The secret seals to access a hidden room within the shrine are passed down to each iteration of clan head and given out to Sensukai shinobi who are deemed worthy to possess access. It is within the shrine where the origins of the Sensukai clan are revealed and can be traced back since before the spread of Ninshū. Artifacts and ancient writings describe a time before the existence of shinobi where a small village within the mountains was plagued with famine, death, and weather that was deemed as 'the wrath of raijin'. Desperate, those who lived within the village built shrines and temples to the thunder god Raijin in hopes that their prayers would be answered and prosperity would be brought to them. For decades, unaware of the outside world, the village dwindled in numbers until their prayers were answered by a man known as the 'Sage of the Six Paths'. It was through the teachings of Ninshū and guidance to the outside world, where the villagers who remained escaped their solitude and established The First Church of Raijin, in dedication to their deity. The introduction of Ninshū and Ninjutsu brought forth an age of war and countless battles between mercenary military forces, known as clans. Despite the war-torn era, those within the First Church of Raijin chose to remain neutral and proceeded to offer homes to those in need. Following the principles of Ninshū and their deity, they believed that to offer peace and good will would grant them to become clouds after death and join Raijin in the sky. While many followed this philosophy a few strayed from the beliefs of The First Church of Raijin, one of those being a man named Sensukai Kaiten. The youngest of three children, Sensukai Kaiten was born and raised in the First Church of Raijin. A devoted follower and practitioner of Ninshū, he was one of the few whom's body was naturally resistant to lightning. With a profound ability to transform chakra into lightning-elemental chakra, Kaiten sought out to study more on ninjutsu, believing Ninshū to be a worthless ideology of ancient times. On his travels he witnessed the sins of war and the injustice that the power given to humans granted. Upon his return to the church, he preached his opinions to the higher priest, only to be shut down and told to focus on neutrality. Disgusted with pacifism, Kaiten held to his own beliefs and insisted that the gift of ninjutsu was given to them by Raijin to bring peace and strike down those who would cause injustice in the name of Raijin. Sensukai Kaiten's beliefs garnered attention as many of those within the church agreed with his sentiments. Displeased with the growing belief, the high-priest forbade Kaiten to speak about his beliefs, threatening banishment. Angered by their attempts to silence him, Kaiten and his followers abandoned the Church of Raijin and made their way towards the west borders of Kaminari No Kuni. Claiming that him and his followers were the 'messengers of Raijin', Kaiten passed on his knowledge of ninjutsu to his followers and sought out to bring justice to the war-torn mountains. In order to ensure that his beliefs were passed down to the next generation, Kaiten followed in the path of many of the mercenary groups and established the Sensukai Clan. Contracted by the government of Kaminari no Kuni, the clan was able to establish a small estates along with a small shrine in dedication to Raijin. Upon Kumogakure's active militarization, Zenta favored in support for the Raikage's plan towards a new world. Unfortunately, her plans contradicted with Leirei and as such with an increased following lead towards the Sensukai clan war. Zenta was killed in battle by an unknown Kumogakure shinobi, which marked the end of the clan war. A message to those chosen to be part of the Sensukai clan that they were the ones to carry the message of Raijin and spread it to the people around them. This belief has faded over the centuries, with many Sensukai shinobi simply accepting that their bloodline, similar to many bloodlines, was simply a genetic mutation that allowed them to survive the harsh conditions of Kumogakure Storms. Whichever one may choose to believe, the Kaminari Tainai is a prominent bloodline within the clan that allows one the ability to manipulate and withstand lightning with ease. Since their birth, Sensukai shinobi find it easier to manipulate lightning with their chakra than other shinobi. As they advance in skill and age, their control over the element increases. This also applies to their own physical bodies, as their body develops the ability to withstand and even mold the element within their own chakra. It is this ability that throughout the centuries has given the bloodline the name 'Lightning Body', as those whom have taken it to it's fullest potential are seen to be able to continuously produce lightning from their body. As if they have become their own storm cloud. Kaminari Tainai - Birth Since their birth, Sensukai shinobi are affiliated with the element of lightning. Whether the affinity is revealed earlier or later is dependent on the shinobi, however most Sensukai shinobi show proficiency in control and manipulation of lightning with relative ease. Those who continue to proceed down the path of lightning manipulation are seen as maters of the element, becoming a destructive force of nature themselves. Effect: A character with this skill gains 'Lightning Specialty', as a primary or secondary elemental specialty. This is chosen upon purchasing this skill; a character that already has both elemental specialties unlocked does not gain this effect. In addition, a character with this skill may purchase two ranks of 'Ninjutsu Mastery: Lightning' for 1 skill point. Cost: -2sp | Must be taken at character creation or upon bloodline transfusion. Kaminari Tainai - Lightning Rod The evolution of the Kaminari Tainai has led to a strong resistance against the lightning element. Acting as natural lightning rods, their body absorbs the lightning with ease and directly discharges it towards the ground in order to minimize the amount of damage done. Effects: A character with this skill gains x 'Lightning Mark'. Where x is equal to the character's