Namikaze Ichigo is a Gennin Ranked Shinobi from Kirigakure specializing in swordsmanship style ninjutsu taijutsu, is aspiring to someday be a part of the seven swordsman of the bloody mist, the famous sword user group that has carved themselves a bloody reputation through the history books.
Background
Namikaze Ichigo was born in Otogakure no Sato’s Hospital in May 2100, to Namikaze Minori and Ryuudama Mitzuki. His father, Mitzuki, was one of the hottest rock and roll front men of the time. His mother, Minori, had ran away from home to dive deep into the numerous nightclubs that run non-stop on the outskirts of the city. Minori couldn’t stop himself from falling for the man, but she did seem to move from groupie to steady lover quicker than most that Mitzuki had been known to run through. Eventually the man’s music career died and he settled down with Minori, marrying her. The marriage was often strained with a slew of the red light districts more seedy habits, and abusive tendencies to boot.
Ichigo didn’t grow up worrying about where his next meal would come from, he did however wonder if his mother or himself might receive some accompanying verbal barrages or, on special occasions, truly vicious physical assaults. Sometime ranging from small concealable bruises to full on broken bones on two occasions, both of which his mother suffered the worst off. After several years of the abuses, somehow his mother had convinced Mitsuki to get counseling and therapy. It was a long two year road with many relapses, on the other side of that tunnel, Ichigo was truly alive. His father became apologetic and supporting, on a basic level, of his son. A very basic level, akin to the ‘I’ll buy you Guitar and turntables possibly a dog, if you forgive me, and leave me alone’ type of support. Nothing the boy actually craved from his father, but better than he had been used to. He counted himself lucky, starting to view the world with dreams of his own, being a bigger star than his burn out dad.
The young Ichigo was a bit of a trouble maker in the civilian grade schools, constantly vying for attention, positive or negative it mattered little to him. When his mother announced she was pregnant with her second child, it exacerbated his attention seeking habits further. Eventually he was expelled from, the civilian school and was enrolled into the Otogakure Shinobi Academy. The child did fare better in the Academy but struggled to stay focused, and thus became a sort of class clown. After a few years he started to reach his end at that school as well, he started skipping classes to work on his music. This often lead him to the same venues where he father had once claimed his piece of fame.
Surprisingly the addition of his little brother had seemed to truly bring about a change in the family. His parents got along better, nearly like a healthy relationship. His father still held Ichigo at an emotion distance he was comfortable with, the older boy a reminder of much better, and much worse times. Though he craved his fathers attention, his mother’s own waning interest in him cut him much deeper. At times he felt replaced, and would seek any kind of distraction. This caused him to focus heavily on his musical skills away from his house, in the comfort of nature. As well as seek the attention of anyone who would fill his gaps in the city, often going much farther into the rabbit hole than he anticipated himself to reach. Most times he thrived in the chaotic environments, other time’s he was emotionally devastated by how similar he acted to his father when he was a child. He maintained an unusually chipper emotional armor, seeming to be the center of the party and the jester of any group he associated with.
His truancy issues flagged him by the civilian police and he was forced to change to a more restrictive class within the academy, and by extension he was forced to start showing up again. He hated that class even more than the last but he did start to learn a fair bit about chakra manipulation and it’s uses. He even had to admit that some of the skills he learned could be applied to his music career, something he implemented, at various nightly club style raves, as a DJ. He even got to work with his cousin Raz once, but he was pretty intoxicated so he doesn’t remember most of the experience; something he regrets occasionally but still considered the best night of his life…Right up until he stumbled his way home for some damned reason. He had planned to stay at someone’s hotel room or house or something to avoid coming home shitfaced at fourteen years old.
Best anyone could determine Ichigo had tried to show his brother a new technique he had been working on, his brother the only person in the house he didn’t have sort of repressed anger towards. That moment he had felt something pulsing around him, he tried to tap into it, and his body changed. He had unlocked his dormant kekkei genkai, the one no one in his house knew he had flowing in his veins. The Sennika Transformation does give its wielder great physical prowess, however it comes with a unique cost, a cost Ichigo’s entire Family paid. His little brother’ life. Later he discovered that an enzyme caused his blood rage, he had torn his brother nearly in half with his bare hands before his father ran into the room and knocked him out. He had taken in and used a part of Natural Energy, this fueled the rage and caused him to go berserk, only half aware of his actions at the time. Every dark thought he ever had seems to be cast on the person closest to him, and it was impossible for him to control his actions consciously. It trapped him in his own little hell for maybe a minute.
