His father, Aston, was a member of the well known Nankan clan of the village hidden in clouds and his mother, Ulani, had married to Aston after her family had been killed in a raid on her home village at a young age. Aston and Ulani were very much so in love, however the Nankan clan that Aston was a part of did not allow breeding outside of its own blood, a sin punishable by death of the infant. Aston watched as his brother, Aston, enlisted into the government movement of his own free will. Knowing that he would soon be forced to fold into the government movement himself and the secret of his wife and child would soon be uncovered, he decided to flee the country. He sought not only a place where his child could live without fear of death, but also a place far away that the hand of the Kumogakure no Sato could never reach.
