Clothing:
Mairah's clothing consist of a similar and sometimes same outfit design on a daily basis. Most often she will don a short-sleeved red tunic, with a gold-yellow collar striped can be seen stitched and layered beneath a symmetrical patter of stripes: a black stripe which runs around the collar area and down the middle of the tunic and completed by a yellow stripe which outlines the center-black stripe. The tunic is held together by several red ribbons equally spaced out, with the last ribbon placed where the tunic ends (at the knees). The sleeves have been removed, causing the tunic to be short sleeved; in addition, the back of the tunic is left open but attached at the top and the back of the waist. She often wears red finger-less gloves on her hands. Her shoe ware has changed consisting of grey combat boots. A gray sash with a zig-zag line imprinted on it can be seen wrapped around her waist, implying that her outfit is held together by this sash. Most often she can also be found a book tied to the back of her hip, a yellow collar with a single red dot in the middle, and various trinkets. It should also be noted that a yellow ribbon is tied to her right sleeve and the Otogakure Hitai-ate is tied on her left sleeve.
Appearance
Unlike the majority of females she knows, Mairah falls on the shorter end of the height scale standing at five foot and an inch. Her lack of height is oddly complemented by her slim physique. However, the girl's skin color is darkened, due to the coagulated blood. Her physique and height combined with her occasionally cat-like smile have led to her being called 'adorable' or 'she's like a cat', by others who she surrounds herself with. Although normally hidden from view, on the back of her left shoulder, a tattoo can be found. The tattoo itself contains several stars in different alignments, however most notable design is a four-point star layered on top of a circle, which is layered on an eight-point star. A single sword blade points downwar
History
Chapter 1 - Blessing Of The Mind
The world, despite all its tragedy, is filled with blessings. With each death comes a new life and as such, the circle of our existence continues. It was on a rainy day in the mid-afternoon, where the Ueshi family experienced the death of their oldest member, yet they also witnessed the birth of their youngest one. Wrapped in a sheet of red was the youngest child of Ueshi Nana and Ueshi Leto and they named her Mairah. In their darkest hour, Mairah had become a blessing to the family and hope that their name would be carried out into the future.
In the beginning of her life, Mairah was treated as any normal child was. A toddler of boundless curiosity, it was often that the girl picked up anything that she could to see what the object did. The majority of her time was spent on her dad's lap, listening to the stories he would tell of growing up or even the children's book he read to her. To Nana and Leto, they were sure that she would grow to be a normal child, however their assumption was proven incorrect. It was around the age of three, where Mairah showed her abilities by learning how to read children's books without instruction. Though her parents shrugged it off as their child having capabilities slightly above average, Mairah would excel far beyond their imaginations.
Mairah spent the majority of her early years within the confines of her father's study, listening to him as he lectured about the inner workings of chakra and as he told her stories of discovery. She had learned handseals by the age of four and capable of performing basic academy jutsus within a week. As she aged, she began to spend more time within her father's study attempting to preform techniques he had shown her and developing her ability to control it. Though she was still at a young age, she spent many nights attempting to understand the basics of chakra-based research. Unaware that her life would be changed within a few years.
Chapter 2 - The Book of Fate
The order from the Raikage had been issued and as such, on the year of her 6th birthday, Kumogakure no Sato had conquered Otogakure No Sato and the remaining shinobi villages. The world shifted into a new era, one that would be known as the 'Kumogakure Empire'. At the time the new reign of power had no influence on her, since she had mostly remained oblivious to events taking place outside of her home. Trapped within the confines of knowledge, her aspirations to learn more about chakra, techniques, and technology had led her to become a recluse. The war had not taken anything from her at the moment and for that, there was no reason to care about the change in power.
It was in the mid-part of her eight year, where she awoke and found that her bubble which she had confined herself into had been shattered. Within the study her father was nowhere to be found and inside the house, only her mother and younger sister remained. It was a shocking news that had caused her to notice the world outside: her father and brother were not coming home. Both were members of an organization known as V.A.K (Vocals against Kumo) and due to the failed rebellion, they had fled the country to locations unknown. The man she admired and had taught her so much was no longer returning and as she stared at the cabinet of books, the world seemed to darken around her.
