Uzumi Ren

Uzumi Ren is an Otogakure gennin known affectionately as the “Flash”. Ren has recently become a power player along with his team mate Yue Fei for their fellow involvement in the Otogakure Famine Riots of 2115. Ren has become known for his incredible speed, some believe it to be faster than even the Hachinin and teacher Namikaze 'Raz' Rasen,along with his wit and quick mouth. Despite often rubbing some in wrong directions, Ren has shown heavy compassion for his fellow man (especially his team mates) and is quickly gaining a reputation for helping clean the Otogakure streets. Currently assigned to his team with Raz, Yue Fei, and Naiyume Lillina, many believe that this Otogakure quartet are becoming a large power group.

Original Psychological Analysis

Ren’s personality is quite unique for the world we live in today. Ren shares a cocky attitude with his quick mouth. His witty banter is considered one of legend through the village. His chatter can often turn a bad situation worse, or turn it into a good situation. His mouth moves as fast as his legs, and as such he appears to speak without thinking. This is not the case. Ren carefully picks each of his lines to change a situation or to lighten the mood. He believes in the power of speech, but often comes out as cocky. Ren can easily be described as a ladies man due to his affinity of the other gender. He constantly makes moves on other girls with cheesy pickup lines, yet somehow wins the girl at the end of the day. His attitude is not considered ninja quality, yet somehow Ren continues to surpass people’s expectations. All in all Ren is a good guy that backs up his trust in other people. Ren is a loyal friend that will go to the end of the Earth for you or risk his life to save you.

Along with his personality is Ren’s love of exploration. His constantly moving personality requires Ren to see new places and try new things. Ren will always seek out a thrill or pull you into a dangerous situation, but by the end of the day you will be happy for it.

"After the Otogakure Riots of 2115 Ren has displayed temporary memory loss over the events that transpired. Whether or not these were caused by physical trauma or mental trauma is uncertain. It has been established the actions he performed may have been drastic, and the beatings he took were severe, but until further research can be performed I am uncertain. Everything appears perfectly normal in Ren’s personality other than one key trait. I have found while testing him that Ren is trying incredibly hard to hide a deeply aggressive part of his personality. Appearance

-Height: Ren stands a reasonable height of 5’10 without shoes or sandals.

-Weight: Without clothing on Ren weighs 130 pounds. Usually clothing and equipment adds 15 to 30 pounds easy.

-Hair Color/ Style: Ren has dark brown hair that is often mistaken for black hair. Due to his constant moving nature, Ren spends little time on keeping his hair under control. It is often seen just flipped around, yet still manages to look good. Many girls confuse his carelessness of his hair for the sexy unmade hair. If only they knew Ren just hates messing with it.

-Eye Color: A much lighter brown than his hair, Ren has beautiful light brown eyes. The eyes could be considered caramel in color and seem to be yet another luring feature about Ren.

-Physical Description:

Ren’s physical appearance is one worthy of mentioning. To start off we will work from the face down. As the hair has been explained already we will move a little farther down. Ren has mid-sized eyebrows, putting him at a perfect bushy brow zone. He has about half an inch of space between the brows. When going to his eyes he has no unusual features. His eyes are the perfect size with the perfect amount of spread. The spread distance is exactly the length of one eye which is roughly under an inch and a half. His nose is mid-sized with no hook at the end. His lips have a little perk and his teeth are all perfectly aligned. His face is essentially attractive. Moving to his chest you are almost immediately able to see his body build. His chest muscles are built and are naturally perky. His shoulders are firm and always kept straight. His arms are toned but not muscle building size. When going to his abdomen it is clear that Ren sports a rigid body. His abdomen is firm and noticeably muscular. He has a toned hip area which provides a v muscle line in his lower waist area. Going down to the prize of Ren’s body… his legs of course. The legs are extremely muscular, but not oversized on Ren. In fact they are the perfect size, and perfectly toned. They are the most beautiful part of Ren’s body and finally lead down to his feet. His feet are a size 13 which is abnormal for his overall height. When wearing his trademark custom sneakers, it should be noted that his feet look slightly larger.

