almondsAndRain Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 (edited) Plant Clone Technique Here, let’s clean this up a bit: Plant Style; Plant Clone Technique Type: Ninjutsu [ Plant ]. Cost: 110X Chakra. Effect: The user creates X Plant Clones. X may never be higher than 2. Plant Clones have 110 Health, 10% of the user’s Chakra and Stamina, and 25% of the user’s non-tank stats. When a Plant Clone is destroyed, the character who destroyed the Clone has a 50% chance of being inflicted with one turn of Bound [Arm]. Description: wordsAndWords. Technique Points: 7 Right then, so to explain my changes: I moved the name to the top of the technique. It’s… well, where the name is supposed to go. Plant is not a Type, it’s an Element. Ninjutsu is a Type though, so that’s what I put in the field. Elements, Styles, Archetypes and about a dozen other things are known as “Tags.” The majority of the types of Tags go in brackets in the Type field. I removed the Damage field because it doesn’t need to be included if your attack doesn’t deal damage. It’s just a bit of clutter. In the Effect field, I added that the technique actually creates the Clones and named what type of Clone is being created. You need both of these. I removed the text saying that there is a maximum of one offensive action for these Clones, because that’s the default so the line just took up some space in the technique. I removed the CP costs from here as well, as they are basically only relevant during the creation process and have no bearing later on. Undecided Alright, so I’m gonna tackle the meat of the effect first: Chuunin rank Negation techniques can only affect a specific type of attack. Either Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, Genjutsu, Basic Unarmed, or Basic Weapon attacks. This currently stops any non-Genjutsu, which is too wide an effect. Chuunin Negations also cost you both your Main Phase and Setup Phase by default, but you can increase your Fail Chance by 25% to keep your Setup. On that note, you need to include the base fail chance of 5%. Also, all Response Phase techniques have a base limit of twice per battle, so you have one too many uses there. Now, regarding the crit chance boost you give yourself… I don’t think you should be allowed to buff yourself in your Response Phase. It’s meant for defending yourself, not making yourself stronger, and buffing yourself in it runs counter to losing your Main Phase. I’m assuming that this is why the technique costs 25 Stamina? Ninjutsu can’t cost Stamina without good reason, so please just drop that too. You can sacrifice Clones to lower the cost of a technique, though! But definitely not at a 1:1 Clone Cost to Discount ratio. You already paid for the Clones, they could have dealt damage, or created a Climate, or gotten reduced to one HP, or have been involved in any number of things that would have either already benefited you or decreased their value. I’m having trouble finding examples of Clones being sacrificed for a discount, however, so I’m gonna wing this one. Each Plant Clone costs 110 Chakra, I figure roughly one-quarter the cost of the Clone is a fair discount for killing them early, and the tech has you every one under your command so that the price is still variable like you wanted, but the JP cost is not multiplied because you can't pick and choose how many Clones bite it. Undecided Type: Ninjutsu [ Plant ]. Rank: Chuunin. Cost: X. Effect: This technique may be used twice per battle in the Response Phase. This technique has a 5% chance to fail and the user loses their Setup and Main Phases in the turn this is used. X is equal to the cost of one incoming [Fuh, choose one kind of attack: Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, Genjutsu, Basic Unarmed, or Basic Weapon] attack of Chuunin rank or lower. The attack’s damage and effects are negated. The user may destroy every Plant Clone under their control to reduce the cost of X by 25 per Clone destroyed in this way. This may not reduce X below 0. Description: wordsAndWords. Technique Points: 10. Six Days of Xianzi Bombardment Can you please elaborate on what this technique is supposed to do? The technique isn’t clear and I’m having trouble parsing your explanation. Edited June 25, 2020 by almondsAndRain 1
