Hagemasu Kikuya [鼓励菊屋 Gǔlì Júwū] is a jounin of Otogakure no Sato, and the heiress of the Hagemasu clan.
Appearance
Hair: Black, Kikuya's hair is fine and naturally falls into unruly waves down her back.
Eyes: Dark brown.
Physical Description: Kikuya inherited a fairly full figure- her curves are noticeable but not overbearing. She carries herself proudly. Her skin is a deep beige and marked with scars of her profession. Kikuya has her father's strong set lips and sharp nose and her mother's double lidded eyes and high cheekbones. Her earlobes are pierced twice, and usually hold drops of white pearls.
Clothing: Kikuya is commonly seen in brightly patterned robes, appearing to dress well beyond her means. Kikuya steers away from the traditional shinobi sandals and instead wears a pair of black leather boots, flat soled and over the knee. She wears the Otogakure jounin vest on rare occasions and often leaves on assignments without it. More casual attire includes a plethora of jumpers, short shorts, and incredibly ugly sweaters. Overall, her typical silhouette involves long sleeves, a risky hemline, and kickass boots.
Personality
Kikuya is a volatile character. Acting mainly on self-interest, she feels no qualms manipulating others or abandoning a losing battle. She will be polite and pleasant to potential stepping stones, and then leave them once useless with sadistic brutality. She is fairly neutral towards most things but tends to like or dislike something to obsessive and addictive extremes. With her problematic jealousy streak, she forgets easily but never forgives. Misgivings against her are treated as an eye for an eye, and if she helps someone, she expects he or she to repay her in the future. The rules don't apply in reverse though.
Kikuya isn't creative, although she is incredibly pragmatic and resourceful. She puts little trust in others and tends to shoulder the burden of a team task alone or not at all. Friends can avoid her penetrating glare and sharp tongue if they stand beside her and keep her from the extremes, and they will find a knowledgeable and determined companion with an awkward yet genuine concern for those she cares for.
Background
Kikuya was born in the fall of 2090 from an unusual union between the clan head, Hagemasu Kaisei, and a prostitute with the alias of Kagerou. Selected for the purpose of furthering the reviled clan's lineage, Kagerou herself bears an uncommon history. Hailing from the less traveled continents of dynasties in the East, Kagerou's beauty earned her the fancy of a high-ranking official. When the official's wife discovered the affair, the jealous woman used her own vast influence to kidnap Kagerou and ship her across the sea on the next slaver's ship leaving port. The Hagemasu clan itself is small in estate and cornered off into the caves. Poor and detested by much of the village, much of the clan resort to scavenging, thievery, and gambling to put grain on the table.
Kikuya was raised in near total confinement to the clan estates in her upbringing until Kaisei decided it was time to enroll her in the academy. She graduated the academy at twelve with an average class standing and no notable abilities, and continued toward chuunin rank over her teenage years in a similar steady and unremarkable progression. In the summer of 2107, Kikuya was captured by the NCIA during the invasion. She would wither in the vice of the NCIA for the next three years, unwilling to serve and refusing to disclose the layout of the caves where her clan went into hiding. She was subject to extensive experimentation due to her bloodline, flowing no truer in her than within Sakon and Ukon of the past, which made for a rare chance in which researchers could use her to prove and advance Orochimaru's infamous research.
With the fall of the Kumogakure Empire, Kikuya was brought home to the clan grounds. It took weeks and years to rehabilitate her from the experiments, and in recovery there were more bad days than good. Kikuya sought the Kyoukage to return to the shinobi path, and with her knowledge of Otogakure's seedy underground, Kikuya was able to exploit the civil unrest to climb the shinobi ranks.
Career
Even as a jounin of Otogakure, Kikuya is not known for her heroism. She chooses jobs where she carries the absolute advantage and often uses her training against people who are nothing more than petty thugs and discontent farmers. In her records, she is described as doing the bare minimum to complete her missions, and repeatedly taking easier missions that she clearly outranked.
Recently, due to oversight or shortstaffing, Kikuya was unfortunate enough to be assigned to taking on gennin. Her tutelage has been nothing but negligent and reckless, and due to that had her first three-man team taken away from her. Currently she oversees the training of two gennin- Jikken Uta and Tetsugaku Kaito.
Combat
A jack of many trades yet a master of little, Kikuya utilizes genjutsu and taijutsu evenly. Kikuya begins fights defensively, and rather than overwhelm opponents with force, she prefers to use her dual disciplines to whittle them down. She has a duality in her attacks, and utilizes her bloodline abilities to either take on the fearsome god-form of destruction, or call her twin Karuna to the field to unleash crippling genjutsu on all sides of an enemy.
Kikuya is also a skilled sensor, and paired with her genjutsu affinity and her bloodline ability allowing her to pass through solid obstacles, makes her an unparalleled candidate for reconnaissance.

- Kikuya has the highest starting-level of any PC, due to receiving 100% experience transferred from Haramatsu Korin.
- With Korin's passing, Cloudnine wanted her next two characters to inherit Korin's traits of light/dark and medical jutsu/genjutsu. Kikuya was given genjutsu and 'darkness,' while Hounoki was given the medical kit and 'lightness.'
- Kikuya's build is intended to be a counter to 'stackers,' the most popular way of building characters way back when.
- Kikuya's favorite flower are magnolias, which grow on Korin's final resting place.
