cntrstrk14 Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 [ ] Mizujin's fire would ignite along the wires with lightning speed, finding their way to their target and wrapping the beasts tail in an inferno focused on a few points that seemed to melt and bubble at contact. The beast, let out a mighty roar, swinging its tail viciously towards the man and taking out the bottom floor of the building the Uchiha had landed on with a single swipe. The three story building, which was already very damaged, would begin to crumble down and spill into the street. The concrete seemed to turn to water as everything broke apart and crashed down with a fluid ease only seen when rubble that weighed thousands of pounds all moved at once. As the beast's tail swung back, fire engulfed it and burning off thick slags of... black... goo? Quickly though the flames would slowly grow smaller. The Yōkai's skin bubbled and churned, it seemed to be absorbing the fire itself. Within a few moments, the fire was gone, but not without significant burning across its tail and much goo and skin fallen off.As the beast moved to turn towards the young Uchiha, it was interrupted midway as a series of large ice crystals exploded in the air above. Izzy's attacks seemed to distract the Gargamtia just for a quarter of a second before the leviathan of ink smashed into it, sending the beast dozens of meters along the square. Thick black legs ground across paving stones and tossed them aside like grass and dirt. Perhaps unfortunately for Mizujin, the direction the Yōkai had slid was towards him and now it was only a few dozen meters away. The beast's tail swung dangerously overhead, soaring across the tops of buildings with a huge rush of wind as it whipped back and forth. With another colossal crash, Gamabunta would slam into the Yōkai as well, closing the few dozen meter gap between the Yōkai and Mizujin's destroyed building in seconds. With what seemed like the hundredth crash that day, the beast slammed into the building, grinding brick and pavement under its enormous weight. Hopefully the Uchiha had found a way out.As Gamabunta slammed into the beast, a few things happened as it slid backwards. First, its enormous mouth would try and close down on the large toad, its long sharp teeth looking to sink into the beast that was brimming with chakra for it to devour. Secondly, three of the five faces on its forehead would begin to bubble and morph on the surface. From this churning, bubbling, black tar like skin, five fingers would appear. Reaching out and pushing against the forehead, the three faces would each pull themselves from the Yōkai and launch themselves from it towards the leviathan. Their movements were quick, landing on the leviathan and immediately crawling along its massive form, launching those silvery orange lights from their mouths as they ran. [ Gargantua Spawn]As the Gargantua fought to strike at the two beast that were just slightly smaller than itself but still gigantic, its single large eye would suddenly look up; the gigantic pupil focusing directly on Raz. That Rasengan was a huge source of chakra, and it appeared that something that large would not go unnoticed by the Yōkai in the slightest. With a sudden burst of power, a large arm would burst from the beast's chest. As large as its two front ones, it would catch Gamabunta from underneath, leveraging itself and lifting the toad into the air and tossing it aside like a humongous rag doll. This strength was incredible, it appeared that the chakra that the Sennin had begun to pour forth had gotten it excited enough to get some kind of power rush. As soon as the toad was out of its way, the third arm that had grown out would burst into a cloud of chakra and become absorbed back into the Gargantua's body, its eye and mouth pointed right at Raz; and as a result, the entire party that was with him.“Devourrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!”It roared as its huge mouth began to charge another of its colossal beams. This time however, the beam was not aimed downwards, but horizontally at the party. If it fired in this direction with the same power it had earlier it would easily clear a path and destroy at least a quarter of the village in that direction. Anyone who had paid attention to the first attack it had made on Raz earlier would be able to draw this conclusion rather quickly. Worse even still was that the Harakage's Tree was directly behind them, right in the path of the beam.----------The two birds on the roof with team Oto would scream out in twin caws, a pitch that would ring in the ears at this range but not quite damage the hearing. The first would duck and dodge, taking to the air as Lilina shot two arrows towards it. It easily dodged both once it was in the air, nimble moving left and up before opening its mouth. With another caw, hundreds of tiny needles would spill forth from its beak, raining down on the three like a fire hose. The second one took a few steps forward, deciding that it was time to stop waiting and to close in. After three steps it took a single flap of its large wings and dove forward, looking to drive right at Lilina who had fired the bow of chakra. Its talons would arc forward as it closed in, looking to grasp the girl and take off, prey in claws. Whether it grasped her or not, it would try and take to the sky. ----------The two bird like Yōkai closing in on Sato would be surprised by the sudden appearance of the tuning fork yet again as it sailed between the two, just missing them. The one to the left screeched, going higher and turning back towards Kikuya as if to dive towards the woman. Just then however, the five hundred needles from Sato would tear through the two birds, ripping them into pieces as its appeared that fabric and feathers shredded away from their forms. Just as quickly as it appeared that they were destroyed however, the bits of feathers and fabric would form into smaller birds of prey. Moving like a cloud, these birds would dive with breakneck speed towards Sato, large lizard like faces with sharp teeth looking to tear their skin apart as they swarmed around the two. [ Bird Yokai; Form 2]The same lizard like birds would swoop towards Kikuya, however as they neared they would swirl together in a black mist of feathers and fabric. From this swirl, the original large bird Yōkai would appear with a screech, razor beak looking to tear the girl's neck clean open for a delicious feast. Apparently it could move between this form and the swarm relatively easily.
Leon Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 (edited) Relief was a fickle creature it seemed, as it was always associated with a temporary feeling. Something would always come along to destroy said relief no matter what the situation. In this case Ren was extremely relieved as a previously limp body picked itself gracefully off the ground. For a moment Ren was swept with this relief as Lilina appeared to have been faking the accident in order to draw the beasts in. But as with any relief the feeling would pass in time, and Ren knew this. Whether it be that these monsters would eventually eat the trio, the trio may come to an inevitable doom, or that everything was going to be okay and just down the line things would change, Ren knew the relief would fade. Regardless he held the feeling close to his heart for a moment allowing him to get a somewhat blissful feeling among the frigid rain and horrific battle conditions. He would smile as she got up, and unlike Yue, Ren would turn his head to acknowledge her. The black veins encroached on nearly every inch of her beautiful pale skin, vying for control over her body. They appeared hardened as they had in the prior days, providing a shell for her body against the Yokai. For the first time Ren thought, this could be useful, rather than viewing it as an ability that Lilina had. Unfortunately right now Ren would have to side with Yue and his plea that this thing was drawn towards chakra. "He is right" Ren muttered to Lilina, "We need you to deactivate it if you can before we continue. Its like attaching a flare to us on a stealth mission." Ren was not trying to be confrontational or pick sides in this case, for he deeply wanted all of the group to get out of this scenario so they could argue more down the line. The birds did not seem to wait as they would caw at the group, most likely attracting more of the damn birds to the spot, causing Ren to wish for a faster plan. He knew that Yue meant well when he bitched the two of them out for their need to listen to him more often, and in part Ren was agreeing with him do to the fact he was giving Yue his life right now which was not something to take lightly. Without warning the leading yokai let out a piercing scream, causing the sound ninja to momentarily cover his ears from the noise. It wasn't a frequency that would make his ear splatter blood across his lobes, but it was annoying none the less. To the boy's surprise it appeared that the Yokai were generally able to plan the moment out as they both leapt to the air. For a brief moment Ren allowed himself to believe the "birds" were in fact departing to a higher calling from elsewhere, but he knew that was just a child's dream. Ren shouted to Yue, "Whatever we do let's do it quickly!" He wondered if Yue had a plan for them getting off the roof other than jumpng. Ren could probably save himself from such a high fall and Lilina could stick to the walls (in the best case scenario) but what could Yue do? Ren knew the only safe haven for the group was in the buildings where according to ue they would continue to carry out their original mission that Raz had assigned to them. The main problem was there appeared no way to get into the building at the moment. No door or latch leading down it seemed from a quick glance, leading Ren to three options in his head (while he silently prayed Yue had better ones. The Yokai gave Ren no time to tell the plans to his team mates as they both launched a seemingly coordinated attack pattern. One Yokai had just started spewing some needle like haze at the group while the other began to charge at Lilina. NormalyRen may panic at this situation and do something EXTREMELY stupid. Fortunately for Ren he had an attack he had been working on for this exact moment. He was essentially performing a hail mary as his hands strung together a few seals. He had two hopes, first and foremost that his plan would work, and second that he did not embarrass himself in front of team mates/ piss said people off. With the seals performed everyone would notice two cyclones begin to form on the knuckles of both Ren's fists. Fuuton (Wind Release): Cyclone Bumpers! Within a second Ren performed a punch at the yokai spewing the needles at the group. A vicious cycclone launched itself at the yokai, which in worst case scenario provided enough of a wind to negate the needles from coming close to the group and in best case scenario sent said needles back at the yokai giving the beast a taste of its own medicine. Then there was the second yokai, which Ren quickly punched his left fist at releasing a more refined and tightened cyclone after the yokai. Ren knew that birds were reliant on wind to fluctuate their wings, so a sharp disturbance in the air would throw the beast off target if the bumper itself missed the yokai. Then there was the beyond worst case scenario where the beasts completely absorbed the chakra and Ren was fucked. He could only hope his team mates would implement an idea rather than talk about it. [919/2445] (OOC: If Y'all (1Q84, Azure) need to take control of Ren in order to progress the group then you are welcome to do it. Were at a point where we have to decide what to do and I don't mind you dragging Ren along lol) Edited October 28, 2012 by Leon
Terrick Sukrai Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 (edited) Terrick pushed a piece of concrete off of himself, levering it up so that he could get his bruised body out from underneath it. That blast had NOT been fun to go through, and even at his fastest the Kusa-nin couldn't get away from it. His chest was screaming at him, indicating that he had broken at least three different ribs in the blast, and another two were cursing him from his back. Sometime during the debris falling the man had also bitten his lip, leaving the coppery taste in his mouth as he stood up shakily. The beast was still up though, and Terrick could see that it was still under attack even as it continued to rampage around. "Plah! This is getting ridiculous..." he spat before wincing. Taking his attention away from the beast, he made a few seals with his free hand, pressing it to his side as the green glow of healing chakra began to envelop and infuse itself into his ribs. Regeneration (Kousei) As he finished the jutsu however, Terrick spotted a shadow moving swiftly through the air, just as the attacks of Mizujin and Izzy came rocketing in. Hopping away from his position as the beast's tail took out the floors above him, the jounin hopped and spun away as chunks of buildings and black goo rained down around him. Gamabunta's approach made it even more dangerous to be at Ground Zero, and as a result Terrick chose to get clear while he could. The beast seemed to be ignoring him in favor of the summons, which was fine in his mind for the moment, as long as it didn't wind up growing any larger... Of course, the fact that it seemed ready to multiply was just as bad! As the beast flung the giant toad and several of its 'children' aside the medic-nin saw that the Gargantua's focus had shifted. There was too much smoke to see much of what it was looking at, but the feel of chakra pooling in that area was clear... As was its location. "No... Not a F***ING CHANCE!" Terrick snarled as the creature charged another of its attacks, the glow of its mouth lighting up the area.... "You think you can just do whatever you please demon?! NOT ON MY WATCH!" Slamming both his hands into the ground, Terrick forewent the usual opening for the technique he was using, pumping as much chakra as he could without destabilising it into the jutsu, causing the ground to ripple slightly under his fists. From beneath the Gargantua's head, a giant redwood-style tree would erupt from the ground, grown rapidly through the Kusa-nin's gift with using plants as the core of his techniques. The normally sharpened top of the trees was stunted this time, and Terrick prayed even as he pushed his technique to its limit, the amplifier seals he had engraved into his gauntlets glowing almost to burning out, that it would be enough to turn the creature's head, or at least its blast, away from its intended target. Thorn Style: Log Train As the technique faded, Terrick turned his masked face to stare straight into the youkai's eye. "You want to destroy MY home beast? You want to kill MY friends, MY family, MY VILLAGE?! THEN YOU'LL HAVE TO GO THROUGH ME FIRST!!!!!" he roared, flaring his remaining chakra into a blue-green aura around him as he stood half a block to its right. Azure Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 A part of Yatako wanted to back-hand Raz for his wrong placed placation. It did not please Yatako to be told that Raz was fine when he so clearly wasn’t for the sake that he wouldn’t worry. IT also did not please him if Raz was trying to seem strong in light of the perfectly horrid situation they found themselves in. Normally, Raz was one of the most powerful shinobi that walked the earth and he did so responsibly, which Yatako respected but it was painfully obvious for the Byakugan of Raz’s poor health. A callous man would trust only his eyes, but the softer sage he was, wanted to hear the truth from Raz’s own lips. And when Sato stepped in, bobbing his tongue in all the wrong placing, he wanted to execute another back hand. “We are being shown how little we really know, Sato. And how big the world that operates under our noses is.” The comment was remarkably insightful, probably because if Yatako didn’t say those words, the only ones that would come out have been bathed in anger or frustration. They would have been much like Raz’s- which he had every reason to say. But Yatako would respectfully decline. Even if Raz was married to the Harakage, his word was not law and on a greater morality scale, Yatako was not about to leave Kusagakure yet. This wasn’t about dividing lines of villages. Hell, when had it ever been in his lifetime? “Bite the blade and leave after this thing falls. I’ll meet with Jishin and fill him in. Trust me, the less people here the better. The less amount of names that fall under a suspicion that no one can take blame for.” As Raz began stumbling away with a Rasengan swirling into life, Yatako briefly wondered if something like that could always save humanity. It was a technique that was like the Biijuu-dama, which equated to the ultimate destruction device. These things were attracted to chakra and were basically like one giant chakra lighthouse themselves. They contained no tenketsu, which meant they were