Major Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I've been digging around through my days and days worth of music on my external HDs for the past few weeks trying to make myself an ultimate playlist, and I figured I'd share some stuff that some of you might not have heard of. Music is pretty much my favorite past-time and a huge part of my life (I used to DJ, been in a few bands, etc.) Anyways, I'll post some stuff here from time to time in my digging and hopefully show people something new. If you like something, let me know, there's a 99% chance I have a hundred more things like it and I'll point you in that direction. Have something you want to share with me? I love hearing new things, so feel free to share. You might have heard all of this stuff, but if one person finds something new they enjoy, I'll be happy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEXHeTcxQy4'>Chelsea Dagger, The Fratellis I love this song when I'm at work, it's upbeat and always puts me in a good mood. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wobu_4uASfE'>2Wicky, Hooverphonic I usually listen to this when I'm winding down, it's probably one of my favorite smooth songs. It's like I can feel the stress draining away when I hear things like this. It's a nice blending of old school music with some subtle jazz. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVXTmav24Wk'>The Noose, A Perfect Circle Sometimes I listen to music for the words, sometimes I listen to it for the sound... this song is one of the ones I listen to for both. I'm sure most people have heard of A Perfect Circle before, but eh, some people might not have. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VsZaW-0WEM'>The Feel Good Drag, Anberlin I'd be really surprised if most people didn't know who Anberlin was, but they're underrated and need to be played and heard more. This is on my workout playlist, for some reason I find it inspirational. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEsr5Mm3JfE'>Dead Disco, Metric Saved the best for last, I literally like everything by this band. That's all I can really say, this is probably one of my favorite songs, played by my favorite band. You might know Metric from the Scott Pilgrim movie, they play the song by Envy's band The Clash at Demonhead, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obV-OL3TwXo'>Black Sheep Quote
PN-Soul Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 i dig perfect circle and actually i think they have a more refined sound that TOOL but i like both projects Quote
Major Posted April 11, 2013 Author Posted April 11, 2013 A lot of people compare the two, but I also think APC is quite a bit better. It's heavy but relaxing at the same time. Still dig Tool, though. It's hard to find anything that's close enough to the two of them. Quote
Shades Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 it's been a while since I've listened to A Perfect Circle. I think I'll go and dig up some of their songs I liked. Quote
inspiration Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 The first one is legit. As well as the last one. Good song choices, my friend Quote
Rhap Sodos Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 I <3 The Fratelli's. Most people know them because of , which was "the iPod song" for the longest time, and the Chicago Blackhawks use Chelsea Dagger whenever they win or score a goal. Another of my favorites is Henrietta. If you're looking for similar upbeat, fun songs to listen to I'd recommend Parov Stelar. Quote
PN-Soul Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 jimmy's gang is great. parov stelar, techno swing yo Quote
Major Posted April 12, 2013 Author Posted April 12, 2013 (edited) I've never heard of Parov Stelar before but I love it, it reminds me a lot of Steam Powered Giraffe, except they're not trying to be funny. I have a soft spot for anything jazz related. I have a few more things I found this morning, some of it's dubstep if you hate that. I don't, I think some of it's pretty good. I'm tossing in a few things that a lot of people have heard of, just because. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1m3XncKyL0'>Great Vacation, Dirt Poor Robins http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7BddpYYNGk'>Time Bomb, Feint & Boyinaband http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpaPBCBjSVc'>Tighten Up, The Black Keys (If you don't like the Black Keys you're insane, I'm sorry) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeaIvjoH1FY'>Crave You, Flight Facilities (I don't really like the original version of this but the dubstep version is probably one of my favorites) Edited April 12, 2013 by Major Quote
