framingfrary Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) ~Appearance~-Height: 4'9" -Weight: 85 lbs -Hair Color: Light blonde, usually worn in two pigtails that fall down to her shoulder blades, with shaggy bangs that frame her face. Compared to the practicality (read: indifference and general laziness) of her dress, maintaining long hair seems a little out of character. If asked about it she'd probably say she just couldn't be bothered to cut it but in truth her hair is her one especial vanity. -Eye Color: A dark chocolate brown, a color not unheard of among the Yamanaka but not especially typical for a clan who's coloring tends towards light hair and light eyes. -Clothing: Inorin sticks to the things she knows, namely clothes suited to running about and exercise. Anything you'd find her training in is something she'd wear in her day to day; her main idea of accessorizing is to throw on a jacket over it all (hoods! extra pockets! long sleeves!) There are some nicer things tucked away in her closet for special occasions like festivals and parties, but it seems to her that every time she puts on something nice something disastrous happens. Or maybe it's just that she hasn't learned you really can't go on a whirlwind sprint over rooftops in a yukata without catching the fabric on something. -Physical Description: From her pigtails to her petite frame, there's nothing particularly physically imposing about Inorin. All muscle she's gained from training is lean and subtle, further disguised by baggy jackets and layers. Being first to hit her growth spurt in her grade, she was the tallest child in her class for all of five minutes before someone else outstripped her. Twelve-year-olds are still growing into themselves, the traces of adult features faintly visible on childish faces. For Inorin, mercifully, the touches of Yamanaka-graced good looks are already visible, sparing her the gangly awkward stages of growing up. Typically of a peachy, clear complexion, Inorin is gifted with the ability to tan without burning; come summertime it isn't unusual to find her marked with tan lines from bathing suits and t-shirt sleeves alike. framingfrary Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 (edited) ~Persona~ Personality: Growing up in a village suddenly taken over by the enemy and without any real adult supervision, it's fair to say that Inorin more or less ran wild. The chaos of it all forced an independent streak; even the restoration of order hasn't quelled her impulse to do what she likes when she likes. The key to getting away with it? Avoid confrontation. No need to have a fight about it if you don't get caught...or are just very good at dodging any conversation that looks like it might become a scolding. She's no shrinking violet though. Like anyone unused to hearing the word "no," her first instinct is to obstinately dig in her heels and fight about it. Any flashes of temper though usually burn out quickly and are forgotten even faster; there are few things she holds a grudge over. Reactionary, perhaps, to having (momentarily) lost her childhood friends, Inorin tends to hold herself at a distance from other people. She's sociable enough, getting along with her classmates and neighbors but not getting especially close. It'd be easy enough to come off as stuck up if she didn't apply this same laissez faire to her family life as well, pointedly steering clear of most clan responsibilities. Once she warms up to someone, however, Inorin is eager to be friends. Her general curiosity is sharpened tenfold and any normal liveliness is giddy and much more playful. Being a part of a team is vitally important to her, a role much more adult and focused then her usual aimless mischief. For all her lingering childishness, Inorin is capable of cold rationality and fierceness in defense of things important to her that belie her otherwise lighthearted character. Goals: - Excel with her family jutsu - Travel! Likes: - Cold coffee drinks - Being outdoors - Rain storms - Picnics - Spicy food - Daifuku - Family flower shop (in theory. flowers, yes. family, yes. customer service, yeah alright.) Dislikes: - Having to "sit still" - Very literal people - Inquiries about her family (read: gossip) - Thunder - Formal occasions - Actually having to work at the flower shop. (green thumb n/a. patience: none. doing inventory/register: sucks.) Favorites: -Food: Ikayaki -Color: Green -Music Genre: Will hum along off-key to anything. -Book Genre: Drama (because drama is nothing without romantic subplots but she'd rather die than admit that guilty pleasure.) -Hangout: Riverbank | Market -Season: Spring -Animal: Small birds, particularly chickadees -Quote: If I am worth anything later, I am worth something now. framingfrary Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 ~Relationships~ To be filled out.