-Clothing:

Ren has been known to wear a variety of outfits over the course of his shinobi career, and very few of them rely on stealth as a factor. As his nickname would suggest Ren prefers clothing that allows him to move at high speeds without being a liability. He does insist that he looks stylish while fighting however.

Chunnin Exam Festival Attire

Ren has modified his main attire for the special chunnin exam celebration. Having combined features that he mainly sports between winter and summer, Ren has focused on keeping the general black and burnt orange color combination. Starting from the bottom down are Ren’s trademark sneakers. Solid black sneakers the a large burnt orange lightning bolt wrapping around his heel and jetting off on both sides of the sneakers. The bottom tenth of an inch on his shoe is also burnt orange and has a large amount of grip on the bottom layer. Moving up one will notice that Ren is sporting jersey shorts in this attire. In order to maximize his leg freedom, Ren went with his black jersey shorts that show off two burnt orange vertical lines along the pocket to the edge of the shorts. Intersecting these vertical lines are diagonal black lines that provide a small amount of relief from the burnt orange. On top of this is a black sweat jacket, which is completely black other than the two horizontal burnt orange lines which share the same feature as the shorts. These lines rest on the shoulders and go all the way to cusp of the sleeve. Underneath the jacket is the inverse coloration of the jacket in the form of a short sleeve athletic shirt. Accessories that go with this are black fingerless gloves with an orange triangle with the point facing down at all times. Ren’s hitai-ate has also now been modified with a small toad trinket, and the headband is still wrapped around the upper quad of the leg.

Other Attire

Civilian Clothing: Although this clothing varies due to different usage form day to day, Ren is most famous for his main civilian wear. The proudest feature of his attire which Ren loves is his shoes. He has many pairs of sneakers and each of them is customized. In this particular outfit he wears black sneakers. These sneakers are highlighted with a neon blue thunderbolt that streaks across the sides of his shoe. The bottom layer of his shoe is white and is only about a tenth of an inch thick. After the shoes comes the pair of dark blue jeans. These jeans appear worn out in some places with what looks like dirt. Do not fret; it is the designer’s intention. The jeans stretch over the upper part of the sneaker and go up to the proper waist line. To tie off the waist line is a solid black belt with a silver handle. It is usually not seen due to the shirt covering. This shirt is what some believe to be called a polo. Yes the black shirt has that beautiful, comforting mesh along with a nice collar. This particular polo also features customized lightning bolts that streak up the left side of the shirt from the waist to the armpit. The lightning streaks are blue. On both his wrists Ren wears one blue sweat band. In civilian attire Ren prefers not to wear his hitai-ate. If forced to wear it, the headband is put around his left arm.

Shinobi Clothing (Summer): As stated before clothing can vary in this form. Used between spring and fall, Ren has specific clothing for the occasion. The summer attire is designed to give Ren freedom of legs and arms along with keeping his body cool. The change to his sneakers in this attire is black sneakers that have burnt orange bubbles on them. The bubbles vary from large to small but have a decent amount of space between each of them. The sneakers have a tenth of an inch of red gripping on the bottom. Moving from the shoes, Ren sports a pair of high end track shorts. Made from the highest quality around, these shorts are completely black… other than the two large vertical burnt orange stripes. These two stripes are somewhat curved and covers the sides of the shorts. It then curves and covers the pockets of the shorts as well. To top off the outfit Ren has a tight athletic shirt that is meant to absorb moisture and maintain body temperature. The shirt is completely black until the shoulder area is hit. The shoulder area is occupied by a large horizontal streak, burnt orange in color. This streak has many diving points that allow the black of the shirt through. This makes it look like large map markers on Ren’s shoulders. Ren’s accessories for this outfit include two black fingerless gloves with burnt orange triangles on each glove. The end point of the triangle always points down. Ren wears his hitai-ate tied around his right leg, usually around the lower quad.