one mass of chakra held together in forms- forms not contained in a body would most likely fade unless sustained by more chakra . It was shown that if chakra was not strong enough to rip apart the yokai’s being, it only added to its own strength. Physical attacks were a supposed weakness, but he couldn’t seal a being without tenketsu, unless…Yatako had a sudden and daring idea. He had to create a tenketsu system. It was so ridiculous, he laughed. There mere mention that he could do something, that he possibly had the capability to was nearly beyond belief, but fairly possible. The Gargantua sent quakes through the air from the sound of its crashing down, blasting louder than the thunder. The rain was becoming nondescript, having been a constant sensation on the skin. Although his robes were now doused in rain, sweat, blood and dirt he barely noticed and operated as if it were a perfectly sunny day. When he saw Mizujin fall beneath the crushing weight of the yokai, Yatako sprung into a sprint, driven by a pang of worry for his ANBU. But his alarm didn’t stop there. As Gamabunta was thrown sideways like a ragdoll, the creature focused now on the party alone with its charging beam announcing death to all who had looked into its eye. Time ticked still, that laser took only a moment to manifest destruction. And then a shriek burst through the rain and thunder as Taiyoutaka blew forward with a fiery wind. The Hawk boss collided with Gamabunta as the giant toad was flung through the air like a ragdoll. With monstrous wing strength, Taiyoutaka caught the toad summon with its talons. Surely that wouldn’t feel too great, but it would be better than hopelessly diving face first into the ground. When the bird caught leverage, its massive wings were able to support both toad and hawk and land the two safely on the ground. “If you spray your oil, I can light this tyrant to kingdom come!” Taiyoutaka implored of Gamabunta, two summons native to Konohagakure, now finally had a reason to work together. “Everyone, GET DOWN!” Yatako bellowed, realizing that chance was playing against them. It would prove that this Gargantua had a sudden burst of excitement at Raz’s Rasengan, giving it the adrenaline (if it had that) to probably plow through a mountain. He could foresee no other option but to try and morph the angle of the beam if it actually went through. It would put all of them in danger, but significantly less danger than if the orange beam walked them to their demise. A blue aura surrounded the Hyuuga’s fist and instantly radiated a plume of heat. Yatako’s fist coiled back and slammed into the ground. .: Zennou Genkotsu Tenrai :. (Almighty Fist of the Divine) A wave of bright blue chakra spread over the ground of the party and suddenly the sound of thunder came from the ground. The earth split, the mud exploded and fissure lines cascaded through their feet. Suddenly the earth beneath them would drop about fifteen feet beneath them. Anyone who wasn’t stuck to the ground or prepared for it would surely find themselves falling on the ground. The earth gasped and coughed as a crater ate the ground they stood on. As earth was Yatako’s primary element, he had remarkable precision in creating the crater. The fissure only knocked the land between the Gargantua and the Harakage’s trees down several feet without touching either monument. [2974] ••• The Hisame felt the scene was unfolding like a symphony. He was feeling unrestrained and boundless, dancing through the skies and shooting off his incarnations of chakra. For these strong ninja, being able to drain yourself and feel a significant pull on your chakra was a relief. Although Haruyuki would prefer a one on one match against an opponent, this was working as a swell substitute. The Hisame landed among the broken buildings and ruins, taking off again and swiftly sifting through the air. If the Gargantua could never follow him, he was never a target. But then again, he was squared off against the giant boss toad. The spawn would wrap around Haruyuki’s leviathan and blast orangy lasers directly into its core. As it wasn’t meant to sustain damage, the ink summon wouldn’t last long to an attack, but it certainly wouldn’t disappear without a fight. The leviathan screamed as its inky body began to burn and separate. The icy shards in its ink melted and it began to become runny, signifying the loss of its life. The eyes of the leviathan grew angry as it cried in anguish. Swimming through the air, the leviathan twirled and twirled, releasing the last increment of its energy in a swirling rage creating a black whirlpool to trap the spawns in Haruyuki saw the spawns tearing up his creation and as an artist, took personal attack against it. The Hisame continued his tactic of touch and go with the land, always moving through the air like he could always fly. His cloaks fluttered behind him like a slow shadow, always a step behind his master. “Izzy, shoot a Shippu at the whirlpool and propagate it. I need that thing spinning quick enough so those spawn never come out!” Nor, if Haruyuki had his way they would because they simply wouldn’t be anymore. He regretted that there were only three of them in there, but one had to be wise when pouncing on opportunities. He wanted to be making damage on the huge husk of a creature, but if dismantling it was what he had to do, then so be it. He would personally pull the other two out and skewer them all the same. He launched himself from the ground once more, soaring into the sky forming hand seals. When Haruyuki was several feet above whirlpool , his hand was fully caked in ice with a swirling ball of water churning in his palm. He tossed the orb into the whirlpool with a flicker of a smile piercing his lips. ≈|:: Hari-Yuki: Okuta-bu Saizensen Sanryoukyou ::|≈ (Crystal Snow Type: Octavian Glaive Prism) Like a volcano erupting, the whirlpool exploded in a frenzy of ice, formed into spears. The spears skewered everything in the black whirlpool forming in all directions and crunching together. The spears were born and shattered, letting the whirlpool twist and turn frozen shrapnel through the whirlpool forming a relentless assault on the Gargagantua spawn. If the rain wasn’t drowning out sound, a deafening of shattering glass would peel through the air from the magnitude of a reaction that was happening within the pool. The last time he used this technique, he stopped a usurper of Kirigakure. [1919] [Megan, you may control Alba for a bit] ••• Lilina looked at the boys with an indignant glare, as if little daggers were streamlining out of her pupils and into their skin. They had completely missed the point of why she acted dumb. To do something important. “And if I didn’t DO THAT, we’d have a shish kebab for a teacher. You saw Raz, the only thing holding him together is the few strands of emotions he’s gushing out like lava. I don’t need you jumping down my throat because I know if you thoughts Raz was in trouble. You. Would. Do. The. Same. Exact. Thing.” Morons. The slightly heartwarming thing was she knew that about them. It was the sense of reliance like that that made this team seam slightly…more teamly. They were all worried about each other, but too angry to express it rightly. Except Ren. All his emotions were lust. She was so preoccupied with the boys, it didn’t even register that the bird yokai had avoided both her lighting arrows. “We didn’t start the stealth mission yet!” She argued back, obviously planning on deactivating her bloodline before it started. She wasn’t stupid and frankly, it was getting on her nerves that they thought she was. She was buying time for them to decide. If that meant attracting the attention of the yokai, she would rather do that and be prepared then to be caught off guard. That was, perhaps her training the in the NCIA. Utilizing ever moment and multitasking every other. Just to show them that she was fully capable of controlling herself. With hand seals, she directed her chakra into her hands and they began to flicker a bright blue flame. Placing her hand upon her breast, the flame slid under her vest and robe and in a flash, the black lines that ran across her skin retracted. Her bloodline calmed and an aura of relaxation washed over her and clarity resumed. For a brief moment, the rain actually felt nice. It was the brief second of awareness in which one realized they were alive and that motion was happening. The motion of life, the motion of nature and at this very moment her will could enact an imprint on the clay of the future. And just as that precious moment came, it was interrupted by the rude scream of some ugly looking bird. It was nice that Yue actually made a decision to direct them what to do. Now that he game SOME direction, they could coordinate something instead of standing around waiting to be some bird nest scrap. It was just in time too, as the two yokai set off a plan of their own (could they actually talk to each other? This was just too weird for her) and wouldn’t you know one of them was coming after her. Like it had some vengeance towards her (or worse). Quickly, she looked around and scanned the environment. The building to her left was crumbled in ashes. If there was anyone in those ruins, they would already be dead or would soon be. But there was a house in front of it with dead and brown wines growing up on it. It would have looked like a marvelous house once, but since it seemed as though the life was sucked out of it, it looked a shade terrifying. Not as terrifying as the yokai terrorists, but an ordinary sense of terrifying. The house itself was still intact. “I’m heading for the house on our ten, I hope to see you guys soon without these crazy chirps on us. Wah!” She screeched, realizing one of those kooky birds was coming after her. There were needles coming after them, and a bird lunging at her. If she was feeling especially graceful, she would have shimmied her way so that the one bird yokai hit the other in the processes. But these weren’t normal enemies, nor was she willing to take chances she didn’t have faith in (See, Yue?). And hopefully after she executed her plan, she wouldn’t get a mouthful. Sure, she was the first to leave the group, but if she spared any more time, she could be hauled off by this not so attractive prince. Who was still a bird. Her hands clapped together and her body was suddenly paled in a wash of white chakra. It appeared as though she didn’t budge an inch. In fact, she stood perfectly still and became ghastly quiet. The bird yokai had successfully launched at her, driving its talons into…nothing and carrying it away. The transparent Lilina was still there, albeit fading into nothing but wisping smoke. She was like a ghost momentarily, teetering between worlds and caught in limbo. The technicalities of what she did were about as strange as Kawarimi no Jutsu, with the extension that she didn’t trade places with anything. She simply moved from one place to another, leaving an afterimage. Lilina reappeared on the street level next to the building and meandered her way towards the building she identified. It felt as though tremors were being born from the earth, though she neglected to identify why. She tunneled all of her senses into making sure she was uninterrupted in her dash towards the house. Through the shrouded light of the storm, she could see orange bursts devouring the shadows around her. Something was happening, something rather bad. She hoped Raz was still alive. He was undeniably strong, but he was at a disadvantage today and she was worried she was the only one to see it and do something about it. Regardless, she found herself ducking around the building, but her stealth was compromised. The burned vines added a distinct crunch to her steps, but the thunder and rain ahead was muffling those sounds to the point where it didn’t even matter. She made her way to the front door and tried it- unlocked. Lilina burst through the portal like a gust of wind only to find darkness inside. The inner light was much dimmer than the poor lighting outside that it took her a minute for her eyes to adjust. But her ears had adjusted as soon as she walked in. And they heard nothing but the ghostly hymns of silence. [2579]
Cloudnine Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Kikuya glared at Raz part seething, part shuffling to the side to pick up the massive tuning fork she’d hurled toward the avian creatures. Rage strangled her words into a raspy hiss as the sound eater’s last sonic meal threatened to burst from her throat. Karuna’s genjutsu retained a deadly hold on her psyche. Every one of her movements added to her frustration- walking, breathing, talking was far too delicate- Karuna and her body had told her to destroy. She didn’t want to sit here arguing with some inept Hachinin; she didn’t want to play with these damn birds squawking their rancid sounds onto her palate. She wanted to either punch the brains out of Karuna or this tar-for-brains monstrosity, irrational or not. “I will not help you,” the jounin snarled, her purpose of village diplomacy lost somewhere between the void from Metropolis to Kusagakure. Her matted raven locks tossed about a shoulder, Kikuya glanced at the red-haired Hachinin to continue in a repulsively honeyed sneer, “do your best, Raz.” A cacophony chattered overhead as reptilian birds swarmed amidst the sky. From her distance, Karuna watched, gathering chakra for another slew of mental manipulation upon her frenzied host. Stirring the woman into a greater rage would quickly send her into exhaustion if she lost track of her energy reserves. As flightless Kikuya specialized mainly in close ranged combat, her talents were wasted on these birds that simply swerved away from her bulky swings and would dissipate and reform after her cleaving blades. Not that that stopped Kikuya- she’d keep thrashing until her arms gave out. The sensor pair suddenly caught wind of an oncoming onslaught from the demon, and that was when the two formulated something that resembled somewhat of a strategy. Kikuya was driven away from retrieving her thrown weapon by the swarm of flesh-hungry birds, leaping backwards to buy a few split seconds as the flocking mass morphed into one single demon again. The fuck? One hand instantly fell onto the sickle and chain weapon readily at her side as a secondary armament. Karuna aimed her next mind trick then, directing a massive outpouring of chakra towards her twin. The amount was nothing compared to the three pooling reserves of power Kikuya precariously danced between however. The woman felt the sound parasite’s next genjutsu in an instant: her mind denied pain and her skin felt resilient as if steel. Enraged and immune to fear and the notion of danger, Kikuya bound directly into the demon’s open-mawed assault. Her defenses temporarily superhuman, she engaged in a counterattack as the bird creature snapped into her neck. One hand grabbed onto all manner of feather and flesh of the demon while the other swung the weighted weapon chain around to bind both shinobi and abomination together. She hoped the momentum of her upward charge was enough to offset the force of the lighter boned airborne creature so that they could escape the snare of the earth Yatako caved in below them, and right into the Gargantua’s blast. As much as the birds could dodge and disperse around Kikuya’s weapon strikes, there was little hope of surviving a beam that demolishes villages, right? Due to her sensing abilities, Kikuya’s timing was near perfect as chaos was unleashed in an instant. The groaning earth imploded as another beam of light came wailing at the party. She’d position the ensnared demon before her as some sort of makeshift body shield as the blast ricocheted towards their falling forms. Not quite at depth where the crater offered any amount of significant shelter for Kikuya, she hoped that the bird and her own buffered defenses were capable of meeting the edge of the blast. At the last moment the woman’s body shifted into her pure form of low frequency sound waves to escape the chains that held the trapped avian creature before the onslaught. The Pure Land Form, however, as her father said, shone in its effectiveness only against attacks of solid mediums. Her astral shift mitigated a large portion of the blitz, but even the fraction she was meant to endure seared through her energy form. Fight and invincibility was driven out of Kikuya as she materialized to plunge the last few feet face first into the mile-wide ditch created by the Hokage. Karuna too lay stunned in the building wreckage she hid in, mentally linked to Kikuya’s recumbent state. Thankfully due to the sound parasite’s genjutsu, Kikuya failed to feel the full brunt of the attack, but her body plainly showed the aftermath of her recklessness. She urged herself to move only to numbly lay as her altered mind tried to realign with her battered limbs. “...damn you all,” the sound eater cursed. It was her own short temper that allowed her to be subjugated by Karuna to depart from reason. Get up. I am not expendable!
