Princess Posted June 20, 2015 Author Posted June 20, 2015 Fixed the first. It doesn't matter explicitly state reijitsugen replaces reiniku because it doesn't. You keep both, hence why the increased damage sustained, it's worth more, but it's risky to use, in a similar vein to the mangekyou. I'm happy to alter it if things turn out to be too much^^
cntrstrk14 Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 That's a big reduction then. -50% damage is a lot larger than I thought. I would bring that down some.
Princess Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Which one is -50% damage? You have -30% at Reijitsugen, which is the highest one?
Princess Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 So, as I pointed out on Skype, pretty sure I have this one figured out. Added a clause which states that each of the second and third stages are separate advanced systems, thus they cannot be active at the same time.
Princess Posted July 23, 2015 Author Posted July 23, 2015 Soo close! Bumping coz links are hard so sorting other BL out can wait till I find my power cable.
Princess Posted August 7, 2015 Author Posted August 7, 2015 Words literally cannot describe how bumped this is. Unless you were to say it had been bumped, taut would be apt. BUT NOT APP'D, IF YOU CATCH MY DRIFT!

Activation: The character wishing to unlock this bloodline must perform special acts to unlock each stage of the bloodline. Each stage has a level requirement, and once that level requirement is met the symbolic requirement can be attempted. Listed below is each stage and its requirements: Don't use the word Activation here. You use it later since its an Advanced System. Instead use another word, like 'Unlocking'. Also, I would name the three underneath it. "Rei o Mitte Ritual", "Reiniku Ritual", "Reijitsugen Ritual" so they can be referenced later easily. The first stage possesses no upkeep, and is a passively maintained source for skills. "The first stage (Rei o Mite) is simply a series of passive skills. The second stage and third stages (Reiniku and Reijitsugen respectively) are each a separate Advanced System." Stages: The Reikai no Hansha possesses t... The line break here is really killing me. Activation/Upkeep: A unique trait of the Reikai no Hansha, the upkeep for this bloodline is not a chakra or stamina cost. Instead, the upkeep cost is a percentage of the character’s base Health, dealt as Ghost Damage during the Setup Phase of each turn the bloodline is active. The two activated stages of this bloodline must be activated at the start of the Setup Phase, and thus pay their upkeep at the end of the same phase in which they are activated. Deactivation takes place at the start of the Setup Phase, and thus the upkeep cost is not paid if the bloodline is deactivated. Only one activated stage of this bloodline may be active at a time. This really doesn't tell me anything. It's just a redefinition of upkeeps. Change it to the following, everything else is just restating how costs work. "Activation/Upkeep: The Advanced Systems of this bloodline take a Setup Phase action to activate and deactivate." Rei o Mite Requirements: Reikai no Hansha bloodline, completed ritual "Requirements: Reikai no Hansha bloodline, completed Rei o Mite Ritual" Repeat this change for the other branches as well. Soul Sight-Rank One: Change the restrictions to say "Must be taken when Rei o Mite Ritual is completed." Soul Sight-Rank Two: Approved Soul Sight-Rank Three: Approved Ethereal Perception-Rank One through Five: Approved Reiniku Change Requirements to "Rei o Mite, Reiniku Ritual completed, Level 30. Change the Upkeep to say "Gennin: 7.5% Ghost Health" etc. Do both of these for Reijitsugen too. "The character may multiply the bonus to block range granted by Ethereal Perception by x+1 by taking 75x Ghost Damage. This may not exceed 150 Ghost Damage." Reijitsugen Requirements, Upkeep, & Effects: Follow what I wrote for the last one here. Spiritual Impermanence-Rank Two: Effect: When this skill is activated, the character can elect to pay for it. If they do not, this skill is considered inactive, and cannot be activated until the next time the bloodline is activated. Change too... "This skill may only be used once per activation of Reijitsugen." Ectoplasmic Mastery-Rank Three: See my rewrite of this effect from rank 2. Spectral Parasitism-Rank Two: Approved.
Princess Posted August 18, 2015 Author Posted August 18, 2015 Changes made as requested, though when you said activated only once per bloodline activation for spiritual impermanence, I added it to Ectoplasmic Mastery instead as that's the activated skill.