When he awoke, he found himself in a different room, the Otogakure Shinobi Police had him within one of their interrogation rooms and he was restrained. He was alone, convinced he had been on some new drugs and had imagined the fragments he remembered. Maybe some hardcore super fan of his actually snuck something into a drink and kidnapped him. His mind even turned to the all but confirmed rumors of human trafficking within the boarders of Oto, this caused him to freak out until a Chuunin Investigator came into the room to quite him, and talk to him now that he seemed awake and partially back to normal. The Chuunin in front of him just so happened to also be his old Academy Instructor, something that made the boy cringe, that guy seriously hated him. During the following conversation with his, apparently former generational rival, he discovered the details that eluded to his participation in the savaging. A few days of investigation later and his bloodlines origin was researched and cataloged, samples of tissue and blood extracted from him as well as the prodding of his brain by some type of concentrated genjutsu. He was lucky to not have his wit shredded by the process, as hard as the pushed the boy to find the truth. It seemed they were half convinced he had actually wanted to murder a family member in cold blood. The process of determining what happened, and the uncomfortably of that process helped insulate his emotions and compartmentalize the tragedy of the whole thing.
In the end he was absolved of murder and was allowed to leave, under a few conditions he wasn’t informed of immediately. He had be expelled from the academy and a deal worked in from the shadows by his parents, Denchi no Kuni’s Daimyo and the man Umikoi Warrusu. Having been so close to their youngest child, his parents couldn’t stand the idea of being around him, but they both felt terrible about the boys early life. Content to ship him off to Minori’s brother rather than look at him, Ichigo wasn’t consulted and his uncle, Namikaze Arashi, hadn’t visited them since he was six years old as far as he would tell, before the NCIA took over. His real anguish was two fold, he didn’t really give a shit who’s house he lived at until he was sixteen, when he could legally be on his own without having to be a shinobi. The first tragedy he held was obviously his brother and knowing he had crippled any chance of his parents living any sort of happy life, and he also had a sort of bubbling self hatred that was only bolstered by the knowledge that this Kekkei Genkai could easily do the same thing. When his parents picked him up, his mother couldn’t look at him and his father’s breath was already saturated by alcoholic odor, another relapse…only rougher. The thought sending him mentally back to being six years old seeing his mother choking on her own blood after being kicked in the ribs several times in one of Mitsuki’s early rages. He actually looked a little forward to escape that sort of retribution, though he knew he deserved it. The pictures they had shown him of his little brother’s, remains… they disturbed him, not sure exactly how he could possibly have really ripped two of the boys limbs from his body with his bare hands.
The other part of him struggled with loosing his blooming musical career in Otogakure, as base and petty as it seemed. Loosing one’s dreams, or the perceived loss of them, is a mourning process in its own right. The move to Kirigakure no Sato was always going strip him of all the contacts he had made and the few dedicated groupies he himself had started to cultivate. When he arrived back to his parents house Arashi, the uncle he was to stay with, was already present, he had obviously made a great effort to be here on such short notice. Didn’t it take a week or more to travel between the two countries? It became apparent rather quickly that Namikaze Arashi was a top notch shinobi from the Mist, something the man had laughingly told plainly to Ichigo. He had the same sort of aloof charisma that the boy normally associated with his cousin Raz, the man obviously had seen some shit to not blink an eye at what transpired a few days ago. Intrigued he questioned the motives of the man and why he would want a kid like him living around him. The answer was that Ichigo was to become a shinobi for Kirigakure, and that the Otogakure administration wanted little to do with him after his stunts in Oto’s own academy. Raz might have pulled some strings as well, though this wasn’t ever confirmed though. In exchange for his service to Kirigakure, they would instruct him on how to manage his new condition so he didn’t harm innocents. As long as he let them use him as a resource… After a short private talk over tea, which did take a small amount of convincing on Arashi’s part, Ichigo agreed to the proposal, like he ever had any real choice in the matter.
