History

Kurono Renji was a Gennin; one with the belief that he will be able to follow the footsteps of a ninja from another village and become a genius of hardwork. A ninja without the ability to perform ninjutsu or genjutsu, Renji trained with ruthless abandon to be the taijutsu master. The world would recognize him as being the greatest fighter of all times in a village of masterful ninja... well, it was a plan.
What happened was simple; a career Gennin, easily forgotten among the swordsmen and assassins and the bloody mist. His career was so lackluster that he started to stop showing up; hoping his presence would be missed, but to no avail, not even his fellow Gennin searched for him. Cursing his fate, Renji looked for work and became a shop steward. Even when shinobi entered the shop, he was so easily forgotten that he took their orders. Years would go by in which he owned his own shop, gained a wife named Mai, and had a son which he called. Matsudo. Renji had plans for him, where he would fail, Renji would be triumphant. He would become a great shinobi, Kurono Matsudo would make the family name be heralded. Mai told her husband to abandon such ideals; understanding that their son would be great in anything which he chose, that he did not need to be a ninja, but Renji wouldn't see that as the path which they would follow.
Matsudo was intuitive, curious about the nature of things around him. He watched the seasons with enthusiasm along with the people going about their day. Being the son of a merchant made life easy, never a want for a meal or for items they may need. He wasn't spoiled, his father made sure of that. When it was time to work he helped, time to study he done so, then another time was upon him.
Renji watched as his son grew, every morning he would go on walks to finally running. The strenuous nature of Matsudo came with maturity, from manning the counter and the practice of money, then he started to perform the heavy chores to build up his muscles. Renji started to teach his son the basics of fighting, but he waited to see if his son also didn't have any talents in the ninja arts. He felt in his heart his son would surpass him, would be able to use ninjutsu and genjutsu. Once a week he would give him a lesson on chakra to see if it stuck, only to the irritation of nothing coming to pass. The impatience became unbearable.
As his son got older day by day, the father worried that their opportunity was slipping away as well. Over the years, Renji made contacts with many historians, researchers, and those on the black market. If his son was to have a chance, he would have them place a bloodline within his to save it. Matsudo would be blessed and his plans for his son would be saved. There were heavy costs associated with well known bloodlines, some even came with a warning of becoming considered a missing nin and hounded by enemy villages... but there was this one which they said was excessively strong, and would even allow the recipient to become somewhat of an immortal. The idea of such a bloodline was seen as providence; he will have such a one. The only drawback being that the cost was insane; it would take all of their ryo, their business, all for the ritual. Renji made the promises, told them to get it ready, and went to retrieve his son.
Mai was against this; she believed that Matsudo should be able to choose his path. He was gifted in many ways. Their son was skilled in business, he picked up the fighting stances from his father quickly, he had a hunger for knowledge, sopping it up as bread to soup. He was growing into their handsome and kind child. She did not want that to be removed. If he was not skilled to be a ninja, fine, he could be what he chose to be. Her pleas fell on deaf ears, not knowing how far his obsession moved him away.
Matsudo was enjoying the weather while reading a scroll given by his mother when Renji pounced upon him, placing a rag over his face to render him unconscious and rushed him to the rendezvous site. His mother fearing the worst sought an audience with the police in order to stop the insanity of her husband. But what exactly to tell them? Mai didn't know her husband's contacts, or where he was going, who was he dealing with. All she could tell them was her husband kidnap their son to become a superior ninja by some special doctor. Her report, although credible, still raised the eyebrows of the authorities as close to unbelievable. By the time that the first word of their investigation came back, her husband and son were missing for a week.
Renji, promising the pay for services rendered instead murdered the physician after the bloodline was transplanted and Matsudo placed in a tank during the incubation period. Renji watched as Matsudo struggled and shrieked silently in pain; the bubbles from his mouth escaping as his lungs became saturated. He watched as the capillaries in his eyes burst and then altogether they changed color and shape. He bare witness to his son, whose love of life and everything around him turned into a steady gaze of betrayal, his face becoming lifeless and blank. The cords and muscles raced under the skin in its various formations. When it was over and the liquid drained from the tank, there laid the body of Renji, asleep and elongated, his hair mated to his body yet, every once in awhile lifting up and moving to another position.
Matsudo, the handsome little boy had the appearance of thread being stitched haphazardly, like a small cushioned doll. His clear dark eyes were replaced with red eyes. Although her son was not in any pain, he also didn't look at her as he once did. The love in his eyes was replaced with a detached observance. The authorities burst into the compound which masqueraded as a farm and apprehended all of its inhabitants.

Renji didn't respond to their interrogation; only saying that his actions, although done against his son's will was to make him stronger. Matsudo also didn't respond to questioning; having been through the ordeal, it took awhile to not only find his voice, but to also find sustenance which he was able to keep down. The only things which he could eat warm was ramen, but all meats and fish needed to be raw for his digestive system. He didn't want to see his mother, who observed him from a distance and broke down in sorrow, hours later, she committed suicide by walking into the river near their home.
Once he was strong enough, Matsudo wanted to confront his father, but decided not to. There was really nothing there to discuss. The last time he recognized his father was when he was in the chamber of liquids which turned him into his current monstrous form. The last thought of which he held for that man was betrayal and contempt. Since his mother was no longer of this existence, there was no further ties with the man, with his name... so he adopted a new name; one formed from the first name of an character in a movie and the other he remembered from his cup: Yataka Shuya
Shuya went to the academy, learning all which he had to yet staying distant from his classmates. When he looked at them, he was conflicted. For one, they were his classmates, his prospective teammates. On the other he felt an emptiness inside, a space within him which wanted to take their vital muscle for his own and make him stronger. For the most part he maintained his silence, practicing his taijutsu while learning to control the use of his tendrils. Extensive usage of them broke through his skin, to the point which the flesh wouldn't heal properly or simply became a patchwork of flesh with stitches for the tendrils to come out easier. He also learned that his father's fears were also in vain; he did have a knack for ninjutsu, although it was only of the lightning element. But he was also well attuned to the ways of Genjutsu. All attempts to learn another element failed him. It wasn't until he went to the library and studied the progenitor of his acquired bloodline that there was a cost to learning all which he wanted, and to become stronger... he only needed the heart to do it.
