Inabikari Raikou

Raikou was a self-made man who's violent actions belie an agenda for absolute peace. Steady in his resolve, Raikou's humble beginnings with no ties to the Raikage line of succession ended with him ruling the entire shinobi world- and was the first man to ever do so successfully. Though his name had been slandered and mud-splattered since the fall of the NCIA, Raikou is know as one of, if not the greatest Raikage that ever graced Kumogakure no Sato in the history of the village. He is a hero to the village, and was always acting within their best interests, even at great personal cost. Even still, his main goal in life was never to ensure Kumogakurian dominance, but rather, bring about world peace by creating one, unified shinobi nation. Though he was diehard realist with a magnificently tactical mind, Raikou's mental growth would be a result of tragedy after tragedy that forced him to grow up, even as a mere gennin. The loss of practically all of his loved ones over the years only strengthened his resolve in finding peace in this world, even if he had to force the impossible to happen.

Appearance

  • Hair: Throughout the years, Raikou's mane had changed color slightly. As a kid, his hair was on a lighter brown color, on par with the sweetest milk chocolate one could think of. As he aged, however, the coloration darkened, even to the point where it was practically black as a thunderhead depending on the lighting surrounding his head. Towards the end of his reign as the Raikage, white hairs became increasingly obvious amongst his roots and beard- the stress of his position taking it's toll on him. Raikou prefered to let his hair be feathered back somewhat, allowing his forehead to become visible, and keeping any locks from getting the way of this sight.
  • Eyes: Raikou's eyes have been described as tinted like the ocean during a midnight storm. They pierced through all who dared stare into them; casting those away from the window to his very core.
  • Clothing: Though Raikou wore his Raikage robes almost at all times out of respect for his successors, he was sometimes seen in casual clothing, though it was certainly a rarity. While in casual wear, however, he seemed to prefer comfort and style, not willing to trade one over the other. When caught in public, he was frequently seen wearing a black leather longcoat with an extended and folded collar. Underneath that, he typically wore a form-fitting shirt that was tinted similar to the night sky. As for leggings, he typically wore dark, straight-cut formal pants that allowed him to pop in and out of social gatherings without looking out of place in the slightest. Though his outfits were simplistic in nature, they always appeared clean and pressed, as well as respectable. Raikou wouldn't have it any other way.

Trademarks

  • Raikou made it a habit of entering and exiting areas by using a lightning-based space-time technique. In essence, it allowed him to spawn a lightning storm on the fly. A bolt would rain from the sky and strike him, allowing him to disappear and then re-appear in any country at any given time. This is theorized to be the reason why the Kumogakure Empire won the initial assaults on each village so easily.
  • Raikou possessed a scar that was dealt to him by the Hachibi when it had escaped and killed the Shichidaime Raikage. It runs down his jaw, all the way down across his throat.
  • Raikou was an avid summoner of the Oxen, and was noticeably on a first name basis with the head Ox, Borro. During the raid on the shinobi villages, it was no surprise to see Raikou on Boru's head, mowing down armies at a time. The two also managed to hold of the Hachibi with some strain several years prior.
  • Raikou's main elemental focus was Magnetism. He was particularly skilled in the element, as his impressive tactical mind allowed him to bend and twist objects to his will that many ninja would think was impossible.

