Nara Arashi is a proud Jounin of Konohagakure no Sato. He has on numerous occasions traveled with the Hokage as as personal guard. He is also one of the few people within the village to have learned and mastered the Rasengan.

Personality

Arashi greew up as a lazy boy, spending a lot of time sleeping and dreaming. His laid back attidue made it wasy to be silly and goof off, but he always carried with him a sense of honor and a hear of goal. Arashi was always a ninja to do the right thing. As he got older, through traumatic events he had become a little more hardened and borderline obsessive but still kept the sleepy eyed boy in his core. Arashi has grown to turn a lot of that laid-backness into humor and disregard for traditional norms. That being the case, sometimes he can come off as aloof and hollow.

Biography

Arashi lived a completely normal childhood up until he joined the ninja academy, living with his mother, father, and younger sister. His father was a prominent Jounin and one of the top members of the Nara clan within the village. During his time in the academy though, a team of Nara ninja were ambushed outside the village by a squad of unknown ninja. With the element of surprise, the attackers mortally wounded Arashi's father before they were driven off. His father and two other members of the clan would not make it back to the village alive. After this incident Arashi went from an outgoing and happy individual to a recluse, taking to wearing a face mask from his father to hide his features. He lost his friends in the academy as he isolated himself, letting his grades fall and barely passing with enough marks to clear the final tests. Despite his poor marks, Arashi was a prodigy in Ninjutsu and Genjutsu and even if he did not take interest in his lessons he vowed to one day be a great ninja like his mother and father.

After his time in the academy, Arashi was placed in a team lead by a jounin named Nekura along with two other shinobi his age from the Hyuuga and Uchiha clans. Even with being from a great clan like the Nara, it was hard to not feel small in comparison to those two names. But the young Arashi was not discouraged, if anything it drove him to train harder and surpass both as they worked as a four man team. In their first spars as a team, Arashi was able to surprisingly upset his Hyuuga teammate, winning the spar despite the other boys raw power advantage.

In the months to come the team would grow together. They traveled far and wide and eventually were allowed to take small missions without the supervision of Nekura. On one such journey they came across a man who claimed to be an Uchiha Tsunami. Arashi's teammate didn't believe him at first, having never come across the man, but when he activated the Sharingan there was no doubt in their mind. The man had a mission for the team but needed to assess their skills first. They started a spar, with Arashi going first and losing in only a few moves and injuring his arm. What followed next was a two versus one spar with Arashi's teammates. Unfortunately, when the combat began it became clear that this Tsunami was actually an assassin after the Hyuuga's eyes. Arashi and his Uchiha teammate tried to stop him, but the Uchiha was killed while Arashi was knocked unconscious. When the young Nara boy came too he would find that both of his teammates had been killed, their bloodlines stolen. Likely the only reason Arashi was left alive was due to his lack of such a valuable asset.

Following this incident Arashi was put on another team but took time to recover. He continued to take missions, but he was not all there. During this time there was an attack on Konoha that Arashi was present for and fought in, as well as a Chuunin Exams in which he participated. Though he thought he had done well, he was not promoted following the event and his weak presence was noted as the key factor. This sparked a small fire in Arashi, and he started to travel. First he ventured to Kirigakure no Sato on an escort mission, seeing more of the world and successfully returning with more knowledge of life outside his country. This venture brought him to the attention of the Juuichidaime Hokage Amanohara Konpeki. Under the Hokage's tutelage Arashi was able to master the first iteration of the legendary Rasengan. During this time of training he also incidentally saved the life of Uchiha Kaosu, a young genin like himself. It was through this friendship that Arashi would learn of Uchiha Mizujin, another young Uchiha that Kaosu had an intense rivalry with. Little did Arashi expect, Mizujin had a connect with a man named Tsunami. This caused Arashi to go off the deep end, investigating Mizujin and his connections to learn more of this Tsunami and find if it was the same that had slain his friends. This investigation brought Arashi to Kirigakure once more, in which he found more clues that lead him to Sunagakure no Sato on his chase for the truth. While in Sunagakure no Sato, Arashi learned the ways of Wind and Sand Ninjutsu, picking up skills as he tracked down the connections he looked for. Unfortunately, on his return to Konoha he found that his close friend Kaosu had been murdered under mysterious circumstances while on a mission. Arashi felt he knew who had killed him, but without proof he could not gain the ear of any of the officials of the village. This drove him back into the darkness of his own mind, and he was relentless to find a connection that would prove Mizujin to be guilty of the crime. But he was at the end of his leads, and no matter how much he searched he could not find a connection.

