The only known records of a forest fire in the Forest of Death was recorded at the hands of Yamanaka Bara, who in a last ditch effort to kill the spider-captain of [[Otogakure]], a representative of the [[NCIA]] lit the forest on fire. They were a long way from finding Takumi, but with his lightning affinity, he burned a way deeper into the forest and worsened the fire. With a crash in the forest they were ambushed by Gorma, who personally knew Souji for his time in the NCIA. Souji commanded the Gennin to find Takumi while he held off against Gorma, who outclassed him. To compensate, Souji had to use high powered jutsu just to keep staling, which came at a price. The kids found Takumi, who was still unconscious and trapped in a spider-web cage courtesy of Gorma.
