Lemon Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) If in some far off place an artist illustrated a rendition of the Apocalypse, the end of the shinobi world as we know it, it might look something like the scene playing out before Mizujin. Flaming debris sonsiting of all manner of susbtances from ethereal black goo to gold. Rain was dousing everything, perhaps the only thing stoppind the village from being consumed by the flames of the yokai as well as his own. Not hat he couldn't make it rain himself if he needed to, and he was beginning to think he might have to. This creature was spewing flames... perhaps a water ninjutsu would take a bite out of it. Far more years out of the young genius' life had been spent in the employ of the Hidden Mist, as the invasion of the NCIA abruptly terminated his career in Konoha. Well, that and other circumstances. I was such a naive boy. Naive, perhaps, but he wielded the Mangekyou sharingan in those days. Now his sight was worse than it had ever been because of the seal the Tsuchikage, or Sanbi, or whoever was controlling Syaoran had placed on him. These Hachinin think they can get away with anything they want, even to the extent of letting their arrogance delude them into thinking the tailed beasts served under them. Who would have thought we'd ender up trading one emperor for eight. He hated how much power was thrust onto these few, most of which had seized control of their respective villages once the war had ended. Thats not to say he thought they were bad leaders, Yatako at least seemed responsible when wielding his excessive political and military influence. The sand ninja Kouta had also made a favorable first impression during the inital Yokai attack. Still, he did not truly trust them. "Shit!" A burning chunk of earth had been sent falling into his path by the giant's movements. Crouching back onto his toes he sprung into a controlled leap and dove under it, squeezing through with inches to spare. The athletic shinobi landed in a tight forward roll that carried him back to his feet after he splattered through the mud. As he rose to his feet so did two copies on either side of him, Mizujin having swiftly performed the seals as he was evading the debris. He came skidding to a halt, sliding into view of the three faces his Hokage had ordered the remaining fighters to attack. Well, himself and the one other shinobi that was battling the gargantuan,. The summons had been taken down and he didn't know the fate of the other shinobi that had been here, but he could hear other battles occuring around them. He had devised a quick plan that he hoped would not only damage the Yokai but open it up for an attack from Yatako, as he knew neither he nor the grass ninja seemed capable of standing toe to the toe with this thing like the Hokage could. The two water clones closed the distance between themselves and the gargantuan. Hands raced through seals as their feet raced acrossd the barren landscape. Abruptly they stopped in their tracks and shouted out in unison. "Water type: Tidal Burst!" Water from all around began to travel underneath the giant beasts head and formed into two massive balls beneath it's chin. With a roar like a crashing wave in a storm they erupted and sent a powerful shockwave along with a torrent of water exploding outward. The true Uchiha had begun shaping seals just when his dopplegangers had. However, this jutsu he was using was far more advanced so a few more seals were needed. This resulted in it being completed slightly later than his suiton technique, but it was all according to plan. Though the roar of the tidal sphere was loud it would be drowned out by the crack of thunder as a bolt of lightning struck down from the heavens. The single bolt split, each prong guided by Mizujin's chakra to strike one of the different faces on the Yokai's head, looking like a bright golden trident spearing the demon's skull. He faltered for a moment after the attack was sent into motion, he had been expending far too much chakra for such little results in this fight. wolfnin Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 The shinobi world was filled with mystery and wonder from the summons that allied with them and the yokai that fought to destroy them. Even the yokai, that sought nothing but chaos, were something of nature's beauty and if they weren't in the midst of a battle, was something to be admired with the rest of nature. Still, the Kumogakure shinobi found it difficult to enjoy the yokai after the screech it released once the Kiri-nin's attack hit as well as his own, cleaving off one of its fingers. Unfortunately, the end results were small splashes of black ooze that stained his jeans and clothing. Sato's eyes directed towards the incoming orange beam once again reverting to the plan of 'duck and cover', this time by choice. For the second time within the past few minutes the Senuskai found himself caked with a layer of mud and dirt, this time accompanied by a splash of strange black ooze. His nerves screamed at full alert while pain sensors sent signals up and down his left arm and shoulder in milliseconds. "Why am I always powerless?" It was a strange question to ask one's self, but the sound of the rocks crushing and the land shifting around him made him feel in such a manner. He had failed to protect his sister during the Senuskai clan war and if it wasn't for his father both him and his sibling would have died. If it wasn't for the sacrifice of an ally, he would have died back in the assassination attempt in Kumogakure, and now in the midst of Kusa, he was having difficulty with a hand yokai. "Can I really protect everybody like this?" The Senuskai grunted while he lifted himself up onto his feet, only now noticing the full effect of the wound the beam had inflicted him. The sleeve that had covered his left arm had been incinerated from the beam, revealing the outer part of his left arm from the wrist to the shoulder. The sleeve had reduced some of the impact, but the light-caramel color of his skin was now replaced by a red mark, from loss of the first layer of his skin, which ran down his arm, intermixed with blood that trickled down from several spots not cauterized by the beam. The sight of his wound brought a tired smile to Sato's face, the pain reassuring him that he was still alive. "There's been too much pain." The loss of Kusagakure was already a devastating blow to the world, but while the village was in ruins, the destruction of the landscape only amplified the pain. There was no reason to destroy the remains of Kusagakure; the village had suffered enough as is. How could he protect the people he cared about the most if he could not protect the land that they lived on? No matter what he had to protect the ones he cared about along with his allies, despite the pain and suffering he went through. "I have to survive." Survival, in order to protect the remains of the world from the yokai and continue expanding his technique repertoire in order to combat those that threatened the sanctity of peace. "The face!" Sato's eyes widened as he focused back onto the yokai which was continuing the beam of destruction. His chakra system groaned while lightning crackled around him, a sign that his own chakra was beginning to reach its limit. Therefore he had a limited amount of time before he reached the point where fighting would come down to basic dodging and tradition melee. The past several years he had been working on acquiring a larger selection pool of elemental techniques and amassed a decent sized list, but despite this list, lightning and wind had remained a constant favorite. Both lightning and wind had fused together in the palm of his hand as he gathered both elemental chakras. The young namikaze had launched a ball of ice, which would once again serve as an excellent distraction. With no hesitation, Sato dashed forward at a high-speed as he followed the ball of ice, aiming to launch his attack immediately after the ball of ice hit. Kei Riku (Execution) A sphere of wind and lightning formed within the palm of his hand as he arrived directly in front of the yokai, the yellow hue of his eyes stared directly into the face of the creature. The world seemed to slow down as he stared into the face of the beast with a violent sphere of wind and lightning with the palm of his hand. His right arm lunged forward and the violent sphere of lightning and wind transcended to a blast of lightning directed straight for the face of the yokai while wind circled around the blast aiming to trap both the lightning and, hopefully, the ball of ice in order to get a direct hit on the yokai. The Kumogakure shinobi watched the jutsu launch, with strange memories of home flooding his mind. While his body and shinobi instincts kicked into gear, his mind wandered onto a single, strange thought. "Hitara, sister, I will find you." [861 words post/ 4863 words total]
Eechi-go Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Gamabunta's body wouldn't budge despite the Yokai's beam barreling towards him and illuminating the remnants of the village. He was completely out cold, but at the very least he wasn't dead yet. Just as the beam was about to make contact with the toad and completely blow it to smithereens, it seemed as though the boss' companions were looking out for him The massive toad would burst into a cloud of smoke literally an inch before the beam hit him, presumably having been reverse summoned back to Mount Myobokuzan. There he would be tended by his subjects, unfortunately being forced to abandon his two favorite summoners to their fate. --- "I'm so happy... I almost couldn't care less about the revolutions right now." "I understand- it's not wrong. We all want to be spoiled by the ones we love." Each step Raz took felt like an agonizing eternity with the pitiful balance he was maintaining. His legs wobbled with weakness, and every other time the bottom of his foot pressed into the muddy muck beneath him, he'd break into a throaty coughing fit that would trigger a shudder induced by pain. At this point the only thing fueling the fire in his heart was the old words Korin said to him over the years. Each individual memory would play out in front of his eyes- their meeting again in Kiri, fighting in the war, catching up in the forest, spending time on the beach together...all these things were providing him with the small spark of willpower he needed to keep his body moving. Still, despite all of this, the Sennin would notice chakra-based phantoms that lingered in the streets of the village. They moved through his range of vision as though they were your average civilan simply trying to get through the day. Some entered buildings, others sat on benches that had since been charred and broken from Raz's untimely arrival. The strangest things about these phantoms seemed to be the way they moved. It appeared as though these ghosts were looping in their movement patterns, such as entering a building, reappearing on the outside, and repeating the action again and again. The man was not nearly in the correct state of mind to try and figure out what this phenomenon was. As a matter of fact, all he felt was the crippling fear of death approaching him faster and faster. It felt as though he was standing on the threshold between this world and the afterlife, and he was about to take the plunge. Trying to ignore the phantoms, as well as the blood pooling around his hands, Raz finally made it to the side entrance of the Harakage tree. However, this tiny victory would be ruined by his body giving way and sending him falling face-first into the mud and muck. His body SCREAMED at him as the dirt and rocks began pouring into his wounds, and it was enough to cause the man to curl up onto his knees and push his forehead against the dirt in an attempt to keep himself from writhing in pain. Just as his body was going to give way once more to his impending death, Korin's old words would resurface in his memories. "Rasen's the leader, right? Raz- well, Raz is... he's a good person. You shouldn't worry. He won't leave anyone behind." He had to believe there was something he could do to save her. He couldn't just give up. So he'd begin to claw at the ground, digging his nails in and beginning to crawl towards the Harakage's Tree entrance, deciding that he was going to clamber up the staircase if he needed to. He didn't care what kind of pain he'd have to put himself through so long as he got to the top of that tree. And as he pulled himself into the building and began clawing his way up the steps one by one, a bright light began to emanate from beneath the cursed seal between his shoulder blades. It was a second layer of sealing placed by the Umikoi after Syaoran conjured his own to keep Raz in check. This second layer of protection was written in kanji down the man's back, and was unbeknownst to him. As a matter of fact, the only person who ever got to read it before it faded was Korin herself, and it had brought her comfort at the time considering the hell that they had been through. Za Kamikaze no Namikaze Rasen no Oto Ariki Fukuchuu;Zaru Ariki Fukuchuu Gobi. The Divine Wind of Namikaze Rasen of Oto Originates from Within his Heart; Not from Within Gobi. The words continued to glow, but that meant the original sealing had all but shattered, and these words were literally the only thing keeping the cursed seal intact. But Raz would remain ignorant to it all, just trying him damndest to make it up these stairs before he died in the trail of blood he was leaving behind. And in his mind, Korin's words would continue to echo, almost as though they were silently cheering him on. "I'll always be keeping an eye out for you, Raz,” 866 Words 8,352 Total
Cloudnine Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Expecting the hand to be rooted, Kikuya was hardly prepared for the sudden lurching that sent her and her weapon tumbling into the black palm’s grasp. Her grip upon the sickle was far too strong to break from the pull. Surprise filled the back of her throat with dread as the woman began to realize her situation- pinned to the ground by some demonic spawn that outclassed her in size and power. Her rapid breaths spilled directly into the abomination’s gaping maw as she squirmed, trying to use her shoulders to buy leverage for her trapped arms. True to sound-eaters, Kikuya was prepared to ready a sonic blast from her gut when a staggering bout a weakness consumed her. Frenzied thrashing turned into uncontrollable shudders as a deluge of chakra escaped from her body. Kikuya lay spent beneath the demonic beast, unable to summon the chakra to repel it. Her mouth tried to form words- but something, be it fear or weakness choked her attempts. This it? A morbid thought, but Kikuya couldn’t fight it. It was then suddenly, the beast’s weight was knocked off her limbs and whatever comprised of the thing’s entrails fell upon her. Immediately, the Oto-nin rolled onto her side, inadvertently rotating her face into a puddle of black goo. Hissing, sputtering, and swearing as another blazing beam cut overhead from the demon, Kikuya managed a scarcely sitting position and hurled the entire sickle and chain at the hand, hoping to ensnare it for the subsequent attacks or put enough shit into its field of vision. Karuna. The thought echoed as the sound-eater sought her parasite concealed amidst the village rubble. It was answered in the form of a dark crow darting from a dilapidated doorway to alight at her master’s feet. The bird then morphed into Kikuya’s sonic counterpart, a naked, skeletal reflection of the woman. The gaunter twin loomed over Kikuya, who resorted to sprawling back into the dirt and tar. Wordlessly, it crawled over the jounin and with its jutting ribcage touching her host’s, melted back into the sound-eater’s body. The reunion took away Kikuya’s genjutsu support, but in turn replenished her with a portion of Karuna’s chakra.