Quotes

  • "Could I really surpass Kaizen someday…?”
  • "I'll do it…I'll become the next Raikage, just for you Kaizen, I'll fulfill your dreams…”
  • "For Kaizen…for Kari…I shall do anything to save Kumogakure no Sato…anything to save the world. I accept…”
  • "He who leads you people, come forth.”
  • "Peaceful…? What do you know of peace? I hear your claims, the resistance's claims, and yet all I see is death and destruction. Do you not understand why the world must be this way? Think back, hundreds and hundreds of years, when the mighty Rokudo had created ninjutsu. Never did the world see war until a struggle for power broke out between the newly crafted ninja. A ninja's existence is to kill, do not delude yourselves. You may beat around the bush all you like, but in the end, it is the inevitability of our duties that causes war. What would you do if I had surrendered? Returned to the way the world was? Waging war between countries on a yearly basis?”
  • "This is a warning, fellow shinobi, if you surrender, I shall promote each and every one of you to an elite member of the NCIA, so long as you surrender your allegiance to me, and to peace once and for all."
  • "Now now, Syaoran, I wouldn't speak for others, as you will also be forced to take responsibility for them as well.”
  • "I see words are meaningless to you who are deaf. Murderer of Rakurai and the people of the NCIA, approach me, Inabikari Raikou, Raikage of Kumogakure no Sato and Champion of Raijin!”
  • "You are underage, inexperienced, and outnumbered, whether you wish to acknowledge that or not. I had killed several sennin in my lifetime, all at the same time. One, broken Alchem will not be enough to end the perfect storm. Futile.”
Kaizen, Kari, and Raikou, ages 16

Trivia

General Knowledge Available to Public; IC
  • Raikou's original team consisted of a boy named Kaizen, whom was the son of the Raikage and his rival, and a girl named Kari, whom he loved, who's eyes were always on Kaizen instead. Kaizen was assassinated while the group was returning from a mission in Kirigakure, and a week or so later, Kari killed herself in he depression.
  • During Raikou's first mission to Kirigakure, the group stumbled upon a starving, five year old orphan named Momochi Rakurai. Unable to leave the child behind, the kid was brought back to Kumogakure. Eventually, Rakurai became a brother to Raikou, and the two fought side by side more times than anyone can count.
  • After Kumogakure no Sato lost power from the Hachibi's release, Raikou spent weeks and weeks acting as a battery for the village generators, staving off sleep and hunger for as long as he possibly could. Without this sacrifice, the village would have perished.
  • Raikou eventually had a son named Inabikari Kaizen, after his old teammate.
  • Raikou, having had direct contact with the gods, believe in the five Kami, Raijin, Fuujin, Amaterasu, Suijin, and Izanagi.
  • Raikou dumped a whole sewage system on Syaoran's head during the final battle. He secretly though it was hilarious.
  • Raikou managed to survive having his organs crushed, his arm loped off, his chest blown open and his eye sliced in half, frozen shuriken pinned straight through his flesh, a lightning induced heart attack, and his skin burned by oil and flames that turned him into a pleathery mess. Even still, the man refused to give up, and even managed to warn the Hachinin of the coming Armageddon before passing on.

Private Knowledge; OOC
  • Raikou was deceived by the Jashinists, which kick started the Kumogakure Invasion. Had they not interfered, the NCIA may have never existed in the first place. Only a handful of characters know this.
  • Had Raikou produced a daughter as well as a son, he would have named her Kari.
  • Raikou suffered frequent insomnia, having been haunted by all the shinobi he was forced to put to death.
  • Raikou was truly the Champion of Raijin, but due to him being deceived, Raijin deemed him unworthy to hold the title.
Raikou, had he managed to survive the final battle in Fang
Out of Game Knowledge; OOC
  • Raikou was not the original Raikage when the NCIA plot began. Originally Shizuki had created his own Raikage with different motivations and a past, but due to his personal life getting in the way, the NCIA continued without a Raikage for a good deal of time. It wasn't until two days prior to the final battle did staff begin creating a Raikage, which was thrown onto Eechi-go's shoulders as a last minute thing.
  • Raikou's name is NOT a reference to the pokemon. It's meaning is 'to invade', or 'to enter'. It is also a play on words, meaning something along the lines of 'Lightning Raid', which was the man's offensive style when he attacked each village, by appearing through lightning storms across the towns and destroying anything that stood in his path.
  • Had Raikou survived the final battle, NA would have been over, as there would have been no one left to challenge the man. Funnily enough, this would have brought about world peace. A false peace, but peace nonetheless.
