A time for new beginnings. Sasha is ecstatic, as she had nearly given up hope of bearing a child. Her blood had always been weak, having been born with acute hemophilia - a condition which had earned her nothing but shame from her former clan. But long sessions of medical attention and chakra therapy had nursed the unborn child through. And now they had a son.2106 Otogakure no Sato And what a son he was. The boy never sat still. Never. Always with the running. His parents were beyond certain that they themselves had never been this bad. Now, pregnant again, Sasha was not sure if she could bare another child - literally and figuratively. Would she be able to carry her new child to term? Would she and her husband be able to raise two?-CRASH- "Kōsuke! Get that boy down from there!" Sasha applied a low level regeneration technique. She breathed heavy. She would make it through this. Her family would make it through this. They just... they had to. "Kōsuke!"2107 Otogakure no Sato "We can't. Think of our children." Upstairs, little Jin was surely observing his new sister. A year, and he still didn't know how to deal with their new addition. Kept going on about how small she was. He was never that tiny, right? 'We're gonna take good care of her, right mom?' "Honey, I know. But I can not let this stand. They've taken our home. They've killed our friends. We are refugees in our own city" She laid a hand on his chest, trying to calm his fury. "Kōsuke, I understand. I can hardly bare it. But we have our home, we have our children. We have to take care of them. Let others fight this fight. Just this once. You can't let Asami grow up never knowing her father, can you?" His bresth hissed slowly out from cletched teeth. "Sasha.." She leaned on him. She could feel him shuddering with anger. But he wouldn't fight. He couldn't abandon his children. But he hated it. He hated it more than he hated his enemies.2109 Otogakure no Sato "Momma, when's dad getting home?" "Finish your dinner. You know he's on a trip. He'll be home when he comes home" "But moooom~" "I said finish your dinner." Sasha turned her attention to the little girl in the high chair. She dutifully fed her child, making sure that the food stayed off the floor and trying desperately to keep her hands from shaking. She could do this. She was going to do this. She could make it as long as it took. "How are your exercises going, Jin? Have you made any progress?" "Oh yeah! I'm doing really well! I know all my kata and I know all my breathing and I know how to throw aaaall three types of weapons so you don't have to worry about me!" "You haven't been throwing those weapons into the neighbors yard, have you?" "No mooooom, only in the gardens like you said" "Good." "Mom! Asami and I are going to go over to the Tanimuras tomorrow, Maya invited us when she was dropping off the groceries this afternoon" "Okay, but no gettting in trouble while I'm on my shift. I don't want to see you coming into the hospital again with a broken hand." "That was once!"2110 Otogakure no Sato "Now what do you think you are doing in here young man?" The bread almost fell out of his hand. Almost. "Weeelll, Maya-obasan, I was just coming in here to grab Yojiro-oji and me a snack" He looks awful thirsty, having been in front of that fire all day." "And where is your sister?" "Papa is looking after her today. He wanted to take her to the fair." The woman looked the kid over once before coming to a decision. She heaved a breath. "Well, if he's so thirsty, don't forget to take him water along with the snacks you're getting yourself." The kid was already gone. Damn if he wasn't going to make a fine ninja. Assuming he didn't end up a doctor or a blacksmith. Kid was good in front of the forge, he'd made a couple of top-notch kunai already. And if what she had heard from Sasha was right, he was a quick study when he was making rounds with her at the hospital. Now that their father had come back and the NCIA had been overthrown, things would be different. Kid didn't have as much of a reason to come here anymore. Would he stay with her husband and pick up the forge, or would he turn into a medic? The matronly housewife tugged on a couple of invisible chakra strings to get a better picture of what was going on in the workshop. The feedback was instantaneous. Chakra rushed through her and burned an image into her mind - she saw the inside of the far off room clear as day. The kid looked so happy in there. Not a care in the world. Best enjoy it while it lasts. Maybe it was time for her to come out of retirement. .... Nah, not today.2113 Otogakure no Sato "No, no, Asami. like this" Jin moved fluidly through the third through fifth steps of the kata. 