Personality
Kozakura is a matter of fact sort of person, who tends to avoid wearing her feelings on her face. She is polite and cordial, but far from warm. Helpful and accommodating, but none would describe her as kind. Brought up among both criminals and shrewd businessmen, she is willing to be both brutal and unmerciful when the time calls for it, but is generally averse to violence.
Tending to view most of life as a business transaction, Kozakura is pragmatic to a fault. She has become accustomed to removing both passion and emotion from most situations, finding them to be bothersome and unneeded. If one were to ask the young woman for her opinion on what quality in others she most admires, she would not hesitate in describing a clear and objective mind. The capability to stay calm and collected in even the most stressful of situations is possibly the woman’s greatest talent.
Bearing a narcissistic streak, it is easy to conclude that below the stone-faced surface there lies a vapid and shallow little girl. However, Kozakura is cunning and this impression is one she works hard to cultivate. Only those who are close are allowed to see what truly lays beneath, though protecting that inner self is not a matter of sensitivity. It is purely a strategic action.
To say that Kozakura is not a family woman, though, would be a mistake. While she recognizes the need for sacrifices in order to preserve the greater good, she is fiercely loyal to her immediate family and loves her parents and sister dearly.
History
Kozakura grew up in the noble family of Ōshiro, the daughter of an immigrant huntress and a ruthless business man and Duke. She was born as a twin, though earlier by ten minutes, and has spent most of her waking moments in the years since trying to compensate for her younger sister’s… trying presence. Though they held little political sway, the House of Ōshiro had coffers deep enough to carve out a lavished lifestyle, even in the toughest of times. This, no doubt, contributed to the petulant attitude of the second Ōshiro daughter.
Early life was mostly civilian, though Kozakura’s mother would often stress the importance of keeping a sharp knife in one’s purse. Her daughters may have enjoyed the protection of bodyguards, but the woman would not entertain the idea of raising, as she called it, “helpless kittens.” From her formative years, Kozakura was told that she would one day be a fine warrior like her mother. However, it was not until the NCIA was stripped away that the woman’s dream became a reality. Even the tempestuous Oboro, with all her skill and the watchful eye of her husband’s guard, did not dare tempt the ire of the regime.
Before the military coup, the family had lived on the sprawling Ōshiro compound in Denchi no Kuni. However, the country’s small size made the clan head, Anazeru, quite nervous. He feared that his wife, previously a shinobi, would be discovered. In the final years of the regime they moved to the family’s vacation home in the coastal city of Arrakis. It was a decision Anazeru now openly regrets, as his wife became taken with the warm climate of Arrakis and somehow managed to convince her husband to let her and their daughters stay in Kaze no Kuni permanently.
Following the fall of the NCIA, Kozakura and her twin were enrolled in the Academy in Sunagakure. Their mother moved with them, while Anazeru stayed behind to tend to his trade business. The two girls stuck close together, mostly because Kozakura always felt the need to be on hand to stop Shiori from running her mouth, and graduated with the rest of their class. Both were noted to have been stealthy, and skilful at creating poisons like their mother. Kozakura, though, was studious and payed keen attention to history. She was taken by rumours of a great and powerful tome stored in the Ōshiro family weapons cache and began to study both the arts of Ninjutsu and Genjutsu in order to one day become worthy of its might.
An heiress, though, is often beholden to the will of others. Seeking to craft a well-managed future for his business and family, Anazeru whisked Kozakura back to Otogakure so that she might be groomed as the new matriarch of the Ōshiro. His fortunes supplied her with both an education – notably economics and geopolitics – and a new nose. He may have been moved from his previous old world beliefs, but the man still held a few… vexing opinions. Namely that a woman’s sway in the world was only as great as her beauty.
For now, Kozakura splits her time between attending her duties for the family and fulfilling missions for the Hidden Sand in the village and the surrounding country side. Her father’s wishes have held her back in the shinobi world and she has fallen behind her classmates – some are now Chuunin, including Shiori – but Kozakura is determined to be successful in both her civilian and shinobi lives.
