The Hokage, or 'Fire Shadow', is the title which the singular primary leader of the Country of Fire's Hidden Shinobi Village -[[Konohagakure no Sato]]- bears. It follows the tradition of the leaders of every village being referred to as the most important element to the village, and 'Shadow' at the end, which fits perfectly well with the shinobi-nin of Konohagakure, whom utilize fire to such a degree that the Hokage title should not be used in any other village, or go unused in Konohagkure no Sato.

In the new regiment, the Hokage has become the complete overseer of all political, economic, judicial and militaristic branches within [[Hi no Kuni]].  The Hokage resides within [[Konohagkure no Sato]] while the [[Daimyo]] resides within Hotarunoshi, the capital of Fire Country.  Within the past, there were several battles of power between the Daimyo and the Hokage over the use of shinobi.  Within the new system, the Hokage, while the final word in all the proceedings of the country has split the power between the Daimyo and the Country Council. 
In the recent era, the current Hokage has worked side by side with the Daimyo and the people of Konohagkure so Sato to rebuild their village and rebirth their entire country.  The newly designed system allows for the Hokage to take leave to complete a mission of top priority, or travel to other countries instead of having his messengers do his work.  The great Hokage's in history have their faces cared into the rocks adjacent to Konohagakure and are known for their great care of its populace.

Traditionally, the Hokage is to be referred to as 'Hokage-sama' or '<Insert Number>daime Hokage-sama'. Even after a person is 'active' Hokage, they are referred to as such, by most people.
