Magnanimous Bond

Befriending the yokai sealed within a Jinchuuriki’s body is no easy task but it is achievable by those committed to the act. Their success pays off several in ways, including the yokai’s willingness in lending its robust chakra to its benefactor to do what they please with.

Effect: Characters with this skill may substitute the total Chakra cost of a technique with Yokai Chakra by performing a five (5) post training for each technique. The character's current Yokai Chakra is reduced by each technique's total cost when the training is completed. Techniques affected must be of the character's ninja rank and only up to x techniques may be paid for in this manner during battle, with 'x' being equivalent to the rank in this skill. Additionally, techniques paid for in this manner while the 'Yokai Cloak' is active are treated as techniques granted by the character's Yokai Cloak for the purpose of skill effects. This skill may not be used if the character's Yokai Chakra is 0.

Requirements: Yokai Focus; Alliance & Yokai Cloak Rank 1.

This skill is kind of similar to a few of the Yokai Chakra spending type techniques floating around though a little different in that they're paying for the cost of a technique as a whole and is most similar to Ichigo's Daemon Cloak skill. His allows the use of any technique within three turns to be paid for with Yokai Chakra, including Setup Phase techniques and in the case of higher Speed, multiple Main Phase techniques. It does have the setback of +20% to base costs of all techniques paid in this manner at least. I opted for a single technique to be paid for per rank in this skill.

 

All right, this skill now operates closer to how scrolls work with the Scribe and Scroll Arts skills as suggested given their similarities. However while similar, they still have enough differences, I believe, to at least justify a slightly lower cost.

 

While scrolls are truly and wholly free as far as resources go (not including paying for the scroll which is minimized by purchasing reusable ones), Yokai Chakra isn't quite as "free" and is finite unlike the other. It does allow you to use a resource separate from your own Chakra but it still has a particular use and purpose in it's own right that you pay for with SP. It does technically only cost 1 SP to access said alternate resource through the Rank 1 Cloak but through this skill at least, it'll cost 6 SP total at minimum to use it however you wish. Still, paying the minimum 8 for just the AS or 13 for full control during the AS in the end is ultimately what most jinchuuriki are expected to go, all while using said limited resource. Now using this skill greatly cuts into the Advanced System's full potential but you're still able to get a fair amount of use out of the SP expenditure you made (in addition to the amount in this skill) to use for a different purpose, though I can't say whichever is "better".

 

But anyway, has a 5 post training requirement for applying the effect to only techniques of equal or lower rank. Similar to inscribing techniques of equal ninja rank with scrolls. However the skill doesnt apply to higher ranking techniques nor is training reduced for lower ranking techniques, just the flat 5 post training, unlike scrolls. Also cant go asking others for their techniques, so have to fly solo. Topping it off, not only is the cost of the technique paid unaffected by Chakra cost reduction (similar to scrolls but for different reasons), but you also have to replenish Yokai Chakra before battle and after for the used technique(s), adding additional word requirements all around.

 

With all that said, I was aiming for -2 for the 1st rank and -1 for every one after.

Second one is approved, I'm all for it.

The first one, hell there is no way that is 1sp. Summons especially but clones and pets too are incredibly powerful elements that are intentionally disabled to balance out the power of a yokai. Adding those back in, I'm not super comfortable costing, but -1 is not going to happen. I'd lean closer to like, -3? At least?

I mean, I was kind of up in the air with -1 SP but -3 SP, at least, seems like a bit much honestly. I understand the Yokai AS is pretty powerful and don't know everything involved when it comes to balancing them but it's pretty comparable to Sage Mode as pointed out on a few occasions, which does have access to secondary characters, so I don't imagine it's that far off. They have their differences in some respects but even just the possibility of being able to bring forth pets, clones and/or summons while Sage Mode is active practically blows Yokai AS without any of those out of the water (hell any AS really). They would have the same counterplay options in both situations when it comes to the secondary characters as well.

 

The two even have the same overall cost at -13 SP (not necessarily same relative power but still), so to have to pay an extra 3 SP solely for being able to have secondary characters on the battlefield in a somewhat similar fashion as well seems outlandish. I've bumped the cost up to -2 for the moment however unless anyone else is of the same mindset.

Second skill looks good.

 

As for the first skill, I'm not sure it'll fly as is. Even without secondary characters, yokai are quite formidable and still hold their own against even some of the stronger AS (like sage mode) with secondary characters. A lot of the bonuses from yokai are balanced by the lack of secondary chatacters as well.

 

I'd say this would be better fit to drop to only clones and be a clan skill or path skill. Definitely requiring yokai focus: alliance and some training.

Moved this back @Celes . This is basically Scroll Arts, but way way way more flexible and not needing to find a friend to make you scrolls. Yokai is already arguably the best and most cost effective advanced system, I don't think it needs additional ways to tap that massive pool of free resources that it gets.