Leon Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) (OOC: I'm taking some liberties in the post so that we can move the team along. PM/ AIM me if I missed anything we talked about or if parts need editing.) Within the flash of the madness a ember sparked across the wind. Something had entered the cyclone at the last second, and Ren could not guess how the birth of fire was introduced into the stream of wind. The thought would not ramble as a robust tug pulled him off his feet for a moment. It had become clear in that second that Yue had not heeded Ren's advice at all and seemed obstinately intent on following his own path. Not like it was anything new to Ren, but the motion would not pass well for the Chunnin especially considering he had just been drug off his feet the moment the fire ignited. Whether or not Yue realized it he had literally just tossed fire onto a bomb that not even a quarter of a mile away from them. The light... it was the first thing Ren saw after Lilina screamed for them to run away. Apparently the boy had not seen what the two of them had when he began his assault, and it would cost him and Yue. The initial explosion would knock both of the boys off their feet, after all they were only feet away from a powerful gas explosion that could be felt on all sides of town, causing Ren to black our for approximately five seconds or so. No thoughts crept into his mind during this time, even the mini Ren minions in his head were silent. There was no moment of thought, and if he could feel it would seem like eternity, but the boy would come back to the land quickly enough. His chest weighed heavily as he tried to pick himself from the ground, noting that the pressure of the blast along with the collision most likely broke a bone or tore a muscle in an already fragile body. His breath staggered for a moment as air circulated itself into his lungs for the first time in seconds. Pain, Ren's best friend right now, was the only thing that greeted him after his short coma. His eyes took a moment to adjust as the roaring flames of the building attempted to die down. They were unsuccessful to say the least as the building burned with a ferocious power. The haze that surrounded his vision began to clear for a moment allowing Ren to realize the large blast had actually be contained into a perfect box. His arms gained a renewed sense of vigor as they lifted the would be corpse off the ground. His piston like legs did the remainder of the work, bringing the triumphant survivor back into the air. With his vigor working once more Ren would immediately turn his attention to his team mate. There would be a surprising amount of distance between the two despite their relative closeness to one another, since Newton is a bitch, but Ren would close the gap in a second. He would attempt to help up his teammate if he required it, which he may due to his current physical condition. After all the awkwardness of seeing each other would pass Ren would break any silence or speech the two shared with, "I didn't want your help Yue. I wish I could say I appreciate it, but I truthfully can't. One day you won't be there to watch my back." Ren said it like the way a brother would speak to his sibling. Whether the two liked it or not that was what they had become. The group had become rushed for time and the duo would quickly reconcile with Lilina after only a moment of conversation. Ren would give a forced smile at Lilina, somewhat ashamed to be facing her a the moment. His smile would turn into a comment as he said, "Appreciated the gift. Looks like I won't be needing it quite yet." How Lilina would interpret it was up to her. The group needed to move and to that end they would make their ways through the streets of kusagakure to find the ever elusive harakage tree. As they passed through the abandoned streets the team would see more of the same, that is random yokai that they would barely evade and the complete lack of normal life forms. Ren continued to sense an almost ghost like form of chakra, but the team was in to much danger to press further into a hunt over chakra anomalies. After only a few minutes, thanks to Ren's uncanny scouting abilities along with a great deal of battle sounds coming from that direction, the group would find itself around the corner of a building that stood beside the Harakage tree. Ren could sense that there was a small skirmish between a large chakra source and a few dozen smaller ones. Someone was most likely fighting the bird yokai near by, but Ren could not get a line of sight on the person. It was a shame considering the person may not know how to completely defeat one of the yokai yet. Ren would turn to face his two teammates with a look of urgency plastered onto his face. "Anyone have any ideas right now?" the boy would speak, "I know someone is fighting nearby, we could either find them or make a run for the tree. Not exactly sure how to get in it..." The last sentence would trail off silently as Ren began to mutter gibberish quickly under his breath. [910/7361] Edited January 1, 2013 by Leon
cntrstrk14 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Everything would happen very quickly. Three ammonia bombs would strike the beast as it thrashed, trying to reach the Hokage. The yellowish gas that exploded out would cause the large beast's single eye to close shut as it twisted away, its retina burned by the poison. As it reared back, the water would strike it almost at the same time as the crack of lightning. One of the three prongs found their target, striking right through one of the faces on the left side of the thing's giant head. The hand wilted and screamed as it died, even without face as it was blown apart by the lighting blast. The other two prongs struck near the faces, but with the beasts movements they had just missed their mark. The beast was now blind and furious, but the two remaining faces focused in on the Hokage that was now mid flight at them. THeir mouths would open and two lasers of molten orange and white light would strike out, not even caring that if they missed that they would strike their own body. “BWWWWRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!” It was getting desperate. ---------- The hand near Sato and Izzy would ready up another beam, but just as it did the ice ball from Izzy would strike it, causing it to lose balance with the force of the blast and send the orange and white beam soaring overhead into the air. In the same sweet movement, Sato would appear right on top of the beast as it fell backwards, mouth still open from the beam it had fired a moment before and it would not even register a response before a blast of wind and lightning chakra would literally blast it into pieces. Globs of black goo flew out the back and painted the dirt below as the beast's face was completely obliterated. With a sudden slackness, the beast would fall to the ground with a heavy thud, sending a wave of dirt and wind out in all directions. Almost immediately it would start to dissolve, the hand immobile as blue motes of chakra floated away off of it, the hand slowly disappearing into pure chakra. ---------- Haruyuki's strike would find its mark, the bird yokai still trying to reform would have no chance to try and avoid the attack from the Sennin. As the beast was struck, it would cry out and dwindle to a small squeak as it's form stopped regenerating itself. The bird slumped, falling backwards to the ground and lay immobile. A moment later motes of pure blue chakra would start to float off of it, its body disappearing. This was not like before when it came back though, this was as if the beast was dissolving in front of the man's eyes. ---------- Yokai Tracker Gargantuan: City Square [Yatako, Terrick, Mizujin] ○ Spawn 1: Destroyed (Mizujin) ○ Spawn 2: Destroyed (Sato & Izzy) ○ Spawn 3: Gargantuan's Head ○ Spawn 4: Destroyed (Sato & Izzy) ○ Spawn 5: Gargantuan's Head Bird 1: Destroyed (Ren & Yue) Bird 2: Destroyed (Syaoran) Bird 3: Destroyed (Kikuya) Bird 4: Destroyed (Haruyuki)
1Q84 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Yue barely noticed when Lilina started doing her weird black magic shit seeing as true to fucking form the minute Ren should be using his god damn speed for something intelligent the dumb instead decided to ignore both Yue and Lilina and try to face the damn bird things down. The dumbass was all but a dead weight in Yue's arms and the two of them barely had time to move away from the weird pillar of air before shit ignited sending out a flash of light and heat that was enough to send them both of them flying and then sprawling into the ground. Ignoring the latest collections of cuts and bruises Yue forced himself to turn back towards the flaming pillar staring up at the weird collumn of fire that now lit up the sky igniting everything within the odly straight lines. For some reason Yue couldn't exactly explain he found the sight of it pretty fucking funny considering what Syaoran's last words were. "Fuckin'... fire away." Yue said actually finding himself laughing at the sight figuring this whole god damn trip bad been absurd and the only reasonable thing to do was laugh at it. Of course, Ren had to ruin what little fun Yue found in this fucked up situation taking the oppurtunity to scold Yue for saving his ass. "Yeah, well with your god damn track record the day I ain't there to watch your back is probably going to be your last." Yue said giving the dumb fuck a shit eating grin and ignoring whatever offer he made as Yue pulled himself to his own god damn feet figuring this was probably about the third time Yue had saved Ren's ass and the asshole had thrown it back into his face. "So your welcome, you ungrateful little shit." Or maybe the secret was having tits and a nice ass seeing as Ren had no issues thanking Lilina for her help even though by his own admitance he did fuck all with it. Truthfully Yue probably would've been pretty fucking surprised if Ren had shown any sort of appreciation for Yue's help which said a hell of a lot about their team dynamic but Yue was far beyond being offended by it. In fact he was still feeling pretty god damn proud of himself for figuring out a way to kill the damn bird thing without forcing them to split up or leave one of them behind to possibly die so Ren could suck on his stupid ass wounded pride all god damn night if he felt like it. Finally free of those bird things the group was able to make their way towards the tree once more something that Yue was infinitely greatful for. He probably couldn't keep the first gate open much longer and their was a steady burn in his muscles that he knew was going to ignite the minute his chakra and adreneline stopped running. Yue knew he was going to be in for a world of pain sooner than later so the quicker they wrapped this shit up the faster Yue could crawl back into a hospital bed for a few days. He didn't even complain when Ren took the lead figuring that the dumbass had been spouting enough weird shit about seeing things or sensing things that Yue was ready to run with crazy as long as he led them towards where they were supposed to go. Of fucking course, the minute they started to get close Ren stopped to enlighten them about some sort of fight going on nearby something that made Yue roll his eyes. Surprise fucking surprise, one of the dozen or so people they had come with was still alive, good for fucking them. If Yue heard them calling for help or stumbled across them it might be different but like hell he was going to deviate from what they were supposed to do when it was staring them right in the fucking face. "Tree." Yue said without hesitation wondering why the hell he kept having to remind everybody that's where Raz told them to fucking go. Yue wasn't sure if they were supposed to get in the tree or climb it or sit under it twiddling his thumbs but he wasn't about to go running into god knows what to play mindless heroics for people who probably didn't fucking need it. Again. "When we find Raz he can tell us what the fuck to do next, but as far as I'm fucking concerned our mission is to get to that god damn tree."
