Political Map of The Country of Fang

Kiba no Kuni, also known as the Country of Fang, is a medium sized country that sits between Hi no Kuni and Kaze no Kuni, where it has been the battle field for may fierce wars between the ninja of each country. Despite a large base of war torn and misshapen land, this country holds the City of Nigiyakashufu, Capital of the World. This gem of a city has kept the country on the map, with 95% of the population and wealth concentrated in the relatively small city territory. The eastern edge is consumed mostly by the large forests of Hi no Kuni, while the western edge consists of barren, fruitless lands and desert. In between is barren and un-vegetative land that had been torn and sundered from centuries of ninja and ancient warfare. To find a hospitable place among the barren and hilly terrain is near impossible and very few animals can survive in such harsh conditions.

Economy

The economy of Kiba no Kuni is based almost entirely on Nigiyakashufu. The city, and thus the country's, main export is in services, various training and minerals. Because of the harsh landscape and the almost complete inability to grow crops on a large majority of the country's land, much of the food that is produced in the country stays within the country. In addition, as a neutral state and a place for many countries who are even at war to meet, the Country of Fang receives annual donations of substantial amounts from the other ninja countries.

Terrain

Kiba no Kuni's wasteland terrain.

The terrain of Kiba no Kuni is mostly an inhospitable wasteland filled with large flat surfaces broken by rocky outcroppings. Water is hard to come by in the wastes, with ground water being the only hope for thirsty and unprepared travelers. The land itself is unfit for vegetation, and as such there is very little to be found throughout the heart of the land. Along the borders the land becomes fertile, forests on the eastern edge and flat grassland and savana plains in the west and southern coast.

Architecture

Since only about 5% of the population lives outside of Nigiyakashufu, the architecture of the outlaying settlements is crude and simple. Mostly made of stone, mud and clay because of the lack of access to large amounts of wood, the structures are often low lying and clustered together in a few dozen at most.

Culture

Because of the sparse living conditions outside of Nigiyakashufu, there is very little culture shared amongst those who live out on their own. Villages are made up of a dozen or so homes, and often not even as many as that. It is well known though that people of the Kiba no Kuni wastes are some of the most stubborn and strong willed in the known world, digging in and surviving in what many consider to be the most inhospitable habitat on the continent. Small communities are key, where people rely on each other for day to day tasks and living essentials such as food and shelter. By most standards of living, people of the Kiba no Kuni wastes are poor.

Weather

Often dry, though very reasonably temperatured. Because of its location, Kiba no Kuni tends to float at a temperature between 50 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Because of the lack of major sources of nearby water and the formation of land surrounding, Kiba no Kuni rarely sees rain anywhere but in the southern portions along the cost. Oddly enough, the country is often overcast or cloudy.

Transit

The majority of travel through Kiba no Kuni is on foot through the wastes. Because of the condition of the land, it is near impossible to make and maintain a road. Because of this, the hard earth is instead marked by wayfarer posts, or large wooden or stone poles with a flag. They are spaced in half kilometer increments along all the major travel paths through the country.

There is a single railroad line that runs from the Sekitan no Kuni to Nigiyakashufu. Though normally only used for the transport of goods, it has been known from time to time to service travelers from one country to another.
