While Shion's appearance is still predominantly human, the unusual merging of himself and Shukaku has altered his appearance to demonstrate some of the Bijuu's natural traits. This includes permenant discoloration of his scelra, as well as the black tear-like markings that extended down his cheeks. When Shion's emotional state is heightened, the blue swirl patterns that decorate Shukaku's true form also appear, further demonstrating his "demi" state. As his own personal joke, he likes to wear a tanuki mask with gold eyes and black markings to "disguise" himself.

About

Formerly a prodigious ninja of Sunagakure, Shion's ambitious (and often time arrogant) nature made him a bit of a show-off, taking unnecessary risks and often deliberately putting himself into difficult situations just to prove he could get out of them. His aspirations for strength and prestige ultimately sealed his fate, making him one of the most powerful yet ironically enough hidden figures of the Sunagakure ninja.

When the previous Jinchuuriki of Shukaku passed away, Shion eagerly volunteered himself as the next host. He believed he was strong-willed and skilled enough to contain the Bijuu, and secretly coveted the power that the tailed beast would grant him. Unfortunately for the young Jounin, Shukaku took advantage of both Shion's willingness and desire for the Bijuu's strength. When he was sealed into the human body, he fused his essences into Shion's very being all but destroying the distinction between man and beast. This fusion permanently altered Shion's physical make-up, dying the sclera of his eyes black and marking his skin with other physical traits of his union with the One-Tail. He will often remained cloaked with his face concealed to hide the obvious signs that he is a Jinchuuriki, though ironically designed a mask that reflects Shukaku's influence on his body.

While Shion will often refer to himself as two separate beings in one body [occasionally using pronouns like we, us, our], for all intents and purposes the two [Shion and Shukaku] are one in the same. This has made him somewhat unpredictable, as it's impossible to tell whether or not his ambition or motives are fueled by human or Bijuu desires. However, Shion is also aware the the minute he seriously misbehaves he will be robbed of the freedom the strange union has granted him, and as such generally does as he's told. When not on missions that require the skill and power of the Jounin/Bijuu, Shion spends his time indulging in hedonistic pastimes, reveling in the more base forms of human entertainment and pleasure.

• Shion operates as a ghost, with no official record of his duties or missions. He answers only to the Kazekage.
• "Shion" is an assumed name taken after the transformation into Shukaku to further demonstrate the existence as a shared conscious.