Shinobi Clothing (Winter): As stated before clothing can vary in this form. Although it does not vary as often than the other clothing styles. This style was designed with the purpose of keeping Ren warm while at the same time providing him the freedom of flexibility. Like all his outfits, Ren is most proud of his sneakers in this form. They are completely black with a white lightning bolt on the side of the sneaker. Like always there is a tenth of the shoe that is occupied by the color white along the bottom. To follow these sneakers is a pair of thick baggy black pants. These baggy pants have a zipper halfway down the legging that allows the bottom half of the pants to be shed at any time. This allows for Ren to easily change his clothing to a more summer attire should the need arise. Above the jeans lies a tight sweat jacket. The jacket appears to be made of nicer qualities then one would expect in a sweat jacket. The jacket is grey all over except for three large white shapes across the chest and upper abdomen. There are two of the following shapes (one on each side) in descending order; trapezoid, rectangle, right angle triangle. The sweat jacket can be taken off at any time to reveal a solid red shirt underneath. This shirt is the exact same type of shirt as the summer style except with black streaks. Accessories with this outfit usually include red gloves with the fingers cut off. Also the Hitai-Ate is wrapped around the upper right leg’s quad.

A World Without Rule

~Life that can’t be Remembered should be left so…~

Birth… such a powerful gift from the creators themselves. It is the term that has been given to bringing life into this world. However, what people do not like to think of is that birth sometimes takes lives as well. Mothers in particular are at risk during this beautiful phenomenon. Uzumi Sakura was no exception to this factor. While giving birth to her beautiful son she obtained vital wounds. As she lay on the table breathing her last gulps of life, a name was given to the newborn child, Ren son of Sakura and Leo. Sakura knew of her impeding death as the doctors tried to save her. She looked at her newborn son without flinching, while her husband could only create tears. Leo did not want to lose the love of his life to something he didn’t even know. His whole life had been a fight until he met Sakura, and now it would continue again. As Sakura breathed her last breath no words came from her mouth. She left the world without even saying good-bye to her husband. The doctor’s said that the baby’s screams were quieted by the loud mourning from Leo. Leo was left with no one whom he could love, while Ren was born into a cruel world with no mother to care for him.

~The life of an Innocent in a time without such things~

Innocence is a time to be enjoyed, even if it only lasts a short time. In the case of Ren short time was what Ren became used to. While it has never been confirmed, many believe that Ren was able to walk before he was even a year old. This speculation is likely true due to his nature to run away from his father at an early age. Ren was quite the explorer from birth and as such was constantly performing mischief. Whether it was sneaking into a neighbor’s house or just hiding from his father Ren was constantly doing something. This spurred his father’s established hate for Ren. As if things weren’t already bad enough with his father, the constant trouble making drove Leo into drinking stupors. When Ren was old enough to reach a cabinet, he was fending for himself. Ren was to make his own meals and make sure that he made it to school on time. Any other time Ren spent in the house was meant to be away from his father. When asking his father to play, Ren would receive a quick correction. Then he would be reminded if he wanted someone to play with he should not have killed his mother.

~Birth of the Speedster~

As Ren approached the age of seven, staying at home was no longer an option. Ren decided to occupy his spare time by playing in the city. With such a large city filled with infrastructure, Ren had the largest playground in the world or so he would come to think of it. Occupied time included exploring the city, running the tracks, meeting new people, and staying away from Leo in general. During this time Ren discovered his love of running which quickly turned into his main form of entertainment. Ren was content with just running around the city for hours. He was good at it. He would always beat the kids around the city, and even the ninja in training. It was something Ren had that his father could not take away. As Ren grew older in the year he began to learn how to adapt to living with his father. Ren created a hard personality shell covered in sarcasm, jokes, and cockiness. It was the way that Ren knew how to cope with what was happening. His personality became known quickly around the village as he traveled from side to side of town. Whether it was exploring the high end estates or going to the slums for some fun, Ren began to spread himself around the village. He found that people generally liked him, and spent even more time away from home for this reason.

