum of 40% higher chance to be hit by any attack sent their way, and 60% higher chance to be hit by a trap sent their way.) Bonuses to the unit of the user of this skill stay so long as the opposing unit's leader is still attacked, but unless the new attacker has this skill, the bonuses to not heighten. Points: 1 •Personal Techniques: Ninjutsu• Seunuskai Hotaru: Flicker Dance Type: Personal Ninjutsu [Lightning] Rank: Gennin Cost: 30 Damage: 30 Effect: N/A Description: Lightning dancing across the night sky in all its neon glory was the driving inspiration for this technique. The ninja shapes three hand seals. As they do, lightning begins to flicker around them and above them. Upon the shaping of the final seal, brighter lightning dances overhead in a random and misleading pattern before driving downwards into the target. Points: 2 •General Tecniques: Ninjutsu• Shockwave Type: Ninjutsu (Lightning) Rank: Gennin Cost: 60 Damage: 60 Effect: N/A Description: You do 3 handseals and you begin to hear an echo-like noise that sounds like it's rumbling horribly. The area around you then turns pure white for half of a second from the lightning rushing toward your opponent. It's a powerful jutsu that is normally taught to new genin of Kumo. Points: 3 Beginning (Akebono) Type: Ninjutsu (Cloud) Rank: Gennin Cost: 40 Damage: 20 Effect: +20 HP to user if this connects. Description: A lash of vapor swipes through the opponent, drawing at their very chakra and essence and lashing back to the user, revitalizing them. Points: 2 Ending (Musubi) Type: Ninjutsu (Cloud) Rank: Gennin Cost: 30 Damage: 50 Effect: User takes 15 damage when they use this technique. Description: A similar lash as Akebono, this one draws on the energy of the user to inflict more damage though. Points: 2 •Basic Academy Techniques• Bunshin no Jutsu (Clone Technique) Type: Genjutsu Rank: Academy Student Cost: 10 Genjutsu Description: Creates an illusionary replica of the user. It is unable to attack or interact with other objects, but can serve as a good distraction. Damage: None Effects: Adds +5 evasion and +5 accuracy for each clone. Once a clone is hit it is destroyed, and the bonuses with it. Henge no Jutsu (Transformation Technique) Type: Genjutsu Rank: Academy Student Cost: 5 Genjutsu Description: Wrap chakra around your body to change your appearance. You can still use the features of the thing you can become, e.g use the claws of a clawed animal, but not to the extent of if you were that thing. Damage: None Effects: Change your appearance. Kawarimi no Jutsu (Body Substitute Technique) Type: Ninjutsu Rank: Academy Student Cost: 10 Ninjutsu Description: A lifesaver, and a must-have technique. With this technique, the user is able to swap their body with a nearby object, usually a log, which will take the full force of any incoming blows for them, while they retreat to safe ground or search for an opening. You can only use this 3 times per battle. Damage: None Effects: Evade the next attack aimed at you. You are unable to attack the opponent the turn you use this.
