inspiration Posted July 7, 2010 Author Posted July 7, 2010 (edited) "Father, why do they hate us so much, what have we ever done to them?” "Nothing, nothing at all, Hitori.” ~A conversation between Hitori and Soudai. ~Appearance~ -Height: 5'6” -Weight: 146 lbs -Hair: Kohashi's hair is rarely seen, being hidden under the hood of a cloak. Only in the privacy of his family's home is it seen, so he cares little for how it is styled. A light slate color, the dusty locks fall to the right of his face, covering most of the right half of his head. On the left it is slightly shorter, coming to the bottom of the ear at its longest. Where his neck meets his head on the backside, Hitori sports a small, thin ponytail, running as far as the tops of his shoulder blades. -Eyes: If one were to look into Hitori's eyes, they would think they were looking at precious jewels. The bright emerald green that are his eyes seem to give off a shimmering glow that is unmistakingly, and uniquely his. Four darker green lines, stretching from the top, bottom, and both sides of the iris towards the pupil seem to make a crosshair effect within the emerald orbs. -Clothing: On a normal day, Hitori may be seen wearing a thick, light tan robe that reaches to his ankles. The robe itself has a hood and is able to be opened from the front. Hitori usually wears the hood up, covering his face as best he can in order to keep people from noticing his ‘Curse'. Upon his hands, he wears gloves of the same tone as the robe. Unlike the robe, however, the gloves are rather thin, giving him the ability to feel things normally. Upon his face, he wears a darker tan scarf. The scarf is pulled just above his nose, also to help conceal his ‘Curse'. He does not like the traditional shinobi shoe, but rather straw sandals. In order to have the comfort of his favorite footwear, and conceal the family ‘Curse', he wraps his feet and shins in bandages. His hitai-ate is in beanie form, and matches the color of the robes. However, he wears it sideways, with the metal on the left side. When in the Kohashi Estates, he removes his robe, gloves and scarf. Underneath, he wears a black shirt with fishnet sleeves. He dawns light tan shorts, with legs that extend just below his knees. -Physical Description: Like the rest of the Kohashi family, Hitori is very pale, an ivory white, to be exact. Sparkling, almost as if his skin was made from some kind of reflective mineral. He has a lean, muscular build. His limbs are slightly shorter than the normal person, but it is unnoticeable, and not a hindrance in any form. His figure is slightly feminine, giving him slightly less broad shoulders. Despite his feminine features, Hitori's facial structure is quite angular, with defined cheek bones and jaw line. The boy's lips are wide and thin, giving him a somewhat snake like appearance, however his face is rarely seen. The one thing that puts Hitori apart from his clansmen is the scar reaching up his throat. Stretching from his clavicle (collar bone) too his chin, this scar is the story of his child hood. Being left mute from the injury, he found it rather hard to communicate with others, but easier to think and reflect on his own actions. That, my brother, that is what the rest of humanity cannot understand.” ~Kohashi Eiyuu ~Persona~ Personality: Hitori is a mystery. Secluded from the rest of his peers due to the incident leaving his vocal cords useless, he spends his time in thought. He is somewhat of an artist, giving way to detailed pieces of art depicting everything from landscapes of rolling plains, to a beautiful mother holding a young child. Seeing as he has no friends because of his heritage and inability to speak, he takes great pride in his art work. On most days he can be found atop his family's home, painting oil pictures on taught canvases. The boy often finds painting a peaceful experience, giving him much time to reflect on the day. Hitori is also very protective of his art, making sure to sign, date, and copyrite everything. Even more protective of his family than his art, Hitori will quickly jump to the defense of any Kohashi member. He would gladly shed blood in order to protect their name. Many a time has he fought other children in the academy in order to protect the name of Kohashi. Everybody hates you, all of you!” ~Background~ Relationships: -Family: -Parent(s): Kohashi Soudai: Soudai is the father of Hitori. He is slightly protective of Hitori, always being one of the first ones to jump to his defense. He is very proud of his sons, and always encourages them. He takes delight