~Where were you when Kumo invaded~

The empire’s battle tactics were perfect. Within the month that they invaded Kumo had taken out every military installation and installed their leader. Oto had been concurred by the Kumogakure Empire, along with many of the other great nations. It was a time of panic and confusion amongst the people of Oto and rightfully so. Ren’s father had begun to drink even more, and was in a constant drunken state. As the days passed Ren’s father became abusive and Ren suffered. Ren was forced to remain with his father day after day during the occupation until two years had passed. When Ren hit the age of eleven the time of opportunity came. Otogakure was rebelling against the NCIA occupation, and Ren seized the moment. Ren turned his father in as a member of the resistance, and then the NCIA came. They arrested Leo and he was never heard from again, with his exact fate never being known. Since Ren was now without a father the NCIA paid him compensation for his loss. Ren knew he had to leave Oto for a while, and as such packed his bags. Ren was ready to explore the world that he had heard of in legends. After receiving his license for travel from the Empire, Ren departed the Land of Rice swearing to return.

From Explorer to the Otagakure Flash

~Strange Lands~

Ren’s first stop in his journey led him to the land of fire. While journeying Ren experienced terrains that he had never experienced before, forests as large as the eyes can see. In Ren’s mind the trees reminded him of a city filled with organic buildings. When coming to this conclusion the navigation of the trees became easier, however the path was still hard. Ren made his way deep into the country and even experienced some of the city life. The people in the land of fire were depressed due to a recent rebellion to escape NCIA rule. While in Konohagakure Ren met children his own age that were trying to become NCIA shinobi. He realized just how far some people are willing to conform for safety. Ren didn’t like to see such fear, but by seeing it he became prepared of things to come in the future. Ren was impressed by the beauty of the land of fire, and decided that one day he would return to see what the people were truly like in happiness.

Despite the bad experience Ren continued in his journey through the world. He steadily made his way to the country of the fang. The country was ripe in pride at the moment while at the same time being filled with fear. They had experienced a monumental rise to power, but were now on the brink of losing the said power. Ren liked the city life here, and admired the lands unique features. Features like the large caverns beneath the country’s surface. While exploring these natural formations of rock Ren met many guides that showed him the way of the cavern. It was very unique and gave Ren a great understanding of one wrong step could signal an end to you. Not only did Ren respect the caverns near death features, he began to believe in always carrying a source of light along for a journey. As Ren began to leave the Fang land, he learned to appreciate the countries natural and manmade beauty. However, he once again found himself lamenting the fear of the people. While Ren was sure he would one day return to the land of Fang, only a few weeks later the land was invaded by the Resistance joint forces.

The time for travel was ripe! The NCIA had fallen and people were ripe with excitement. As Ren explored the lands of sand he noticed a visible change in people’s personalities. They were happier when they were freed from rule. Ren could not help but remember the time where he was under his father’s rule. Ren was happy to see this hope for a better future, and stuck around in Sunagakure for a while. While he lived there he experienced unreasonable temperature and a great new group of people. They taught him the value of their land. Ren learned that while something appears like nothing, there are always hidden values beneath it. Ren could not help but question this knowledge as he explored the lands. Sand was not a friend of Ren and the feeling was mutual. As Ren learned to deal with the heat and sand, he took in the appreciation of freedom that he had. The experience was one that Ren had been waiting for since he started wandering. As he realized this he felt a renewed sense of exploration and once again began to wander the lands of the world. As he made his way to the border, Ren and sand had become friends. Ren learned never to stand on sand for too long, and it will be kind to you in return.