Rhap Sodos Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Izzy's breath hitched as he saw the hand-beast preparing what had to be another beam, and even as his ice sphere struck the strange creature face-on the young Namikaze would flinch at the burst of light that it shot from his mouth. It was sheer dumb luck that Izzy's technique hit when it did, but it had spared them from another attack and gave room for the probable Kumo-nin to finish it off. With a sudden slackness that matched the fallen monster, Izzy felt the strength and energy leave his limbs, sitting heavily on the ground and holding his head in his hands. The boy was filthy - ash and dirt mixed with sweat and rain to turn his skin into a streaked mess, his hair and clothing even worse. Everything in their little hole in the ground seemed strangely quiet after the moments of furious activity, though it was a welcome reprieve no matter how momentarily it may prove to be. Izzy was exhausted. Fear had driven him [technically it was the adrenaline, but that was a direct result of the fear], and the young boy wasn't terribly surprised to find that he was trembling. Well, perhaps shaking would be a better description, as he took heavy gasping breaths in the lull while he had the chance. Fear and fatigue were probably the biggest reasons why the tall Kiri-nin didn't have him to stand back up yet, but this was mingled with relief. The monsters had been defeated. He was alive. The others... Izzy jerked, his head lifting as he looked around the crater, locating the strange ninja who had fought alongside him. "You okay? Everyone alright?" He would ask, voice anxious. He was relatively unharmed - there were probably some scrapes and bruises underneath all this mess, but nothing particularly painful or life threatening. He could've sworn he saw some bird-woman thing enter their crater and go after the woman, but there was no sight of it now. He hoped they weren't going to be attacked for at least a moment or two. The ground was strangely comfortable, and wouldn't mind forgetting about the battles that likely raged around them for a moment longer. Haruyuki... Izzy felt a squeeze in his chest, concern for the man that was as much his friend as he was the Namikaze's mentor. He would be safe. He had to be.
wolfnin Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 (edited) Fate it seemed, had sided with him at the very moment while the beam of orange shot straight up into the rain clouds above. The ice sphere had fortunately managed to strike the yokai, which gave Sato ample time to blast the face of the beast into nothingness. One could not be sure if the yokai had a sense of memory, but if they did the last thing the creature would see was not of the average shinobi, but the soul-less and icy-glare of a former hunting shinobi. It was a glare that could burn through the soul and 'freeze' the blood of men. His eyes never lingered from the face of the beast as the blast of lightning and wind tore the face asunder. It was a stare fitting for the end of a creature that had caused so much pain. As the beast landed onto the ground and sent a wave of wind and dirt outwards, the Kumogakure shinobi landed on top of the yokai, his eyes still remained staring at the center of the hole created. Through his perspective time seemed to have slowed down while the man watched the blue chakra seep out from the dissolving hand. Despite the fact that the beast had tried to kill them, he felt pity for the beast as well as had some respect for his now deceased foe. These beasts seemed to have no emotions, no sense of directions, but yet they had similar features to the creatures that inhabited the world, so perhaps, in a different time, could they live in harmony? The world was a cruel place and for those who were not strong enough to survive, they perished along with the others. "In the end...the strong live and the weak die. That's the ugly truth of the world, I won't deny that, but if you're weak and you survive, you can become strong." The last few words of the sentence trailed off as Sato felt his hands and right knee touch the goo, dirt, mud, and blood-filled dirt beneath him. The lightning which surrounded him from his bloodline dissipated as he returned back to his normal state. The rain once again soaked his clothing, though it provided a soothing comfort for his wounds. The Senuskai would grip his arm as the full effects of coming close to depleting his chakra pool were now taking their toll. This was supplemented by the heavy breathing pattern that he now found himself in. They had survived, but he needed a few minutes to restore his chakra to a suitable level. He would let out a soft chuckle, followed by a sigh of relief that he had managed to survive the chaos that had occurred. "Yea, I'm fine. My chakra is a bit low, so I'll need a few minutes." As he spoke, Sato turned towards the young namikaze and looked the shinobi in the eyes. "You did good kid, without you those yokai would have done more damage than just an arm and shoulder scrape. What's your name, kid? Mine's Sato." With the end of his sentence, he released the grip on his arm and rested his hand onto his right knee. Though they were from different villages, they had managed to somewhat form a decent team in taking down the yokai. The thought of a team would lead Sato to a different train of thought as he scanned around him, searching for a specific person. It was not long before he scouted the person he was searching for, the female shinobi that was inside the trench as well. "Hey, Kikuya, was it? All you alright?" The two had met at a local bar back in metropolis; though with all that went on, the Kumogakure shinobi was surprised he remembered the girl's name. Despite his own battered body, he felt relieved that they had survived this battle with their lives. However, they could not be sure they were safe from danger. One could only hope that the next danger would come several minutes later, giving them some time to rest. Sato's eyes ventured upwards as he watched the rain descend from the clouds. "The strong live and the weak die, huh? I disagree; the capability of surviving has nothing to do with being strong or weak." His lips transitioned into a soft smile, the rain seemed to bring a blissful peace. [732 words post/5595 words total] Edited January 9, 2013 by wolfnin
Azure Posted January 9, 2013 Author Posted January 9, 2013 Below him the beast thrashed violently as if it were a living earthquake. Luckily he had sprung off the Gargantua’s back, but that freedom had sacrificed his mobility. The yokai was reaching up, trying to swat him away and Yatako knew if he were caught, he would not easily get back on this thing. With a quick flip of a seal Yatako pushed a current of wind away from him that would speed his evasion. Thankfully the shinobi below were landing hits on the yokai, effectively whittling the beast down bit by bit as the Hokage neared his mark. Were they absent, Yatako feared that he would have been swatted back on the ground and trampled upon. Great bursts of light flashed before his eyes as lightning fell ahead of him and cleaved one of the heads to oblivion. He saw water chakra swirling around the beast and it reminded him of the discovery he had made. “Water is effective!” He called out into the wind, aiming to organize their attack and praise the ones who had already done so. Pleasantly, Mizujin was owning up to his new title as ANBU, even without his mirror eye and to Yatako, that was far more praise than if the Uchiha relied only on his Sharingan. Yes, those eyes were incredibly powerful, but when one silences their trueborn gift and finds success from their bareback, sweat and creativity, that is truly remarkable. Though it was still in his interest to get his bloodline unlocked once again. Pushing his trajectory back on course, Yatako would fall into the line of sights of the two remaining faces, heinously bubbling with fire. The intent on their unchanging faces was clear: they demanded penance. The two streams of molten orange and white tore from the faces and slashed towards him with dangerous speed. Opening the gates of his tenketsu, the Hyuuga began to flood his body with chakra and began to spin as if he were dancing. The motion and chakra encased him in a spiraling cyclonic egg that met the lasers head on. .: Hakkehsou: Kaiten :.