Nara Yoshikiro

Nara Yoshikiro, Former Hokage.

Nara Yoshikiro was the Hachidaime Hokage of Konohagakure no Sato. His life was one of moderation and was known for his rather harsh and strict measures on foreign policy and national security. He was often criticized as being too strict, with his most vocal and outrageous opposition calling him a dictator. Yoshikiro was secretly murdered by Uchiha Madara in the year 2189, but was replaced by an underling of Madara who had undergone training and surgery to take the man's place. The fake Yoshikiro continued on in the role of Hokage for another five years before being silently removed by an internal organization in 2194. The exact details on the removal of the impostor have never come to public light, the general population believes Yoshikiro to have passed away peacefully in his sleep.

Biography

Nara Yoshikiro was the great grandson of Nara Shikamaru who lived during the lifetime of Uzumaki Naruto. Nara Yoshikiro was raised to the rank of Hokage at the age of 29 after the peaceful passing of Sarutobi Konohamaru in 2059. During his time as Hokage, Yoshikiro took a stance that placed Konoha and its interests ahead of other nations and even above the needs of other city states within Hi no Kuni. This was very controversial during his time and a major speaking point against him. His opposition believed that the ninja were meant to be for the people of the country. Yoshikiro was in actuality not as strict as he is often portrayed, but his stubbornness and refusal to bend on certain beliefs caused him to make many enemies. Of course, no Hokage that was truly a dictator could have survived for 35 years in office like Yoshikiro did.

During his time as Hokage, Yoshikiro oversaw many students that came from the academy and grew into great shinobi. One young man that took his interest, a student under one of his personal body guards named Ikari, was Uchiha Madara. This young man, aside being from a prestigious clan that was just getting back on its feet, had much natural potential that caused him to grow rapidly. Yoshikiro's interest may eventually have led to his downfall. After Uchiha Madara left the village to form his own organization, Yoshikiro investigated and learned too much. Confronting Madara himself with his own personal guard including Ikari, he was killed along with everyone he brought with him in the Forest of Death just outside of the village itself. Because of the secretive nature of the man and the mission at hand, no one in the village knew of the skirmish. Nara Yoshikara really died in the year 2089 at the age of 59.

Madara, partially to hide his organization and partially to expand his power, placed a subordinate masquerading as Nara Yoshikiro. This subordinate had undergone extensive training and surgery to take on the role, and succeeded for five years in doing so. An internal party within the village eventually learned of the masquerade and removed Yoshikiro without public knowledge. As far as the public was aware, Yoshikiro lived to the age of 64 and died peacefully in his sleep in the year 2094.
