Destroyed Kinomi no Toshi

Shinobi Times Excerpt

The Quaint Town of Kinomi no Toshi

I'm sure at least once in your visits to any grocery store during your entire life, you have purchased or sampled the berry harvest of the small little town of Kinomi no Toshi. Though its location is unknown to most and a sought after 'dream' land to visit, the few outsider that have found it enjoyed their stay and worked the holiday annually in to their schedule.

Nestled in a forest of the Southern Fire Country, the paths become thin and lonely to track down this abode. It's small population a shaving less than fifty, now reduced to absolute zero. There were reports of a smoky streak across the sky to the south of Konohagakure no Sato, in less than two hours time, the bright, unnatural gleam in the sky, illuminating cerulean hues and pluming smoke came to a halt, investigation teams arrived too late; all that had remained was ash.

Some suspect a natural disaster; a sign of th End. Many activists in the world began to spread their own views, scaring some and enthralling others. Some cry arson, while others claim it was a casualty of war. No accounts breathe truth, for all evidence and witnesses that we know of are ash on the wind.

A moment of silence and observation for those who have tasted the sweetly sour delicacy that grew in the area and exported to the world known as the Amaisawa berry. The fire had taken th fruit along with the citizens, what is on the shelves of markets are the only berries or jelly left, enjoy them as long as you can. This report is several days after the incident, because of the solitude of the town, after the fire had died, investigation was not top priority, but rather was the safety of the World's nations and it's children, for it's becoming more and more obvious of the birth of rebels. It is advised to keep traveling to a minimum, traveling within the same country is the safest, even more within the Hidden Villages.

Berry Town During the NCIA

Shinobi Status: On the rare occasion of a shinobi being raised in Kinomi no Toshi, they choose whether to ship them off to the Country of Fang or to the main Konohagakure no Sato Resistance. But bing such a small town, the NCIA aren't as interested in it as normal places.

--

Nestled in the south of Konohagakure no Sato, lays a town, of a small population known as Kinomi no Toshi. A small town, usually forgotten by the NCIA, but a quaint little abode to a small dosage of dwellers. Some tourists come on vacation to this small little town to enjoy the delectable fruit known as the Amaisawa berries. No ninja are currently known to be stationed or live in the town, but there hasn't been much care over it. What is a secret in this small little town usually stays as such until the keeper finds their grave.

The town itself is surrounded by many trees and bushes, where trees are not located a berry bush fills its place, usually. There is a sole rocky path leaving the town and coming to it, surrounded in shade most times because of the tree's leaves and branches. The town's economy flows off the harvest and production of the berries to be shipped around the world.

Despite the lack of the population, there is one inn in the town, family run of course, a bed and breakfast.

Destruction

Kinomi no Toshi was such a small town during its day that the NCIA had passed over it and neglected it on their daily watch. It was believed to be a safe haven, which is why Hohken Soujiro brought his students to stay in the town momentarily. It was nearing the time of the Festival of the Harvest and he planned to return there, to his home, anyway. He sent two of his students ahead, while he gathered the remaining. They held shelter with his sister, Yochi Namiko, meeting them in the central fountain area of the town. After shwoing them around a bit, she gave them their rooms in the family inn for the night before the festival would begin.

Soujiro finally arrived that night, with his cousin Hohken Tsukasa and a group of others who would all stay at the Yochi inn. The next night the festival would begin with jubilant music. dance and many recopies of the various berries collected in the famous berry town. It was all wonderful, until thunder rolled across the sky and just as quickly as lightning stuck, the NCIA had blew into Kinomi no Toshi.

They were searching for the lost traitor, Hyuuga Mizumono and had followed her all the way to Berry Town, now fidning the apt time to strike when everyone had their guards down. It was not a ninja village, but the task force sent to acquire the traitor was equal to the town population (about 50). The town was in smoke and flames led by a viscous commander named Yatame. The town was charged with housing Resistance criminals and threatened to burn the town to ash if they were not produced. Yatame was certainly breaking protocol with such force. Soujiro and Tsukasa had held off the main brunt, while the Resistance shinobi started to flee. A squad of eight NCIA shinobi engaged the resistance ninja in the village. Mizumono's cherry blossom sword would slay most of them and even some of her comrades, with losses on both sides it was a miracle they were able to get away, led by Tsukasa.

Still in Kinomi no Toshi, facing Yatame Soujiro would prove the victor, but not before that Yochi inn was bombed, with his sister Namiko still inside. She remained, using the little healing skills she had to try and help, but not even she could avoid the pain of the explosion. She wobbled out of the inn, enough to catch the glimpse of her brother one last time. She drew her final breath and died in his arms. Quickly, the masses of Kumogakure shinobi surrounded him, preparing to attack. None of the townspeople would survive, the only ones who would were the shinobi and Tsukasa, now over the hill outside the town. With his emotions getting the better of him, Soujiro released his chakra. The NCIA wouldn't have time to lay a finger on him before Soujiro leveled Kinomi no Toshi in a giant azure flame, leaving only ash as remains.
