Yasaka no Magatama | Eight Slopes Curved Jewel I | 八坂ノ勾玉 I
Type: Ninjutsu | Hijutsu Susanoo | Void
Rank: Chūnin
Cost: 141 Chakra
Damage: 40x
Effect: When determining the effects of this technique ‘x’ is equivalent to the number of strikes dealt to the target (Maximum 3). Each strike afflicts the opponent with Fazed.
Description: Channeling this technique through the Susanoo itself, the caster is able to create several tomoe shaped projectiles (the Yasaka Magatama) that can be launched at their opponent. Because of the aerodynamic shape of the projectiles, they behave very similarly to shuriken in terms of accuracy and velocity, usually taking only a few seconds to reach their target. If the target is hit by one of the projectiles, it creates an almost knock back like force, upon contact the Yasaka Magatama are designed to 'explode' releasing a wave of energy that leaves some people like the wind was knocked from them. Depending on the level of strength of the jutsu user, the size of the Yasaka Magatama could vary from the size of most average humans, to that of buildings if used by the perfected susanoo.
Points: 5

96 (Damage) + 45 (Fazed 3 turns) = 140

Fazed
Your Turn Order is increased by 60 - 10x, where x is your ninja rank. You may only be Fazed once per attack.
Max Duration: --
Cost Points: 15/turn

Fazed has no upper limit on its duration. Essentially what he's doing here is saying that if 1 strike hits, it has Fazed [1]. If two strikes hit it becomes Fazed [2], and if three strikes hit it becomes Fazed [3]. It could probably be written better as Fazed [X]. X is the number of strikes that hit.

As for the duration, it is listed as -- on the mainsite, which could be read as it has no duration (IE it lasts forever) or that it has no duration limit. Given that it costs 15/Turn, that implies that the duration is limited to what you pay for, but there's no upper limit on it. Only once per attack can you inflict Fazed, so you couldn't have an attack that hits with Fazed twice to lay two stacks of it on, but you can hit them for Fazed 4, and they will be fazed for 4 turns. Fazed doesn't allow itself to stack, so one could not have a multi strike attack where each strike dealt Fazed [1] to cause a 180-30x increase in turn order. It assuredly does not have a max duration of 1, as the effect Opening explicitly states it has a max duration of 1, which sets the precedent that -- is not 1.

Huh, didn't think about it that way. Fazed can stack then.

But this way aren't you being fazed three times in one attack? If you can't be fazed by multiple strikes of one attack, then can fazed only stack if applied by multiple attacks, or one strike with lots of stacks?

I'm confused T_T

I think I was explaining my side of it badly, so like, I dont intend to have this single attack do anymore than 1 instance of fazed, the only reason I have it on all 3 strikes, is because I never even hit with more than 50% of strikes I make in multi strike techs. So even though each strike can give fazed, I only intend to benefit from 1.

Ok last question for today lol. Fazed; since it has no max duration, can it be afflicted on someone for 3 turns in a row (but not stacking 3 instances of fazed over 1 turn)?
Cost: 95 Chakra
Damage: 60x
Effect: When determining the effects of this technique ‘x’ is equivalent to the number of strikes dealt to the target (Maximum 3). Each strike that hits the opponent will also cause 1 turn of Fazed [Stacking up to three times].
the [Stacking up to three times] is supposed to mean that it would go turn (Fazed) turn (Fazed Turn(fazed)
Princess - Today at 11:35 PM
This is why I said just make is Fazed [X], since you're already using X to represent the number of strikes that hit

Those stacking will probably need to cost more than base, since by typical rules, the affliction of a status effect would cancel out the previous one. Only the highest turn of the same affect get afflicted.
Basically what you're doing is like... hedging your bets.
Pwnz - Today at 11:36 PM
But it is possible to have it mechanically done that way?
Cellar Door - Today at 11:36 PM
Yeah. I think one of my fire jutsu does that.

OK! Well, now that the status issue is fixed, I'll critique the jutsu itself. Hidden formatting (whatevs), Jonin looks good, chuunin-

...Damage caps, bro. Damage caps.

96+45 = 141, not 140. I know it's cleaner and the number freak in me wants to let it slide, but it's denial of nothingness something for nothing. No recreating the First Sorcery plz.

Your jutsu has dark background on the light skin.

As written, I think you are misusing Fazed. "Your Turn Order is increased by 60 - 10x, where x is your ninja rank. You may only be Fazed once per attack." This can only be applied on the turn it hits. You can't give multiple turns of Fazed, it can only happen once and it happens right away. This seems a bit contrary to the discussion from Discord the other day, so maybe the wording is just weird? But as written to me it reads that you can afflict '3 turns' of Fazed, which is not possible since Fazed doesn't get applied across turns.

Cntr:

In that case, following on from Princess' logic above, it might be easier o change the turn limit on Fazed from '--' to '1' on the main site to remove confusion.

Pwnzie: Either way, assuming the multiple instances of Fazed here are intended to cover misses and/or hit multiple targets instead of stack on one character, my approval stands.

Peregrine, thank you, as I have attempted to explain as best as I can, even though it is written to possibly give up to 3 turns of fazed if all 3 strikes hit, only 1 of them applies, as fazed is written. I am overpaying by 30 CP to hedge my bets and make sure they get hit with fazed.

Does that make sense Tony?

The change to "Each strike afflicts the opponent with Fazed." is good. The confusing part before was talking about gaining x turns specifically. Removing that the rules will just take the wheel and there won't be confusion on whether or not the jutsu is trying to change how Fazed works.

It might be better to put "one turn". Right now it was following the same logic as the "Destroy" status effects where it is just a thing that happens on hit and then is forgotten.

Beep beep, I'm glad I stopped in to check on things when I did, because...

... what?

Why is this a personal technique? This is canon. On top of that, I feel like it kind of misses the mark for the "big bad damage" signature technique that most Susano'os have. This was my draft of the technique that I've been tinkering with:

Yasaka no Magatama | 八坂ノ勾玉 | Eight Slopes Curved Jewel

Type: Ninjutsu [ Hijutsu: Susanoo | Dōjutsu; Sharingan | Coalescence ]

Rank: Jōnin

Cost: 255 Chakra

Damage: 480 / x

Effect: [2; Yasaka no Magatama] This technique may not be used without its coalescence condition being met, unless the user is a Susanoo Summon and pays double the Chakra required to perform this technique. This technique may be purchased by a character possessing the Susanoo Unleashing skill. For the purposes of calculating this technique's damage X is equal to a number of strikes declared at the time of use, never exceeding four (4). When performing this technique, the user may apply their summoner's Ninjutsu modifier to Yasaka no Magatama's damage; if they do so, their summoner may take no action during their next Main Phase. This technique has an additional 30% chance to critically strike. Yasaka no Magatama receives statistical modifiers from Ninjutsu and Accuracy at a ratio of 40:5.

It would be to your benefit to re-read the example used for coalescence techniques on the main site and apply the same principles here.

Alternatively, I addressed that issue on the draft that I have been working on and have posted right above.