(Divine Cyclone) Upon collision, the egg shaped chakra whirlwind cried and seared and shook but the Hokage was pushing strong like an asteroid against the attack. The white chakra that surrounded him tinted a heavily bleached shade of orange, signifying the power of the lasers. Yet as they hit him, the lasers reflected off the cyclone's surface, spinning wild arrays hitting the beast back with its own laser. Inside the shell, he was trying to aim the laser back at the faces, but his success was yet to be verified. His path was set to land right on the top of the Gargantua’s head, right in between the two faces. Hopefully they would cease their laser show or be diverted before it broke his shield and he was singed to a crisp. [8215] ••• Haruyuki could feel his fingers press into the bird, letting out a squeal of steam and hissing chakra. Living chakra had an oddly whole touch to it, whereas the chakra molded into ninjutsu melted away in just a couple of seconds. It was remarkable, as was his effect on the reforming bird. As his seal was inlaid, the bird’s body would fill with blue flamed kanji while Haruyuki’s fingers dug deeper into the bird yokai like he was smashing it in his hand. When he realized his frustration was starting to show, the Hisame released his grip and shoved the smoking and crying bird from his possession like a smoking corpse that had its fine meat torn from it. The bird began to twist into blue specks of chakra floating around, trying to wiggle out of the prison. No doubt it would be able to find little cracks to fade into. With a flick of his wrist, his sword appeared in his hand like lighting. He popped the crystal tip off and touched it to the snowflake buckler writing in a secondary seal. The sword began to resonate softly and the motes of blue chakra swelled back, as if they were invited to nourish on the chakra within Kakuyuki. When they laid on the sword, it quickly absorbed it and was sealed within. Although a shattered piece of its former self, maybe it could be studied later, regardless it would unable to reform.Still within the darkness of his prison, Haruyuki shaped a string of seals that would break light into his encampment. The demonic mirrors melted away and trickled into a growing body that quickly took on shapes of himself. Normally this clone would be a hefty creation, but the materials were already set before him to ease the transition.“Stand guard for the Tree and keep trying to find Raz.”He would never abandon his best friend, but the tangle with the bird excited his urgency to find Izzy. Even though the boy was in Alba’s good paws, he wasn’t entirely comfortable with it. In this village of death, it was his duty to protect his student until his own grave. A rush of wind replaced Haruyuki as he traveled far from the ice mirror clone and back into the battle. He zipped along the tops of buildings, nearing closer to the giant Gargantuan, catching the tail end of laser spitting out of it, directed at something behind it. Like a shadow without a master, Hisame Haruyuki appeared through a veil of dust and wind. His ravenous hair was far dirtier than he would have liked it, but he was largely intact. His voice was clam, but in the edge of the rain and roars it may have come as a whisper. “Izzy.” [4489] ••• Squeezing her dull orange eyes shut to block out the white flash the was peeling at the corners of her face, threatening to conquer the shadows that saved her sight, Lilina could feel the dull ache of her eye muscles reacting to being clenched so tight. Little streaks of green and orange forming shapes and shapeless lines in her eyelids appeared right before she heard two distinct thuds behind her. Ren. Yue. She didn’t know why she realized it was them (or at least thought it was) but she twirled around so quickly she nearly tripped over her own feet. Her eyes shot open, but when she managed to take a step she actually did manage to trip over her feet. The guitar on her back twanged like the earth was trying to play a distressed note. Her hands slapped the torn up ground when she pushed herself back up with fresh scratches licking her palms. They reddened and the scrapes bled slightly, but she had eyes only for her boys. Yet again she ran ahead and they suffered consequences. This time she wasn’t going to argue whose fault it was. “GUUUUUUUUUUUUYS!” It was the first time she referred to them both as a collective unit instead of individuals. In a gust of wind and dust, her little body looked as if it were gliding towards her fallen team. The black chakra that had sifted the seas of time saved her from getting caught, but alas her team was not as fortunate. A stark chill ran through her heart, realizing her team may have died for she saw no movements. The back of her eyes warmed, signifying tears were imminent and she said a silent prayer to a deity she never paid attention to before to make her boys live. Her heels hit the ground when Ren popped his head up and began to lift himself from the wake of the fire. She held a hand over her face, trying to find her choked voice and prevent the saline water from filling her eyes. She probably looked a shade paler, but the longer she went unnoticed, the better. They weren’t going to see her cry. Not yet.So the Niayume girl stood as a silent ghost to see the arguing boys go at it again. Part of her couldn’t help but smile in relief. If they had enough strength to argue, they would live. It wasn’t often that Lilina abstained from an argument with Team Oto, but this time she stayed out of it. She knew there was a deeper rift between the two boys that stretched to a time before she met them. Though when Ren finally thanked her, she cocked an eyebrow in mild confusion. Did he mean for the lightning? Maybe, although he scolded Yue for the fire so perhaps that wasn’t it, or he was being a deliberate dick to his teammate (entirely possible). Maybe for the extra speed, not like he used it. Or the fact that she actually touched him like a human being rather than regarding him as a plague bearer, although one doesn’t use a touch. Maybe it was just for the reliance and respect to give Ren the chance to prove himself, which meant Yue robbed that from him. That was possible. She…was going to let that one go, even though they yelled at her for jumping in front of Raz’s bullet using her survival skills like Ren was about to use his speed. “No…problem.” She muttered lightly with a frog caught in her throat. When she cleared it, her voice returned to its normal pitch and strong like normal. Awesome, no tears. Her attention turned to the seething Yue, who deserved a bit of respect even if Ren wasn’t going to give it to him. “That was smart thinking Yue, nice work.” It was about as heartfelt as it was going to get coming from Lilina, and there was no sarcasm! The quietly agreed to follow as the group picked up its pace once again, nearing now to a building in the shadow of a gigantic tree. The rain had become something nonchalant and barely noticeable anymore, although it was still present. Yue was adamant about getting to that tree, but Ren had a twinge of duty to help the person he somehow sensed and warn them about how to defeat the bird yokai. She calculated the differences on both decisions, thinking about her input. “Yue’s right, we have to get to that tree. We’ll just have to assume that the person fighting can kill it or hold on until we found Raz.” What a massive irony it would be if that person was Raz. These kids didn’t exactly have the luxury to play the rescue game. Ren had a compassionate heart for worrying…but their main objective was from Raz and Raz alone. He was their allegiance-head, none else as cold as that was to believe. Her eyes were lifted to the sights of walking surrealism as she saw phantoms lingering in the village around the tree. ” WHATTHEHELL.” She gasped in a menagerie of surprise, shock and fear. Dead things should be dead, but were they even dead? They morphed between transparency and thick white globs of people walking about like nothing was wrong. Sometimes there were many, other times they were few. Were these their souls? Actual souls trapped in limbo? Lilina gingerly touched her hand to her chest to feel the pulse of her heart and remind herself she was alive. These souls looked…different than her own. Was her corrupt, while theirs was pure? She gulped, knowing this sight would haunt her for some time and yet the stress in her desensitized her enough to keep her focused. “I think we found the villagers…we’ll just let one of them show us in. ” There was no right for her to keep as calm as she was when in the presence of ghosts, or what she thought was ghosts. The NCIA training embellished her with this type of emergency control behavior and while she had this training all along, It rarely showed. Most of what she encountered in terms of emergencies were tied to her emotions, so it never got a chance to manifest until now.She saw an outline of whom she believed was a woman, holding something behind her- a child tailing along, clearly with the ambition that they shouldn’t be there…or just didn’t want to be. Children often didn’t want to follow their parent’s orders, especially while being dragged there. The woman stopped a couple of times to address the child, probably scold them and continue on. The woman walked past the building Team Oto was hanging by and continued on the main street towards the Harakage Tree as if there wasn’t a huge battle in the market place. Lilina motioned for them to creep around with her, although it seemed like yokai were more apt to use a sonar chakra system than their eyesight so it was debatable whether creeping was necessary. It turned out as they got closer, the Harakage Tree was a building built into a tree. She supposed the equivalent for Otogakure would be a building built into…a rice patty. Or a drum. While watching the family walk, she couldn’t help but wonder where the father was…surly if he were around the child wouldn’t have to be dragged. They were just going to the Harakage’s Tree, maybe to get an update on the father’s mission…and then they were gone. “Come on!” [8565]
cntrstrk14 Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 ooc: Lemon and Terrick, I'll give you until the end of the day on the 13th to post up before I go on without you. Only Azure/Lemon/Terrick are in range of the Gargantuan right now and in the interest of time and how I have time laid out no one would be able to get close enough to help until at least after my next post.