in Hitori's art as well, hanging his favorite paintings around the house. Kohashi Reidou: Reidou is Hitori's mother. She is kind hearted and loving, especially to her children. She spends most of her day taking care of the youngest of her three sons, and doing chores around the house. Less proud of Hitori's art than Soudai, she says a few sweet comments and lets it go. -Sibling(s): Kohashi Eiyuu: Hitori's eldest brother and best friend. He is very supportive of Hitori, always helping him to achieve the next goal. He's always helped Hitori, teaches him, shows him the way. Never will he let his brother give up. He makes sure Hitori always finishes the job, always. Kohashi Youji: Hitori and Eiyuu's baby brother. He is only 2 years old, and has not had much time to really define himself. One could say he takes after Eiyuu the most, being stubborn and determined, especially when it comes to nap time. He is very behaved for the average toddler, but can have his bouts of rage from time to time. History: The First Night In the hospital bed, a young Kohashi woman screamed in pain. Next to her was a rather proud man, also a Kohashi. He took her hand in his, glancing down at the enlarged belly of the woman, it was almost time. For nine months the man tended to his wife, beautiful for a Kohashi woman. He held her hair for her during her morning sickness, opened doors for her, everywhere they went, and even helped her stand. He acted fairly cool during the incubation time of the seed in woman's womb. This was only the second time he went through this. He glanced around the room, snapping his attention back to his wife as she let out a massive roar of pain. "She is fully dialated, we only have a few minutes, get the doctor NOW!” screamed the nurse at the woman's legs to a nurse that was sopping up sweat from the gravid woman's brow. The nurse with the sponge looked up quickly and rushed from the room. "You did this to me! YOU DID,SOUDAI!” Reidou, the pregnant Kohashi, wailed to her husband. Tears streamed down her face, as gentle shakes came from her body. Soudai began to sweat himself, he hated to see his wife in so much pain. He glanced down at his hand, feeling a terrible pressure clamping down on it. The Kohashi felt little pain however, due to the tough skin he inherited through his bloodline. This, however, was worse than his first born Eiyuu, he could tell that much. Still, he stayed with his beloved wife, he wanted her to feel loved. "Get it out of me!” "Ok, the baby is crowning, where the hell is that doctor?!” The nurse yelled. At that very moment, the trained man came in. He looked around the room as he tied a medical face mask to his head and walked over to the nurse. He stood beside her, asking her of the situation as he pulled gloves onto his hands. "Ok Reidou,” the man said gently, "on the count of three, give us a big push. One…..Two….Three-” Upon hearing the man's count of ‘three' the woman pushed as hard as she could, letting out a fierce scream as she did. She may have had tough skin, but her insides were the same as everyone else, and at that moment, they were on fire. The counting to three and the followed pushing by the woman went on for some time. Finally, after what seemed like forever for both Soudai and Reidou, the screaming ended. A moment passed as one of the nurses rushed to the doctor with a blanket, wrapping a writhing, ghost white creature in it. The little thing began to let out a series of small cries, the infant was alright. The freshly cleaned baby was handed to Reidou, who kissed him on the forehead, rocking him gently. The screams stopped. The Kohashi woman looked at the man, and kissed him gently. "What should we name him?” she whispered gently, looking down on the now sleeping child. Silence followed for some time as the man dwelled on what he wanted to name his son. He looked up, smiling. "Hitori,” he whispered, "Kohashi Hitori. Let's let him meet his big brother.” The man left momentarily. He soon returned, his five year old son tagging along, eager to meet his new little brother. He saw his brother and smiled as his father introduced him. "I will protect him daddy, I promise. I will make sure he becomes the best ninja ever, just like you!” Kohasi Hitori had survived his very first night. Things Have Changed About a year after Hitori's father had taken him to sign up for training at the Sunagakuran Academy, Sunagakure was invaded. Men from another village far to the northeast located in Rai no Kuni had come into his home. Another year later, things had changed. The streets were empty and