For almost a week Ren could not navigate the lands he was in. Mist and rain halted the sight the boy had so heavily relied on. He had entered the country of rain, and learned that he was not welcome here. The terrain itself wanted him to leave, along with the villagers. They were not kind to outsiders, especially since the invasion of the NCIA. After being freed from their control the rain ninja did not want anyone to ruin their new found peace. Such actions prevented Ren from entering the village, and for that reason Ren soon became lost. Struggling from the terrain Ren was halted in his journey, trying to find an established path. As Ren began to adjust to the heavy rain and harsh winds, he slowly began to find a way to his next path. Ren established that he would like to visit the land of stone, most noted for their leader who was an Alchem. Ren finally located the way to the new country and left the land of rain. Although Ren wishes to return to witness the village, he believes it will be quite some time before he is able to do so.

The land of stone had been reached! Ren was filled in excitement as he visited the lands, wondering what surprises awaited him in this land. He admired from the start the terrain of the land, and understood why this country was constantly repelling invasion. The rocks served as the perfect defense, but often were spaced enough for life to flourish. As Ren passed through local villages on the outskirts of main cities, he was taken in by the culture. They were liberal people who believed in the equal treatment of others. Perhaps this is why the land was so ripe with culture as he headed towards the city. He experienced no hostility from these people, although some did question what a boy his age was doing exploring by his self. Ren often shrugged off such things since kids his age were being sent to the battle line. Ren visited many of the cities such as Metropolis and Iwagakure. The infrastructure was modern, and the people the same. Ren stayed for some time until his welcome was worn out. When the villagers began to stress about the imminent invasion of the west, their hospitality quickly drained. Ren did not mind however, he had seen the fear from many people. It was nothing new to him. As Ren wandered through the country he found himself on the border of Otogakure. Ren could not help but look at his own reflection. He was fifteen, almost sixteen in age. Gone from his lands for almost 5 years, Ren suddenly felt a tired wave sweep him. With this new wave Ren decided to return home to Otogakure.

~Birth of the Flash~

Ren settled down and found work through the local ninja agency. They sent him on running errands, and as it turned out he was still one of the fastest people around, if not the fastest. As the ninja agency realized his speed, they requested the Ren be enrolled in the classes for beginners with all bills paid for. The offer was difficult to refuse, and before Ren knew it he was in training at the academy. It was during this time that Oto itself was once again in fear. The high poverty levels and large famine was sweeping the nation. Ren was used to this feeling, and decided that he was done with the feeling. He decided that he would help these people if they demanded it so much. The people with power should do the right thing. Ren used his attitude to cheer people up, and eventually graduated from the academy. He wished he had graduated earlier as the riots prevented him from helping out for quite some time. As everyone stayed under lockdown Ren realized that this country was hurt, and he would one day help in its healing. As the months past Ren gained the reputation as the Flash, the man who could never be touched. People viewed him as the quick change they were hoping to witness, and Ren was happy to carry that burden for them.

The Otogakure Famine Riots of 2115

Before this power shift in 2115 Ren had just completed his academy training and engaged in training under his first teacher Resumo Leira. Ren quickly felt attached to the teacher, and quickly began to pursue her as his love interest. Despite being swatted away by her kind rejections, Ren continued to pursue her until an unthinkable event occurred. An explosion that could be heard by anyone, sound ninja or not, ricochet off in the distance. At the time Ren had no idea he was about to be drug into a deep power struggle between government and people. Leira escorted Ren to the heart of the violence where they encountered the rescue forces, Ren’s future teammate Yue Fei and teacher Raz. Despite initial bickering between Yue and Ren where each tried to stake a claim over Leira, the two settled their pissing contest and united to fight off the current threat at hand.