framingfrary Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 (edited) ~Background~ Every family has its scandals, from the famous to the simple. Inoka Yamanaka remaining unmarried, despite being the head of his clan, served for some time until it was outstripped by something further out of turn: an illegitimate child. And so there was Inorin, a disruptive influence from the very start. Before her, Inoka's marked disinclination for matrimony was forgivable enough; the line of succession easily continued through a smattering of nephews and nieces. Inorin’s addition to the mix, despite any official move one way or the other on the matter adds more...contention. The specifics of the entire affair is not a story you lay out for a child, though Inorin has heard her fair share of whispering and dedicatedly eavesdropped enough to form a solid picture. A young, unmarried kunoichi driven by desperation to the family home of her paramour; she certainly wouldn't be the first to scatter to the four winds at the sight of a positive pregnancy test to return somber and childless months later. The matter of her identity is fuzzy at best; while rumor makes the odd guess now and then, Inoka certainly isn't telling. While not exactly the parental type himself, leaving a woman to raise a child on her own, her ability to work harshly crippled by an unwanted burden, would be a sharp decline to unhappiness. And frankly, up until the moment the newborn was put into his arms, he was still musing over the best solution to their delicate situation. Adoption seemed easiest overall. Wouldn't it be better for everyone to give the child to someone who actually wanted it? But he formed an immediate and impractical attachment to the squalling red-faced infant with her tuft of blonde hair. Dubbing her with the traditional Ino prefix was the first mark of her belonging. The second was to secure, with all the determination of fatherhood, Shikahiro and Chozo as her playmates with the implicit suggestion that they might revive the Ino-Shika-Cho trio of days past. As a father, Inoka proved to be both permissive and absentee, a dangerous combination in the opinion of those left to raise his daughter in his absence. Besides evening meals, when Inoka made it home on time, the gaps in parental supervision were filled by the sharp eyes of aunts with their own children, older cousins, and general babysitters. With her aunts, Inorin harbored a certain amount of respectful caution but for the mixed bag of her other supervisors it was anyone's guess if they would be watching a sweet, easygoing child or one hellbent on causing trouble and garnering attention from her distant parent. The introduction of her play-dates with Shikahiro and Chozo though mollified her prior outbursts into more ordinary childhood tantrums. No child of two or three is agreeable, but wherein once it was common enough to find her hapless caretakers faced down with a child who could not be bribed or bullied out of a foul mood, the promise of her routine (beyond dinner time) was now a bargaining chip. There was no pretending, even to a child as young as Inorin, that she wasn't marked as that Yamanaka. The instability of her father's in's and out's was hardly helpful to ensuring normalcy but security was easy enough to be found in these playrooms with these boys. Having been told they were to be friends Inorin was all the more determined to make it so, teasing and coaxing them into madcap games and giggling all the while. Naps were a tactical challenge for anyone supervising. Inorin couldn't be put down away from the other two without making a fuss but neither could they be left together or she'd endlessly wind them up. Exhausting her was the foremost task of the afternoon; once she collapsed, everything went smoothly. The invasion from Kumo shattered all of that. How could there be any routine when their village had fallen? Dinners with Inoka were completely forgone and the days spent with Shikahiro and Chozo were scattered and short until one morning Inorin woke to be informed that there was no Chozo to play with an no Nara's at all. And when her swiftest thrown tantrums yielded no results, Inorin was left staggered by the reality that her tiny world had shifted on its axis. For days she was the mute shadow of whoever could be spared to care for her, that is until she was informed she would be going on a trip "away." It was common enough knowledge that her few cousins were in consideration for the title of heir. Caution dictated that they sent to safety, away from the reach of an enemy-controlled Academy. They would leave quietly enough, wrapped in fearful uncertainty of when they could come home, but Inorin was another matter. Her stubborn and spoiled nature reasserted itself full force. Any attempt to pack her things or bundle her up was met with banshee shrieking and violent tears, so much so that all the was left was the proverbial threat: just wait until your father gets home. For all of his indulgence of Inorin's whims and wishes, when