Probably the hardest part for the boy to admit to himself was the amount of relief he had after the rage, or his hate that a part of him enjoyed the release. Their travel to Kirigakure took them three days on the back of an enormous pelican, something Arashi had summoned, something that impressed Ichigo on a deep level. The idea of having someone or something always ready to have your back seemed largely appealing. On the trip his uncle had explained some of the finer nuisances of life in Kirigakure, Arashi was particularly descriptive with the beaches and how the women there were absolutely gorgeous, tanned goddesses. The man all but drooled during some of the recollections, the man obviously had his own problems with perversion. Not only that, but Arashi genuinely seemed to care about the citizens of his village, hating the rivalries that historically divided his home. His new sidekick wasn’t hard-pressed to disagree, they seemed to share a fundamental ideology. A decently comfortable chemistry developed quickly into the second day, more like brothers than he had been with his now late biological one.
On the third day as they were approaching their destination Ichigo begrudgingly agreed that he did find a thrill in the idea of being a full fledged citizen of Kirigakure no Sato, and by extension the Land of Water. He even went as far as to vaguely describe that the flashes he was started to remember both scared, and in an odd way, exhilarated him. The comment sparked Arashi’s own thoughts on killing and how it was a necessary evil in the world and everyone bares the weight in different ways, his own method of looking towards the results and how it can make tomorrows days a bit better. Arashi uncomfortably confided in Ichigo that he had poisoned his father before they had left Otogakure no Sato. The boy was shocked, but Arashi’s explanation on why made to much sense, and seemed to validate his uncle’s philosophy at the same time. That time he visited when the boy was six, the man found out that his father was savaging his mother, abusing Arashi’s sister and he couldn’t have that. He made a promise that he would kill him if the man ever laid a finger on his sister again. Mitzuki had caused a bruise on Minori, and so he had to die. His death stopping any future harm to his sister, possibly her own death. The poison should have been quick and untraceable, the tea his Uncle had made in the sitting room, not one of them noticed how he had done the deed. Ichigo wondered if it were true, and later did find out his father had died. The village had blamed it on an overdose and coronary failure as a result, subtle accomplishment of his goal in a village of ninja proved that indeed Arashi might be the best person for him to be with. Not only as a mentor in the ways of shinobi, but as an inspiration to not loose who he was; or the parts he still liked about himself. A lingering thought that his uncle might too one day be his end, if he lost control again, stuck in his mental library for later use. It seemed like a fair enough deal, his uncle also seemed like he wouldn’t be taken as a victim of his nephew Ichigo's outbursts. He was after all, a Sennin of the ‘Blood Mist Village’ and he employed many his talents for the village as the head of the Kirigakure Biological Research and Development Division…how convenient . The impossible notion that he could go into another frenzy and actually kill him, was actually a real comfort to the boy. But not only that, but Arashi did have some idea’s on how to reduce the amount of enzymes that made their way to his Modula Oblongata. Something he would have to test.
And test him he did, thoroughly on his first night in Kiri. After a few days settling into his new secluded beach house, and a few lessons on Mist street smarts. Apparently thug tactics, as harsh as they were in Oto had a particular sting in Kirigakure. Crime that got caught was punished harshly, but if there wasn’t clear evidence to pin down a perpetrator, they often got away with it. The motto, ‘no evidence, no crime’ appeared hold real weight in the village, the crafty and prepared held both the underworld, and the shinobi world here. The real trick of politics in the Land of waves, was to not get caught, and pick your moments. The Council and Mizukage maintaining the illusion of a peaceful village… on the surface. Ichigo maintained his confidence of what rough treatment was, having been the victim of muggings and seen bodies eviscerated in alleys along his home’s…his old home’s, red light district. He found his uncle had the truth of it when he got into a fight on his first day at the Kirigakure no Sato Shinobi Academy. A rather large Hoshigaki had picked a fight with the ‘fresh fish’, only to have Ichigo place him under a genjutsu and walk away from the fight. Something that enraged the Shark faced asshole and caused him to attempt to sucker punch Ichigo, at the last second the Namikaze’s battle instinct kicked in and he had unknowingly tapped into the reserves of Nature energy around him. The transformation hadn’t caused him to loose control this time, he remained himself, in control of his actions. It did however allow him to quickly rip through the assault placed upon him and counter it, brutally. The crowd around him astonished at the transformation that they witnessed, and the power at which the young, skinny kid displayed. He had left the Hoshigaki intact, but bleeding and unconscious, something that seemed to interest the onlookers rather than scare them. Shit was everybody this strong? Were they going to want a piece of him too?
