Predatory Archetype

Effect: The user may learn and perform Predatory Archetype Genjutsu techniques. 

Characters hit by a Predatory Archetype technique have the base cost of all of their abilities increased by 3% for one turn. If the technique used has its Pet Combination effect activated, this effect is increased to 5%. This ability may stack with itself, up to a maximum of 15%.

Description: Persistence hunting- pursuing one's prey until it collapses from exhaustion- has been practiced by humans, wild dogs, and other predators for millennia. Practitioners of this archetype emulate their ancestors, running their opponent's Chakra reserve low to force them into defeat.

Requirements: Path of the Tamer.

Cost: -2.

So things to note: I don't like Huntress Archetype, it isn't personal to your character so why use a female exclusive title for it? Honestly I think any theme of hunter is the wrong one. If I were you, I'd change it to Predatory Archetype, as hunters are in essence top tier predators and it makes more sense to fold your pet into it.

THAT SAID, such a change there is wholly fluff and won't hold back approval.

For the actual effect, I think it's fine. Though maybe avoid an X value and instead say:

'Characters hit by a Huntress Archetype technique have the base cost of all of their abilities increased by 3% for one turn. This effect may stack with itself. If the technique used activates a Pet Combination, this effect is increased to 5%.'

Puts the weight on 'the standard is 3%, 5% if you meet the conditions' instead of the awkward '5% if you meet conditions, normally it's 3%' which is cleaner linguistically. That said, that's also a minor change that does nothing to bar a pending approval.


So. Approved. If you make the changes I suggested, this approval will stand.

The requested fluff and mechanical changes have been made. On mobile though, and my phone is a jerk about copy-pasting on this forum (it always brings up a "Quote Selection" button that puts the selected text in a quote box in the post editor) so I just retyped it. It's not a word-for-word copy, but what it does is the same.

 

The name was no issue, I only went with Huntress because I didn't like the name "Hunter Archetype," but couldn't come up with anything better. I like your idea though, so I'm rolling with that. 

 

The description has also been updated, mostly because of the name change, but partly because it was longer than the rest of the skill and that always seems weird to me.

Reaffirming my approval stands and this just requires a mod+ to move.

 

Editing on 5/6/19 to say actually just needs an artificer now because this is a mod approval

I think this is really cool, but it will still need a limit on how much it can stack. I'd suggest ~15-20%, personally leaning towards 15 to be cleaner with both possible applications of this, though if you think you have a case for more I'm open to discussing it.

I mean you'd jump some hoops to get thus above 15% any way, wouldn't bother me much, but the cap regulates it a little so that's fine.