1Q84 Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 sorry this took so long i've been really strapped for time lately. i'll try and keep up with the posting but don't feel like you have to wait for me. Yue rolled his eyes at Lilina's justification for throwing herself into the yokai's path. Right, wasn't a chance in hell that Mr. "Let's have impromptu flying lessons Yue" could deal with a couple of god damn birds while he was standing on top of a giant frog but sure, let's leave him with his crackpot friends to deal with fuckin' Laser Light show as he tore up earth and heaven. “Can we just fuckin’ move already?” Yue asked keeping his mouth shut about what he though about Lilina’s misguided attempts to protect Raz from the avian flu or some dumb shit because the last thing he wanted was to put into his teammates head that heading back into that hellhole was the smart idea. Yue knew that they would only get in the way and in Yue's opinion the last thing that swirly eyed fuck needed was for one of them to get hurt considering that his kid and his wife was missing so a little less trying to save his ass and a little more trying to protect their own sounded like something Yue could get behind. If Yue had to wager a guess on this shit situation getting themselves killed would hurt Raz a hell of lot more then any physical wound their teacher had or was likely to get. Of course they still had these god damn birds to deal with seeing as Lilina and Ren had given them plenty of reasons to go after them with their undivided attention. Not for the first time during this miserable trip did Yue feel like his best option was to stand their with his thumb up his ass until they got close enough for Yue to get his hands on. Ren seemed to have the first one handled as it sent it's own attack back in it's face but whatever he did to the other one didn't seem to deter it much as it went diving after Lilina again who proceeded to scream and not move an inch. Swearing Yue moved to close the distance between the two preparing to strike if Lilina didn't move to avoid being carried off Yue was probably as surprised as the yokai when it's claws were met with no resistance but he took advantage of it. Hoping some good old fashioned raw force was enough to beat this thing down and hoping that it would be relatively unaware of his power without using the gates or chakra Yue slammed his fist into the creatures body with as much strength as he could muster before whirling around to figure out what the hell his crazy teammate had done. "You have got to be fuckin' kidding me."Yue seethed through clenched teeth as he watched Lilina's afterimage or whatever fade as she flounced into the house she called. That was fucking it. If he survived this he was going to learn how to use some god damn ninja shit. Way to make him feel like a god damn invalid as he had to get off the god damn rooftop with nothing to use but his hands and feet and minimal chakra control he learned with activating the gates and his elemental specialty while Lilina and Ren could probably use that magical bullshit to get down their without a problem. Yue was the one who had to be concerned about a broken neck or arm or god damn it did he hate heights. "Come on!" He shouted at Ren realizing that it was entirely possible to hate this god damn mission more as he raced across the rooftop in the direction of the building Lilina had indicated. He didn't stop to think about what the hell he was about to do because if he did he'd freeze up or balk and like hell he was going to ask Ren for help again. All he needed was a few god damn seconds to get that stupid wall walking shit working and he'd be just fine so he was really banking on using some of those vines as a temporary grip to gain some traction as Yue took a flying leap off the rooftop unable to tell in the dark and the rain that the plant life had turned to shit. The vines crumbled in his grasp and Yue let out a yelp as he lid down the side a good dozen feet before he was able to concentrate his chakra enough to adhere to the side though he wasted absolutely no time scrambling down the rest of the distance until his feet were on placed on ground that wasn't as solid as it should be thanks to the rain and the tremors but it was a damn sight better then the side of a building. The sounds and lights of whatever the hell was going on where they left Raz was somewhat hidden at this point but Yue refused to acknowledge that the tight feeling in his stomach was fear for their psychotic teacher as he chased after Lilina into the building. “Do you think they evacuated?” Yue asked keeping his voice low and his shoulders tense for a fight as his eyes darted around the dark gloom. It was painfully obvious that he didn’t think for a second that’s what actually happened because there would’ve been stragglers or those who refused to leave and Raz sure as hell wouldn’t have dive bombed into his hospital room stating that the entire god damn city had vanished off the map. Something else was going on here that was more then just those crazy monsters and Yue had no idea what the hell it was or how to stop it and it was putting him on edge. i may have took some liberties with where the building was located. hope you don't mind, lol
wolfnin Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) It seemed even with the looming threat of several yokai it would be almost impossible for some to put their animosity and dislike aside for the sake of survival. The onslaught of threats from the otogakure shinobi would only serve to support his initial thought while the words lingered around Sato's mind for several seconds. His fist shook with rage, not because he was threatened, but it was due to the fact that the otogakure shinobi had just outrageously claimed that the people here had something to do with it. Despite the feuds between the hidden villages, there was no moral reason to completely annihilate the inhabitants of Kusagakure; especially not five years after the NCIA Empire had fallen. The otogakure shinobi was a foreigner as well, what right did he have to state who belonged here and who didn't? His rage would quell with a statement from Yatako that answered his previous question, followed by a statement. "I understand. There's no need to cause more of a mess than we already have here." The jounin gave a nod to confirm his understanding. His presence here would only make the tension worse once the battle against the yokai had subsided. Despite his removal of his headband and hiding his allegiance, it seemed no matter where he went, kumogakure shinobi where still seen as the enemy. Though, many of the villages had good reasons to still dislike kumogakure. "I just wanted to help..." Sato said to himself while his voice trailed off. The rain which had been inconspicuous earlier was now noticeable as the jounin felt each drop that touched his skin. It was quite a nuisance to feel as if no matter what, you were always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sato's eyes flickered up above while the shrieking cry of the yokai entered audible range. These yokai were the true nuisance and now it was clear that these breed of yokai were capable of separating their primary physical form into smaller forms, and vice-versa. Although this was surprising, it was a vital piece of information. Within the shinobi world, the battlefield was riddled with information and with this vital piece, it would be plausible to form a strategy. His needles which had slammed into the birds and cut them into shreds earlier only served to force these birds into their second form. If shredding the yokai form into pieces didn't destroy them, the chance of success of eliminating the yokai by destroying its multiple form one by one, was not in his favor. Perhaps, if one were to destroy all the forms in a simultaneous blast then the yokai would not be able to reform? It was an untested theory, but Sato was willing to roll the dice for the lucky number seven. "Alright then, guess it's time to stop playing with the pigeons." It was time for the stage to be set and the curtain to fall on the pesky reptilian-avian beast. Instinctively, a slew of seven hand seals were performed with chakra being released immediately after it was completed. Saiketsu (Judgement) The course that the events around him were taking place would have impeccable timing as the ground beneath him collapse the instant his jutsu began to initiate, sending the kumogakure jounin for a short free-fall. The winds in the area around him increased in velocity and swirled rapidly, forming a vortex. The vortex which had begun to grow rapidly in size and pressure in order to consume the incoming cloud-swarm of yokai had now engulfed any loose rocks and debris from the ground implosion. Since wind was his primary element, Sato had enough precision to ensure that the vortex would only swallow the yokai and once that happened, the vortex would hold them still long enough to place them in the path of the behemoth orange beam that charged towards their direction. Kazaashi Ukabu (Wind Speed Float) Utilizing the excess wind from the twister he surrounded himself with it in order to slow his descent and landed softly onto the the new ground which laid fifteen feet deeper. His eyes flicked upwards as he focused on sustaining the pressure and velocity of the twister. It was difficult to tell if the avian-reptile birds were caught within the vortex, due to the debris, though he had faith that his plan worked...hopefully. Eechi-go Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 (edited) "Shit." Teiru's voice blurted out uncharacteristically over the mic in Sato's ear. Apparently when he had tried to get into contact with the miniature Kumo base in Metropolis the last time, his finger had accidentally jammed the activation button on the mic, causing the crew to basically listen in on everything that was said between now and then. "That's what we were afraid of...that Oto-nin is married to the Harakage. This operation was intentionally covert to avoid creating any visible connection between us and the village's demise. If the Harakage is dead then that only throws yet another wrench into your extraction..." Some static began to ring through Sato's ear, but between it he could probably make out Teiru speaking with the Raikage as though they were attempting to formulate some kind of backup plan. This situation clearly wasn't panning out the way anyone wanted it to, and was quickly going south seemingly at the speed of light. Still, the fact that the Raikage was putting all this effort into ensuring Sato made it home safe despite being in a situation that was hopeless spoke volumes about how important he considered the B.O.L.T.S. Commander to be. "Alright." Teiru came back over the mic again with a little more confidence in his voice than before. "The situation has gotten wildly out of hand, so we need to salvage our reputation as much as possible. If you can find any information connecting this incident back to a perpetrator, that would redeem the entire operation. That Oto-nin has enough pull with his village to form an attack on Kumo should he continue to believe that we're at fault here. Under normal circumstances the Raikage would like to think that he wouldn't be so foolish, but this kind of hit to his life will leave him with nothing to lose in the world. If we can find ANY evidence of who or what sparked this attack, or at the very least this sudden appearance of the yokai, we can hopefully divert him and everyone else who may suspect us as the threat. If you can't find anything then try to keep yourself hidden and leave with the Hokage. He is a reasonable man, and has enough pull with Oto and Kusa to keep them off your back should the situation get violent." --- Kikuya's venom didn't earn a second glance back from Raz as he continued to slowly but surely limp his way towards the massive yokai. It was likely that he couldn't hear her over the sound of his ringing ears...but even if he could, he simply did not have the time, nor the desire to indulge some Oto-nin who came out of nowhere and had no history of doing absolutely anything for their homeland. Oto wasn't one of those massive villages that the deeds of the common shinobi could get lost in. Even before the war crushed their numbers, it wasn't terribly strange for most of the Oto-nin to know each other by name. With the NCIA rolling in and the rise of VAK, Raz could easily claim to be on a first-name basis with every able-bodied resistance fighter they had left. Yet Kikuya remained an unknown in his mind, and because of this, her bitterness and unreasonable attitude was simply shrugged off. It just wasn't worth getting into a fuss over this. "Ugh! Get offa' me ya' big slobberin' monstrosity-!!" Gamabunta exclaimed in an echo as Gargantua tried to devour the boss toad whole, finding half of his head in the beast's mouth with it's teeth tearing at his slippery flesh. The toad attempted to retaliate by gripping the hilt of his titanic katana and attempting to jab it into the side of the yokai's head, but it didn't seem to phase it too much. Of course, since half of Gamabunta's head WAS his body, it wasn't surprising that he couldn't get enough leverage in his arm to to a tremendous amount of damage to his enemy. "Whoa WHOAH WHOAAAH-!!!" To say that the toad was caught off-guard by being flung through the air would be an understatement, as everyone in the village could see just how wide the summon's eyes got as it went flipping through the air. That was pretty impressive given the decreased visibility due to the heavy downpour. Gamabunta was equally if not more terrified that he was going to end up landing on a building of survivors who hadn't evacuated yet. It was not an unusual tactic for summoners to drop their summons on their enemies beacuse it was damn effective. To land head-first on a building filled with average civilians was practically a death sentence. That said, the toad king was estatic to be caught by an ally...for the most part. "Ow...I'm glad ta' see ya', but ya' might wanna' consider trimmin' those claws..." The toad complained despite being appreciative, happily leaving his previous state of hanging limply in the hawk's claws as he touched back down on the ground a ways away from behind the yokai. "Yer gonna' have ta' give me a second. That damned bastard took a big ol' bite outta' my chakra back there. Get ready!" Gamabunta responded to his ally's plea by beginning to form the apporpriate handseals which allowed him to gather his chakra. Under normal circumstances he could have fired off a bolt of oil instictively, but he didn't have the most expansive of chakra pools thanks to his proficiency in frog katas. Raz, however, had now stopped completely in his tracks as he watched Gamabunta get completely dismantled by Gargantua. The yokai had preformed a master stroke by not only removing the giant toad as his only way up to the creature's face, but by beginning to charge up yet another one of those crazy lazer light shows that practically decimated the village the last time it went off. The Rasengan was completed and spinning practically a thousand miles a minute...but there was no way he could navigate the terrain to stop the massive chakra bomb from blowing him and everyone else up to kindgom come- not while his body was as crippled as it was. Sure, normally he could just create chakra wings to help fly him upward, but practically all of his chakra was focused into the spiraling sphere. If his legs weren't almost shattered in half he could probably leap off a couple of the surrounding buildings, but he could barely muster to strength to limp let alone jump. He could still sense Korin in the village...but the frustration, hopelessness and blood loss began to take a toll on the man's crumbling psyche, which would eventually swirl together to cause him to hallucinate and begin hearing old words from the past that creeped up the back of his mind as his eyes watched the yokai prepare it's finishing blow... --- "I'm scared." A healthier and slightly younger Raz found himself sitting out on the porch of his home on a pair of rocking chairs, talking to his father, Raizen, who was smoking a wood pipe. It was about two or three years since the Battle at Fang, and peace still lingered throughout the lands for the most part. Hei was barely capable of walking, but he tried fruitlessly to help Korin water some of the plants and crops outside the house as Raz and his father watched on. Raizen shot his son a confused glance as he blew a plume of smoke from his mouth, looking as though their conversation had just taken a rather surprisingly dark turn. "Of?" Raz remained silent, looking out at his wife and child as they bonded with his hand clenching and unclenching over and over again. "I-I don't know. When I joined the Resistance, I did it out of some stupid youthful desire to be 'free' and 'independent'." He said aimlessly, as though he was going to start going off on a little tangent. "I never expected this war to end with me standing on top with seven of the greatest shinobi of our generation, one of which being my spouse. On one hand I'm proud to have been acknowledged by the world. I-I never really believed my influence would extend outside Oto's streets, playing guitar for a couple of coins every other day. It's incredible...but at the same point-" Raz leaned over on his knees, his eyes sharpening into a solemn glance as he watched Hei fall over with a watering canister and scraped his knee, immediately bursting into tears and rushing into the arms of his mother. The Hachinin winced, but he knew Korin could fix it. "You're worried your past is going to catch up with you now that you have a family." Raizen guessed, and was seemingly spot-on with his assessment based on Raz's silence. It took a few moments, but he did eventually nod. "We've made enemies on both sides of the war." He started, leaning back in his chair again, trying to rock his troubles away as his eyes glanced back up at the sky which was beginning to turn orange and red due to the falling sun. "I'm sure I've got plenty of NCIA supporters who hate my guts. And for her it's even worse since she's ex-NCIA. There's probably plenty of Resistance ninja that despise her for being on the opposing side for half the war then flip-flopping and being held up as a hero with the rest of us. I'm terrified that one day someone we pissed off is