Terrick Sukrai Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 (edited) (Sorry, I was only able to read the others' posts over the week due to lack of computer+keyboard. Only now getting the chance to type) Once again Terrick grinned as his attempts succeeded in causing the demon to rear back in pain, before seeing the two spawn on its shoulders attack the Hokage on its back. Shaking his head, the grass-nin loosened his chains again. "At this rate they may as well install an elevator on the thing..." Leaping upwards to land on the creature's right shoulder, Terrick tried to move fast, knowing that the flesh of the creature could turn into tar again if he wasn't quick enough. Charging at the spawn while it was busy with the Konoha-nin, the jounin hoped to get the drop on it once more. This time, Terrick slid behind the demon in question, attempting to use his agility to maximize the damage of a Might of Ages (Jurei Isei) on the otherworldly head, claws slashing and tearing while the spikes embedded in the toes of his footwear would likewise damage with kicks. Once the Thorn Style strikes were completed, regardless of whether they did anything or not, the jounin would quickly switch over to the Ox style, grasping his metal-clad hands together before slamming them against the demon's bulk in a textbook attempt at the Crashing Slabs technique... ************************************************************************ Falling to the ground gently, the Iwa bunshin finally spotted something near the Harakage's Tree. A smear of blood at a side entrance marked that someone was still alive inside, and if so, that was where the clone was headed. Stepping inside, it looked about for a moment to make sure it wasn't a trap before following the scarlet trail up the stairs. Whoever it was must have been hurt bad... "Raz? Is that you? Is anyone here?" the clone called out. Edited January 13, 2013 by Terrick Sukrai
Eechi-go Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 (edited) Raz would stop in his climb up the stairs as he unwillingly sensed something approaching. His neck jerked to the side to shoot a glance down the stairs, causing yet another rush of pain to blow through his insides and make him shudder. It was Terrick, and he felt a wave of relief over his body which was quickly followed by a torrent of anger bubbling up in him that he didn't understand. The corrupt, wild chakra that had been crackling around him started to grow even more violent, and at least to Terrick, it would probably be a sight he had seen before a long, long time ago in Kiri. His hand would raise without his permission, before jerking backwards and then flying forward like a whip. This sudden movement would cause a ridiculous torrent of wind to blast forward with enough pressure to not only completely demolish the clone, but to blow open a rather impressively sized hole in the side of the Harakage Tree. But right before clone was inevitably obliterated, words echoed throughout its mind that would be carried back to Terrick upon its death. The voice was familiar and domineering, and were powerful enough to almost deafen Terrick when they returned. This would likely give the medic insight into exactly why Raz had just randomly lashed out at his clone. "YOU WILL NOT INTERRUPT." Raz would gain control of himself again, but his eyesight began to get even worse now that the whole world began spinning faster. Terrick was gone now, and he couldn't remember what had just happened. Was that truly Terrick? Or was that another hallucination. Regardless, that torrent of wind that he used to rip through a hole at the base of the tree had taken alot out of him, causing him to fall back against the stairs. His eyes gazed up towards the ceiling, seeing the exit to the top of the tree where he assumed Korin was. His breath became more ragged and hitched as desperation was setting in. He'd flop back onto his stomach, whimpering at the endless pain before starting to slowly but surely claw his way up step by step again. "I'm here to give it my all or die trying. You can't stop me from doing that! I won’t let you hurt Raz.” 387 Words 8,739 Total Edited January 14, 2013 by Eechi-go
Leon Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 (edited) Lilina and Yue had spoken, they would continue to the tree. While Ren was originally going to protest he noticed just a moment later that the chakra signatures had died down in the distance. Someone had won the battle, and Ren hoped it was a friend. What happened next would not surprise the speedster however. A mob of chakra floated in the village square surrounding the tree, shells of beings long passed from this world. Ren observed as they flowed in and out of ‘existence’, each one with its own unique chakra signature. The group was most likely shocked by it, but this is essentially what Ren had felt the whole time. Now it was just brought to eyesight. Lilina chimed in, obviously disturbed, that they had found the villagers. “Meer shells” Ren spoke grimly, “perhaps residual chakra from their lives. Maybe from the way they died?” Ren hated to sound so bleak about the situation but it was the truth in his eyes. Although Lilina’s idea of allowing the ‘ghosts’ to show the way was well thought. If one of them just happened to know a way in it would surely help the team. Unfortunately the site was not on the team’s side, and Lilina was beginning to suffer some form of toll from witnessing this. Ren put his hand on her to remind her that the team was here right now. She seemed mesmerized by a woman and her daughter in particular, not surprising considering the information she had once told Ren. Perhaps Lilina felt somewhat attached to the mother and daughter for a life she never had? The chunnin would find her courage and bring the team closer to the tree, at which point it was revealed to be a building INSIDE the tree. Now it all made sense! Ren would proclaim in his head. Once more Lilina led the crew forward, pressing for the tree. As they cautiously moved through the spirited crowd, Ren would not help but reach out and touch one. There was no feeling, nor did the chakra even change to the contortion of his hand. Rather all remained as it was, frozen in time. The thought worried Ren slightly as they continued along. Would they too be people trapped inside this bottle? Or were they already trapped just by wandering into the ghost field? Lilina reminded him that he was still here when they reached the Harakage office. The group threw itself against the walls of the building, displaying at least some symbol of training. Ren was the one to speak now, “There are three chakra signatures in the building. All of them different, and yet all of them appear to be only fractions of their strength. It is an unusual feeling…” Ren would signal for the group to follow single file behind him. He reached for the door for a moment before turning to face the team. He gave a nod to his friends in case it was the last time they saw him before entering the building. Ren poured into room after swiftly opening the doors. No one was there to greet him for the moment. After the rest of the team would arrive he would take a breather. The stress of this situation was starting to pile on top of his fatigue. His ribs ached constantly as his diaphragm expanded. Those would be a bitch to heal. Looking across his team Ren would try and locate the source of the chakras, taking a moment to clear his head. They were directly above the group right now, and they were about to be right on top of each other. Ren signaled for the stairs and began to make his way up. BAM! A gust of wind filled the stair case for a moment as a loud crashing sound was heard above the group. The wind threatened to pick Ren off of the stairs before he put his chakra into those lucky feet of his. Ren turned to face the group, a slight look of fear dwelling on his face, “Now there are only two sources left”. The group would continue on and in just a minute they would see a very familiar face… (ooc: and were caught up to Raz now. Sorry for the shitty post :/) [717/8078] Edited January 15, 2013 by Leon
cntrstrk14 Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 “SSSHHHHHHRAWWWWWWWWWWROOOOOOOMMMMAAAAAAAAAASHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!” The beast bellowed in a voice that sounded like the winds rushing through a thousand caverns. The depth of the voice would rattle the nearby buildings and cause nearby ear to want to be quickly covered. It would not hurt the ear drum, just make things very uncomfortable. As the Hokage deflected lasers back at the beast, it barely seemed to notice them as they struck its tar like skin, sending splashes of goo into the air. At each point the skin would shift and glow, unlike earlier when it would simply absorb the attack. The energy had no where to go now, and the beast's form was beginning ripple and churn almost like a liquid. Terrick would find it easy to sneak up behind the beast, its attention was on the Hokage with his appetizing source of chakra. It's giant maw opened up and began to close in towards the Hyuuga, looking to overwhelm the puny insect in front of him where the small lasers failed. The beast's head would tremor as the first blows struck from Terrick, causing ripples to ebb from the point of impact almost all throughout the body. It was like he had struck a bag of water, and the ripples flowed across the skin in an eerily similar fashion. With each passing moment the beast was becoming less and less solid. The Gargantuan, as if not noticing Terrick's strikes despite the deeply upsetting ripples and indentations it caused, continued to close down on the Hokage. It was now gaping maw vs. Hokage. ---------- Yokai TrackerGargantuan: City Square [Yatako, Terrick, Mizujin] ○ Spawn 1: Destroyed (Mizujin) ○ Spawn 2: Destroyed (Sato & Izzy) ○ Spawn 3: Gargantuan's Head ○ Spawn 4: Destroyed (Sato & Izzy) ○ Spawn 5: Gargantuan's HeadBird 1: Destroyed (Ren & Yue)Bird 2: Destroyed (Syaoran)Bird 3: Destroyed (Kikuya)Bird 4: Destroyed (Haruyuki)
Rhap Sodos Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Izzy actually felt a small surge of bashful pride at the compliment. It gave him a nice warm fuzzy feeling inside that mixed rather nicely with the relief that knowing the others weren't hurt brought. It helped take the edge off the fear that Izzy had been feeling since they arrived in Kusa to find it under attack, with the Syaoran-thing and the giant monster and ninja waaaaay out Izzy's league. It wasn't over, but they had all survived. Always a good thing in Izzy's book. Smiling at the foreign nin, Izzy would realize that they had, in fact, not been introduced, which if it weren't for the deadly situation they had been thrown into the minute the young Namikaze arrived in Kusa, would have been a rather rude and unforgivable oversight in Izzy's eyes."Thanks! Oh, and my name is..." “Izzy.” Izzy squeaked, body twisting to face the voice behind him fast enough to hurt. Actually, by the look on Izzy's face, it had hurt. Probably pulled a muscle. "Haruyuki." The relief in Izzy's voice was palpable, as though a huge weight had been lifted from his shoulder. The Hisame was alright, which meant [to Izzy's mental calculations] that everything was going to be alright. "Wait, that's not right." Izzy suddenly said, turning back around. "I'm Izzy. This is Haruyuki." The tall Kiri-nin continued from his seat on the ground, wanting to make sure the Kumo-nin got their names straight. Izzy wasn't entirely sure if Haruyuki needed an introduciton, but it never hurt to be polite. "It's nice to meet you too, Sato! Thanks for you help." Izzy said, finally taking the effort to pull himself back up to his feet."Where is everyone else? Do you know if they're okay? Did you find Syaoran?" The fear that the Alchem had somehow been responsible still clung to the boy, and the realization that only a fraction of their original party was present. Where was Lilina, and Ren, and Raz? What about all the others?