ninja rank {Gennin: 1, Chuunin: 2, Jounin: 3, Sennin: 4). Any time a character takes physical damage from a [Lightning] element technique reduce the damage by 25x, to a minimum of 5. Cost: -3sp Kaminari Tainai - Lightning Rod Absorption The human body is adaptable and resilient. This is no exception when it comes to Sensukai shinobi, as their body adapts to the incoming lightning that flows through them. The more damage they take from lightning techniques, the more resilient their body becomes to the damage. It is often that Sensukai shinobi are seen to plunge head first into a lightning technique and continue forward without losing momentum. Effects: Each time a character with this skill takes damage from a [Lightning] element technique they gain an additional 'Lightning Mark'. The number of 'Lightning Marks' a character has may not exceed ten (10). Cost: -2sp. Kaminari Tainai - Lightning Rod. Kaminari Tainai - Living Battery The body of a Sensukai clan shinobi is different than that of the average shinobi. The natural resistance towards the lightning element is not the only ability of the Kaminari Tainai, as the bloodline and the genetic make-up of the Sensukai extend further as it reacts with any lightning particles within the area. As lightning techniques are used throughout the battle, leftover lightning particles are broken down and absorbed by the body. These particles are stored separately within the body in specialized cells and similar to a battery, the wielder is able to release the stored lightning and utilize it in whatever manner they wish. Effect: The wielder of this skill gains a separate stat known as 'Static Energy'. 'Static Energy' starts at 0. For each rank in this skill: Every time the wielder of this skill uses a [Lightning] element technique or is hit by a [Lightning] element technique, 10% of the technique's base cost is added as Static Energy into the Static Energy stat. Static Energy gained this way can be used to pay for basic attacks, weapon attacks, and skills or techniques that would require either chakra or stamina to use. Ranks may only be taken every 20 levels. Static Energy statistic can not exceed 50% of the user's total chakra statistic. Ranks: 3 Cost: -2sp per rank. Level 10 Kaminari Tainai - Lightning Reservoir Gifted with their body's genetic ability to store lightning within specialized cells, Sensukai shinobi are able to capitalize on their own power. As all cells make energy, these specialized cells will produce their own supply of lightning and store it within them. Unlike the natural metabolic energy produced within the cells, the lightning produced takes a while to be restored once used. In addition, with the constant use of their own internal lightning, it is quite common for Sensukai shinobi to use this lightning within their techniques to add extra strength. Effect: At the beginning of each battle, a character with this skill begins the battle with x 'Static Energy' in their Static Energy Statistic. [x = 15% of the user's base chakra statistic]. Requirements: Rank III of Kaminari Tainai - Living Battery Cost: -1sp Kaminari Tainai - Raijin's Messenger Old Sensukai folklore describe the Kaminari Tainai, as a gift from Raijin to deliver his judgement onto those unworthy. The lightning stored within their body was a signal that they had the power to choose whom to punish in the name of justice. While this belief has faded (for the most part), the lightning stored within a Sensukai's body can be used to increase the potential of their lightning techniques. Effect: Once per turn when performing a Main Phase [Lightning] element technique, the user may pay 10X Static Energy to increase the critical chance of the technique by +X%. After a series of handseals, lightning gathers around the user's hand. A bolt of lightning extends outwards. The bolt's shape changes into the form of a canine, before it charges towards it's target. The size of the canine extends as it hit the target, biting down on them and releasing a massive surge of lightning through the body. The lightning which spreads through the body temporarily disables nerve signals through the arm. This technique may also be used to block incoming ninjutsu techniques due to the large size of the beast. Target is inflicted with the status effect 'Opening [Raiton: Amenoken Hakai]'. Description: A technique wielded among higher ranking shinobi within the Sensukai clan, it is commonly used as a set-up towards a much more powerful technique. After the formation of hand-seals, the user manipulates lightning chakra into five separate blades. Each blade takes on the appearance similar to that of a straight sword. Once formed, the blades are sent flying towards the target at a high velocity with the goal of piercing into the target. Each blade pierces either a pressure point, nerve, or joint in order to attempt to incapacitate whatever they hit. Once the blades make impact, they shrink to 50% of their original size as they remain stuck in the target's skin. Points: 6jp Sennin Techniques Raiton: Amenoken Hakai | 雷遁天の剣破壊 | Lightning Release: Heavenly Blade Destruction Type: Ninjutsu [Lightning | Hijutsu; Sensukai] Rank: Sennin Cost: 360 Chakra Damage: 200 Damage Effects: Target is inflicted with the status effect 'Bound [Paired Arms]' and 'Shackled [Paired Legs]' for two (2) turns. The user of this technique may pay .5x Static Energy to deal x 'Burning Damage' for one turn. x may not exceed 300 damage. Description: A powerful technique within the Sensukai clan, used to to shut down any defense and offense their target may have. Commonly used after Raiton: Amenoken Chuusha, the lightning blades provide a central and powerful point of attack. Through manipulation of the blades, they lightning is supercharged as it gathers lightning chakra and particles from the user and it's surrounding. Within seconds the blades begin to crack with lightning before the blades erupt simoultaneously, sending a large blast of lightning upwards into the sky. The blast electrocutes the target within it and through further manipulation from the user, a Sensukai can increase the power which causes the target to receive burns from the heat.