going to find us and...take this away." Raizen remained relatively silent, continuing to blow plumes of smoke out of his mouth every now and again with his pipe. Raz seemed relatively displeased with this, as he called out with a rather strained and stressed, "Hey!", earning a sideways glance from his father. "Do you have anything to say!? Some advice atleast, or...?" "Rasen, you know I don't feel like it's appropriate for me to give you advice anymore. Not after we left Oto without you. Its no longer my place to do so." "That was my choice!" Raz exclaimed, almost pleading at this point. He knew his father had a guilt concious after all that had happened. "You know I don't blame you for that. You're my father, and...you lost mom in the war. You must have some kind of advice. I don't have anyone else in the world to turn to about this without looking weak or painting a target on myself." Raizen continued to remain silent for a few moments longer, pulling the pipe from his lips as he looked over to his son. Obviously the mention of his mother dying caused a knee-jerk emotional reaction, and it showed in his eyes. There was no anger, however. It was simply a deep sadness that he realized he never wanted his son to experience despite the fact that all the evidence in the world was going to indicate the contrary. Death was a mountain that no one enjoyed climbing. Suddenly, his voice would come out in a whisper, almost as though he didn't want anyone else but Raz to hear him despite the fact that his family was too far away to be within earshot. "Tell Korin you love her. Tell her every night, and every morning. And as gently as you can to make her understand...that we all fall sooner or later. Nobody lives forever. Nobody gets a free pass. What matters is that you go down fighting...and you go down clean." --- "I'm going to make you EAT THIS YOU PIECE OF SHIT-!!" So long as Korin's presence lingered in the village, there was no way in the nine hells that Raz was going to give up and let this yokai decimate it, even if it meant giving his life in the process. The spirals in his eyes began to spin in tandem with the Rasengan, and he garnered the energy to begin charging the creature yet again, leaving his clone behind. He still had one last option, and that was to use the clone's decent chakra pool to propel him up at Gargantua. Thankfully this plan worked in conjunction with Yatako's near flawlessly, as the clone initiated the burst of wind that sent Raz flying upwards at the exact moment of the earth beginning to crumble beneath them all. Hopefully this would have thrown off the yokai's balance enough to disrupt it from shooting it's crazy laser light show. As Raz approached the creature's head faster and faster, Gamabunta had gathered enough chakra to form a mass of toad oil in it's gullet. Puffing out it's cheeks so he could mold it into a bullet, the toad would lean back before blowing forward, releasing the torrent of oil so it would slam into the yokai's back and drenching it with the flamable liquid. All Taiyoutaka had to do now was provide the fire so that they could light this bitch up. However, none of this would matter if the yokai managed to shoot it's chakra bomb anyway. Raz decided that the only way to ensure that it never got released, or atleast backfired, was to aim the Rasengan directly at the bomb. The Rasengan was designed to function like the bijuudama technique that the similarly named Bijuu liked to rely on in combat. He doubted that any other technique in his arsenal could hold back this attack, let alone penetrate through it. The ultimate goal would be to force the bomb back into the creature's mouth and force it to explode, dentonating the beast from the inside out. Sadly, the more likely scenario was that the contact between the bomb and the Rasengan would set both off at the same time prematurely, resulting in what would likely be Raz's demise, and hopefully the yokai's. At the very least the wind chakra from the Rasengan would overcharge the flames of the summons and burn the creature down even if it survived the initial impact. At the very least it wouldn't kill everyone else. So, resigned to his fate, Raz reared back the Rasengan, and with all his might, thrust it forward into the yokai bomb, yelling out with all of the frustration, malice, and contempt he had for everything that had happened in the last 24 hours. Rhap Sodos Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 (edited) To say Izzy was scared would be a rather gross understatement at this point. The reality was that he was scared practically witless, clinging to Alba's back as the much more nimble fox navigated the exploding terrain with a sense of precision that the clumsy Namikaze could never have managed. If it weren't for the white fox creature will to serve as a steed of source, Izzy probably would've been blown to pieces by now. Which wasn't a comforting thought. In fact, it just served to propagate the feeling of absolute dread in his stomach. Even whatever minute feeling of accomplishment he might've felt with his technique's success at diverting the giant monsters attention for a few fraction of seconds, Izzy knew that's all it was, all he was - a distraction. He was afraid he was going to die - there was no denying that, not when three Hachinin and their summons were giving their all and the beast still fought back. But the deeper fear, the fear that made him want to run and hide was that someone here would die trying to protect or save him. The young Namikaze had lived through that experience once already, lived with the mental scars of that every day of his life. He never wanted to go through that experience again. But it was too late to get cold feet with the situation. There was no safe way to leave, and for every ounce of worry he had that he was going to get one of his friends or new comrades hurt, there was the equal feeling of safety being close to Haruyuki, letting the much more experienced Sennin direct his movements and tell him what to do. Izzy's faith in the Hisame was absolute, and he would have to trust the other Kiri-nin to get them both of this in one piece. Following Haruyuki's instruction, what Izzy lacked in skill he made up a bit in sheer force, even if his skill with ninjutsu was less then half of what his mentor was capable of enough. Hopefully it would be enough to turn the tides [literally] in their favor, as Izzy let unleashed the whirlwind of wind, fear and perhaps a decent amount of desperation helping to fuel the assault. However, while Izzy may have been focused entirely on his technique, Alba was far more aware of the situation around them, aware of not only Haruyuki's instructions but the what the Hokage had said, and more likely why. As such, Izzy let out a yelp as the white fox creature unexpectedly dived down, losing grip with his arms briefly and flailing about as his knees dug into the poor beasts side. "W-wait, Haruyuki!" Izzy managed to shout, more out of fear of leaving his teacher behind then anything, but Alba was in no mood to listen. Instead he would bring the young Namikaze to the relatively safety of the crater created by the Hokage, coming to a skidding stop that [an object in motion stays in motion until acted upon by an outside] resulted in Izzy being flung head over heals onto the lowered earth. "Stay down." The fox summon barked, hackles raised. Izzy may not be able to feel what was coming, but the summon could, and frankly, having Izzy sprawled on his back, dazzed, was probably the safest place for him right now. Shippu: Hurricane (Shippuu) Type: Ninjutsu [General; Wind] Rank: Gennin Cost: 20 Chakra Damage: 10 Effect: Opponent's Ninjutsu and Taijutsu are reduced by 20 when trying to hit with any ranged attack or jutsu for one turn. Description: A flurry of wind surrounds the target, spinning them wildly and lifting them a bit off the ground before slamming them back down. It does little damage, but leaves their perception highly skewered and makes ranged attack difficult. Edited November 19, 2012 by Rhap Sodos
cntrstrk14 Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 ooc: Taking control of Ren a second because he wanted to meet up with the team but had already posted. I also apologize in advance if I misunderstood anyone's post, please let me know if I did. The Yokai birds on the rooftop with team Oto were in for more than a fight than they were expecting. The one shooting needles would find its attack scattered as the wind blast from Ren would cause the needles to twist and flip off their trajectory, becoming completely useless. The other, losing some stability from the wind blast and finding only air with its talons would be completely off balance as Yue's fist collided with its side, sending it sliding across the flat roof. As it skid though it would start to break off... pieces. Quickly those pieces took on a life of their own as strange winged fish.. things... flew after Yue in a counter attack. As he jumped off the roof they would fly over his head, just missing his shoulders as they tried to bite down on him. Had he been a moment slower they would have gotten him. Ren followed right behind Yue, both of them scrambling into the same building as Lilina. Everything would be silent for a moment, the sounds of the Gargantua replacing feet and the occasional colossal explosion, but aside that nothing but the sound of their breathing in the small building. Then like a torrent of water, flying piranha like birds would burst in through the street side windows, filling the room with black wings and feathers. Like a swarm of confused bats, the yokai would swarm all over the room and the few that found the three Chuunin would try and sink their teeth into whatever they could find. There were so many, the literally FILLED the room and made it hard to see five feet with their wings and feathers moving around in a panicked frenzy. ---------- The Gargantua spawn, using their hand like bodies to crawl all over the leviathan, soon found that they were easily slicing the beast up. In a uniform manner though, they all stopped as the beast started to churn and twist. Izzy's whirlwind would send the beast's remains spinning and all three hands would be hopelessly caught in it as it all exploded. Each of the hands were vaporized, bursting into pure chakra as the explosion overwhelmed them completely. With a keen eye though, one might wonder if it was a true victory as those motes of chakra floated back towards the Gargantuan itself. The leviathan's explosion didn't even seem to phase the Gargantuan himself despite being only a bit away. He was too focused on the Rasengan spiraling in front of him, its large eye taking in only that as it bent low in preparation to fire its beam. In the last moments though, a beam of wood would erupt in the ground right below the yokai's chin. Like a well placed uppercut, the yokai would have no choice but to tilt its head up, ball of energy about reaching its breaking point... ---------- Kikuya's attack would work, the bird yokai thinking it had won its battle for prey would not break into its second form even as the Otogakure girl launched them both further into the air. Afterall, the air was its domain. As it's teeth sunk deep into the girl's shoulder, it would not even realized where it was as she faded out of its grip. A quick moment of panic would fill its small brain, but it was too late as Kikuya fell back towards the ground... ---------- Sato's whirlwind attack would push the bird yokai away, though it didn't seem to be permanently damaged from what the young man could see, which was not much. So much happened right at that moment. Yatako yelled for everyone to get down, and he meant it pretty literally. The floor swung out from the young man, and though he made a graceful landing, those split seconds had caused him to lose line of sight with the bird yokai that had swooped off someplace else. Raz was gone at this moment, and a terrible roar would screech out as the village went a terrifyingly bright orange as if a second sun had been birthed right above their very heads. It only lasted a moment down in Yatako's makeshift trench before a rushing cloud of wind, soot and debris would rush over them, blocking out the orange light and the natural sun as well for a few moments... ---------- Seconds earlier, Raz had taken off just as Yatako had formed his trench, launching himself right towards the Gargantuan. Whether this was the best idea or not was yet to be seen, but Gamabunta's delay in his oil stream might have cost Raz his life. At this moment, as Raz hung in mid air, the beast let out its gigantic blast of chakra, catching the Otogakure Sennin in mid flight and engulfing him in a blinding light of pure molten chakra... ---------- Kikuya would be facing the bird Yokai as she fell backwards, her peripheral vision would allow her to see Raz jumping towards the huge Yokai that appeared to now be aiming up at them. It was only a quarter of a second though before her vision would be filled with a blinding orange light. Her skin would feel an intense heat as if an explosion had gone off in her face, causing her arms and possibly chest if she did not react fast enough to suffer some burns. Falling to the earth, she would find herself landing in Yatako's crater, just before they were covered with what sounded and looked like an avalanche of soot. The bird Yokai had been in the center of the blast before she had been blinded, it had surely been evaporated by the intensity of the blast... ---------- From Yatako's point of view, Raz would take off just as Sato came down. Izzy would arrive on the back of Haruyuki's summon and would not even get a moment to speak a word. Even with his Byakugan active, to Yatako everything suddenly became chakra and it was all a bright light. Last he had seen, Raz had been directly in the center of that blast, caught dead in the air with no where to go. There was no way he could have gotten out of the way between the last moment he saw and when that laser engulfed his form. Kikuya would come crashing down nearby, only a few feet away from Yatako, her body seemed to take some small amount of the attack but had thankfully escaped without a direct hit. Sato and Izzy were here as well, and the beam had for some reason changed course at the last second, angling upwards and missing all of the buildings in the village. Not much else could be though of though as the secondary effects of the beam came rushing overhead, an avalanche of smoke, debris and wind rushed over the group. If Yatako had not sunk them down into the ground they would have been right in the path of this secondary effect and possibly hurt by pieces of flying debris... ---------- As the orange beam of chakra washed over Raz, he would feel the heat for a moment before he quickly was encapsulated in a small pocket of wind. The rushing swirl of the Rasengan was dispersing the beam directly in front of him like a drill, breaking the chakra left and right and saving the Sennin from certain death. For a few graceful seconds, the Sennin would hand there, drilling towards the Gargantuan through its own beam as the chakra flowed all around him, parting to either side and creating a hell on earth in every direction. There was no escape from here, and only one way to go- forward... ---------- From the outside, Gamabunta, Haruyuki, and those not directly in the path of the beam and secondary smoke debris could see exactly what was going on. As their eyes quickly adjusted to the bright light, they would see a solid beam stretching off into the distance over the rooftops of the village. Raz, Kikuya and a bird yokai had all seemingly been in the beams path, but unless they had been closer they couldn't tell what had happened to any of those three. The beam hung there in mid air for multiple seconds, a clear show of power from the Gargantuan and nothing to scoff at. However, the tail end quickly grew shorter and the beam started to break apart. Lines of chakra broke off and swirled away like a river around a stubborn rock. Rapidly this tail grew shorter until it was at about the point where Raz had last been seen, a spiral of blue could be seen now fighting with the orange, but it was out of control, wild, dangerous... ---------- Raz would notice a widening of his small pocket of wind. His Rasengan was cutting through the chakra but the force was too powerful. Had he been at 100% he might have been able to pull it off and push the beam right back down the damn yokai's throat, but in his current state and practice with the technique he just couldn't hold it together in the face of such raw power. The chakra around him would break and close, bits of sky visible outside for moments at a time until suddenly the orange light around him just stopped, molten orange chakra and his own blue spiralling off and spinning out of control. The Rasengan had lost its form, the orange chakra was churning and boiling over, the pressure was building with an untrackable speed. And then the world went white... ---------- KA-BOOOM!!! The Rasengan and orange beam from the Gargantuan exploded with an astounding force. This new explosion would blow the smoke and debris trail from before away with clean clear air as it forced everything away from it in a radial motion. Raz would be hurled away from the center of the blast, his position directly behind his Rasengan probably being the only thing saving him from being torn to shreds by the residual energy that was trying to escape. He would fly backwards, directly towards the Harakage's Tree and right over the trench that Yatako, Sato, Kikuya and Izzy were now inside. Gamabunta would release his oil attack now, though a bit late as the Yokai reeled from the backlash of the explosion itself. On its head where the three faces had crawled out of earlier to make the spawn that attacked the leviathan, three red faces boiled out and grew back. It seemed that it had regenerated the chakra from the spawn and absorbed it back into itself, allowing it to reclaim what it had lost. Though the Gargantuan was now covered in oil, all five of its smaller faces fired smaller beams of orange fiery chakra at the boss toad, aiming to cut him up like a filet. It was not happy with all of these small being trying to attack it, and its rage was clear from the deafening roar it let out at the boss toad. ooc: For those of you who prefer a visual display of what just happened, please enjoy my crude animation.