In the first few weeks he found himself acclimatizing quickly to the new atmosphere of his new life. His studies actually progressed and he took time to learn rather than dismissing the notion of being a shinobi. His dreams seemed to morph more to that on Raz, he wanted to be a great ninja this time around, and a bad ass musician. He even learned that he had a few fans all the way out here, something that gave him the confidence to keep progressing with his music in his free time. Learning how to control the nature energy within himself safely, a large priority for himself and his uncle. So much so a priority for Arashi that he normally sent one of his numerous summons keep an eye on him most of the time. Something that can slightly annoy Ichigo at times, but overall he is grateful for the company. They act less like babysitters than he expected, and didn’t try to stop him from doing anything, except raging out on innocents when he trained. Holding either personal sealing methods to stop the enzyme, or a direct line of communication that would cause Arashi to arrive almost immediately. Sometimes reserve summoning or others a technique that allowed him to emerge from some nearby source off water. It truly was astonishing, over the next two years his uncle maybe came six times to stop him, just in time in a few of those and never blamed him for the outbursts. Arashi had truly become both a brotherly figure, and more astonishingly, the father figure the boy had always wanted. He was truly happy in his new life and it clearly came through in daily personality. He became known as a shameless flirt and sometimes tease, but more importantly to him he was being acknowledged as his own person now. He didn’t live in the shadow of his father’s shame or feel trapped constantly under someone else’s bullshit for a change. He moved on to start his new life with optimistic vigor, and the goal of returning to the music scene bigger and better than ever before. All that stand in his way is finishing the academy and surviving until he can make his dreams come true, because he will reach his dreams, that is his Ninja Way.
Personality
Namikaze Ichigo has been a bit of a slacker his entire life on everything that really mattered, until he moved to Kiri. During that time he has learned how to focus on the task at hand and had dedicated himself to becoming a great shinobi. He is still the same girl crazed kid who likes to get intoxicated from time to time, usually both at the same time if he can manage. However he does tend to take his actual mission assignments and official business with the village rather seriously. This is not only his respect for his uncle or his thankfulness to Warrusu for allowing him to become a citizen. Or respect for the new Mizukage for taking what was his. Ichigo understands that the strong will eat the weak, but often desires to help those under him who show promise, but never at his own detriment. He shows a zealous optimism most of the time, often resulting in unfunny jokes or terrible one liners.
Appearance
¤| Eyes:
• Ichigo has warm hazel eyes that have but the slightest pitches of blue. For the most part people from a distance have likened the eyes to a light brownish orange color. The eyes seem slightly haunted and sunken but have clear smile lines starting to creep into his young face already.
¤| Hair:
• The Namikaze’s hair mirrors the same golden brown hues his mother had, more a dirty blond. The Sun however can alter the appearance from bright, to aa mottled gray in the misty mornings. He styles his hair at what he would call a medium length, and it seems to lay mostly flat to his head, even before styling or trying to make a certain look happen. He has been noted as wearing it in odd fashion for shock value or some other fancy.
¤| Civilian Attire:
• The boy doesn’t just go for functionality in his daily attire, he spent some of his life in the extreme fashion conscious atmosphere of the Otogakure night life. As a minor celebrity there he tried to maintain some trendy looks, but had a hard time deciding on a particular look, something that has plagued him when determining his mission gear as well. On an average day now it is more likely than not to find his relaxed in some sort of hoodie or jacket, with some dark pants. His standard issue ninja boots are pretty much his constant go to however.
¤| Mission Attire:
• Ichigo has had a hard time fully selecting what will become his mission gear, however he has taken to wearing a fish net shirt under some outer layering of clothes like a jacket, and wears either black pants of the Kirigakurian camo leggings he was issued. The standard issue ninja boots, and the standard tool bag strapped on his right hip for easy access to his tools.
¤| Physical Description:
• Ichigo is a tall kid with a slender build. He has always stood over a bunch of his classmates when in otogakure but had always been a little scrawny for his age. He has built up his muscle mass over the last couple of years, but his frame shows little of the progress. It is rare that people would guess he was a Taijutsu specialist by nature, based solely on his appearance; also his clumsy nature gives pause. He has been described as rather handsome by many of the girls in Otogakure and Kirigakure.
