Clan Culture
"You can't rule the Namikaze. You just make sensible suggestions they want to follow." - Hisame Reika, remarking on his experience with the clan.
While initially a unified clan that hailed from the easter oceans, time and geography has spread the clan across many of the shinobi nations. The Namikaze have been wanderers since the destruction of their ancestral home, and as such, can be found in many different places all over the world. However they are most prominently located in Mizu no Kuni, Hi no Kuni, and Denchi no Kuni.
Regardless of the ancient separation, the Namikaze still value their Clan’s roots and common heritage. Namikaze will welcome any of their distance relations regardless of the country of origin, and can easily unite to support each other if necessary. Colloquially, Namikaze will refer to any of their clansman’s as “cousins”, even if the exact genetic relation is unknown.
Mizu no Kuni
As one of the founding Clans of Kirigaure no Sato and the nation of Mizu no Kuni as we know it today, the Namikaze of Kirigakure have a long history within the Country of Water. It was Namikaze Bodaiju who eventually united the warring Clans under one banner and served as Shodai of the Village, as well as helped form the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist.
Still holding onto their adventurous roots, Kirian Namikaze are known to have a restless energy. As of the descendants of the Namikaze who sought vengeance against the invaders of their homeland, these Namikaze have a tendency to be a bit more aggressive than their foreign relations. They value independence and autonomy, and are ready and willing to defend any location they consider their home. Kirian Namikaze stray away from self-appointed titles, epithets, or other designations or rank they consider "needless" or "excessive". While they are willing to accept nicknames or monikers that others may call them, they show a sort of amused disregard to fancy titles that other Clans or powerful Shinobi enjoy calling themselves by.
While Kirian Namikaze show a greater willingness to work together then some of the other Great Clans, and rarely instigate any of the conflicts the Village and Country is notorious for, they are willing and able to fight if necessary.
Hi no Kuni
The Namikaze of Hi no Kuni originate from the Namikaze that wished to find a new home in peace instead of hunting down the ones responsible for their ancestral home’s destruction. Traditionally calmer than their Kirian relatives, the Namikaze of Konoha show more solidarity with their Village, serving as strong foundation and constant source of support throughout the various wars. While all Namikaze appreciate art and creation, this is especially true for Konoha Namikaze who utilize their skills to produce items for the betterment of the village. This dates back to the first Shinobi War where they helped to provide armaments to the Senju, and would continue throughout the subsequent years.
The Namikaze of Konoha are known by most for being the Clan that produced that Fourth Namikaze, Namikaze Minato and his son, Uzumaki Naruto.
Denchi no Kuni
The Namikaze Clan’s presence in Denchi no Kuni is fairly recent, originating when Namikaze Raizen and his future wife, Namikaze Haruka settled there and eventually started a family. While small in numbers, Denchi no Kuni is the birthplace of their son, Kinsen “Raz” Rasen who is now hailed as a leader of the Resistance and one of the Eight Ninja responsible for bringing down the Raikage and the Kumogakure Empire.
Naming Conventions
Unlike many great Clans, the Namikaze do not pass on names from parent to child. Traditionally, it was considered bad luck to name a child after a relative, especially if their intended namesake was already deceased. It was far more likely for the parents to derive names as alterations of their own or other close family members. A notable example of this is Namikaze 'Raz' Rasen, whose first name is phonetically similar to that of his father, Raizen. However, this is by no means a given, and often times names between close family members bear little to no relation to each other.
The Namikaze often pulled inspiration from their environment, favoring names that had their etymological roots in words such as wind, water, and waves regardless of the native language [such as Glacium]. Others chose names simple because they like the way it sounds, which has resulted in some extremely unorthodox results.
Religious Beliefs
Namikaze religious beliefs have a tendency to be a bit more primal, closer to nature worship than actual gods. Like many parts of Namikaze culture there is little formality to it, outside of a certain amount of reverence and appreciation for the world around them. This holds true for many rites of life, including birth, marriage, and death. Marriage ceremonies are extremely brief, and all that is generally required of the couple is the exchanging of some sort of token, traditionally handmade. While in modern days this is most likely a ring, or other piece of jewelry, it can be any physical object from instruments, trinkets, or even weapons as long as it was crafted by their hand.
Appearance

♦ Eyes ♦ The Namikaze eyes tended to be on the "cool" side, with shades of green, blue and anything in between being the most common. Shades of purple are perhaps more likely than in other Clans, though still not a common hue. Heterochromia it a fairly common trait, though the rarest physical sign associated with the Namikaze is a distinct spiral coloration.
♦ Hair ♦ Blondes and various shades of red are the most common colors, though darker shades such as auburn or golden brown were not unheard of. Dark brown, or black are not naturally occurring in full blood Namikaze. Their hair is also characteristically messy, thick and unruly regardless of the length, and prone to extreme spikiness if kept short.
♦ Body Type ♦ Namikaze are generally above average height, with most males reaching at least six feet in height, women a few inches shorter. They also have a tendency to slimmer builds, more lean than stocky, with long, streamlined limbs. Their skin is susceptible to tanning, and any moderate amount of sun exposure generally leads to at least a golden hue.
Clan Politics
Inner Village
Kirigakure no Sato
As one of the founding Clans of Kirigakure no Sato and the clan to which the Shodai Mizukage belonged, the Kirian Namikaze have long had influence in Village politics. Though they rarely took blatant advantage of their assumed power, they were given a certain amount of autonomy when managing their affairs and governing the members of their clan without interference, and always had a say in Village politics. Historically they held one of the seven spots of the Kirigakure Council (alongside the other great clans) and many of the Village's relics come from Namikaze origins (such as Hiramekarei and the Shodai's pearl).
Recent history has caused a sharp decline in both the prestige and power that the Namikaze once held. The massacre of the greater portion of the Clan during the reign of the NCIA left only a few dozen survivors in Mizu no Kuni, and Namikaze Inukai's actions during the G.E.R.T exams resulted in the Namikaze being removed from the Village Council. While many of the remaining Namikaze care little for the games of power that the other Great Clans use to gain further influence over the Village, others are unhappy with the efforts that Mizukage Warrusu has taken to punish the Clan due to the actions of an individual member.

Clan Leadership
Clan Leadership among the Namikaze is generally a lose affair. Both men and women are capable of holding the title of "Clan Head", and any adult has a say in Clan matters. The role of Clan Head was not hereditary, and any member could could be elected to the position. As a result, there are no "main" or "branch" families, and if there is not a pressing need for central leadership the clan may forgo appointing an official head in the event that a previous leader died or stepped down.