Leon Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 (edited) The bird yokai seemed to be repelled by the moment of quick thinking on Ren’s part. All of the needles had been deemed useless and Lilina had escaped an attack through some strange new jutsu. This did not stop Ren, and Yue, from trying to come to her rescue. The result of a joint attack was quite lethal, with Yue literally shattering the bird into pieces. “When was Yue that strong?” Ren whispered into the chamber of his mind. Then an eerie answer greeted Ren as the pieces began to take a life of their own. Fleeing with Yue became the only option as the two dodged the now alive pieces which had turned into a large flock of some reptilian bird hybrid… At least that is what Ren believed the things to be. As the two crashed into the building Ren could only think of the luck between the two of them to have escaped chunks of flesh being ripped from them. Ren instantly barked out, “We have to move as a team Lilina, going off on a lone wolf tangent almost cost me and Yue!” Ren didn’t mean to bark at Lilina and it had taken a far more savage tone than he had ever spoken to people, but they were in a life and death situation and Lilina had decided to ditch the two of them assuming they would follow close behind. When Ren’s wits came about he would see something none of the others could. They were in fact not alone at all. The chakra of people seemingly alive filled the floor they stood in. It was a very peaceful chakra, as if nothing was occurring in the building at all. Yue asked if they evacuated, to which Ren could only answer one thing based on his senses, “No… they’re still here.” Of course this cryptic response would probably prompt questions to which Ren would not be able to answer, but every ounce of his mind was telling him that chakra flowed about from lives that existed here. Ren wanted to take a moment to examine the situation, but the yokai would not allow for it. What seemed like a thousand birds flowed into the room, surrounding the group. Their wings fluttered, creating a powerful buzz across the room. Their movement distorted the space around Team Oto, making visibility nearly impossible for anything beyond the group. Only a handful of jutsu could be used in this situation by Ren, with the one most powerful being unusable due to the proximity of his teammates. Within just a moment Ren would bark out “Back to back everyone, form a triangle!” Running in this situation was completely useless, as all exits were covered by Yokai. A few birds attempted to make a shot at the group, and Ren was on the situation in a heartbeat. He quickly formed the necessary seals and opened his palms. Fuuton (Wind Release): Cyclone Rippers! Type: Ninjutsu [Wind; Wind Specialty] Rank: Chunnin Cost: 24 per strike (5 strike maximum) Damage: 24 per strike Effects: User may launch up to 5 cyclone rippers. For each ripper that misses, the next ripper gains +2% chance to hit (Stacks cumulatively, resets when one hits until another misses). Description: The jutsu is initiated with more than a handful of seals, but relies heavily on the user’s latent wind manipulation abilities. After performing the seals the user moves both hands in the space in front of them, palms open. As if grasping for the air itself, the user suddenly clasps their hands before punching their arms outward. The punch launches super compacted air bubbles at the opponent which create powerful impacts when contact is made. The user is capable of launching the air bubbles multiple times before losing their concentration for the jutsu. Often used as an overwhelming jutsu or a shotgun style attack for evasive opponents. Developed as part of a more dance oriented wind style, the Cyclone Rippers technique was created by Uzumi, Ren. In order to avoid his reliance on the Rezakiri, Ren decides to begin developing his own techniques away from group training. One such technique is the Cyclone Rippers which utilizes a form of unorthodox boxing in order to unleash Ren’s latent wind element against his opponents. Used as a variant of a similar wind technique, shown by Iona Keanu, the Cyclone Rippers has become a technique for Ren to use against faster opponents that require more technique. Used almost to overwhelm, Cyclone Rippers can easily serve all purposes. Within just a second Ren rapidly launched off five bullets of air, which would put a stop in any target it may hit. He launched as many as he could to sway the attack away, while trying not to attract the attention of the rest of the Yokai. Ren then shouted over the blustering wings, “Lilina if you have any large jutsu that could clear the zone without damaging us, now is the time. We move together this time guys!” [566/3011] Edited November 19, 2012 by Leon
Eechi-go Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 The sheer impact with the yokai beam was practically enough to give Raz intense whiplash. Despite the Rasengan being incredibly powerful in it's own right, this laser light show had far more force behind it as well as an increased diameter that practically engulfed the sphere on contact. Yet despite the overwhelming strength of the beam barreling down against him, Raz held steady as the spiraling sphere drilled down through the blast. It continued forward with seemingly no intent on stopping for the longest time until he made it about halfway through the beam. At which point, the momentum of the beam was just too insanely powerful, and Raz simply didn't have the strength to continue despite all of his vast willpower. And yet he still refused to give in, clenching his teeth and exerting as much chakra he could into the Rasengan in a last ditch attempt at overpowering the beast. The chakra was raw and clearly damaging the man, as the microscopic damage began to literally tear a spiral-shaped wound through his hand and all the way down to the tenketsu. It was actually possible to SEE the chakra flowing through his arm as this was happening, and he might have thought of it as a sickening sight if he wasn't so intent on keeping his focus on the attack. Yet even though the damage continued to run down his wrist and arm, he did not falter for a moment no matter how painful all of this was. He would not stop- not as long as Korin and Hei were still out there. Unfortunately, fate refused to give him even a glimmer of hope this day. The explosion was quick and decisive, so much so that the double detonation of the beam and the Rasengan pretty much gave off the appearance of Raz getting completely disintegrated in a blink of an eye due to the low visibility of the weather and the sheer speed at which his body was flung backwards. His body and mind had both given way around the time that it had limply flown over the Harakage tree due to the updraft caused by the wind in the Rasengan. But just before he lost any semblance of consciousness, his thoughts raced to that of his team immediately. In his last waking moment, he mouthed a whispered apology to them for leaving them in such an abrupt fashion, and in such a bad situation. Sadly, they would never hear it. Raz's mind was blank and his consciousness was long gone by the time his body went careening through several buildings. Many of his bones were twisted and battered, if not completely shattered outright form the impact. By the time he had stopped moving, he lay still under a collapsed house, no air coming from his lungs, and no chakra signature emanating from his body to hint that his body hadn't been disintegrated by the blast. Not even he Byakugan would be able to find him. Though the half of the village he landed in remained silent during his passing, one, loud voice pierced through the inner machinations of his mind before he was allowed to rest in peace. "Your death is delayed A pact was made Your debt has not yet been paid" "Rise." --- "That's IT-!!" Gamabunta absolutely lost his mind when he saw Raz get absolutely decimated by the yokai's beam. Though he was taking this battle seriously to begin with, the boss toad finally buckled down and stopped playing on the defensive for the first time. As the miniature yokai let loose their assault, Gamabunta would quickly pounce up through the air to avoid the blasts for the most part, while brandishing his massive katana and deflecting the stray one or two beams that didn't miss him. At first it would seem as though the blade just had reflective properties, but upon closer inspection, it looked as though Gamabunta had channeled his chakra into his sword to reinforce it. Ironically, this was something that Raz had used during their first meeting. "YA' WANT MY CHAKRA YA' NEEDY LITTLE BASTARDS!? THEN EAT-!!" Gamabunta exclaimed, swinging his sword as hard as he could during his descent. He swung way too early to actually hit the things with his sword, but his intent was clear the instant a wave of cutting chakra zoomed down at the creatures in an attempt to dice them up into itty bitty pieces, just like they had intended to do to them. 751 Words 6,027 Total
Rhap Sodos Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 (edited) Perhaps the young Namikaze didn't hear Alba's instructions, seeing as it was far more unlikely that he didn't hear them as opposed to ignoring them, but the boy was most certainly not staying down. Due to the earlier ran and the earth shaken loose by Yatako's technique Izzy peeled more then pulled himself up, long limbs, Chuunin vest and pants coated in mud and grime. Even his face and hair were flecked and smeared with it, though Izzy didn't seem to mind. All things considered, he could deal with a little bit of mud. The massive instrument that Raz had gifted him* had managed to dislodge itself from his back during the Namikaze's latest flight, which was both a relief and cause for concern to the tall Kiri-nin. Thankfully that he hadn't crashed landed on it [both for the sake of his back and instrument], though worried that the gift was still damaged. Strange perhaps, that with the mayhem all around them that Izzy was concerned about how the guitar/harp hybrid fared, but what else was he to do in the situation. Of course, all thoughts of recovering the instrument faded as a bright light flared overhead, dragging Izzy's eyes towards the massive beam that had appeared above his head. That blind panic was back, threatening to engulf his senses. He knew from the unexpected change if angle of the beam that it had avoided hitting the city for the most part, but then dust and wind and the after feeling of intense heat blurred his vision as the debris from the blast, before an earth shattering explosion blew even that again. Izzy stood, staring up at the sky, mouth dry and body rigid. He wasn't a sensor, but he knew from the feel of the explosion and the residual effects that it could have blown what remained of the city into superheated dust, killing anyone it's path. Where was Haruyuki? Where was Raz? *OOC: I actually lost track of this at some point - last reference I wrote has Izzy holding it in his hands, but I'm going to assume he had it on his back. Azure Posted November 28, 2012 Author Posted November 28, 2012 His world ran white. A moment before the earth sank, Yatako could see Raz launching from the sinking trench, carrying his maelstrom of wind infused Rasengan to meet the monstrosity of the Gargantua’s laser beam. Even for him, who could process vast amounts of sensory and mental information quicker than most, the theatrics of the effects happened insanely fast. A women fell behind him, someone who had come with Raz. Sato had taken shelter in the forming trench and as did Izzy who mounted a white furred beast. And then all he could see was the white as the chakra energies collided and exploded. Through the bathing ashen light, he saw a tiny flicker of blue, of which he believed was Raz shooting out away from the Gargantua. The flickering blue was being eaten by the ocean of white and it was ambiguous of whether Raz was alive or not. “RAZ! NOO-“ Yatako yelled as sound itself folded behind the light, choking out his words and replacing fine air with impurities. The intensity of the light was so extreme that he had to deactivate his bloodline and shield his eyes while a hurricane of ash, debris and soot washed over the mouth of the trench. The bright world had turned into a smoky darkness with rain still spitting on them like trash. The temperature fluxuated a bit, but the chilliness that undertoned the ringing in his ears stung far more than any blade his flesh had tasted. It wasn’t a physical aliment, but that didn’t mean it was any less bothersome. Before his eyes he saw the very possible ending of a Hachinin and the haunting roar of the great yokai demeaning their efforts and conquering it. The world had known the strength of the Hacinin, but to this thing they were but flies. They were mortals once again, small beings in the face of the ancients. ------------------------- “Trimmers are kinda hard to come by…” Taiyoutaka replied under his breath, though feeling a shade embarrassed. Of course he didn’t want to hurt the toad boss, but telling a creature who knew nothing of shortening his impressive and sharp claws that he should tone down on his royalty could have been taken as an insult. Luckily it hadn’t and the hawk king dropped the massive toad back on the ground to they could begin to incinerate this eyesore. “I’ll charge up my own laser!” The hawk snapped as he flapped is massive wings to take to the sky again. Sitting in one spot would just be a mistake, especially when this thing could fire its laser and blow up half a village. The massive bird was about to unleash attack on the oil lathered yokai, but the explosion of Rasengan meeting Yokaidama kicked up a massive wave of dirt and air that would make it hard to target the thing, lest casualties get in the way. The explosion rocked the bird off his air current, while flames began to bubble from his golden beak. Curling his wings together, the Hawk King dropped only meters above the Gargantua and unfurled his wings, sending a forceful current of air that cleared the dust clouds and opened a venue for the flame. The little spawns on the yokai’s head were too distracted by Gamabunta to see the ignition in the hawk’s mouth. "Our friends aren't to be eaten." .:Pyroclasmic Tempest:. [聖霊の燃えている本質] Jerking his head downward, his feathers began to shimmer gold, red and orange as if Taiyoutaka were the sun itself. A churning orb of fire was focused in its beak as he released a twin stream of fire that wrapped around itself like a double helix. When the streams collided around the Gargantua, they formed a pillar of fire that would feed off of the oil and create a massive fireball of the yokai and a scarring mark on the land for some time to come. The heat in the area would skyrocket as a wave of warm air pushed out through the village. The pillar to the heavens rose into the sky until it was lost in the storm clouds, but not without blowing a hole through it. ------------------------- There was only a twinge of despair in the Hokage’s mind. It was instead overrun with a fuel that was not hope, but rather the instinctual fire when one is backed into a corner. If humans could not achieve victory this day, then it put a grave damper on their ability to survive as a species. Who knew if the rest of the yokai were able to create this polymerized form? The concept of losing this battle felt oddly strange- defeat of this magnitude stirred something deep in Yatako he hadn’t felt since he was stripped of his Konoha brethren, leaving him alone in the face of a sea of death. He and Raz were friends and allies, but they weren’t the closest of friends. They had a mutual respect for one another and shared a sagely mind and a general desire to help people. Although it was never voiced, Yatako felt like he could count on the Oto-nin and that meant more than he could voice. He couldn’t let syaoran down, who entrusted him to handle to Yokai. Every moment was probably hell to him, caught between sitting back and interfering. His mind flashed to his daughter and anguish needled him. If they were unable to best this thing, then she surly would fall into danger. As a vow to his late wife, Yatako swore to protect her and swore to his God to do the same. It was this state of uncertainty that would turn the level minded Hyuuga bold. The conventional means of wailing on the giant wasn’t working. He had a theory, perhaps he could turn theoretical into practical. He was either going to seem like a genius or a fool and right about now he didn’t care. A giant gust of wind blew open the storm of debris clouding the mouth of the trench. Yatako fueled life to his Byakugan again. Sight was back. Things were clear. Still dismal. “A lot of little lasers and better than being caught in one big beam. Divide and distract it if you think you’re quick enough. I need everyone to contribute, even if it’s to expand your chakra in this trench and attract it!” The Hokage commanded. This wasn’t the time to argue what right he had to command. The fact was he had a plan, if no one obeyed he couldn’t punish them, but they sure as hell would be a lot less coordinated. Through an unseen process, Yatako would excite his chakra system to run specific patterns through his brain and accelerate chakra at certain tenketsu that would work as if he opened one of the Eight Celestial Gates. His muscles bulged slightly and chakra would begin to dribble from his tenketsu as the Hyuuga Jyuuken would make a classic appearance. His hands becan to shimmer like becons of blue light as the chakra clumped over his gauntlets. He had to get in close, which could be the problem. He was hoping he would have enough cover fire to sneak in and eviscerate the yokai. Clapping his hands together in a seal, the Hyuuga would be launched from an earthen spike up through the trench and into the air and back into the fray. He landed on a shattered building and began to tumble through the broken village, making a complicated effort to get towards the Gargantua. Orange lasers were spewing at Gamabunta, who was parrying with his sword, black chains were breaking the soil skin and a torrent of fire was raining from above. Soon heat would envelope the village center and an inferno would blast before his eyes. In its wake he would use every bit of the speed he had to close the distance between him and the goliath. It was the perfect cover and catalyst to attempt to crumble the monster. Maneuvering his way behind the Gargantua, Yatako leapt off of an outcropping building towards the back of the yokai, into the pillar of fire. He wouldn’t come out of this unburnt, but if he wasn’t attuned to the fire element, this would be worse. Now he let loose the chakra in his hands and threw the brunt of his power into this attack. The chakra around his hands ignited into flames and merged with the pillar of fire. His hands would rain like hammers on the creature, displaying the finest at the Hyuuga family had produced. .: Hakke: Nihyaku Gojuu Roku :. (Eight Trigrams; Divine 256-Hit Palm Strike) Using his Jyuuken, Yatako would manipulate the fire, compress it and when his hands hit the skin of the Gargantua, he would release it straight into the body of the yokai as if he were striking tenektsu on a human. This process would take longer than it did on a human, but his furry of attacks were far from slow. With each strike, the pillar of fire was being plugged into the yokai along with a heaping pile of chakra. Ordinarily, trying to seal teketsu on a creature that didn’t have any was completely silly so naturally he should not have thought of it. However, what Yatako wanted to test was if he could keep the consistency of his chakra when implanted into the Gargantua and use the pillar of fire to create little veins inside of the yokai with each strike. This would create a makeshift chakra circulatory system of the two chakras. Of course, he could be completely wrong and just be feeding the thing with more chakra. Or he could be slowly plugging its access to chakra. Or it could blow up. He really wouldn’t know until he was finished. But he did know that the fire was eating up his robes and singing his hair. The heat blazing across his skin wouldn’t leave him with a kind complexion after this for a little while. Although grueling, he couldn’t help but plunge on in hopes in preventing any more casualties… [4672] ••• To say he felt cheated was putting it lightly, but to say he beat himself up was again far from the truth. Haruyuki chuckled, since he could tell that he was fighting a force unlike any other. It was a grim chuckle as he saw motes of chakra floating whimsically back to the creature of chaos, wondering if destroying the spawns did anything to the creature, at all. He of course, planned to adapt and exact retribution, far from letting his mind throw in the towel. He also was one stubborn son of a bitch. With a quick glance he could tell that Alba had carried Izzy somewhere else, most likely less danger. Perching on a thimble of ice he crafted to catch a quick survey of the battle, he could see a large hole in the ground and a freakin’ huge mass of chakra in the air. Good ol’ Raz, somehow managing to spew a Rasengan even when tested to his limits. Haruyuki could barely imagine the thoughts going through Raz right now. He crossed his arms, observing that in just a few seconds the yokai’s beam would go off and Raz would meet it head on like a drill. Suddenly a huge light broke through his vision and blinded him. With his left hand, the Hisame popped open a bottle of ink and let it spill on his hand before dropping the vial to the ground, letting it shatter. He shielded his eyes with the