Datura is a trading outpost of notable wealth due to its fortunate location along such a major trading route. Though it is still small in comparison to the other major cities of Kaze no Kuni, it is much larger than the average settlement that spots the edges of the desert. The outpost itself is hundreds of years old and has come in and out of direct control of Soma to the far north. In most recent years it acts nearly autonomously from the three major city states of the country, supplying each and maintaining its own policing force and taxation. Because of its placement on the road it is impossible to come this way into the country and not pass through Datura's massive walls. It is because of this that is has gotten the nickname "Desert's Gate". The outpost itself grew from a small core settlement, and because of this it has many streets and curving pathways that it makes it easy to get lose if one is unfamiliar with the layout.

Datura's Sprawling Bazaar and Market

Datura is a trading outpost and village on the eastern edge of the Kaze no Kuni desert. It sits on the road between Nigiyakashufu and Soma about ten kilometers from the border of Kaze no Kuni and Kiba no Kuni. It is the first major outpost on this path withing Kaze no Kuni and one of the largest that dotted the desert's edge. Datura is most known for its massive market which sprawls throughout its streets, under foot bridges and through roofed arcades only to spill back out into the street on the far side.