Without her father to constantly read and teach her what she wanted to know about the world, Mairah was left to her own devices. Fate, however, had other plans for her as the knowledge she possessed was sought out by those in charge of the current occupation of Otogakure. The outside world had once again decided to influence her life and soon she found herself within the shinobi academy.
"The academy? I have to interact with people?! I might as well die."
The toll of losing her father and brother and being dragged into the academy those in charge of the occupation of Otogakure, had sunk deep within the girl. During the three years she spent at the academy, her mother often remarked at her quiet disposition and confinement, keeping to her studies and books she had borrowed from the academy instructors. Despite her distaste of the academy, it had granted her with access to information and knowledge she never would have found at home. Her proficiency in ninjutsu had turned several of her instructors attention towards her and her skill and knowledge allowed her to exceed through the academy, despite her lack of proficiency in the physical aspects of a shinobi. It was in the middle of her academy training, where her mother would see a change in the girl and the world Mairah once knew, would shift once more.
Chapter 3 - The Page Has Turned
The fall of the Kumogakure Empire had brought a shift within in the world, once more allowing for countries to return back to their original states. Otogakure had seen the death of Urseal Li and with that, the return of heroes that would become celebrities with or without their consent. Once in particular had caught the interest of Mairah, a man by the name of Cho Hakkai. The man himself was gorgeous, however, one detail in particular had aroused her curiosity and interest. She had heard rumors from those in the streets that he was a scholar, one who had traveled the world and gained knowledge of elements and techniques many have dreamed of. How could a simple girl from a no-named family be able to meet and learn from a shinobi like that? It was clear to Mairah, that she had to continue her study and become a 'scholar'.
The remainder of her life at the academy was spent within her studies, inventions, and books. Though she attended the majority of her classes, she spent many days with the few researches in Otogakure. The path of knowledge and invention was clear and by the end of her academy training, she had already begun research of her own. It was an idea based on her studies of chakra and technology she had read and learned about from others; chakra-based technology. Machines or pieces of technology that could produce their own source of chakra, contain, and even be able to restore it. Her father's study had become her living quarters and many nights, she could be found in the room with various drawings, maps, and books scattered about.
The world had shifted into a new era with the fall of the Kumogakure Empire and the new era had brought in familiar faces, which she had placed away in the back of her mind. It was on a cold night during winter as she stared at the dimly-lit latern only to hear a knock at the door of the room. A mixture of feelings ran through Mairah's heart, however, one thing was clear, her father had returned home. It was clear from his demeanor that, the war had changed the man. He lacked the academic curiosity that he once had, seeking to spend time with his family. It was one night where Mairah had chosen to ask her father about the war and she was told countless stories of the war. He told her about the moralities of humanity, the deaths of many of his comrades, the technology that he had seen, and the images engraved in his cerebrum. It was through this where she learned that her brother had remained in Iwagakure to aid in the rebuilding of the country. On the same night he had asked her about how she had spent the past few years and as she responded, he laid a hand on her head and for the first time since he arrived back home, smiled.
"Keep on this path Mairah and don't stop. I'm sorry for the pain I put you through."
Those were the last words her father had said to her, before he departed towards Iwagakure. That night had engraved itself deep within her mind as tears streamed down her face for the first time in several years. By the next day her tears had dried up and she found herself with a greater motivation to continue down the path to become a 'scholar'. Mairah remarked that her mother and sister had their spirits uplifted, which gave her the comfort she needed to deal with her father leaving. With her spirits uplifted, the Ueshi girl spent the next two years continuing her research and proceeded to learn more about the world around her. It was a few months after her fourteenth birthday where Mairah considered the option to continue the career of a shinobi. It would allow her access to more information about technology and on occasion, be able to travel the world and see the wonders that it had to offer. With the thought in her mind, she accepted the Otogakure headband and prepared herself for the dialogues to come.