Princess Posted September 13, 2017 Author Posted September 13, 2017 Okay, edited to be in line with physical and non-physical damage, and to specify total damage on the skills that increase and decrease incoming damage. So now, when you're hit with non-physical damage (IE mostly just ghost damage from what I've gathered) not only does it tank your ghost health, which is the resource for the AS, but also it deals extra damage so that when you come out of the AS you take a bigger hit. Physical damage (most tai and nin from what I've gathered) does less because hey, you're a ghost. It's thematically what I wanted at the time, but I was a fool and worded it wrong. However, this version is stronger than the previous one, so I've increased each rank to -3 instead of the original -2. As it is, it's costed at -2 for each rank (the ranks do not stack and are only usable while each respective part of the AS is activated), gives you 20/30% reduction to total damage, and a 10/15% increase to total non-physical damage. Now, those numbers are totally up for debate, as they're a % they'll get hit with that whole 'Oh it's ignoring 1.5x (though it'd be defence going down on one and there is no stat to resist ghost damage so...). I also fixed up some typos and stuff, but the only things to have changed mechanically are the skills Spectral Impermanence-Rank 1 and Spectral Impermanence-Rank 2.Old Version: Spoiler Spiritual Impermanence-Rank One: Description: The result of merging the spirit and body into a single form is that is takes on aspects of both. Kouta Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Just from how this is organized, it looks really messy and I'm sure you could find ways to collapse some of these abilities down so the bloodline page isnt 90 feet long. I'd look into that because it'll make it easier to understand and review. From what I'm reading however, none of this seems all that broken. Here are some ways I suggest to tighten up wording of a bunch of these abilities: Unlock methods: Rei o Mite: If the "removing eyes" thing can be done before character creation and is just fluff, I'd toss it in the description of the bloodline and just make sure characters who join this clan include this in their history somewhere. If you intend for it to be some kind of IC burden, make a +1 Hindering for them to take that renders them Blind for a certain chunk of levels (1-15 maybe?). Stages, Activation and Costs: Stages: The whole considering them separate advanced systems while having them share ranks of skills together is weird. This is one Advanced System, all three parts together (just like Sharingan has the various eyes but also Mangekyou). The Eyes and the Body are clearly two halves of it, but this is one Advanced System. Don't overcomplicate it.Activation/Costs: Make it have one activation and one cost. 10%/5% is the normal, and you can just apply it wholesale to the whole bloodline instead of detailing costs at each rank. Named Skills: Make those changes and then you don't need this. It is assumed that Ranks of Skills replace their earlier rank, BUT if you clean up some of the wording we can eliminate the need to assume. See below. Rei o Mite Soul Sight: Make it one skill with maximum 2 ranks, both -2 per rank, and make the effect thus: Effect: While Reikai no Hansha is active, when making an Accuracy-based attack, the user may increase the cost of that attack by 10% of its Base Cost. If they do, reduce their Accuracy modifier for that technique by 50x% and add 50x% of their Concentration modifier when determining the chance to hit. Roleplay Effect: The user can 'see' the souls of living things (including animals and plant matter). With the second rank in this skill their sight grows more detailed and they can see the trauma and condition of that soul more clearly. See? That way it takes up on slot and you don't keep saying the same thing with just slightly tweaked numbers, but the effect in the same. We can do the same for the block skill. Etherial Perception: One skill, max 5 ranks, all -1 per rank. Effect: While Reikai no Hansha is Active, increase the user's block range by 2x, where x is equal to their rank in this skill. In addition, whenever the user successfully blocks a physical attack, increase the chance to hit of their next attack by y%, where y is the difference between the chance to hit and what the user rolled. This value may not exceed 10 times the user's rank in this skill. The final cap is 50, but thats fine because natural block caps will stop you at 40 anyway. And no, you're not breaking block caps on this BL. But see? Now we've collapsed all of the Eye Abilities into two skills. You'll never have to worry about skills stacking or overriding each other. Body Time! Reniku and Rejitsugen Honestly, I'm fine with you distinguishing them similarly to Sharingan's various forms, but they are the same mechanically. One is just stronger than the other, so its a natural evolution. There is never a mechanical reason to choose to activate the lower form. So I'd just make them one thing. Have the Bloodline be two halves. Spirit Eyes, Spirit Body. Boom done. I'll show you how to include language that will stop people from taking extra ranks early so you can still gate the highest forms behind the murder ritual, if thats why you wanted to do this. Spiritual Impermanence One skill, two ranks, this is