fuhgahkra Posted June 25, 2020 Author Posted June 25, 2020 (edited) Oh sorry about that I forgot somethinf dor that second part. Plant Release: Spore Clone Type: Ninjutsu [Plant | Clone] Rank: Chuunin Cost: 10x Chakra Effect: Spore Clones Have 10 Health, 1% of Tank Stats and 1% of all other stats. When a Spore Clone is destroyed, the character who destroyed the clone has a 50% chance of being inflicted with “Poison; 10” for one (1) turn, rolled in their next response phase. Up to twelve (12) Spore Clones may be created. Description: Using Plant nature chakra, the shinobi creates over a dozen replicas of themselves. The durability of these clones is specifically weak, as once they are destroyed they burst into a cloud of toxic spores that engulf the enemy who destroyed them. Points: 4 jp Matt gave me permission to use this justu so i was gonna make a technique that utilize them for some versatility. So that last one is supposed to work with this justu. It's a way to cause the posion damage and some extra damage if the opponent doesn't attack them. This idea came to me when talking to princess about another justu and realizing that if they donnot attack any of the clones. Then they're not worth much. The idea here is to command the clones to self destruction on one target, giving a chance for them to be posioned. I'm not sure if i want this act to cause damage itself, it depends on hoe thatbeould change the cp cost. Given that I'm using x for a value, perhaps it could only be done in two options, 6 spore clones sacrificed or 12 clones sacrificed. Edited June 25, 2020 by fuhgahkra Removed silly question
Princess Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 (edited) If it can pop 12 clones for a potential 120 poison damage, the technique cannot have any additional damage on it, because that would break the cap. If you were desperate to do this, do it with set values, not variables, and make it nice and simple. Name: Six days of Xianzi Bombardment Type: Ninjustu [Plant] Rank: Chunnin Cost: 20 Chakra, 6 Spore Clones Effects: Poison; 60 [1]. Clones used in this technique are destroyed. Description: using the spore clones summoned, the user commands them to attack their target, surrounding them and exploding causing damage and releasing the poison of the clones onto their target Requirements: Plant Release: Spore Clone Points: 2 So your clones pay half the technique and you pay half. Nice and simple, and an answer to someone not touching them. Each clone is worth 10, but it's just the poison we're worried about. You're changing it from 50% to 100% chance to inflict poison, and thus I think having them pay only half the technique is fine. EDIT: You can also add some damage to this so your mods aren't wasted. I would advise that. Edited June 25, 2020 by Princess 1
Princess Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 Plant Clone: Really want you to swap where the name and tags are, names go at the top of a technique. Mechanically though this is approvable. Undecided: Needs a name. Cost per clone is 110, I would say you could save 40 per clone. Slightly more than 1/3rd their cost. HOWEVER. If you do this, you must commit to never lowering the cost of a Plant Clone beyond this number. You will not be allowed to make something like Spore Clones, who are tiny and mass flood the board, that you can burn for this effect. You can, at high ranks, increase the value of your Plant Clones to give them more stats if you wish, and make evolving versions of undecided that have the rough 1/3rd cost pegged to the cost of a clone, but you may never go lower than 110. If you are confident that fits in your plans, we can work on this. Six Days: This is fine for all the reasons I listed when laying it out. It is also approvable. 2/3 good to go mate. 1
fuhgahkra Posted June 26, 2020 Author Posted June 26, 2020 Given princess's advice, I have adjusted undecided which i have decided to call Roog's equilibrium. Waiting for it to be given the okay, but if 40 is the max each could reduced I hope having it be 35 would be okay. If not, I can change it back to 25 and be good to go
fuhgahkra Posted June 28, 2020 Author Posted June 28, 2020 Reasoms for change: Ao after some deliberation, I decided to reduce the stats on the plant clones. Them being 25% wouldn't be really productive offensively so i think I'll make another type specifics for that. The gact that these clones are made to bound my opponents arm if destoryed increase this reason for me. So I'll have this type focus on that. So by reducing the other stats from 25% to 10% saves me 40 cp. Bringing the total cost of the clones to 70 cp each and allowig me to make a max 4. This results in a need to change Roog's equilibrium bc it was made for the 110 chakra version. Ik almond used a 1/3 ration for her opinion and i calculated princess's to guess and got ~0.43. So i used that for both using 70 and got 23-30 as a spot i think would be find for each clone to reduce. Let me know if that's good in y'alls opinion.
Princess Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 Ehhh, don't bank on the highest value when I'm rounding to be nice, doesn't always pay out. Here I'd say 25, not 30. 1
fuhgahkra Posted October 18, 2020 Author Posted October 18, 2020 Changed the negation type from taijustu to ninjutsu in Roog's equilibrium. This shouldn't change anything though.
almondsAndRain Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 Moved back to Custom because Fuh wants to fix an unintended side effect I noticed where destroying his clones as part of the tech can result in him accidentally poisoning himself.
fuhgahkra Posted December 2, 2021 Author Posted December 2, 2021 edit made, thanks for catching this Almonds!