Hitori and his father had to sneak to the arena once a week for Hitori's training by Shoudai. He could remember the years before when the streets were filled with people buying and selling goods, and just chatting. Hitori was very confused as to what was happening. Suddenly, out of nowhere, two men from the far away village grabbed Soudai, slamming him into a wall. The boy quickly became scared, and yelled out for his father. A third man grabbed the child, holding him down to the ground laughing. "So, you didn't hear about the new ordinance did ya?” one of the men said to Soudai with a grin on his face. "Yeah,” the second man barked, "only ninja training allowed is back in Fang!” The two men laughed as Soudai glanced between them. His eyes darted to his son, now crying. "Let my dad go! He didn't do anything!” "Shut up, kid,” the man holding the boy down hissed pulling a kunai from a holster on his leg ."Hah! Teach that kid a lesson, Senjiiro! Cut out his freakin' vocal cords!” The men laughed as the one with the kunai pressed the sharp tip into the neck of the Kohashi child. The blade was just deep enough to silence the child forever without killing him. He pulled the blade towards the child's chin, causing a large gash to appear.Soudai struggled to get to his son, but to no use. The men slammed him back to the wall, beating him fiercely. The man's wounds would have been worse, were he not a Kohashi. When the men had left, an old healer nin that saw the whole thing. Her grandson had come out of the house to help her pull them inside in order to heal them. Had the old woman not see the event, both Soudai and Hitori probably would not have lived. Freedom! Two years after the incident leaving Hitori mute, Sungakure no Sato was freed from rule of the Empire. Since that day he had began to poke into the visual arts. He had become a decent painter and sketcher. He attempted to work with clay a few times, however he did not think he was very good. His father Soudai, however, was very impressed by the paintings his son often made. Quite a few of them were hanging around the house, proudly being displayed. The boy would often dive into books about ninjutsu techniques, whenever he was not making some form of artwork. Studying, to Hitori, was another way to express one's inner feelings. To Hitori, studying was an art. Up Until Now Now, Hitori lives happily with his family, painting, sketching, and now even sculpting almost master artworks. He would have given up on the sculpting, but his brother Eiyuu would not allow him. Because of his brother, he has become a great artist. Although he spent most of his time on his art, he also excelled in the Academy. He was good at just about everything except genjutsu. Initially their skin appears extremely pale, almost an ivory white. Though they appear fragile their skin and bodies are already extremely resiliant against most forms of moderate physical damage, hardly even feeling a thing. The Kohashi Ninja are often deployed as scouts in harsh enviornments as their unnatural bodies enable them to cope easily with even the most extreme of terrain. Effect: Chracter is immune to all damage incured by Enviornmental terrain effects. Cost: -1 Curse of the Body: Rank 2. As they become atoned with their bodies they never cease in their physical change. Their bodies and skin strengthen, almost hardening. Pressing their bodies it's almost like pressing a rough pad of armour however despite the materialness of themselves remarkably their agility isn't put at hindrance at all, perhaps a natural change within themselves has allowed them to cope with their own form. Effect: Character is immune to all Status Effects inured by Environmental terrain effects. Cost: -1 Curse of the Flesh. The physical form of Kohashi members are unique indeed with their eerie outwards appearance. Their strange bodies are incredibly resilient to penetration by near any means though they are not impervious to pain or damage. As their bodies mature through the changes to achieve final and perfect form so does their durability and resistance against effects that others might typically suffer from. Description: Causing the sand hidden into the ground to erupt dealing minor damage along with sand getting into the eyes of the opponent slightly causing them to have reduced eyesight. Points: 3 Shield of Sand (Suna no Tate) Type: Ninjutsu (Sand) Rank: Genin Effect: --Activated in the main phase and may be de-activated in any phase. While active the user recieves no dodge roll, though they may still use jutsu, skills or weapons to defend