black goo to protect his retinas against the terrible flash. Up to this point, he wasn’t worried. But when he tightened his vision, he could see something peeling through the tides of orange energy until it shattered. It exploded. And a dot went flying. Raz. “Oh, shit no.” A pang of worry rushed through his veins, knowing Raz was far from at his best. On instinct alone, Haruyuki extended his hand and suddenly from thin air a sword appeared. It was larger than a dagger, but shorter than a katana. The short sword’s tip came apart in Haruyuki hand as he scribbled something on the scrollwork of the sword. It began to shimmer a fine blue and white before puking black ink into the ground. ≈|:: Sumiton: Kusari no Abaddon ::|≈ (Ink Release: Chains of Abaddon) The black would disappear into the ground, soak in and boil up beneath the yokai. The puddle beneath the creature gave birth to swarms of locusts and great, thick black chains that ruptured from the ground. The chains were bristling with thorns. The hooked chains were trying to bind the Garguanta and subdue it, but whether they could catch the limbs of the yokai or even if they had the strength to subdue the thing was another question entirely. But it didn’t matter to Haruyuki in that moment. Typically the ‘mission first’, no distractions general of the Kirigakure elite, Haruyuki zipped through the battlefield and stormed towards Raz. An orange laser that had missed Gamabunta zapped Haruyuki on the shoulder, bursting open his shoulder with burns and some blood. The graceful Hisame stumbled, but did not delay, nor looked back. He followed the trace of his memory to where he thought Raz went, although it was incredibly difficult to detect. There was a sea of buildings in the path beyond the Harakage’s tree. He had half a mind to call out to Alba, but refused to risk Izzy, even for this. He tried to deduce where Raz went through the buildings, through the houses, but with every passing second the emotional turmoil was mounting. He was losing his cool demeanor. Although he wasn’t a sensor, he was familiar with Raz’s chakra signature and he couldn’t find a lick of it. His best friend. Gone. Maybe. He wouldn’t let him tell himself that just yet. Not yet. He wasn’t willing to accept that Raz was lost in this rubble. A flash of the both of them in Otogakure getting drunk, sharing a laugh while Fubiki and Korin probably wanted to scold them ran through the back of his eyes. “Not yet buddy, WE’RE NOT STORMING HEAVEN YET!” Haruyuki cried out as his fingers began to bleed from sifting through the rubble frantically. If he couldn’t find Raz, he would have to do the next best thing. He surmised he was in the vicinity, so with the help of his bloodline, Haruyuki let loose his chakra to flood any particle of water near with revitalizing energy- with his own chakra. If Raz still had a body, still had blood then hopefully it would drink in the chakra he sent out and bring the man to stability. The chakra he let out may have been sufficient to attract the yokai. His circulatory system pumped out blue and white chakra into the ground like a flood and he could feel the onset of fatigue claw at him with the amount of energy he let loose. He couldn’t let Raz go…not yet. Death was not his friend. [2753] ••• Transfixed on the budding silence, Lilina was slightly startled to see Yue pop in behind her. All she could think about was how convinced Raz was to find inhabitance, but nothing here suggested that there was anyone, alive or dead. They were alone in a village- a population of under twenty ninja in a hidden village, it just felt wrong. Even for a small village. It took her an extra second for her to register Yue and another second to reply. “No…” She replied sadly, although she wanted to add a piece of hopefulness. She wanted to hold on to one sliver of possibility for Raz, but she just couldn’t find it. “They had no reason to…these things would have already torn up the village and something would look in disarray. All I see is a home without people.” It was as if they left on vacation, except for the beforehand cleaning. If there was an evacuation , wouldn’t someone be monitoring the village so that they could move back in? Would a few of the black-opt shinobi be running about? There was no sign that the yokia dropped out of the sky and attacked people like in Metropolis. The only difference was the life was drained out of the grass and trees, like a fire had washed through…forgetting to leave ash. She wondered if Raz only sent them here to stay out of the way of the huge yoaki. It was possible, they were, after all, just new Chuunin. Or maybe his desperation made him want to believe people were still here. His wife. His kid. But there were no signs. But when Ren barked at Lilina, even if it was unintentional it was probably all the wrong thing to do. The solemn concern she had for the missing people had all but wiped away to a wash of fiery rage. That was it, she was sick of being yelled out for doing something- anything at all. NOTHING she did was right, apparently and in her fit of anger she let loose. She was ready to beat him bloody and make sure he could never talk again, “WAS I SUPPOSED TO WAIT FOR YOU TO MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND AND TELL ME WHEN I COULD MOVE? I WAS ABOUT TO GET SKEWERED YOU ASSHOLE. YOU CRITICIZED AT ME FOR MAKING A FLARE TO ATTRACT THEM, WHAT DO YOU FREAKIN’ THINK MOVING AS A TEAM WOULD DO? A TEAM IS COORDINATION, NOT BUTTHUMPING ON THE BATTLEFIELD AS MUCH AS YOU-“ Her rant was cut short by the quick succession of shattering windows and a cascading black flood of wings and feathers pouring through the windows. She was too pissed off to be following them and actually forgot that they were being tailed for a moment. Whether it was her screaming or their chakra that attracted the insane amount of birds here, she assumed she would be blamed for that too. Because oh so perfect Ren could do nothing wrong. To her the “voice of reason” act he played was just another windbag in her face and currently she wanted more to sock Ren. Not these birds. Cursing under her breath, she didn’t hesitate to follow into suit by forming a triangle with their backs to one another. If she thought it was a dumb idea, she wouldn’t have done it but she valued the strategy in it. She wasn’t trying to a be a lone wolf, she was trying to be part of a team and she still had every intention to keep working on that goal, as long as it was smart. If she had time to finish her rant, she would have yelled back at him that she thought Yue was going to be the one giving orders. Luckily there wasn’t time for that sharp banter. With the birds buzzing about like retarded chicken fish, she couldn’t tell if they were being dumb or there was something coordinated in their…fluttering. And WHY WAS THERE SO MANY NOW? The five bullets of air that Ren shot out were a start, but that was like mining a tray of ice from an iceberg. It was only minusculy helpful. She quickly ran a cost-benefit analysis and realized something that Ren seemed like he didn’t. “You think I can promise anything in this? I got one, but don’t be a priss if it bites you. We gotta get through these guys before they start acting smart!” In reality, she knew it was a pretty high chance that her large jutsu would hit Yue and Ren and maybe even herself, but if they wasted minutes on end chinking away these birds, they would tire and risk the birds getting coordinated. She thought the best approach was to try and finish them in one large swoop. She knew there was no way they could get out this without being scratched, bruised and bleeding. It just wasn’t realistic. These weren’t normal enemies that would yield out of morality, she didn’t really knew WHAT they would do but she did NOT want to find out. She slapped together a couple of seals and bent down, slamming her hands on the ground. Hebi Wana:. ~ + (Serpent Snare) + A rush of black chakra rushed from her and puddle on the floor. The puddle formed into little snake like chakra zigzags and launched out of the ground. The chakra serpents even sounded like they were hissing too. They erupted from the ground, trying to hook onto the birds, trying to grasp onto any gill or feather they could and drag the birds to the ground. Some would probably even try and bite Yue or Ren, which was unavoidable. The technique wasn’t that powerful that it would knock them unconscious, especially now that her bloodline was sealed. They would, however hopefully thin the lines of birds and at the very least slow them down so Yue could tear their faces off. [3570]
wolfnin Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 (edited) Whether or not it was an omen for the upcoming shit-storm that was about to occur, Sato listened carefully as Teiru spoke over the earpiece that was still active. His eyes widened slightly as the information that was given to him, the fact that the oto-nin who had earlier chewed him out for being a foreigner was related to the Harakage. "SHIT," was the only world that crossed his mind before the second part of the message came. Immediately Sato's mind flashed backwards in chronological order, quickly recalling the events that took place. "Before the yokai appeared, there was this old man who wore a mahogany cloak, white beard with a wrinkled, aged face, and gray eyes. The words he spoke were 'Orhalo forgive' and then vanished-" His voice would cut off as he spoke into the earpiece as the world above him shifted into an orange sky. Everything had passed by so quickly while he recalled earlier memories that Sato was unsure of what had occurred around him, except for the fact that now there were several people within the trench and the oto-nin had disappeared. As the world turned orange and white above him, Sato instinctively shut his eyes in response to the bright flash of light accompanied by the sound of soot and debris engulfing the sky above them. If fate was supposed to be their guide, then they had been given front row seats into the maw of hell. The light show from hell had ended only to give way to the sight of a lone figure flung into the distance and away from his field of vision. Despite all their efforts, all their determination, the beast still would not crumble. It was truly a sickening feeling to come across the thought that even with some of the most powerful shinobi he knew and seen, the yokai had flung away like pest. A maniacal chuckle escaped from Sato's lips as he dug into his pouch and retrieved his Kumogakure headband. It was hidden to protect his identity during the stealth mission, but the parameters had changed, and more importantly now was not the time for secrecy. The secured comfort of his headband against his forehead, a new resolve sparked deep within him. Lightning crackled from his feet towards his hands, within an instant lightning roared towards the sky from Sato's body with a vibrant display of lights. The remaining lightning danced in a circular pattern around his limbs and body, while forming a thin yellow aura around him. The kumogakure shinobi mustered a faint smile as the hokage gave commands. The situation had turned dreary, but they would not go without a fight. "Understood. I've got you covered." Sato responded as he gathered the remaining wind from the previous just and used it to hoist himself above the trench and onto the roof of the tallest building that was available. Immediately, he placed his fingers in the form of a cross to form a clone. Although the worst threat was in front of him, Sato didn't recall destroying the bird yokai that he had fought earlier. This meant that if he was going to be a large chakra source, the bird would be heading in his direction. "Cover me. If you see that bird thing. Take it out." His clone would nod in response, as it faced the opposite direction, scouting for any sign of the enemy. If they could bring down this yokai, not only would that save their lives and those around them, but perhaps it would free Kumogakure from being blamed for this atrocity. With a deep breath, Sato raised his hand upwards while his fingers pointed towards the heavens. It was a technique as old as time, one used by Raikou, and it was a technique he had used back in Kumogakure not to long ago. Lightning descended downwards at first bolt by bolt and then in several clumps of bolts as Sato channeled the lightning into his chakra and body using his bloodline. The aura around him danced violently while he increased his chakra in order to facilitate the lightning more efficiently through his body and to act as a lure for the large gargantuan to focus its attention on. Of course this left him slightly vulnerable for the moment, but it would increase the strength of his lightning jutsus significantly. "Come at me bro." Cloudnine Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Kikuya’s senses were overwhelmed by the few seconds that marked the demon’s onslaught. Blinded, deafened, and numbed to oblivion she fell into the ditch along with a great downpour of rubble. She struggled to breathe through it all, not just the massive uprising of powdered buildings that now floated as unsettling motes of dust, but through her throat that had seemingly been clenched shut by the bird monstrosity. Darkened blood oozed from those vicious bites to complement the seared skin of her front half that peeked out from crinkled scraps of blackened clothing. Debris coated her inside and out, staining her open cuts and burns, her dampened skin, her hair... and it lined her gasping mouth and throat to coagulate with what little saliva she had left to suffocate her slowly. She had landed by the feet of the Hokage, whose quick thinking had likely saved the few visitors of Kusagakure. It was just maybe a second earlier that Raz existed as a faint shadow darting toward the demon, then a flickering blaze of chakra before the explosion ensued and scattered the world into a second bout of chaos. Kikuya’s vision went dark as rubble filled in over her prone form, unable to see the Hachinin fly over the crater and possibly to the moon. However, it was apparent that just like the bird demon annihilated in the blast, Raz’s chakra signature no longer existed. The Oto-nin spared barely a second to pity the man’s demise... she had no benefit from his survival. Her concern mainly focused on herself at this point, half submerged in all manner of wreckage, barely breathing as her own parched tongue threatened to choke her. Jesus fucking Christ, she inwardly swore, adrenaline finally catching up to her as she realized what just happened within those instants. She was alive. It was out of deprivation then- of life and air- that caused Kikuya to begin thrashing her limbs through the debris, hopefully upwards. Her body bore remarkable fortitude, perhaps compensating for her genetic anomaly that made her physique resistant to healing jutsus. Air. Air. The first breath was so painful that Kikuya’s limbs spasmed to give out again as soot and its inherent dryness found their way from her throat to deeper into her lungs. She inhaled again in short, not-enough sips as she licked her lips to try to generate some moisture in her mouth. Achingly, the woman forced herself to swallow a mouthful of the dust, feeling the massive lump sluggishly move down her trachea while grazing her insides every inch down. At last, she managed abrasive yet regular heaves for air as she unsteadily sought the statuses of her allies. Karuna? Kikuya’s sensory abilities netted around her estimated whereabouts, finding her sound parasite dazed but well. Karuna’s stature stood much more fragile than her host’s and required more time to recuperate. As she found her feet, Kikuya’s body thrummed and trembled visibly as part of her own coping mechanism against damage. The sound eater agitated the sound stored within her chest cavity, imitating the cat’s purr that long held debate over its ability to promote healing. Perhaps it wasn't so much the healing of the sound but the outlet for the woman to recenter her concentration that stood as the mechanism for the method. The Hokage’s commands rang clear over the calming din, though the woman did not respond immediately. Rather, she took her time to hobble around the ditch, collecting her two weapons that had tumbled in with her at a quite leisurely pace. Strapping the sickle to her side again, Kikuya hefted the massive tuning fork that served as her weapon of choice. “Satooooo,” she crooned half-heartedly as the Kumo-nin began to channel lighting to strike from his person. “Thanks for the help.” The woman had siphoned some of Sato’s lightning through the tines of her weapon as well as her primary chakra affinity. Not being skilled with ninjutsu meant she couldn’t display elemental force of high magnitude, but her expertise in genjutsu meant she had no problem molding and bending chakra into a fine art. Her own chakra fed the lightning she’d caught in the tuning fork to match the form of Sato’s in hopes of extending the diversion through herself. With that, Yatako had charged towards the demon while Sato bounded backwards. Kikuya followed the Hokage in stride, bounding out of the pit to nimbly dash underfoot the Gargantua. She danced between the demon’s feet to occasionally sting its joints with a medley of the sound and lightning. Kikuya aimed to ‘herd’ the demon’s movements the way dogs nipped the heels of sheep and divert him away from vulnerable targets, preferably without getting trampled. Hopefully, taking risky refuge beneath the demon's belly offered shelter from being targeted with another beam.
1Q84 Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Yue actually grinned as Ren came bursting in and started scolding Lilina knowing from personal experience how well that was going to go over. Maybe it was a sign that the god damn crazy his teammates seemed to have was contagious as he found the mental countdown to Lilina's typical pyschotic bitch breakdown could be timed pretty fucking funny. But then Ren something really weird about how the people were still here and that was enough to cause the skin on the back of Yue's neck to prickle and the ball of tension to return to his stomach at the reminder of why they were here and what looked like wasn't. "And hat the hell do you mean, they're still he-." Yue's sentence was cut off as the something exploded through the windows in a swirling black mass of bullshit that looked like some twisted crossmating of a bird and fish but Yue really didn't have time to examine it closer than that as some of them started coming after them and with a yelp Yue threw up his hands to guard his head as some of them began to bite at his arms and body. Yue didn't spare time to argue with Ren or even say something sarcastic though he was swearing vehemently under his breath at no one in particular. "Gone my ass, there is plenty of shit here willing to bust through windows and chew on us or blow shit up." If he managed to get out of this god damn situation alive and in one piece the first thing he was going to do was learn some ninjutsu even if he had to get some crazy Kiri-nin to teach him water techniques because anything was better then standing side to side with his teammates unable to do anything but swat at the damn things. Yue had the scroll that Raz had given him but that asshole had said to only use it if they had no other option and based on the crazy shit they had been put through between training and the exams if the red-haired fuck was advising caution Yue would damn well listen to it. He had no idea what the fuck it would do these monters or hell, to him or Ren and Lilina and he wasn't feeling desperate enough to test his luck especially luck that came on a string from Raz. Of course there was something else that Raz had given him that was a bigger than his hands and feat and looked strudy and sharp enough to take a beating and giving him. Grabbing the guitar that he had been dragging around since the swirly-eyed bastard had given to him despite the fact that Yue had never even held a god damn instrument let alone learn how to play one and he fucking knew Yue didn't know any sound techniques but like hell he was going to stand here with his thumb up his ass, again. Weilding the thing like a baseball bat or a broadside hammer Yue used it to swing at any of the damn things that close enough sending them flying with enough force to a least daze if not kill them. Ren was using his typical wind shit that Yue knew was coming but he sure as hell didn't expect Lilina's technique to start hissing and nipping at his god damn ankles. "Fuckin', really Lilina?" Yue snapped between swings trying to kick the damn things away from him. Yue doubted they were doing anything more then holding their ground seeing as there was enough of these things to block his vision which meant they weren't getting out of this hellhole anytime soon. "I know I said we should be inconspicuous and shit but I fuckin' hope that ain't the best you can do." Yue said to neither of his teammates in particular still using his make shift weapon to bat the weird bird fish things away. Considering that Yue had woken up in a god damn hospital bed because he had pushed himself too hard the night before and even a bath in that disgusting ass toad oil to make him functional he was hoping that Lilina and Ren could pull their weight enough that he didn't have to rely on using the Gates to get out of this shit situation even if it meant depending on Ren and Lilina to get them out of here. Yue didn't know what would happen to his body if he put it underneath that kind of stress again so soon and he ws secretly praying that he wouldn't have to find out.