In the coming months he would eventually fine himself promoted to the rank of Chuunin despite his absence of mind. In fact, he would later realize that his Genin and Chuunin promotions had come when his mind was at its weakest, something he jokes about now. It was during this time that the Kumogakure Empire attacked. Arashi aided the Resistance, following under the former Hokage Sarutobi Mari who was the first person that rallied the Nara to the cause and the former teacher of Konpeki, a man he had great respect for. During this time Mizujin and the mysterious Tsunami disappeared without a trace. Hoping to locate Mizujin and to aid in the resistance, Arashi followed the rebellion band led by the Hokage Ryuuza Chouzou to the Eastern Oceans for training and to make decisive strike against the empire. At this time, Arashi became friends and allies with some of Konoha's current top brass including Hyuuga Yatako and Nepan Shin. Uchiha Hiruki was one among the resistance as well and Arashi had hoped to garnish any information about his cousin's whereabouts as much as he could. During this mission, the group had navigate through a labaryth and found themselves at a crossroads. Arashi was one of the few that chose the wrong door and for this event, his fate was supposed to be death. One of the group, Hyuuga Azumi had also chosen poorly and was killed by one of the guardians of the Unknown Ruins, giving Arashi a chance to escape. After finding his way through the ruins, Arashi had fought his way against Kumogakaure forces in order to flee, suffering nearly dire wounds. After his escape, the Nara would make his way back towards Konoha, but carried with him the shame of falling behind. To rectify this, Arashi vowed to recover and aid the resistance in other methods, turning to subterfuge and reconnaissance for when the resistance came back an enacted Chouzou's Charge. Arashi began to find a passion in teaching after training two brothers to fight for the resistance: Morimata Momotai and Morimata Aito. Because of the work in the resistance and the inability to move as he once did, Arashi was unable to locate or search for the murders of his friends. He would find that day by day, as he lived among the resistance and others, that he felt that it mattered less and less. His mind was healing and though he wished vengeance for his fallen comrades, he slowly accepted their ends and even his fathers which had been a cloud over him for many years. And as such, Arashi persisted through the two years of the war and was present when Konohagakure was freed of NCIA rule during the Crimson Dawn operation. But even with the end of the war there was no sign of Mizujin or the mysterious Tsunami.

Five years would pass, and in that time Nara Arashi would overcome his obsession with his past and start to excel at life as a ninja. At the age of twenty he was promoted to Jounin rank, serving in the ANBU for a short while before taking more mundane missions. He found the trust of the new Hokage Hyuuga Yatako, a man who reminded him of fond memories at the start of his career. He lived a relatively peaceful life until the summer of 2115 when Uchiha Mizujin reappeared to the world. At first Arashi was shocked when he heard that the man had returned to the village, a sort of prodigal son of the Uchiha clan whom had thought he had been lost with so many in the war and hunting of ninja. At first Arashi held back his content, using the wisdom he had gained with age to temper his anger. After all, he still had no proof that Mizujin was involved in either incidents or what his connection to the elusive Tsunami was. He would eventually confide in the Hokage, but without any proof there was nothing to be done. Arresting an Uchiha on suspicions alone would not do well for the village, especially if done by the first Hyuuga to hold the office of Hokage. To make matters worse, Mizujin had gathered favor within his clan and was held in high esteem. So Arashi held his temper, crafting it like steel in a forge, waiting for the day in which he could find his proof and really discover what happened all those years ago. Despite several attempts at naming Arashi a Sennin of Konohagakure, the Nara turned down each promotion and instead chose to remain as a humble Jounin although many people in the village regard him as greater.
