Rhapsody Posted June 6, 2016 Author Posted June 6, 2016 The math I used was 40 + (40*0.7) for 68, because each additional turn after the first is paid at 70%. At least that's how I've always understood it.
Peregine Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 I had it in my head that there were two ways to pay a genjutsu; you could front-load the cost and pay it all up-front, or pay over multiple turns. I've mocked up a version of the technique using both methods below: Quick Pickup Type: GenjutsuRank: GenninCost: 80 ChakraDamage: N/AEffect: +50 Concentration, Speed or Evasion for 2 turns.Description: A simple Genjutsu in which the shinobi alters the perception of their target- or themselves – to afford them greater focus. This increases their reflexes and their concentration.Points: 12 Here paying for 2 turns of +50 stats. Quick Pickup Type: GenjutsuRank: GenninCost: 40 Chakra, 28 Chakra Upkeep [Max 5 Turns]Damage: N/AEffect: +50 Concentration, Speed or Evasion.Description: A simple Genjutsu in which the shinobi alters the perception of their target- or themselves – to afford them greater focus. This increases their reflexes and their concentration.Points: 6 Here as an upkeep. This also has the advantage of cutting your JP in half, since the technique itself is only one turn. You pay unmodified chakra continually as an upkeep. Both have their upsides and downsides, as far as I'm aware. You can use the first to play around Sickened, for example, and front-loading the cost might be better if you have good cost reduction. On the other hand, upkeeps mean the technique lasts as long as you want and you don't need such a large initial investment. I might be wrong, but this has worked for me so far.
Rhapsody Posted June 6, 2016 Author Posted June 6, 2016 (edited) I mean, I know the cost/benefits of each play style. I just understood the wording of the upkeep price differently. I'll get clarification for us. edit: I have clarified, and you pay the upkeep cost even if you pay upfront. Edited June 6, 2016 by Rhapsody