'Five opponents: deflect, deflect, grab, throw, step in, punch'. His little sister looked tiny. Still looked tiny. Why did mom want him training her? She was far too young. Not really though. Better to be trained than not. "Okay, you're starting to get it. Keep practicing." He reached down and grabbed the string that he had dropped to the ground earlier. He looped it twice around a special hook he had hidden up his sleeve and gave it a strong yank. Usually, that would have cut through his hand, but the chakra enforced wraps he had on prevented that. The kunai he had previously embedded into the far of tree came flying at him. He threw it a dozen more times into various faded targets that he had painted on the trees long ago.-Thunk- She seemed to be doing better.-Thunk- Her foot work was a little off though. And she seemed to lost in thought.-Thunk- Just because she was in kata, doesn't mean she shouldn't remain aware of her surroundings. A good ninja was always paying attention.-Fwwhizzz- "Oi! What was that for?! You nearly took my head off!" "A true ninja is never surpsised. Always be aware of your surroundings" Yeah, that sounded very sage-like. He was good at this. Wait, why was she running at him? Where had she been hiding that tanto? "I just remembered! I need to help mom out at the hospital!" A quick handsign and - He could hear her scream of frustration as her tanto bit into the log he had left behind. Jin ignored the funny looks as he ran down the street laughing.2114 Otogakure no Sato The funerals were held on a Saturday. Hundreds had died, so it was the practical way to do things. Kosuke chocked back a cough, which had been a sob. His face remained hard, unemotional. He recognized several other jounins amoung the morners, and dozens of Sasha's coworkers - those that had survived. No one was quite sure what had attacked the hospital. The Kage was calling it a terrorist attack by a secessionist group, and was using it as an excuse to do some housecleaning. Whatever that monster had been, it was unlikely that he had such clever motives. He just wanted to inflict pain and suffering on those already suffering. The Oto jounin shook with rage. He would kill the bastard if he weren't already dead. The boiling rage wouldn't calm. His rock was gone. He was adrift. His vision clouded slightly as he felt rage and hoplessness s- A small tug on the back of his shirt. "Daddy?" He looked down, blinking away the tears. "Daddy, are we going to be alone now?" "No honey, we'll never be alone. She would want us together" His daughter. His son. He would continue for them. That's what she would want. As soon as the procession ended, the father and daughter visited their wayward family member still recovering in the make-shift tents that constituted the interim hospital. You take that physical form, but only to a certain extent, such as body shape and size. You cannot, for instance, turn your arm into a bow and start firing ammunition at an opponent. Name: Kawarimi no Jutsu (Body Substitute Technique) Type: Ninjutsu Rank: Academy Student Cost: 10 Damage: None Effects: Evade the next attack aimed at you. Skip your main and setup phase this turn. You can only use this 1 time per battle. This technique cannot be used to dodge Ninjutsu, Taijutsu or Genjutsu Techniques. Description: A lifesaver, and a must-have technique. With this technique, the user is able to swap their body with a nearby object, usually a log, which will take the full force of any incoming blows for them, while they retreat to safe ground or search for an opening. Your family or clan can't help you with the situation either; because they're either poor themselves, too busy with other affairs, or they're dead. But you can't let your family starve, you can't let them be hurt, you can't "let your little sister cry."Effect The user has a dependent as described above. This skill may be taken multiple times, and the effects stack, but each time it is taken the user must specify their dependent. The user must pay 25% of their monetary rewards to the upkeep and care of their dependent, and they will also suffer a 25% EXP Penalty [for 1 month of OOC time, or 10000 words of RP whichever happens first] if the dependent is hurt severely or killed. [Hurt severely as in maimed, permanently lost of limb, etc]. If the dependent is killed, and suffers a 20% EXP penalty [for 2 months OOC time or 20000 words of RP, whichever takes longer]. This skill is still used, but the 25% money is spent in paying back funeral costs, making offerings to shrines and of apology to the dead dependent, and also making charitable donations.