1Q84 Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 "Do any of your realize how fucked up this is?" Yue said in a heated whisper as he followed his teammates something about the situation making him feel as though raising his voice would be inappropriate or disrespectful and would likely just get them more unwanted attention. "Or how fucking crazy you sound?" Yue added to Ren wondering when the dumbass had developed this crazy chakra sensing viewing skill or whatever. Hell maybe he really had gone fucking crazy at this point. "They're people." Yue didn't have any emergency response training or the ability to be cool and analytic about the situation or whatever the hell Ren and Lilina were telling themselves to ignore the fact that thousands of people who were dead. If his teammates were right about these things being the souls or ghost of Kusagakure they were talking about an entire fucking Village being wiped from the map. When Raz had said that Kusagaukre was gone he had expected an attack like the one in Metropolis only this was far worse than something than that. There were no signs of a fight or a struggle or that there was the possibility that someone had managed to survive or even had the chance to. The entire population of people were gone, or maybe trapped in some weird eternal limbo but still gone with no explanation or reason for it. "Fuck." Yue swore again more to himself than anything wondering what the hell they were supposed to do and feeling pretty helpless at the entire situation. He also couldn't help but think about Otogakure and wonder what the hell was going on there. If they didn't know what caused an entire VIllage to be gone than there was no way of stopping it from happening again. Torn between pissed off and being freaked out by the situation Yue didn't have it in him to be sarcastic about Ren's bullshit commando bravado antics as he kept the team moving. Let any of them had any idea of what they were doing and what they were facing. If it made the dipshit feel important and in control so fucking be it. As Ren paused to catch his breath Yue looked around noticing that something had been splattered against the ground. As they moved closer to the stairs Yue got a closer look and instantly went tense. Blood. Yue stopped in his tracks thinking for a second. Did the yokai bleed? He couldn't remember seeing any of the bird-fish things bleed and there had been no signs of blood anywhere else in the village. Chances were pretty fucking good it was human blood and the blood of someone that had come with them. And there was a shit ton of it which meant that there was probably someone seriously harmed nearby, like painting the fucking walls hurt. Shit, was that what Ren... felt, saw or whatever the fuck he was doing? Had somebody just died above them? They had no idea who or what the fuck was above them and if Ren was to believed there was still two of them. "God damn this is fucked up." Yue whispered again wishing they had never come to this Village. They should have gone back to Otogakure, or searched for Raz's kid. The only good thing about this situation was that if Hei had been kidnapped or was forced to flee from Raz's house the poor kid might actually be in a far better situation than all of them were currently in right now. Including Yue. Didn't stop Ren from continuing which meant Yue felt obligated to follow. Until they came across a sight that made Yue's eyes go wide. Raz, or whatever the hell was left of him had already reached the tree apparently. The crazy fuck looked more dead than alive, with his body burnt and torn to hell. It was like a punch to stomach when Yue realized that all that blood had belonged to their teacher. So fucking eager to chasing after Lilina, or god damn sure that the swirly-eyed bastard could look after himself and it look like he had been dragged through hell and back. There was also something seriously fucking wrong with him and not in the sense of how the hell was he even still breathing at this point. There was something that was holding that man together and Yue was pretty fucking sure what the fuck that something was it wasn't good. "... Raz?"
Cloudnine Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 The woman from Otogakure remained still as the dust settled. Even with the threat of beast gone, it seemed to take Sato a while to find her location, unmoving and submerged beneath a blanket of black goo. Kikuya coughed once to confirm her status, roughly so to spit out a wad of snot and sludge. “Leave me alone, I’m fine, thanks.” She retorted a bit too sharply. It was true though- Kikuya’s condition was stable. Exhausted as she is, merging with Karuna brought her replenishment in the form of the sound parasite’s undamaged health, meaning the woman was perfectly capable of finding her own feet instead of laying in a puddle of blood and goo. Rather her diagnosis was a stumble of her pride. Despite attaining jounin status through her achievements completing unscrupulous tasks quelling the uprising in Oto, Kikuya had yet to engage in a fight for her life until now. There was no glory to it, nothing like the tales of revolutionary battles she’d heard of against the NCIA. To say she’d taken the path of the shinobi [as her second job, of all things] for fame and riches wasn’t completely wrong. Coming into this encounter, the sound eater pictured a valiant conquering of evil... something so naive, and shortsighted coming from the same woman who fled the demon invasion of Metropolis prior. Instead, her condition wrought her from the inside- Kikuya scarcely saw this as a winning battle, and hadn’t yet mustered the courage to approach the massive demon. And now, she realized upon her damaged pride, that what she feared most here, what intimidated her to feebleness was not the demon’s wrath. What Hagemasu Kikuya feared most of the powers here was that of her allies... of their fearlessness for their own death. Kikuya had nothing worth fighting for. Her reasons had been nothing short of superficial, so short term and shallow that the shadows of the situation easily overshadowed her cause. None of her values were so firmly rooted to her soul to endure flood and winds, and so all Kikuya had to hold onto were the few silver coated hairpins she’d bartered from the festival stalls. Where she had scorned other shinobi for their dogged determinations she’d dismissed as all too simple minded, the woman now saw the emptiness inside her, which she had filled with silks, trinkets, and rich wrinkly men. True courage and true cause did not reside in Kikuya- and all along she had mocked everything that she lacked. It took all the meager courage within her to stand and brush off the dirt, both inside and out. That was the limit of Kikuya’s action as self doubt consumed her inhibitions. Nothing had prepared her for this, and now she realized it. None of her jutsu had been used outside of the practice arena. Her eyes locked onto the few figures lingering around the Gargantua, painfully jealous of their resolve.
Terrick Sukrai Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Pain blossomed behind Terrick's eyes as his clone was eradicated, causing him to stumble mid-combat and clutch at his head. Breath coming ragged for a moment, recognition came quickly as to who owned the voice that had spoken, causing the ninja to clench his jaws in anger and hate. "You son of a b*tch...." he muttered, before focusing his attention back to the fight. He couldn't waste any more time... Seeing that simply punching and kicking weren't doing anything, Terrick moved back behind the main head of the beast as it tried to devour the Hokage. "If punches don't get your attention, maybe THIS will!" he roared, before whipping his chains out to the sides. Chakra danced along each link, causing them to spin around and around, the blades going faster and faster, causing the air to start to shriek around them. Once they were up to speed, the long lengths lashed out, attempting to wrap as far around the beast's neck as they could, the barbed edges of the chains digging in and grinding, slicing, tearing away at the weakening flesh. Would it be enough though? "No matter how this ends, I'm going to rip your head off and mount it on the gates of this village you filth...! Let them all see what happens when you mess with Kusagakure no Sato!!!!"
Azure Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 [Ooc; Splitting my posts up to help move things along. Expect the other two shortly. And to avoid confusion, that is Haruyuki's clone.] Dim light cracked through the elder wooden hall as Team Oto spilled into its belly, guided on the wings of the chakra eminence. She felt no warmth or happiness from the shells, but they weren’t entirely lifeless, or at least she was seldom to start believing that. She didn’t want to, in the very least. When she was supposed to be taking a breather, all she could do was stare at her hand. Was her chakra just an ever occurring event vacuum? “Shells? More like ants trying to find their queen.” Chakra was living after all, her chakra was still chakra, like Ren’s with the only exception that it was hers. Maybe it was trying to find its way back to its host that was taken away too quickly…whatever that meant. Inside the chamber though, Ren was displaying his uncanny new ability to sense chakra at a much more attuned rate than the rest of them. He denoted that there were three in the Tree, which made her wonder why there were three- and especially in here and not out fighting. It would not take the prowess of an Oto-nin to hear the tumult of wind pouring from the staircase and wailing a thick crack of wooden thunder breaking apart from the tree. The wind whipped around her, fluttering her skirts and threatening to steal the air from her lungs was she not vigilant. Her eyes darted to Ren, the known culprit of the wind works, but to her knowledge, he had done nothing. Logically, the only other culprit of the massive wind strike should have been…! Her breath seized in her chest at the momentary elation of possibly finding their sensei, followed quickly by the dark and ominous boom of something terrible. Even in the dim light, one could see a distinct trail of something dark on the stairs as they approached, a very something that could only be akin to blood. One of the three sources was bleeding, which led her to realize that at least two of the sources needed to be human. Yokai didn’t bleed, nor did clones. Summons could still bleed, but the Harakage Tree would have looked a hell of a lot pregnant if Gamabunta were inside of it. Lilina had the palpable sense that Yue was freaked out beyond belief and if she were not primed in the ways of the NCIA version of self discipline, she too, would have been crumpled over and distraught like a pale flower puking. “We have to follow it. If it leads to Raz’s kid or wife, that would be our priority.” Although a kid should not have this much blood in his body and still have a body. That booming shout just seconds ago lingered above them, which should have told them to turn back. But Team Oto was not a group that was kind to suggestions. And then the world fell apart. Before them caked in blood, tissue and clearly visible bone was their red manned teacher. His iconic look was ravaged by what looked to be death itself and if his gore was strewn across the banisters, she would have taken him for dead, but miraculously he was alive. But were all miracles pure and good? Her words chocked up on her throat, but her hands reached out for her teammates, anchoring them so that they wouldn’t spring at their teacher. There was a fury and an animalistic hurry to his breaths. They were labored with knives and pain was screaming from his body. It was a wonder Raz himself was not hoarse with voicing the horrid nightmare that had befallen him. A haunting green hue breathed along with him in a chakra that didn’t feel right. “…all demons have a nasty stench. Here I thought it was only the fish ones.” There was a calm and controlled voice that echoed not too far from Raz, but not in front of them either. The voice would trail to a figure clad in darkness with icy blue eyes staring from the hole that opened from the blast of wind. It was vaguely familiar and when she finally realized it was that creepy ice dude that was bros with Raz…and yet he was just looking at his friend like he was judging art with cold reservation. “Demons…like a Bijuu?” Her eyes followed back to Raz and suddenly the shadowy gravity that radiated off of him made sense…but why he had that, she couldn’t fathom. “Yes. Channeling through Raz’s curse seal. It might be the only thing keeping him alive right now.” Which might be why the icy man wasn’t acting. He was trying to figure out how to circumvent the demon and save his friend…but something had to be done! This man was the one who sent a hopless girl cloud in dark tragedy a ray of hope to think it was still possible to not be evil. Even when her world was convinced she was, he dared her to write her own story in the light. Her finger brushed by the heirloom left by her mother in love, the first person (Raz being the second) to encourage her that fate was a menace to be defied, or a fiction entirely. "Well, it's good to have something important to you to keep as a memento. You'd be surprised what kind of situations you'd be able to overcome with a simple reminder of why you're fighting in the first place. Now, my favorite crazy girl, let us begin!” “Raz…don’t give in to that thing. You taught me that something a simple like a reminder is all the fuel you need to overcome ANYTHING!” With that, Lilina zipped off the vest he had given her and tossed it to him. The steel grey vest was far from shimmering, but the precious symbol of it would hopefully be enough for the man. The time worn and memory scarred vest came to a halt right below Raz, but he would need to make conscious effort to touch it. “It was your wife’s. Defacting from the NCIA had its own demons around it, but she succeeded. She’s been walking with you ever since.” Even now. The sentimental were not her specialty, but sometimes she could make a hallway decent attempt at something most people took for granted. [9621]
