The Kyoukage, The Sound Shadow

The Kyoukage, or 'Sound Shadow', is is the title which the singular primary leader of the Country of Rice Fields's Hidden Shinobi Village -Otogakure no Sato- bears. It follows the tradition of the leaders of every village being referred to as the most important element to the village, and 'Shadow' at the end, which fits perfectly well with the shinobi-nin of Otogakure, whom utilize sound to such a degree that the Kyoukage title should not be used in any other village, or go unused in Otogakure no Sato.

Political Standing

The Kyoukage is quite likely the most powerful title in the small country in which he resides. Because of Denchi no Kuni is so small and slightly less developed than its larger neighbors, the Daimyo of the country tend to respect the Kyoukage as their superior. This is not only because Otoagakure no Sato happens to be the capital of the entire country, but also the seat of military might. Of course, given the state of the city itself the title may or may not be a good thing.

Tradition and the Kyoukage

Traditionally, the Kyoukage is to be referred to as 'Kyoukage-sama' or '<Insert Number>daime Kyoukage-sama'. Even after a person is 'active' Kyoukage, they are referred to as such, by most people. Likewise, in their death, they are referred to by their title, except by family, (Some) admirers, or loved ones.