kind of strong though so I'd say -3 per rank. Effect: For the sake of this skill, x is equal to the user's rank in this skill. While Rekai no Hansha is active, the character takes 15x% less total damage from attacks that deal Physical Damage. The character takes 10x% more total damage from any attack which deals Ghost Damage. All damage dealt to the user is converted to Ghost Damage after modifiers have been applied. When this Advanced System is deactivated, (100/x)% of all Ghost Damage dealt to this user is immediately dealt to them as Unmodified Physical Damage. Roleplay Effect: The character may roleplay limited flight and levitation, and may pass through solid matter that is not chakra-enhanced. (The walls of a building are no barrier, but a earthen shield generated by a jutsu cannot be ignored.) Restriction: Rank 1 can only be taken after the Reniku Ritual is Completed. Rank 2 can only be taken after the Rejitsugen Ritual is Completed. Similar as before, simply writing that they have to complete each individual ritual is enough to guarantee they will be level 30 or level 70, and that they cant cheese the bloodline's gates. Also it now mirrors the first rank of the Eye half of the bloodline in that they both share 2 ranks. Next you'd pop in Spectral Parasitism. For organization sake the Mastery will get popped out of the core bloodline and addressed lower down. Effect: For every 10/x Ghost Damage this character deals they will heal 1 Ghost Health, where x is equal to their rank in this skill. Restriction: Rank 1 can only be taken after the Reniku Ritual is Completed. Rank 2 can only be taken after the Rejitsugen Ritual is Completed. Super simple there. And that completes the BODY half of the bloodline. 4 Skills, way less physical space. Easier to see and review all at once. Then you do your masteries at the bottom, of which there is one: Ectoplasmic Mastery 3 ranks is fine, -2 per rank. Effect: Once per battle, while Reikai no Hansha is active, the user may choose to deal 100x Unmodified Ghost Damage to themselves. If they do, they will immediately increase the block range granted by Etherial Perception by 10x, where x is equal to the user's rank in this skill. This increase lasts until Reikai no Hansha is deactivated. Restriction: Ranks in this skill may only be taken once per Ninja Rank. Rank 2 may only be taken after the Reniku Ritual is Complete, and Rank 3 may only be taken after the Rejitsugen Ritual is Complete. 50x at the final rank to multiply you bonus was way too low. At level 120 you'll have at least 1000 health, and 150 damage is not even a drop in the bucket. So keep it at 100x. But see? Then you have two halves of a bloodline instead of three weird chunks. Eye and Body. There are 5 total skills instead of 19 Skills split over several ranks, and the whole thing looks cleaner.
Kouta Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 (edited) The Above is merely a detailed suggestion of how to reduce the sprawl of this bloodline and make it easier to understand (and thereby easier to get approved). The only changes I would say NEED to be made are: -- Make this one Advanced System, not two and a half. All three ranks should have activation and upkeep that either keep the same flat rate or tier down as you increase in ranks. -- All abilities need to be tied to activations, including block chances and the accuracy/con switch. Spiritual Impermanence needs to scale up the bonus to Ghost Damage as it scales up the reduction to Physical Damage. -30% Phys, +20% Ghost. Needs to Cost -3 SP per rank. As a mastery, Ectoplasmic Mastery needs come out of the Bloodline and go at the bottom. Also, it needs to always just do 100x Ghost Damage to yourself. 50x is too low. Remove the weird "you have to do it when you turn it on or you miss timing" because its a really clunky phrase and does not really get you any brownie points. Just change it to more of a "once per battle, you can take the hit and gain the bonus whenever you want, and you'll get the bonus until you turn the AS off." Change it from "Multiply it by x + 1" to "Increase it by up to 10x, where x is your rank in this skill". Edited September 24, 2017 by Kouta
Princess Posted September 24, 2017 Author Posted September 24, 2017 Okay, so made some changes in line with your suggestions! Few things though: The eyes were never meant to be an advanced system, they were a passive base from which the advanced system improved upon. Because the AS deals damage to you on both your health types, it means you still had some minor benefits you could access without the health drain. So I kept them as a suite of passives, and the AS builds upon them as intended. I like my silly costs. If it's a real sticking point that I change them I will, but remember that all that cost is dealt back as physical damage or at least half of it, meaning that in essence the cost is x2 or x1.5 what is listed. And it is ghost health/health, which do no regenerate unlike chakra, so I feel it should not be costed the same as a chakra/stamina based bloodline. And I think that's all? All the advanced versions of the AS skills are locked behind the murder ritual, murder ritual costs more to upkeep but does more, now it's mandatory once you get it you pay for it, so players can choose to leave it be and settle for the base AS for go murder for the better one and pay for it. I am contented.
