It's intended as a relatively risky and writing intensive way of getting to Stage 2. If you attempt to use this without friendly characters, you die. End of story. If those characters are interrupted while doing the Four Pillars technique, then you die. It's a roll of the dice in the chase for power. Which at its heart is what the cursed seal is all about.