Inoka did eventually come home it was with a stony face, a ticking temper, and a masked irritation at being sent to negotiate with a girl who was almost four. And if he had any experience in parenting, perhaps things would have gone differently. But Inorin's almost articulate request, albeit through quite a bit of snot and tears, to not be without him too was disarming. To send away all the children but the illegitimate one was surely a sufficient a smokescreen, and so Inorin remained, protected by the vagueness of her status. It was a delicate art to remain in the village as they were, running information back and forth through a series of spy networks while pretending that everything was business as usual. The importance of minding one child ended up stacked far bellow matters of rebellion, so Inorin was left to her own devices provided she returned before dark, relatively clean and having caused no trouble. The latter were two things she struggled with the most. With nothing to do and no one to guide her, Inorin was prone to sticking her nose where it didn't belong: overtly snooping on Kumo-nin for sheer curiosities sake and lurking around the Nara compound, pretending to track the long-faded hoof prints. Her freedoms were slightly curtailed when she started coming home with split lips or black eyes and no explanation to give, unwilling to admit that instead of playing with the children who remained she was more prone to fighting with them - especially when the word "bastard" came up. Enlisted in assisting her relatives with the flower shop, Inorin was occupied not only with work but lessons from better penmanship (a hopeless task,) beginning lessons in cooking (breakfast, simple desserts, and very weak poison,) to introductions to her family's jutsu. It still wasn't enough to reign her in completely, but it did change her slipaways from time idly spent to devotedly practicing her skills. The fact that her new education was supposed to stay a secret was impressed firmly on her but...why wander the village in boredom when she could steal into the mind of a bird and fly away? To any casual passerby, walking deeply enough into the woods to find her, she'd simply look like she was napping underneath the trees. The war ending was a strange shift. Finally her father came home for more then just sleep and brief meals, their old tradition of eating dinner together revived. Her cousins came back in a flutter of sound and there was suddenly so many eyes on her where was inorin going? what is she doing? that her prior existence of leaving without a word to anyone was suddenly impossible. Last of all would be the return of her friends, Shikahiro first and Chozo following after, both taller and so strange to her at first that after the initial startled joy and gleeful hugs she didn't quite know what to say. The start of Academy was a new starting place for all of them, at least. Eager enough to be enrolled and learn new things, Inorin was equally plagued by boredom when she found the lessons dull and could no longer just meander away. She didn't get on badly with her classmates but she wasn't sure exactly how to get on well with them either, beyond idle chats and acknowledging smiles and waves. For now, she could be contented with having the three people she cared about most returned to her company. The rest would just have to be figured out as she went. framingfrary Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 (edited) ~Skills~ Skill Point Gain: 6 +2 Character Creation/Base +1 Fearful +3 Loneliness Skill Point Expenditures: 5 -1 Attractive -0 Yamanaka Telepathic Arts -1 Advanced Chakra Control -1 Inner Calm -1 Path of the Mesmer -0 Focused Mind (Path of the Mesmer) -0 Perceptive Mind (Path of the Mesmer) -1 Genjutsu Creator Remaining Skill Points: 1 Positive - Attractive Effect: Double the effects of 'Pervert', if the opponent has 'Pervert' for this user's gender. 40% chance of dealing 'charmed' upon said opponent for 3 turns. You're gorgeous, beautiful, or handsome. People like looking at you, and you make those who're particularly 'enticed' by your gender gawk for sizable periods of time, even in the middle of battle. Cost: -1 - Advanced Chakra Control Effect: When purchasing ranks of Inner Calm, the user gains two [2] ranks per one [1] skill point spent. Ranks may only be purchased once per ten levels. Throughout the world, few are known to have the fine chakra control of the Yamanaka or the Haruno. Due to their training as sensors and medics, the rival clans have developed an almost genetic mastery of their own chakra; this trait allows them to create and control techniques with minimal exertion. Cost: -1 - Path of the Mesmer Effect: For every 100 points in Concentration, this character gains an additional +1% to hit with Genjutsu based attacks. Many people walk this earth not content with living in reality—Mesmers prefer to create their own realities. A Mesmer is a person