against the incoming attack. Description: After the passing of the Fifth Kazekage many of the ninja within the village who looked up to him decided to try and preserve his specialty jutsu to be used by all Suna ninja. Since many of his most basic attacks and defenses relied on the Shukaku demon, they had to alter the workings of many of them. The only successful jutsu to come out of this plan was the Suna no Tate. It is a modified version of the technique that instead of running off of the abilities of the Shukaku demon instead are based upon the actual reaction time of the ninja himself. This jutsu is known through the village as the ‘Gift of the Fifth' which shows his determination to protect all the villagers even after his death. Points: 5 Third Eye (Daisan no Me) Type: Ninjutsu (Sand) Rank: Gennin Cost: 80 Effect: Used in the Setup Phase. Creates an eye of sand for three turns. This sensory unit acts as a third eye, and while active the user cannot suffer the effects of Blind. The eye, while active, also adds +40 Accuracy to the user. The eye itself has 1 HP and is destroyed by any attack that includes it as a target. May only have one Third Eye in play at any given time. Description: This jutsu creates a floating eyeball out of sand that is connected to the user's optic nerves. Its main purpose is spying, since it can form and disperse in any location on command. Points: 4 Wind Jutsu Wind God (Kaze Kami) Type: Ninjutsu (Wind) Rank: Gennin Cost: 30 Damage: 30 Effect: n/a Description: This is a straightforward attack for the most part, sending incredibly strong buffets of wind at the opponent and knocking them flying a good ways. It's beauty is against members of the opposite element, earth, where the wind, guided by some malignant force senses the chakra in them and buffets them for additional damage as they fly. Point: 2 Slashing Wind Skill (Kamaitachi no Jutsu) Type: Ninjutsu (Wind) Rank: Chuunin Cost: 72 Chakra Damage: 50 Effect: This is an incredibly fast, invisible attack, making it very hard to dodge. Reduce the effective evasive skill by 40 when trying to dodge this move. Description: A mighty blow of wind infused with chakra lacerates the skin. Due to the nature of the chakra seeking wind, it is very hard to see and dodge. Points: 3 Water Jutsu Liquid Thorns (Sui Ibara) Type: Ninjutsu (Water) Rank: Gennin Cost: 4 Chakra for each thorn (5 max) Damage: 4 Damage for each thorn (5 max) Effect: N/A Description: An extremely simple technique, a Kiri nin will be able to manipulate water in the air into small spikes that are shot at the target. Points: 1 Water Type; Water Dragon Blast Skill (Suiton Suiryuudan no Jutsu) Type: Ninjutsu Rank: Chuunin Cost: 96 Chakra Damage: 100 Effect: +20 accuracy to hit with this technique. Description: After performing a series of hand seals, the user gathers water around him with his/her chakra. In an instant the water takes form of a dragon and hurrles itself at the opponent. The impact causes an immense amount of damage and is frightening in appearance. Points: 4 Earth Jutsu Earth Type; Minor Tremor Type: Ninjutsu (Earth) Rank: Gennin Cost: 35 Chakra Damage: 5 Effect: Opponent gains the Prone status effect for one turn. If this technique is followed with another Iwa element technique that causes damage, they take 10% more damage from it. Description: By focusing the correct amount of chakra, the user stomps on the ground. By doing this in synch with the release of some chakra to the feet, the ground begins to ripple and sends out a single wave of earth towards the target. Once knocked over, the target is further exposed to more earth techniques. This makes a decent combo technique when used correctly. Points: 2 Earth Type: Earthshatter Type: Ninjutsu (Earth) Rank: Chuunin Cost: 55 Chakra Damage: 30 Effect: If this technique is used on a target that has been affected by the Prone status in the last two of their turns or currently has the Prone status, then this technique deals 20 more damage. Target also gains the Startled status effect for two turns. Description: Carefully collecting a hand of soil or terrain, the user gathers it in their palm and lightly blows upon it. Upon doing so, it then covers the target and suddenly coagulates all over them, as though squirming. With one final handseal, the hardening soil finally settles, only to violently shatter; impacting the target with shards of galvanized soil and terrain. Quite visually impressive, it is a perfect demonstration of a shinobi's progression from Gennin to Chuunin rank. Points: 2 Ice Jutsu Name: Anyu Type: Ninjutsu; Ice Rank: Chuunin Cost: 150 Damage: 112 Effects: Target is "Confused" for Two [2] Turns. Description: The User creatures a myriad of crystal ice particles that surround the Target in a freezing blast. The light and reflections glancing off the individual fragments disorients the Target. Points: 5 Void Jutsu Name: Atka Type: Ninjutsu; Void; Reponse Rank: Chuunin Cost: x, where "x" is the cost of incoming technique. Damage: N/A Effects: Evade the next Non-Genjutsu, Non-Area of Effect, attack of Chuunin rank or lower. Usable three times per battle to evade an attack. 