Blackrose Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 (edited) Hehe that sugar baby thing is cute Back to topic. Why is there so much enphasis on lyrics though. Personally I like like Reggaeton and Techno. Or basically any song where you don't need lyrics, and the beat can just take over you body and move you in ways that words just can't. Rap I wouldn't say is the worse music, but definatly not the best. All those rappers that only sing about girls, booze, parties, and sechs really need to think up somthing new. I could see okay maybe making one of those songs for a club or concert, but the entire CD on how they are more badass than the next guy is rediculus. Rock and all its subcategories is okay, but it's also not the greatest all the time either. Even my techno and reggaeton I'll get tired of somtimes and switch it. Other than that though I think all music that can move you, emotionaly or physically, is good and deserves some sort of respect. Edited March 15, 2006 by Blackfire Quote
experimental lover Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Thanks for also pointing out that repetition of music is rather annoying. I doubt many people here listen to the same thing over and over for a long period of time. A change is always nice, even if it is in the smallest way. Quote
Guest Ichi-kun Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I think its really crappy, rap it is. But i give credit to people like Eminem are skilled. But Go Metal! Boo Rap! Quote
Tantan Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I despise mostly all rap, only one hip hop singer I like. His name is Saul Williams. I am a rock enthusiast all the way, and have never liked rap at all. But Saul williams is excellent. I promise you wont be dissapointed if you check it out...Go along now, get it! Quote
Guest Sweet Neodaddy Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Tantan, I love you. Saul Williams is definitely worth a listen, and makes my top ten rappers list, and I'm elitist (so it actually means something if he does.) Quote
Guest Ichi-kun Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Hes the only rap i can stand besides Eminem as well lol. Quote
cntrstrk14 Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 As pointless as a playground ball. With all those rounded men and curved women in their videos there are no points to be found. As for punk, now there is music with a lot of points. Pointy hair, pointy clothing, pointy guitars. Points all around. Excuse my tiredness. Quote
Guest Azrael Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 haha agreed =D well never knew my thread was still going... but music video wise.. rock/emo/punk etc kicks raps ass.. sorry but its true... then again like some people here im a rock person through and through... have been for years =D Quote
Kiyoshi Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 There's one type (I guess its a type?) of rap that I can't stand.. that slow, sluggish one.. with the big guys talking about stuff I can't understand cuz it sounds like there is a frog in their throat. XD Quote
Matthias Drake Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 I kind of like that style actually... There's this British band called the Goldie Lookin' Chain that has some decent slow rap. Quote
Guest Ayame Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 Don't let rappers like Lil'Jon represent what rap is about. I'm not too surprised he became famous because he knows how to yell out four different words that are quite common to say. Quote
Guest Skye Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 ^lol YEAH!!! WHAT?!?!??! OK!!!!! What's the 4th one? Quote
Guest Sweet Neodaddy Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 "Uh," Skye. It's "Uh." Who called Lil' Jon a rapper anyway? I believe he's a producer. Quote
Guest Ayame Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 "Uh," Skye. It's "Uh."Who called Lil' Jon a rapper anyway? I believe he's a producer. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hasn't he released albums? Quote
Guest Sweet Neodaddy Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 (edited) What, really? Holy awful, Batman! Wait, no. He has released albums, but it was always him and the Eastside Boyz. They are the rappers, he is the producer. Edited March 26, 2006 by Sweet Neodaddy Quote
Guest Link_1987 Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Personally the only rap i kinda like is Eminem, because he sings more about meaningful stuff than killing someone (alotho he does sometimes) or mad drugs and money, guns, and girls... all the time, and one more thing y must they ALWAYS use the "N" word... i mean comon is it really nessecary. but thats my opinion i have friends that listen to it and a lil sister that does, ima rocker so this is probably not unusual to hear wat im saying Quote