Azure Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 The Hokage felt as though a thousand ages were passing by him as the beast let out a gargantuan howl in a language he never heard of. He could feel his bones vibrate from the sound as if a heavy chill was rattling them mercilessly. Luckily, the lasers had successfully been deflected, but it appeared as though they weren’t as effective on the beast as they were a human. They still were kicking up an amount of goo, slowly but surely whittling down the Gargauntua. The skin on the yokai appeared to be melting, as thought it was going through an awkward shift right before his eyes. He hoped that it was a sign of weakness, but he realized it could very well be a shifting dynamic in the yokai’s fighting. He prayed it was weakness. The moment of elation faded to a sense of deep dread as the Gargantua presented its teeth instead of a head for the Hokage to find footing on. He, of course, was the center of its attention now and it was inescapable that he be presented with some of the most dangerous scenarios, especially with being how close he was. The maw in front of him breathed the winds of hell from its deepest catacombs, and he was but a firefly in the wind. So small, but no less important. For it was unwise to claim that size measured importance. Children were often regarded with some of the highest importance, despite their size- their presence or lack thereof often dictated the highways which civilization and the individual took. Yatako would be no more bold if he was without his daughter Zelfie, but due to her presence in his life he was indelibly more perceptive of his health in hazardous situations. His determination of survival was exponentially higher than ever, even though he faced being swallowed alive. He was not like to be bold enough to welcome such things with a yawn, but he was still akin to believe that there was still an ounce of opportunity should he be devoured. His faith allowed him the ability to dare to believe in the unlikely. The Wantentei would not abandon him in this hour of need, or so he held on to this mantra. “Orhalo let this work.” .: Haro za no Bachi :.(The Halo of Retribution) It quick succession, it would appear as though the Hokage was merely striking at the air in a futile attempt to appear heroic while accepting his fate as monster food. On closer instepction though, it appeared as though every where his hand landed, a mote of chakra was left in its wake, forming a geometric circle with a link of chakra connecting the motes, the size of his armspan. When he was finished, the chakra halo released a ray of energy and expanded, growing to a greater size than the Hokage, at it attempted to create a brace for the Gargantua’s maw that would prevent it from snapping shut and crushing Yatako fully. Should the structure work, the Gargantua would also find it to be surprisingly painful to try and chomp down. Connected to two of the motes of chakra were chakra tethers that would support the Hokage if his halo was successful. If not, he would find himself slipping into the yokai’s mouth unless he was met with added assistance. [8772] ••• A wicker smile crossed Haruyuki’s lips as he approached his student. For once he didn’t move alongside photons, but rather took each step with time. A dull ache seethed from his bones, announcing that his body was complaining due to the amount of movement he was doing oft, but he squandered that away. He merely wished to take solace in the sight that his student was okay. There was chaos ensuing around, but the Hisame acted as though it was dull background music . To most, the train would be quite the distraction and unfortunate fault of Mother Nature, but to the Kiri-nin, the rain was something more surreal. It was a quiet strength and control, to which there was little rival.“Everyone is fine Izzy. A little beaten and bloody, but not worse for the wear. Syaoran is keeping under control.”There was no reason to rob Izzy of the feeling of miniature security he would feel with the Hisame’s arrival by telling him that he failed to find Syaoran and lost track of Raz and really wasn’t paying attention to the youth that Izzy invested friendship in. A more honorable man would have refused to lie to his student, but Haruyuki cared more for Izzy’s mental well being than honor. Though not exactly a paragon in right, he had select compassion.“Thanks for looking after Izzy. I think this ordeal has lasted a little too long. We’d do well to strike when it’s distracted. Izzy, I need you to form ice platforms around the market where I lay syrup for the ninja to be able to move around and not get caught. Alba, keep Izzy out of harm.”He was not going to lose his student today, he refused that option. It was not hard to deduct that because giant lasers weren’t flying overhead and no other yokai was inhabiting the lands with them that they were moderately off the grid, and prime to launch an attack at it, regardless of effect. Clearly the shinobi were wearing down, but to Haruyuki that didn’t mean they had any luxury. Not yet. Although he didn’t address the Oto-nin in the crater, he still held her to this expectation too. With a flip of a seal, the Hisame created an incline of steps that lifted out of the crater, but stayed a fair distance from the Gargantua. Rushing up them like a gust of wind, he leapt closer into the market square.“Don’t get caught in the syrup!” ≈|:: Suiton: Mizuame Nabara ::|≈(Water Release: Syrup Capture Field) Out from his mouth poured a watery and syrupy substance that was really and strangely sticky that would pool around the market square and clump up around the Gargantua’s feet. The substance would become incredibly hard to move in for anything that got trapped in it, save for one who could travel water well.--Haruyuki’s ice clone stayed pretty stationary, monitoring its surroundings up until the point that a gaping hole appeared in the Harakage’s tree. It was a fairly decent sign that something was pretty wrong. Taking its leave, the clone bound up the tree with much less speed than its creator. When it eventually reached the hole, it squatted, spotting a bleeding, burned and abhorrent figurine of Raz. A pang of alarm swept around the clone, until it confirmed that the labored Raz was in fact still in the realm of the living. Even then it was a hard sight to bear. Luckily or unluckily this was also the moment that his team appeared, which could either make things better or much much worse. A green aura twitched off Raz and it didn’t take the clone long to access the mental chasms of its creator to know that there was sealing involved. Having been in Kiri to bear witness to Raz’s curse seal gone rampant, it did not take long for it to deduce the origin of the aura. But the telltale sign that something was amiss was the strange chakra pouring from it. After fighting Sanbi, he discovered that demons had a very distinct sense about them.“…all demons have a nasty stench. Here I thought it was only the fish ones.”He replied to Raz’s team, while attempting to figure out how to deal with it. Perhaps the curse seal might see him as a threat, which would cause this image to float back to Haruyuki. That would inevitably send the master back in search of his friend with a bold determination to exorcise the demon. That wouldn’t do. The clone had the luxury of contemplation, instead of being fully consumed by a sense of responsibility to both Raz and Izzy. So for now he would simply observe and throw a bone to Raz’s team when needed.“Yes. Channeling through Raz’s curse seal. It might be the only thing keeping him alive right now.” [5295]
wolfnin Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 (edited) Sato's eyes would focus back onto ground level as he picked up movement through his peripherals. What he had spotted was the arrival of another shinobi, this one however, seemed to be of a different origin than the Otogakure shinobi that lurked about. Without the dust and wind that had come with the arrival of this new shinobi, he was able to almost arrive undetected, the thought which sent shivers down the Senuskai's spine. Despite the method of arrival, it was a relief that it was a shinobi instead of a new breed of yokai that was hell-bent on killing them. The Kumogakure shinobi watched musingly as Izzy introduced himself and the man who had appeared, Haryuuki. "Nice to meet you both." Sato responded towards the duo after introductions were said and done. It was always entertaining to meet new shinobi, despite their village of origin or their thoughts. The world contained many different types of people and despite their differences, everybody in this world had their own story to share. While Izzy turned towards Haryuuki to ask about the others, Sato directed his attention towards Kikuya's response, which was less than pleasant. He wasn't sure why he was met with such a tone when he questioned her, especially when she had been friendly back in Metropolis. One wondered what rang through her mind as she picked herself up, but as long as she was fine, that was all that mattered to Sato. It was not uncommon for the stress of the battlefield to bring out the worse of people. He let out a soft sight followed by a smile while he picked himself up and stood up, stretching his back and legs in the process. His bones and muscles ached from the energy he had exerted over a short period of time while fighting the hand yokai. The good news was that his chakra pool was restoring itself bit by bit. So much destruction had occurred over the past twenty-four hours and in this hour of madness, there was a strange peace that brought a smile to the Senuskai's face. Though it pained him to see so much destruction of the landscape, being able to protect the land that people once believed in was something worth fighting for. "We're all shinobi, if we don't defend each other, who will? Though, I agree, these yokai need to disappear." Despite what felt like a losing battle, each step brought them closer to a conclusion. Even if they manage to defeat the gargantuan, Sato could not call this a victory. Truth be told, he had no words to describe such a battle that raged on within Kusagakure, it was just complete chaos. However, there was no time to dwell on the philosophy and he didn't have the luxury to rest while the others moved themselves into battle. With the formation of the stairs, Sato followed promptly moving at a slightly slower speed than Haryuuki. Within mere seconds his eyes gazed upon the gargantuan once more and the destruction around it was one that sent an eerie chill down his spine. He was grateful that they were out of the trench and out into the open. With that, the Kumogakure shinobi leapt onto a nearby remains in order to avoid the sticky black fluid that littered the earth beneath them. Although he could not produce powerful jutsus as he had early, due to his somewhat low chakra state, his strength with ninjutsu would still make this technique a threat (hopefully). With the combination of hand seals, his jutsu took flight. Kaze Kami (Wind God) Several strong bullets created from the wind around him launched themselves towards the gigantic beast, their power increased by his natural affinity towards wind. Sato hoped that this would aid in distracting the beast as well as damage it; a simple and straightforward plan, but he had hopes it would aid in the defeat of this creature. As his attack went forward, Sato stood near the edge of the building as he waited for the ice platforms to be formed so he could jump on them. 1Q84 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 It was good foresight on Lilina's part to reach out and stop Yue from moving forward because the second he realized that the bloody beaten mess crumpled on the floor in front of them was their god damn teacher he wanted to lunge forward to help. His teammates hand his arm stopped Yue from dashing forward but his blue eyes didn't look anywhere else taking in all the injuries and the weird green aura that surround him. Yue didn't look away when somebody, that dipshit from Raz's place, started talking and frankly didn't give a shit about him or demons or bijuu or however the fuck they wanted to label what the hell was wrong with Raz. He only half listened to what Lilina was saying but jerked slightly when she threw her vest down. For reason it made him angry, angry that they were all just standing their watching him like he was suddenly going to pick himself up from the pile of blood and fucking walk it off. "He doesn't need a god damn pep talk he needs fuckin' help." Yue at Lilina as he pushed past her ignoring any attempts that she Ren or Haruyuki might have made to stop him and dropped to his knees next to Raz's fallen body. He didn't want to say what he actually thought, and that that with everybody else dead in the Village it was unlikely that Raz's wife had survived so bringing her up probably wasn't the best fucking idea right now. Shedding his own Chuunin vest he pulled out the small blade he always carried with him and used it to start tearing the vest apart. "So help me, you try an' leave me alone with these crazy fucks I will drag yo' sad sorry ass back from Hell myself." Yue muttered as he knealt next to Raz using his knife to cut strips of fabric from his Chuunin vest. It would probably do fuck all to help with Raz's injuries but it was a damn sight better than standing their feeling helpless and frustrated and afraid at his ability to do nothing. "Either that or I'mma send them packing to you. I bet the dumbass doesn't last a fuckin' day if you ain't here to stop me from killin' him." Yue didn't know why he was even trying to talk to the Raz when in this state only it was just one more thing he could do to keep his mind occupied instead of freaking the fuck out at the reality of their situation. Yue began with the Raz's arm knowing that with wounds that deep and extensive it probably didn't even hurt at this point with all the nerve tissue torn or burned away. He began to wrap the arm in the strips from his jacket knowing at this point it would do little but stop some of the bloodloss but it was something and with any luck it would be enough until they could get him some real help.