who works in the arts of persuasion, illusion and trickery, using physical and non physical means to get their way, often through the use of genjutsu. Able to talk circles around even the most cunning of politicians, a skilled Mesmer could even talk brick mason into buying bricks. These people always have a plan, even if it is not obvious to those around them. Cunning and mysterious define these people, and they are often found rising to the top one way or another. Cost: -1 - Inner Calm Chakra-Based Techniques cost 5 less Chakra per ninja rank of the technique. This shares ranks with the skill 'Steadfast Durability'. You are more efficient with your chakra, doing more with smaller amounts than others. Cost: -0 - Focused Mind Gain 3 ranks of 'Genjutsu Shaper' for free. - Genjutsu Shaper For every rank in this skill, status effects the user inflicts with Genjutsu on opponents have a chance to last one post longer based on the opponent's dodge roll. This will not allow you to break the maximum post duration of any status effect. The human mind is such a soft, soft thing. So easy to manipulate with the right pressure. Cost: -0 - Perceptive Mind May gain ranks of 'The Seeing Mind' for 1 skill point. Cost: -0 - Genjutsu Creator Genjutsu reduces opponent's stats by 5 more points per ninja rank of the technique (per skill rank). If the Genjutsu reduces multiple stats then the user must choose how to apply the bonus, but only in intervals of 5. Does not apply to tank stat damage. "When the world is not what you wish of it- change it". When you were told this as a young child you may have taken it a bit too literally. Cost: -1 Hindering -Fearful Whenever an opponent uses a technique that can only be used by the ninja rank above your current one, you freeze up and lose one turn. Some might call you a coward, but you like to think of it as smart. I mean, why shouldn't we all be afraid of powers greater than our own, thats just a survival instinct... right? Cost: +1 - Loneliness Effect: Characters with this skill reduce Experience gained when training alone by 50%. Characters with this skill may not take missions alone. Some people can go through life relying only on their own strength of will, facing off against the world by themselves. Others, like those with this skill, are eternally desperate for companionship and find the idea of operating on their own as demoralizing as they do terrifying. They feel a constant, codependent need for a companion, or something like it that they can see, feel, and touch in order to cope with everyday life, finding even antagonistic company preferable to isolation. While these individuals often have a solid grasp of teamwork, they are often woefully unprepared for situations in which they must act by themselves for an extended period of time. Once a clone is hit it is destroyed, and the bonuses with it. A bunshin is considered to have 0 evasion and rolls to dodge whenever it is targeted in the user's response phase. The value of x is the number of clones you have made. Maximum of 8 bunshin can be made. Creates an illusionary replica of the user. It is unable to attack or interact with other objects, but can serve as a good distraction. - Henge no Jutsu Cost: 5 Chakra Effect: Change your appearance. A character 25+ levels above the one who uses this technique can see through it. This is given for free at character creation. Wrap chakra around your body to change your appearance. You take that physical form, but only to a certain extent, such as body shape and size. You cannot, for instance, turn your arm into a bow and start firing ammunition at an opponent. - Kawarimi no Jutsu Cost: 10 Chakra Effect: Evade the next attack aimed at you. Skip your main and setup phase this turn. You can only use this 1 time per battle. This technique cannot be used to dodge Ninjutsu, Taijutsu or Genjutsu Techniques. This is given for free at character creation. A lifesaver, and a must-have technique. With this technique, the user is able to swap their body with a nearby object, usually a log, which will take the full force of any incoming blows for them, while they retreat to safe ground or search for an opening. - Hotaru Cost: 5 Chakra Effect: Lights dark areas Creates one to fifteen small phantom fireflies. These are beautiful to look at and light up an area very well. Excellent jutsu for use on a date, really impress the girls (or boys). - Lurking Beasts Cost: 40 Chakra Effect: Opponent is 'Terrified' for one turn and 'Scared' the following turn for one turn. Description: The user of this jutsu creates the illusion using sound that there are several monstrous creatures near him/her ready to attack. This is emanated mainly by loud growls and snarls, the sound of heavy plodding footfalls, and noises of the environment being disturbed (if in a rocky area, it sounds like pebbles are being kicked, in high grass there is shuffling, etc.) Edited October 29, 2015 by framingfrary