5% Base chance to fail. The user looses their Set Up and Main Phase. Description: Named after an arctic guardian spirt, the User creates a mirroring force of energy to deflect any incoming physical harm. Points: 5 Clan Jutsu Cursed Arts: Abhorrent Augmentation (Bachiatari Jutsu: Osore Kasei) Type: Ninjutsu Rank: Gennin Cost: 80 Damage: 20 Effects: Oppoent is afflicted with 'Terrified' for two turns, usable once per battle. Description: The Kohashi name is rarely whispered in good tone; feared, loathed, despised and misunderstood. However a curse in that, it was inevitable until they manipulated that fear, the misunderstanding, resulting in a jutsu amplifying their abnormalities. Using their chakra to faintly glow their skin, getting close enough to touch the opponent and make them feel their unnatural skin. Using this tactic, they then use adopted power of wind to slice their opponent. Points: 4 Cursed Arts: Demonstrative Dominion (Bachiatari Jutsu: Tatsujin Kyouguu) Type: Ninjutsu Rank: Gennin Cost: 80 Damage: 30 Effects: Depending on where this jutsu is used, different effects activate. Usable once per battle. Fire Country: Opponent becomes afflicted with 'Vulnerable' for one turn Water Country: Opponent becomes 'Frozen for one turn. Wind Country: Opponent becomes 'Distracted' for two turns. Earth Country: Opponent becomes 'Disorganized' for one turn. Rice Field Country: Opponent becomes 'Confused' for one turn. Grass Country: Opponent becomes 'Exposed' for one turn. Lightning Country: Opponent becomes 'Stunned' for one turn. Description: The Kohashi are a family, masters of all terrain in due to their cursed blood. In comnbination with the afflicted curse, they have trained themselves to be the epitome of all scouting abilities, one being the manipulation of the surrounding environment. With this jutsu, the Kohashi manipulates the surrounding environment to their advantage, often creating different effects for the different environments. Points: 4 Cused Arts: Clairvoyant Pursuit (Bachiatari Jutsu: Akiraka Tsuigeki) Type: Ninjutsu Rank: Chuunin Cost: 100 Damage: N/A Effects: When hunting or tracking down a shinobi using the visibility rolls, they must increase their chance to be found by 10% the first time this is used. This jutsu may also provide the reverse effects, becoming a bonus to their own visibility roll. Description: The Kohashi clan have been forced, whether by natural talent or by nature in to a state of supremacy over the ninja ability of scouting. In the reverse sense that they are able to avoid contact and effectively disappear, they are able to find targets and keep perusal until discovered. This jutsu utilizes their ability to blend in to their surroundings, allowing for the ease to catch their target off hand quite easily. Once a clone is hit it is destroyed, and the bonuses with it. A bunshin is considered to have 0 evasion and rolls to dodge whenever it is targeted in the user's response phase. Name: Henge no Jutsu (Transformation Technique) Type: Genjutsu Rank: Academy Student Cost: 5 Genjutsu Effects: Change your appearance. A character 25+ levels above the one who uses this technique can see through it. Description: Wrap chakra around your body to change your appearance. You take that physical form, but only to a certain extent, such as body shape and size. You cannot, for instance, turn your arm into a bow and start firing ammunition at an opponent. Name: Kawarimi no Jutsu (Body Substitute Technique) Type: Ninjutsu Rank: Academy Student Cost: 10 Damage: None Effects: Evade the next attack aimed at you. Skip your main and setup phase this turn. You can only use this 1 time per battle. This technique cannot be used to dodge Ninjutsu, Taijutsu or Genjutsu Techniques. Description: A lifesaver, and a must-have technique. With this technique, the user is able to swap their body with a nearby object, usually a log, which will take the full force of any incoming blows for them, while they retreat to safe ground or search for an opening.