Kouta Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Yes but we just recently made Tony bring back a Taijutsu style that swapped Accuracy for Con because we decided that in order to do that, the effect needed to be locked behind a AS. If the skills are a passive base they aren't technically locked behind an AS, and could theoretically then be combo'd with another AS/Bloodline. Which is the fear. If they are cleanly behind some kind of activation, it'll make it a lot harder for something to break this and need to resubmit it. I only just realized that said Ghost Health. You can keep them as is, but really, I'd consider not making health your primary upkeep model. It may feel small, but thats gonna hurt. You're welcome to leave it as is, but nothing here is strong enough to require health as an upkeep. So thats an option for you. Also you're free to make your upkeep decline instead of increase, since thats the AS norm, but again, nobody is gonna make you.
Princess Posted September 25, 2017 Author Posted September 25, 2017 I mean, you couldn't combine it with another bloodline because a character may only have one bloodline, and even though it isn't part of the advanced system, it is part of the bloodline thus unavailable without having the bloodline. I've used it a couple of times, it's okay, but since it's Con vs Eva, it's not inhibiting the opponent's build at all, which was the primary concern of the whole using Con as a Tai style. If it's Con vs Eva, no part of it is effecting the opponent's choices without hitting, just my own, and to top it off con is much more easily tanked than accuracy, the status effects which lower concentration do so at a much higher rate than those that lower accuracy. Essentially, the skill means I invest lest in accuracy the higher my level, but it also leaves me open to being hit with dizzy or migraine and all of a sudden not having accuracy as a backup comes to hurt me. I think it's fine as is, if I incorporated it into the advanced system I'd insist on making it con v con, else I feel it's going to have severe repercussions for Ikiryo builds.
Pwnzie Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 21 minutes ago, Kouta said: Yes but we just recently made Tony bring back a Taijutsu style that swapped Accuracy for Con because we decided that in order to do that, the effect needed to be locked behind a AS. Is it really that acceptable/becoming the norm so much that we are now also evaluating all bloodlines that could POTENTIALLY be combined with a powerful AS? If it has become that much of the norm to be combining passive bloodlines and advanced systems on top, perhaps its time we rethink those rules and make it more mainstream since it seems like its rapidly approaching it. @Azure / other admins. I would also like to agree with Ryan here that what Tonys tai style was doing, compared to what he wants to do here, is not the same thing, similar, but not the same thing. Ryans right that the major difference here is that Tonys style was forcing his opponent to dodge with another stat then was standard on most other meta techs at the time, whereas ryans mechanic that HE only uses con for CTH whereas the opponent uses evasion [The stat mst people have a lot of anyways) I dont see tonys tai style and this being a good comparison.
Kouta Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 (edited) To Ryan: This is a fair point. You're changing your stat, not the opponent's. Just make it clear that the passive skills are still part of the Advanced System (something right where you put the requirements like "These skills are considered part of the Reikai no Hansha AS, but have no activation cost and are always passively available") and we'll call that square. After that I think this approved from my end. I like what you did with the Mastery to allow you to use it both inside and outside of the Activated Portion. To Pwnzie: Yes. Non AS Bloodlines (Like The Advanced Elemental Releases) and Non Bloodline AS (Like Gates) exist, so you must always balance with that thought in mind. Thats why the most powerful system is a Bloodline Locked Advanced System, as it takes up both "slots" a character may mix and match. Edited September 25, 2017 by Kouta
Pwnzie Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 I understand that, but to my knowledge, the only AS that explicitly lets you combine another is Uzumaki. OOCly i also thought it was kinda frowned upon.
Princess Posted September 25, 2017 Author Posted September 25, 2017 Aight, so I wanted that ability available all the time, otherwise it's gonna lead to a very confusing build, so I took what you said and expanded upon it. The skill is treated as part of the AS, therefore your AS slot is always passively taken up once you get the skill. As it is part of the Reiniku/Reijitsugen, activating them is no problem, but any other AS treats you as if you already have one active.
Princess Posted September 29, 2017 Author Posted September 29, 2017 Got a character who is waiting on this now. Would be cool if we could smash it out^^
Princess Posted October 9, 2017 Author Posted October 9, 2017 Bump, still waiting on this to start Uta's training for it
Princess Posted November 7, 2017 Author Posted November 7, 2017 (edited) After a chat about the usual vagueness and 'Only in the mind of Princess would that make sense' of some of the skills, did a quick rewording. None of the mechanical effects have changed in the least. But the wording has. It's now cleaner, more concise, and coquettishly awaiting YOUR approval. It has 1 from Kouta, it needs one more from someone else. Could that someone be you? Uta would really like his bloodline back Edited November 7, 2017 by Princess
Cellar Door Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 It looks like Kouta did due diligence and made this acceptable. I'm not seeing anything that jumps out at me immediately, though it is still pretty hard on the eyes. That won't keep it from being approved though. So, pull the trigger I supposed. Approved.