cntrstrk14 Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 ooc: As usual, if I missed or misunderstood something your character did, please PM me so I can correct it. I try to keep up with everything, but sometimes I miss a subtlety. Moments of dead silence filled in air between each attack, broken only by the rhythmic beatings of water on buildings, stone and dirt. After the beam attack had finished, the village felt dead silent for a moment, debris rushing back towards the demon as the pockets of air being super heated and cooled caused strange currents to wash over, even driving the rain to swing in one direction and then another. For a few moments, the rain had stopped, instantly evaporated as the laser cut a rift between the clouds and the ground. It would only take a few heartbeats for the downpour to continue however, and with it came the renewed assaults of the Gargantuan's foes. Gamabunta was the first to attack, the Gargantuan was already covered in oil from its previous attack that caused the rain to be repelled from the beast, striking the slick oil and sliding down quickly without absorbing. Below the beast, the ground was being struck by huge ravines of water mixed with oil that was falling from the beast's body. Luckily, it was not causing any flooding as the hole the beast had made in the ground earlier was causing a drain pipe of sorts. Gamabunta swung its knife, and the large beast made no attempt to dodge. Perhaps it could not comprehend the intricacy of the attack, the relative intelligence of the beast had not fully been tested or revealed. Either way, the blade of wind would strike the beast right across the face, causing it to howl in pain as black goo flooded out in all directions from the slice, leaving a scar across its face from belly to brow. “GRAWWWWWWWWW!!!!!” Though the beast did not give up ground, merely leaning back as the impact struck it, its shrieks would only rise louder as it was suddenly struck with a molten sun of fire from Taiyoutaka. Almost instantly its entire body went up in flames like a straw man. The intensity of the fire could be felt even all the way back at the Harakage's tree, the air radiating a great heat that would dry clothing withing a few moments. The beast's shrieks would grow as it turned and swung its tail, moving air with great force behind it and sending flicks of fire and oil in all directions in the square it stood in. If it was not for the rain, some structures may have caught fire from this, but luckily all the patches landed either extinguished or on stone where they would burn for another minute or two before being extinguished. The oil and water that had fallen below the Yokai erupted as well, causing the entire square to burn in an inferno. On the beast's head, two of the five faces would be pulled inwards[1], boiling and soon being covered by smooth black skin where they use to be. Confusion and fury wrapped in the Gargantuan, he slammed feet as he tried to find a place to stand that was not on FIRE. His skin burned and boiled, rotting away in clumps of black goo that fell on the paving stone beneath. His large eye turn towards the bird and the toad. The fires on his body started to shrink, slowly. With his focus on them, the giant ring that floated above his back started to rotate, slowly. But that was not the biggest of their concerns as the beast's ire was turned back on them. With an less controlled but much faster blast, the beast would fire first three beams all around Taiyoutaka, trapping it, and then a larger beam from its mouth right at the bird. The large one was not as powerful as the one it had charged and fired over the village a few moments earlier, this one was fired in what seemed like haste. A surprisingly smart tactic given the beast's state of being on fucking fire. The bird summon would either need to dive into one of the three beams or take the large one directly. With a quick turn of his head, the Gargantuan would begin to charge the same four beams at Gamabunta. Haruyuki's locusts and thorns would begin to crawl up the beast's limbs, but between the fire and blade attack it seemed hardly to notice. It was at about this time, as the fires on the Gargantuan were shrinking, literally being absorbed into the black goo that was its skin, that Yatako would break out of the village buildings and towards the beast. It had not seen the Hokage coming as all its furor was directed towards the large beast summons. But as the Hokage struck the yokai's side, it would howl in pain and veins of fire and chakra webbed out through its innards. With a spin of its head, it would release the four beams it was charging for Gamabunta into the village, slicing through buildings[2] and roads in the process at random. At this point, the ring that had begun to spin on the beasts back was moving at an increasing speed, flickers of sparks and fire falling off the golden shape. The beast slammed a hand on the ground fiercely, sending a wave of chakra outwards and bending down low on all fours. The ring was now completely horizontal and with an sharp intake of breath, the Gargantuan would suddenly extinguish all of the fire on its body, drawing it inside of its skin. The ring was spinning quickly now, cutting the air with its spinning sound as it reached a speed of critical mass. With a suddenly, and massive, explosion the ring would pulse out fire in all directions. The eruption was like the ground zero of a huge bomb going off, the wave of air and fire that spread out in a ring in all directions would soar overhead of the entire village, sending debris and heat everywhere. The two summons, who were unfortunately taller than the building tops, would find themselves on a collision course with this ring of fire and wind. For a second time in the last minute the rain would stop again as the ring passed overhead, spreading another wave of intense heat over everyone in the village as it passed. Some taller poles and treetops would be clean cut at the ring passed, cleaving through everything it touched and sending pieces of burning lumber towards the streets below. The locust from Haruyuki's attack would be instantly incinerated. Yatako would be able to see that his attack had some type of an effect on the beast. For a moment it looked as if it had gone as planned, the attacks spidering out from the strike points to form a network. However, the chakra that made it would fade rather quickly, drawn in until they could not be distinguished from the chakra of the beast itself. However, the burns all along its skin from Taiyoutaka early attack, the scar across its face from Gamabunta and the points where Yatako had struck had not completely healed. There was stills scaring, apparently this beast was not entirely invulnerable from powerful chakra based attacks. ---------- Kikuya and Sato would be sad to find that despite their great amount of chakra generation, the beast seemed to pay them no heed. Summons and Gargantuan raged on in their fight that was beyond human scale, both rising above the village rooftops without a care for the ants that ran between the stones at their feet. As the events of the summons and beast took place, the beast lighting on fire and then eventually erupting in a ring of explosive fire, the two would find themselves concerned with something more... imminent. From the ground on either side of them, the ground would erupt as two of the Gargantuan hand spawns came out of the ground[1], ready to fight. The first, to their right, would fire a thin beam of orange and white fire light towards Sato, sweeping to try and cleave him in half. The second, from their left, would lunge at Kikuya. Fingers spread out, it would try and grasp the young woman in its hand shape that was almost twice her height. The attack was quick and came from unexpected sides, apparently the chakra they gave off had not completely gone unnoticed. Neither of the hands seemed to pay any attention to Sato's clone who was looking in the opposite direction or Izzy. [ Gargantua Spawn] ---------- In the small building where team Oto was being assaulted by piranha birds, Lilina's snake attack seemed to be getting work done. The snakes snapped at the birds, pulling them out of the air with wings flapping as they crashed against the stone floor. The room was still dark, the only light coming from the broken windows on either side of them. Ren's wind punches and Yue's guitar swings took a few birds with them, but even if they fell to the ground unmoving or flew away in a burst of feathers, there were always ten more behind them. There had to be hundreds of these birds flapping around trying to nip the team apart and causing cuts and bits all over as they tried. "I know I said we should be inconspicuous and shit but I fuckin' hope that ain't the best you c-" Yue would be cut off mid sentence as a bright beam of orange and white light sliced above their heads on an angle from one side of the room to the other[2]. Just as quickly as it had appeared it was gone, and the bird like yokai were flapping even MORE frantically, if that could be believed. A heartbeat after the beam disappeared the entire roof groaned and started to slide, the two stories above the team sliding along the wall and falling off the building like a cleanly sliced piece of bamboo. It only took a few moments before rain started falling in on the team, the light of the sky flooding in and the birds flying off into the sky and swooping back down. The team would have some debris fall on them and a ton of dust, but for the most part they would be unharmed. With the birds scattered though, there was a path through them. From where they fought, they would be able to see a straight line to a door at the back of the shop and there was a momentary break in the swarm of birds to reach it. Just as soon as they could see their way out though, the two stories above them that had slid away struck the building next door and large pieces of stone and brick started to fall down on the team and birds as fiercely as the rain. A bird yokai right next to Ren would be squashed by a brick the size of his torso, a single wing flapping once as it was turned into a pancake against the pavement. ---------- As Haruyuki tried to find Raz in the rubble that he had been thrown into, he would have only the faintest warning as an attacker would swoop out of the air. The bird yokai that had been fighting Sato had followed the Kiri Hachinin across the village, hoping to find easier prey than it had before. From its cloak would extend fierce claws, looking to rip into the man's flesh. ---------- Yokai Tracker Gargantuan: City Square [Yatako, Terrick, Mizujin, Gamabunta, Taiyoutaka] ○ Spawn 1: Gargantuan's Head ○ Spawn 2: Hole in Ground [sato, Kikuya, Izzy] ○ Spawn 3: Gargantuan's Head ○ Spawn 4: Hole in Ground [sato, Kikuya, Izzy] ○ Spawn 5: Gargantuan's Head Bird 1: Building Remains [Ren, Yue, Lilina] Bird 2: Building Remains [Ren, Yue, Lilina] Bird 3: Destroyed (Kikuya) Bird 4: Far Side of Village [Raz and Haruyuki]
1Q84 Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 this post is short but i wanted to give azure and leon a chance to react with their characters Yue froze as he was cut off midsentance as a some sort of beam sliced through the room. "Oh, that can't be fuckin' good." It took a hardbeat for something to happen and half a second longer for Yue to realize what the hell was happening as the building groaned and suddenly wasn't one piece anymore. His arms were geting sore from batting away at the damn birds and it certainly didn't help that it was doing fuck all at cutting down their numbers or stopping them from attacking. As soon as he batted a handful away the air was filled with more of them clawing and biting at Yue's flesh drawing blood and more curses from the man hoping that the damn things weren't diseased or posionous but of course now he had to deal with the god damn building falling over. "Annnd, that's our fuckin' cue." Yue said slinging the guitar haphazerdly on his back knowing that if they were going to get out of this building they had to go now even if he had to drag their asses out of here. No time to think or ask dumbass questions. There were too many of these god damn birds for them to deal with in the first place and now they had to deal with the god damn ceiling coming down on their heads. If they were lucky the crashing bricks and debris would take out a good porition of the birds and they'd be able to mop up the rest but considering how the rest of this day had been going Yue knew that luck probably wasn't on their side. First things first though and for the moment he'd settle for getting out of here alive. "Move. Move now." Yue ordered shoving both Lilina and Ren in the direction of the back door damn well ready to toss them half the distance if he had to. Sweat and dust was causing the numerous cuts and scratches on his skin and face to burn and something hit his shoulder hard enough to cause a curse and short stumble but he tried to ignore these minor aches in pains and focused on getting the hell out of this death trap.

Cloudnine Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Kikuya was about to follow through with her charge towards the demon, but halted immediately as the two massive summoned beasts unleashed an attack onto her target. The risks far outweighed any benefits the woman had for closing the range between her and those giants. To play some trivial distraction that could tickle the demon’s feet did not warrant dancing through flames, let alone be crushed under the belly of that toad. Just as she was contemplating another opportunity to move within range and select an angle of attack, the demon gathered another massive amount of that dark chakra and launched a devastating halo of fire overhead. Still-sensitive eyes blinded again, Kikuya braced her legs against the earth to ride out the quaking when suddenly a presence behind her pounced. The woman hardly had the time to react when a large palm engulfed her form. Before the digits finally closed in on her limbs through, Kikuya was able to rapidly manipulate her massive tuning fork weapon to catch against the spawn’s palm and fingers. Buying some wiggle room through that method for a few seconds, the Oto-nin escaped through the cage of fingers with achy bruising along her joints. A brief scan of the sensor revealed Sato was in the same situation, and that she likely wouldn’t receive any aid against this adversary. Karuna however, revived from her prone state, and from the safety of the empty building she took shelter in, recast the illusion which sent her host into a frenzy. Kikuya’s mind once again fell into that battle daze, but this time one of cold calculations instead of frenzied bloodlust. Kikuya’s first plan was to check the spawn’s mobility. If she could keep those fingers out of range while battering the digits down, it would be only an issue of time until the spawn crumbled. However, if the hand stemming from the ground was in fact not rooted, she’d have to reconsider her plan of attack. With the kusarigama in hand again, the sickle and chain weapon served as the only ranged options the woman had. Kikuya kept herself as far as possible that still allowed for the chain’s reach, which roughly estimated to be as tall as the demonic hand. Spinning the weighted end of the chain, she tossed it at the hand in hopes of ensnaring some digits. If it was successful, the sound eater would proceed with a full bodied pull to try and break the hand at the wrist.
