The Tsuchikage, The Earth Shadow

The Tsuchikage, or 'Earth Shadow', is is the title which the singular primary leader of the Country of Earth's Hidden Shinobi Village -Iwagakure no Sato- bears. It follows the tradition of the leaders of every village being referred to as the most important element to the village, and 'Shadow' at the end, which fits perfectly well with the shinobi-nin of Iwagakure, whom utilize earth to such a degree that the Tsuchikage title should not be used in any other village, or go unused in Iwagakure no Sato.

Political Standing

The military leader of the country. They are the one in charge of all ninja in the country and are called to the front of the government in times of war. A good Tsuchikage has also been known to be used for politics even when in times of peace. Historically in the Country of Earth, the line between Tsuchikage and dictator or ruler of the country has been smeared. There are many instances in the country's history in which a Tsuchikage was the highest power in the land and others where they had sunk to nothing but the mayor of their own hidden village.

In recent times, the Tsuchikage has worked very closely with the Prime Minister of the Country of Earth in order to work to better the country. He is in charge of all war related issues and often works in peace treaties involving other nations. As well, he is in charge of all of the shinobi requests and contracts internally and externally. For all intents and purposes, he is a revered war time general during a time of relative peace.

Tradition and the Tsuchikage

Traditionally, the Tsuchikage is to be referred to as 'Tsuchikage-sama' or '<Insert Number>daime Tsuchikage-sama'. Even after a person is 'active' Tsuchikage, they are referred to as such, by most people. Likewise, in their death, they are referred to by their title, except by family, (Some) admirers, or loved ones.
