Sarutobi

The Sarutobi Clan (猿飛一族, Sarutobi Ichizoku) is a legendary clan from Konohagakure. It has produced several renowned members who have held positions of high authority, including the Third Hokage; whose son, Asuma, held membership in the Twelve Guardian Ninja. As well as the Eight Hokage; whose great grandson would become the Tenth Hokage. The clan is recognized as exemplary observers of the Will of Fire.

Overview

The Sarutobi Clan were one of the first clans to ally themselves with the Senju and Uchiha-founded village, alongside their brother clan, the Shimura. The clan ingrained itself within the fabric of the Hidden Leaf by taking post in multiple positions of authority within the village. While others would only further the reputation of the clan by taking important roles within the larger governing body of the Fire Nation as a whole.

The clan's political savviness would bring more clans under the banner of Konoha by uniting the Yamanaka and Nara clans with the noble, Akimichi clan. This bond created between the three by way of the Sarutobi would further strengthen the village and each individual clan. It has been a long standing tradition that one of the Sarutobi give each of the members of the current Ino–Shika–Chō trio special earrings when they swear their oaths.

The Sarutobi clan continues to serve the village and the Fire Country, in vital ways since the fall of the Kumogakure Empire and NCIA.

Abilities

It is said that Sarutobi clansmen have exceptional willpower and strength. Exceling in fire release techniques and a select few have even been entrusted to safeguard the knowledge of highly prized secret techniques.

• Sasuke Sarutobi: A renowned ninja of the Sanada Ten Braves, during the Warring States Period.
• Hiruzen Sarutobi: Son of Sarutobi Sasuke. Student of the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, and Third Hokage of Konoha. Known as 'The Professor' and 'God of Shinobi' (忍の神, Shinobi no Kami) for his extraordinary ability in ninjutsu.

  

• Konohamaru Sarutobi: The grandson of Hiruzen Sarutobi. A master of the Rasengan technique and the Eight Hokage of Konohagakure.
• Mari Sarutobi: The great grandson of Konohamaru Sarutobi. The Tenth Hokage and inheritor of the Rasengan technique. Mastering the Rasengan and a plethora of other techniques. A Professor in his own right and a capable teacher as well. Developing the abilities in both the Eleventh Hokage, Amanohara Konpeki and the Hachinin, Namikaze Rasen.
• Asuma Sarutobi: A famed member of the Twelve Guardian Ninja and son of the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi.
• Jenoba Sarutobi: The current head of the Sarutobi Clan and member of the Fire Country's Sentinel Guard. He is the brother of Mari Sarutobi and great grandson of Konohamaru Sarutobi.

Trivia

• The Sarutobi Clan's name means Monkey Jump (猿飛) and comes from the famous, real life figure of Sarutobi Sasuke. While many elements of the clan draws influence from the character Sun Wukong in the fable: Journey to the West.
  • No single clan has produced more Hokage than the Sarutobi Clan with three. Those being the Third, Eighth, and Tenth Hokage. The next best being 2 in the Senju Clan with the First and Second Hokage respectively.
  • The Sarutobi clan are said to be exemplars of the Will of Fire. Having more influence on the development of the village than any other clan throughout its history.