Azure Posted December 11, 2012 Author Posted December 11, 2012 [Ooc; Sorry, today was the only day since you've posted that I've been able to sit down and write a post.] At first Yatako’s heart had a leap of joy when he saw that his streams of chakra were pouring through the beast’s chakra and perfectly tracing the design he imagined it would. The byakugan also picked up the haphazard laser that sliced through the village like cheese, causing further crippling to the ruined village. From what he could see, the random release of energy did not come into contact with anyone in particular, or at least not directly. The debris and ever changing environment was another story. ------------------------- Recovering from the massive burst of chakra he emitted, Taiyoutaka floated in the air, suspending himself comfortably while watching the creature’s skin bubble over. The market square would probably not grow anything for quite a while, having been scorched to the root. Kusagakure no Sato, which used to house many plants of life scattered in the village would more or less look like a wasteland of brown, grey and black dust for quite a while. “Pick on your own flock.” Taiyoutaka muttered in the wake of the agonizing creature below. That assurance of victory would be short lived for the boss summon when the Gargantua’s great eye set on him and three of the faces burst out a wild laser that trapped him in a triangle pattern. And then a larger beam was coming for him. If the bird had enough time to charge another beam, maybe he would have clashed with the yokai, but there was no way he could flee from this situation without some sort of compensation. The bird was going to get burned. A light blaze of fire washed over his wings, preparing an aura shield to rip through the beam. With a mighty flap of his wings, Taiyoutaka braced for impact as he flew upwards into the upper beam. The orange beam grazed across him, clashing across his shimmering feathers. The Hawk King felt a heavy blast of energy and heat zap through him as he climbed through the beam. A handful of red, gold, orange and brown feathers were tossed into the wind, falling off of the bird summon in homage to the beam. Taiyoutaka’s flight pattern was a little off after the attack, like a person had tripped over his feet. He was shaken up, but mostly okay. Wounds cut through his feathered armor, but he was in far better shape than if he battled with the large central beam. ------------------------- The Hokage dropped back into the market after his assault and clad himself in a makeshift fortress of stone. He knew that the Gargantua was an unpredictable creature, so the safest thing would be to find protection as soon as he could. Although covered in a dome, the Byakugan could pierce the earthen shield, sheding light on the battle dynamics. The ring on the yokai’s back that had previous released a stampede of flaming spears began to spin, sparking a wheel of fire on its back and then Yatako saw the beast falling- no grounding itself. That was never good. Reaching out the sides of his dome, Yatako pumped a stream of chakra into the earth, reinforcing and bracing for whatever was about to happen. The Hokage watched, perplexed, as the eruption of fire that turned the Gargantua’s skin to a bubbly black goop was drawn inward as if its skin was eating the fire. He wanted to gasp in agony, thinking that the attack had failed- but something in his mind urged him to look closer. ------------------------- When he was able to recover his flight pattern, the Gargantua’s ring on his back was spinning with the ferocity of a hundred running horses. The flames had been absorbed into his skin, but there was still obvious damage upon the beast. Like a heartbeat, a large pulse was emitted from the spinning ring that now stopped. The ring of fire and wind that barreled towards Taikyoutaka and he could clearly see that was dangerous. As a master of the sky, he was not about to stick around to embrace this air blaze. This was a ring of fire and wind, the two elements that Taiyoutaka knew very well. Summoning a tornado of wind around him, the bird began to spin rapidly, creating a gust force of his own that would jettison him into the air, far into the sky and rather quickly. He would, however feel the tail ends of the winds singe his tail feathers. ------------------------- He would be distracted though when another deafening burst rang through the village as a flood of superheated air bombarded away from the Gargantua and consumed the village. A heavy whistling sound slammed against Yatako’s dome, trying to weasel its way through. Debris began to pummel his dome and the shaking was so great, Yatako nearly fell over. Had he not found protection, he would have been pretty toasty right about now and his skin might have turned black. Sweat was accumulating across his pores from being so close to the impact and being in the cascade of fire earlier. In a sudden shake his dome cracked open and dripped away- the earth turning to a strange form of clay and then into soot. With the last of the fading dome, Yatako hurled its chakra away and felt the passing heat of the air cool and now it felt a little chilly. The webbings of chakra beneath the yokai’s skin had been eaten by the chakra of the beast itself. The streams were turned into hairline fractures and then eventually no trace was left…except on its skin. The scars and burn marks were still apparent riddled across its body, it was only what had encased the chakra being that was damaged. Or…he began to think, noticing that after the Gargantua had absorbed the fire, the ring emitted the wave of blazing air. Perhaps the ring was an exhaust system that prevented chakra overload. Maybe… “Taiyoutaka, get that ring!” Yatako called, not really paying attention to where the bird summon was. That was another hunch that he had, but his real prize was somewhere more…localized and certain. Now that the beast was on its four feet and distracted still, there was something that he could do. With a leap, the Hyuuga latched on to one of its hind legs and scurried up like a squirrel on a tree, only smaller. Climbing this thing was climbing a rock wall with some of its blackened skin flaking away as he climbed. “What is it going to take to take you down?” He commented aloud as he reached the back of the being. Filling the soles of his feet with chakra, Yatako ran across the beast, stuck to even if it tried to shake him off. The Great Bird summon dipped down from the skies, with his talons open, ready to grab hold of the golden ring around the yokai. If he could, Taiyoutaka would push all his might in trying to break the ring away from the summon, if that were even possible. Yatako on the other hand held on tight as he climbed up the back of the Yokai’s head. He figured that at this point, the remaining faces on the yokai wouldn’t be at an angle to attack him. He would have to strike swiftly to avoid being beamed. The chakra that rested on Yatako’s gauntlets glowed brightly and then exploded into a red hue of fire. His target was the most obvious place on the yokai, if he could successfully get it to (which he figured would be tough anyway). The great big red eye. If he could strike that thing, maybe the yokai would go down, or maybe even if it blinked he could the eye shut. That was banking off of the idea that he wouldn’t be beamed or swallowed in the process. Standing on the Gargantua, the Hokage could see the dismal graveyard of a village. He admired all the people fighting here and hoped that he would make it out to see the world in the aftermath. [6008] ••• He was, for lack of a better term, desperate to find his best friend. His determination had dipped into the emotional pool that swelled with strength and shaky desperation. Normally the Hisame would boldly stride into a situation with the confidence to do the impossible. Now all he wanted was for Raz to be excavated from this debris tomb and breathe again. His confidence in battle was not broken, but his focus merely shifted towards the red headed Sennin. Raz had gone through a dismal transformation, with one nail hammering into him after the other. Haruyuki was substantially worried now, because Raz was not only drained and wounded from the last massive battle, but he worried for the man’s hope. If that was crushed, it was likely Raz’s desire to live would be squished. There were very few people that would elicit this type of reaction from Haruyuki. His concentration had pile-drived on Raz, but a shinobi of his caliber was never truly distracted enough. His instincts and reactions were too well defined in years of honing art of precision and timing that he would miss the bird yokai swooping down at him. If he was not a Hisame and it were not raining at this point and time in the ghost village of Kusagakure no Sato, the Kirigakure Hachinin might have been in trouble. Before the bird yokai could sink its talons into him, the man slipped into the puddles of rain as if they were doors to another room. If the bird was agile enough, it could maneuver out of the way before smashing into the debris Haruyuki was trying to clear. “You should have stayed where you were, that will be your last regret.” If yokai could regret, or even if they couldn’t, that would be a threat that Haruyuki would make it regret. Launching out of the puddle behind the bird yokai, between Haruyuki’s fingers were long, six inch intricate Hisame senbon needles. There were eight in all and although senbon needles were usually weak tools used by Gennin and Chuunin, the Hisame had refined the art to make them more deadly than most. He shot one to the side of the yokai, zipping right past it and slamming into a concrete formation just behind it. The miss was not an accident, instead it sunk into the rock and cracked it in half like an egg like a jack hammer had jammed into it. These needles were not for training exercises. In quick succession, Haruyuki released the seven others with the skill of someone living on an island of snipers. [3187] ••• “SOMEONE IS TELLING ME NOT TO HURT YOU AND THE OTHER IS TELLING ME TO USE MORE CHAKRA. YOU WANT ME TO PUKE A RAINBOW TOO?!” She screamed into the mass fluttering of wings from awkward fish birds. She didn’t realize that Yue’s comment wasn;t soley directed at her, but since the trend was to yell at the girl, this is exactly what she thought was happening. She really hoped that those yokia would do something productive like snap off two snakes in particular. That would be a charity to the world. Her snakes were actually doing what they were supposed to be doing and were reasonably successful. The birds were dropping quickly and smacking against the floor. Maybe they weren’t killing the birds, but not only would it give a wee more breathing room, but it would let the crew have an opening to attack or run. She was about to brag this to her two whiny guys, when the house decided it didn’t want a hat anymore. There was a terrifyingly loud boom of what should have been some sort of word being let off by an unholy creature that never should have been given the ability to speak, followed by the dim and dark house being opened up to the familiar soggy rain pouring down on them. The night sky was plastered with clouds that were looking pretty uneven and unnatural, too far perturbed by the hands of man. Although it was supposed to be quick, it felt like it was slow, maybe because she dabbled in the art of time bending. But time again would catch up in a rush and the frantic birds were going even more haywire and idiotic. What were they trying to do? They were being DUMB! If they wanted to eat them, though could converge, but noooooo they had to swoop around like chickens with their heads cut off. A wave of dust and stone poured down from above, leaving the air to be crusted thick with things that would make lungs sick. “Cover yourself!” Which should be self explanatory, but knowing these people in the wake of something weird, they would probably stare at it or yell at it like a rabid deer. People needed to be reminded of the most basic things sometimes. She pulled the tail end of her sage robes over her head to stave off the unwanted debris from getting in her mouth. Although her robes weren’t the most durable, they were stronger than most threads. When she thought it was relatively safe, Lilina peeked out from her covers and saw a miraculous sight. The birds left open a path towards salvation! Suddenly there was a crashing next door, followed by the structure of the building shivering. The buildings were falling on each other and soon Team Oto might find this place to be their grave. With their orders barked out by Yue, he didn’t need to mention it twice. Lilina was already well inclined to be on her way towards the outside. Her focus was shifted towards a smashed yokai that had succumbed to the unkind effects of gravity. She swore that wouldn’t be them, they wouldn’t wind up as stone pancakes! Ignoring the birds for a moment, she strung together two hand seals and released a bed of chakra under them. The dark chakra would pool at their feet and them and then shimmer up their legs and around their profile. “Don’t get distracted!” She urged, knowing that the chakra would manipulate time ever so slightly to speed up their movements if at least by a hair. Ren probably wouldn’t need it, but it might have meant the difference between life and death for her and Yue. The light from the outside lit their path with dreary gray light, although it still was better than the dim darkness they had before. Wood supports were splintering with their shrapnel fluttering all over the place. She doubted anyone was still in the house, but a pang of worry couldn’t be helped that someone’s soft screams wouldn’t be heard over the birds and buildings. She vaulted over a table that still stood and bolted out of the door, praying that they would not find that great big giant death trap of a yokai staring at them. [4289]
Rhap Sodos Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 (edited) Alba let out a low growl, his eyes focusing on the ground. "Watch out!" The fox-summon would bark, his sensing ability alerting him to the fact that the something was coming at them from beneath. Sure enough, two of the Gargantua Spawn burst from the ground, preparing for an assault. Izzy squeaked, scrambling in the muddy ground as he whirled around, eyes catching sight of the strange hand-like creature erupting from the ground. Strangely though, they didn't pay any attention to the young Namikaze, instead going after two of the others who shared space with the Kiri-nin in the crater. It provided Izzy with the perfect opportunity to escape, let those who had obviously spent years honing their skills death with these unstoppable and unending creatures from nowhere. But it was a fleeting thought. Izzy was a pacifist, but he wasn't a coward. Given the option, he would chose not to fight. But these creatures weren't giving them an option. They just kept coming, and somewhere out there, Haruyuki and Raz, Ren and Lilina were fighting the same battle Izzy was. Somewhere out there, Raz's wife and and his son were missing, and the answers to what happened to Kusagakure were located. Of the two spawn present, the lanky Kiri-nin focused on the one firing the beam at the black haired man that was almost as tall as the Namikaze. Izzy couldn't risk attacking when they were at such closer quarters with seemingly no one paying attention to the young Namikaze's presence, which ruled out the tuning fork girl. While he doubted he would actually hurt his two companions, he didn't want to do anything that would potentially distract them from the problem at hand. Hands forming seals, he drew upon the water in the area and his own skill with Ninjutsu to attack. Suiton: Suiryuudan no Jutsu Water Type: Water Dragon Blast Skill It certainly wouldn't match anything Kikuya or Sato could produce, but he had the element of surprise on his side as the roaring water dragon aimed for the gargantua hand. On the plus side, if he lived to regret staying and drawing attention to himself, he had at least survived to regret it. Stay positive! Edited December 11, 2012 by Rhap Sodos
Terrick Sukrai Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 OOC: Sorry for not posting sooner, but between writer's block and a sheer lack of offensive capability from my character, I'm feeling like the odd man out here... Still, I will try. Terrick was again blown off his feet by the gargantuan's power, the ash, smoke, and heat throwing him into the first rank of buildings on the village's edge. Reaching up out of the debris so as to pull himself out, the jounin coughed wetly, fresh burns now coating his limbs and the outer edges of his gauntlets were cherry red, causing him to groan and bite his lip in pain before the restorative jutsu he'd cast earlier healed the worst of it. "Okay, seriously, this is pissing me off... I am NOT someone whose main diet consists of ****ing rock or wood or even FIRE damn it!" Shaking his head, Terrick looked about, seeing that the 'hands' and beast were still there, exasperation and doubt made their weighted opinions known to his mind. "A raise.... I am DEFINITELY demanding a ****ing raise when this is all over..." Blade covered fingers danced in a variety of seals as the summoned bird continued its assault on the primary target. Dust and ash coalesced at Terrick's side as the Tsuchi Bunshin formed into a copy of himself. Turning to his double, he spoke quickly. "Get over to the Tree and find out if Raz needs help. We are a medic nin, it's time we started acting like one." The clone nodded once before dashing off down the street, while its creator turned back to the swirling melee. "Alright.... hope you guys don't hold this against me..." Terrick muttered, before sprinting forwards. Climbing the demon's back and side would have been a hassle, so instead he called down into the depths of his rapidly depleting chakra reserves and dug up enough to form one last Wood Dragon. The serpentile creation formed beneath him and launched straight towards the Gargantua's back, the dragon's jaws stretching to attempt to clamp onto the ring's side opposite of Taiyoutaka. Perhaps it would help, perhaps not. Either way, it would serve its purpose to get the Kusa-nin up into range. Falling towards the two spawn mounted on its back, Terrick's eyes flashed with malice as twin chains ejected themselves from his metal sleeves, the bladed links spinning. "I don't care how many heads you grow you bastard, I'm taking them all off... HOKAGE-SAN! GAMABUNTA-SAN! WATCH YOURSELF!!!" Beginning to spin himself in midair, the chains followed in a slight swirling pattern to begin the whirling dance the grass ninja was orchestrating. Zansatsu no Shippudan: Maelstrom of Slaughter! ********************************************************************* The earth clone in the meantime continued to blaze a trail towards the great tree stump in the middle of the village, sometimes using the paths carved through the streets and buildings to make the trip faster. Its matrix didn't allow for a full personality doubling, but the clone did retain the sense that if it didn't get to work fast, it wasn't going to have the opportunity to complete its work....
wolfnin Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 The world would turn into another magnificent display of destructive power again as the next series of events would unfold. The senuskai shinobi watched in slight awe as the pillar of flame engulfed the giant beast. The power of the flame was immense as it seemed to envelope the night sky, though even that seemed futile as the gargantuan was still alive. Was there nothing that could stop a creature of this magnitude? Of course things had not ended yet, as once the flame died; flames covered the sky ceasing the rain for several seconds. Sato's eyes flashed upwards as the continuous source of natural lightning he gathered from the clouds was now interrupted by the wave of fire. The super-heated air wave sent a series of cold sweats down Sato's face and a sharp shiver down his spinal cord. Though, despite the fact that the super-heated air wave disrupted the gathering of natural lightning, the heat left the air heated which meant a more volatile and reactive source of natural lightning. What followed this discovery was the eruption of a new type of yokai from the ground beneath them. The hand-shaped creature gave little time for the senuskai to react as it fired a white and orange beam in attempt to cleave him in half. Instinctively, the kumogakure jounin allowed gravity to take control of his body and dropped towards the ground in an attempt to dodge the beam. Instinct allowed him to dodge a cutting blow, but the sharp and warm pain of the beam sent his neurons in a frenzy as it scorched the upper-right of his backside and shoulders. His hands which sunk into the water-tainted ground in order to hold his fall would give and caused the senuskai to fully land face first into the mud. "That....hurt..." Sato muttered to himself while he gathered chakra into the soles of his feet and the tips of his fingers. With the aid of chakra, the jounin pushed himself upwards with enough force to land on his feet with some stumbling. From his peripherals, Sato spotted the shape of a water dragon that hurled itself towards the hand spawn. The dragon was a blessing, along with the natural lightning above, which was now volatile due to the air-wave from earlier. The water dragon would be an excellent distraction, along with an added bonus of damage, which meant it could allow a strike from above to hit without being noticed. Maybe, Sato wasn't sure but he had to do something now. Doki No Den (Wrath of Lightning) The natural lightning that raged about within the storm clouds crackled violently and gathered in the clouds directly above the yokai. His bloodline allowed him to utilize this jutsu without the need for seals which increased the speed of the jutsu. With no hesitation, the senuskai sent several bolts of lightning from the sky directly towards the yokai. Adrenaline had taken control of his body and his mind was on full alert now. He could still feel the pain from the wound he had just received and the blood which trickled down his arm served as a constant reminder. Not to mention, he now had to get the back of both his shirt and hoodie repaired. "Don't fuck with a man's hoodie!" [550 words post/3352 words total]