While Yue was assigned the task to apprehend anyone trying to damage the city, Ren was to attempt to disband the mob through his words. Failing to convince the majority of the people to stop the rioting, Ren quickly improvised a new plan that would end up destroying the very psych of his brain. Ren quickly irritated the crowd in order to create a pursuit against Ren. As the crowd rushed after their new target, Yue made quick work of some of the more dangerous rioters. Coming up with the idea to trap the rioters, Ren led the group into a dead end street where he quickly blew up the nearest buildings to create a barricade to prevent the people from leaving. Despite this barricade people quickly began to engage Ren and the barricade, leading Ren to throw a high powered explosive tag to subdue the crowd. While Ren had come to the conclusion to kill some to save the rest, Leira had come to the conclusion on one should die. Using her body to shield the blast, Leira was quickly taken out of the riot permanently. Ren realized the folly of his error and quickly tried to correct it when he was arrested by Yue. Despite this arrestment, Ren quickly escaped his “comrades” entrapment and rushed to Leira’s aide under disguise. Before extracting Leira, Ren was sold out of his transformation by Yue which quickly allowed the villagers to realize which person was Ren. The villagers assaulted Ren until one knocked Ren out completely with a 2 by 4 which was followed by the others quickly destroying the body that Ren’s mind had now left. Unknown to Ren at that time, he (along with Yue and Leira) would be rescued by Ritsuka.

While under the deepest forms of mental recovery, Ren was re-introduced to his deceased best friend Matsuda. Matsuda would serve as his only friend in his beyond conscious world, and would show Ren just how much he had changed. As Ren went on this deep spiritual journey he came to the conclusion that since he had become a shinobi everything in his life had changed, but it wasn’t because he had become a shinobi more so than him letting himself change. With this realization Ren was finally able to move along with his healing process where Matsuda would reveal that his mind would never remember this conversation on a conscious level, nor would it remember what had transpired over the past few days. Ren questioned Matsuda on this to no avail and was sent back into the world of consciousness where he awoke in a hospital.

Despite the initial awkwardness of not knowing where he was, Ren quickly adjusted to the environment he was now in. He was quickly re-introduced to his now formal teacher Raz, along with his now formal team-mate Yue. Despite initial bickering between Yue and Ren the two quickly hit off in their own weird sense which led Raz to the conclusion of their team’s future. Giving the two boys money to end the night, Yue and Ren would quickly wander off to a bar to drink. While drinking the two bonded a little, and were assaulted by a group after Ren’s money. While Ren was of the approach to take the fight outside, Yue was very insistent on starting the fight there and then. After the bar fight ended, Ren had a free meal and a good memory.

The Festival of Leaves

The Hall of Toads

Ren and Yue were recruited by Raz to endure a hellish training regime to prepare them for the upcoming Chunnin exam. Raz believed in the two with the highest amount of fate he could bestow onto the young men. Unknown to the group when they left for the world of the toads they were joined by a younger girl who went by the name Naiyume Lillina. Despite being shot down multiple times by the girl, Ren continued flirting with her despite not knowing where the hell he was. The fact that he was surrounded by toads the were larger than Metropolis skyscrapers quickly sank in which put Ren in a state of unease in the land of the toads. Eventually led on an eventful trip by Raz, the group would arrive at an ancient hall that was many stories tall. There the group would meet the elder toad who went on to provide fortunes to each of the group members, despite Ren’s initial hesitation to the idea of having their fortunes read to them. As Ren approached the toad it was revealed to him that he would always be a great traveler, and would one day develop gifts that most shinobi could never dream of. He was warned that his path could easily be swayed, but if he stayed on the correct path he would always be the building blocks and foundation to most relationships. The toad believed deeply in Ren, and said that Ren had the potential to become an ambassador of the highest class.

After receiving their fortunes the crew went onto their training regimens where Ren was quickly forced to learn his natural element, wind. Despite initial trouble in learning how to create wind chakra from nothingness, Ren quickly succeeded in developing his wind chakra and went on to learn his master’s famed Rezakiri technique. After this first day of training, Ren would go into solitary training where he would begin mastering the Rezakiri along with developing the Rezakiri.
