Casual: Since her suspension Asuka has little in terms of fashion sense or appropriate attire, leading her to choose the simplest clothes when possible. When in Kumogakure or otherwise not on duty she dresses in shifts, sundresses and loose shirts and sandals. Whether because of her heritage or another skill, Asuka thrives in colder climates and enjoys the clarity of sensation brought on by low temperatures. Her mother constantly encourages her to experiment with different looks, if only to get her out of what looks like yet another hospital gown.

Mission: When assigned to a mission Asuka wears a skintight black unitard underneath her standard clothes and regulation uniform. It is also her preferred combat attire, save for the hitai-ate she wears lengthwise on the outside of her left bicep. Some might consider her choice of attire somewhat revealing, but at this point Asuka has neither recovered enough of her sense of modesty and decorum to care, nor grown enough to have anything be revealed. In addition to this extra layer she also ties her hair up into a single short tail, though parts frequently break away under the effects of her elemental manipulation.

Physical Description: From the outside, Asuka looks younger than her fourteen years. Medical ninja and hospital staff that have studied her condition after her experimental seal treatment have suggested that the seal has somehow affected her transition into puberty, drastically slowing her growth to full adulthood. Regardless of the cause Asuka is a short, light, thin girl appearing almost waif-like from consuming only the bare minimum of food to sustain her lifestyle. Her hair is a blue so light it is often mistaken for snow-white, falling straight from her scalp in a light, thin wave. Aside from the small surgical scar beneath her hair at the rear of her head she possesses no defining features, marks or scars from her time in Kumogakure’s service. Much like her physical form her posture and body language is delicate, enhancing the impression that she is frail, soft and petite. To an inexpert observer Asuka looks completely unsuited to the harsh, physically rigorous and mentally demanding life of a ninja.

While never described as an energetic or overemotional young girl, since her sealing and subsequent medical suspension she has been especially quiet, passive and submissive. Her expression is by default an apathetic and cool gaze, mouth tending naturally to a bland frown. She frequently yawns, stretches and rolls her joints as if just waking from a deep sleep; despite these indicators she frequently looks tired with heavy eyelids and complete lack of passive movement like fidgets, twitches or gestures.

History

Born into the Yotsuki Clan of Kumogakure, Asuka’s earliest days were spent tethered to her father’s back on the slopes of Kumogakure’s mountain ranges. Her love for the outdoors was cemented early, as was her place as the baby sister of the family. Her older brother and sister, both more than ten years older, doted on her and all five members of the family were extremely close. Her siblings, both ninja in service to the village, were frequently away from home but always took care to bring their baby sister back a souvenir from their travels whenever possible. Her mother was a civilian, her father a notary for Kumogakure’s financial sector. Because of her siblings, Asuka always wanted to become a ninja and travel the world on her missions, and her parents were happy for her to follow Seiichi and Hoshi’s example.

Shortly before her fifth birthday her siblings tried to teach her the basics of her chakra and how to use it, considering her plan to enter the academy on her sixth birthday. What they could, and what was later confirmed by the village’s medic-nin, was that Asuka’s chakra coils had been damaged during birth. The defect was random and unpredictable, the result of a one-in-a-thousand twist at the wrong time. Although they remained functional, her chakra could not be moulded through conventional hand-seals. Though devastated by the diagnosis, Asuka was determined to become a ninja nonetheless and applied her efforts to Taijutsu, hoping to emulate famous shinobi like Maito Guy and Rock Lee. Unfortunatrly, her body was not strong enough and she was on the verge of failing out of the Academy completely. In order to avoid dropping out, Asuka volunteered for an experimental fuuinjutsu procedure that solved the problem, but had an adverse effect on her emotional processing. Although her newfound control over her chakra allowed her to graduate the Academy with ease, she was immediately placed on indefinite medical leave while the village’s medic-nin studied her unique condition.

Years of research passed, with no way to reverse the damage the seal had caused. However, despite the neural scarring, Asuka’s mind began to grow around the damage, finding other pathways and relearning how to experience and deal with emotions. Six years after her suspension, the village administration has lifted her leave and allowed her to enter the field alongside her fellow ninja.