Leon Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) Never before had the team been so on edge, Ren’s throat became rasp as his gulps of air ravaged his neck, Lilina was ever the protector trying to keep the group together, and Yue… Yue wore his heart on his sleeve. Ren could tell that the man feared for the only teacher he had ever known, and right now that fear was eating him up. It was for this reason that Ren could not muster up the courage to inform his team mates of the duality of the chakra he was sensing. That it in fact belonged to only one person in the building, very similar to what they had experience with Syaoran only moments ago. The more disturbing fact was that the source belonged to someone quite familiar to the team, even loved. As the team crossed the blood drenched stairs the man came into sight, their teacher, their friend, their brother. Ren could feel his heart fall as if it was crushing every organ in his body with its immense weight. Silence filled the staircase despite the sounds of pouring rain and violent battles taking place not even a mile away from the team. Ren would lunge only to be stopped by Lilina’s arm before the man could get too far. His teacher laid before his eyes, broken for the first time that Ren had known him. This man had summoned god like toads, fought toe to toe with demons, and saved his village, yet all of that was for naught as his broken body bled out before the team. Eons seemed to pass as Ren’s mind went back to a farther place in time when Raz had first told the tenacious duo of Ren and Yue that he would be taking them under his wing. Memories began to merge together as the team moved forward into a portal that took them to a land so strange Ren felt ridiculous speaking about it out loud. There Ren learned more of his friend who became his mentor, teaching him the ways of the wind while showing Ren that he was not as useless as he believed. Time continued rolling as the man helped Ren prepare for the famous chunnin exams, and eventually the memories brought them to events just days ago. His friend encouraged Ren to go for his all in the tournament, and despite his failure embraced the teenager as an equal. Finally time seemed to slow as one memory began to shine above all others. Raz came to Ren and said he needed the team… their brother NEEDED them. The memory burned away like a flame to a photo as Ren came back to our world. ‘Breath’ a soft voice spoke to Ren as his mind returned to the present. Air had escaped from the man as breaths seemed to halt form the chunnin’s mouth. A soft breath was all that would relieve the lack of oxygen as Ren continued to wrap his head around the situation. Sound began to return, gargled at first as the haze faded quickly. What was once slow motion now returned to full speed, and the process was somewhat jarring. Ren noticed that his teacher burned with a green aura, the second source of chakra that Ren detected, as if the two were bound to one another. Previous experiences rolled into Ren’s mind about the dealings the group had with other demons, and the effects they could sometimes have. Yet somehow this was different, and the confirmation would soon come. Haruyuki, or a clone judging by its unusual amount of chakra, had appeared to offer his assistance. At least that was what Ren believed while the bastard stood there analyzing their fallen teacher, as if in protest to this Yue stormed away from Lilina’s grasp to help their teacher. Ren quickly followed suit in a slow shamble. He did not kneel like his team mate preferred but sat on the stair above Raz. The boy looked at his brother from a new view as he placed his hands on some of the open wounds, attempting to apply pressure to the wound. Blood greeted Ren’s hands as the warmth enveloped his palm, quickly followed by the green chakra caressing the new found flesh. Its perverse nature disgusted Ren who seemed to perceive the chakra on a different level than the others. Haruyuki brought truth to light, discussing the demonic nature that resided in Raz. The fact that the demon was keeping Raz alive would come surprising to most, but if Ren knew anything it was that the demon needed Raz to thrive. All demons needed a source of life force, in most cases chakra, in order to live and Raz was a gold mine. But even a demon had a limit to how fast or how long it could heal Raz. Yue would attempt to aid like Ren, by helping the exposed wounds, and tore whatever he could to wrap around Raz’s obliterated arm. The blood would continue to flow as Yue talked to himself, or perhaps it was directed towards Raz, exposing a side that Ren had never seen of the man before. Yue needed Raz as much as everyone else on this team, a fact that seemed lost to Ren. The man that Ren looked up to in some ways, though Ren would never admit it, needed someone else to lean on. Yue was exposed and the sight was an awkward one at best for Ren. Does he help his friend or let the man’s emotions take their course? For once Ren would not speak, allowing his teammate that precious moment of reprieve from the voice of one particular dumbass. Ren looked away from Raz and Yue for a moment to witness Lilina in her own sense of private hell. The vest of Raz’s wife laid on the ground, and Lilina seemed to be praying Raz would show some sign of life to come and get it. The girl was torn as she seemed to believe the man’s spirit would prevail over his body, but Ren knew that for once to many forces were at work against Raz. She was used to the man that could do it all, but right now he needed to the help of his family more than either of them could ever realize. But Ren knew that they were only battling against time itself right now. The demon consumed Raz with every second it tried to “help” him, for not even Raz could keep the demon’s hunger at bay forever. Ren would lean closer to his brother’s face as the man’s breathing became rasp and erratic. Ren did not know what to do, and for whatever reason Ren too decided it was time to talk to his teacher… and the thing inside of him. “Raz” when whispered into the man’s ear, “You mean more to us than you could ever imagine. This can’t be the end, you have to wake up. Your story doesn’t end here. Whatever you need to do to survive, do it.” Ren would pause for a moment as blood seeped through the small crevices between his fingers, fully engulfing his hands in blood now. The green aura continued to pulse around Raz’s body, violently wanting more to feed from. “He is the best of us” Ren said into Raz’s ear, “Whatever you need to take from me to bring him back you do”. Ren was hoping the demon would pop out and do an exchange like it had for Raz those many years ago. Ren was willing to offer himself to save his friend. [1272/9500] Edited January 22, 2013 by Leon
cntrstrk14 Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 As the maw closed down on the Hokage, the ring would not grow nearly large enough to close off the beasts mouth. It would however create a great brace that the beast could not close down on. The chakra used to make the attack would break down, motes of it floating off and absorbing into the beast as it tried to close on the Hyuuga. At the same moment the water syrup field would wrap around the beast's legs coating the area in a thick field of goo. This also, however, would only last a few moments as it two began to turn to motes and become absorbed into the beasts body. As Terrick's chains cut with their chakra as well, once again the absortion properties of the beast would take them in and wrap them in the body. And with each successful absorbtion, the beast's black tar like skin would become more and more unstable. With the last strike the world would seem to freeze for a moment in absolute silence. The beast stopped moving, the Gargantuan holding position as if it had been frozen in stone. Then, suddenly it would appear as if every atom in its body had suddenly come undone, blue chakra flying everywhere as the beast burst like a firework. The chakra would not cause damage to the surrounding area as it struck, stones and dirt were not even moved by it, but anything with chakra in it (namely those nearby) would feel each charged mote of chakra like a bullet that left no hole. If one was in the state of mind to actually analyze what had happened, the Hokage's breaking of the ring from earlier had destroyed the "release valve" of the beast. Every chakra based strike afterwards had then been energy into the beast with very little way of releasing it. After too much built up, its body was no longer able to hold it and "boom"- its physical manifestation exploded. Of course, it was highly unlikely that anyone was going to try and analyze it at this moment, they were probably more concerned for their health and possibly the well being of those around them. Probably. After the chaos that only a six story yokai beast bursting like a firework could cause, the village would once again grow quiet. Though Terrick, Yatako, Mizujin and now Haruyuki might not feel like staying silent themselves as they were undoubtedly caught in the hailstorm of piercing chakra that had followed. ---------- Yokai TrackerGargantuan: Destroyed (Yatako, Terrick, Mizujin, Haruyuki)○ Spawn 1: Destroyed (Mizujin)○ Spawn 2: Destroyed (Sato & Izzy)○ Spawn 3: Destroyed (Yatako, Terrick, Mizujin, Haruyuki)○ Spawn 4: Destroyed (Sato & Izzy)○ Spawn 5: Destroyed (Yatako, Terrick, Mizujin, Haruyuki)Bird 1: Destroyed (Ren & Yue)Bird 2: Destroyed (Syaoran)Bird 3: Destroyed (Kikuya)Bird 4: Destroyed (Haruyuki) ooc: That's the last of me GM'ing this thread now.
