The Symbol of the Shamans

The Asaito Monastery is located in the mountains of Rai no Kuni. It houses the hermit order of Asaito Shamans who desired to get away from the world and commit themselves purely to scholarly pursuits. Since most of the population of Kumogakure no Sato believes in the Cult of Raijin, they had removed themselves in order to avoid confrontation. It is to note though, that an Asaito Shaman often will visit the Hall of Sages to converse with other scholars and work with them in plain clothing. The Asaito Shamans seek answers to life's questions through ritual and solitude. They are a nonviolent people, despite being able to wield and understand chakra.

Within the Monastery, there was a scroll written by the Sage of the Six Paths. This scroll ultimately was the reason their temple was attacked by bandits and their order all but destroyed. Luckily, they had hidden the scroll in them editation room, disguising the key as a tile. The Asaito Shamans were clever enough to make sure the key didn't look like a key at all. They made it look ordinary, particularly because anything the Asitos valued most was something fundamental to human existence and most fundamental things appeared ordinary. Only a few Shamans are left today.

They believed the earth gave birth to all and that it was still a conscious, living thing. They saw summon beasts as what they called “Sky People” since they come from somewhere outside of the world. They believed a higher or higher beings disguised the Sky People as animals and other things that already inhabited the earth to disguise it. But when they were found out, the Sky People seeded the Earth and bore humans, made of earth and star. To combat them, the Earth formed the bijuu and history happened. The Shamans believed that the yokai were sent as punishment to humans for consuming the earth and wasting it for their own good. They also viewed chakra as a sacred energy, which fueled most of their rituals and devotions.

The Asaito Shamans were strong believers in alternate dimensions that will intersect into the human world for a brief moment. This allows for space-time jutsu to work and further established their belief that chakra united all dimensions and was the truest, highest being. The Yokai were also bred of the Earth when humanity needed a cleansing.
