Konohagakure Ansatsu Senjutsu Tokushu Butai
ANBU (Special Assassination and Tactical Squad) are the elite ninja of Konohagakure no Sato who sacrifice themselves, their identity and any public persona for their village. They are usually the highest ninja rank in the village just under the Hokage. They report directly to the Hokage and their job is to serve only that individual. When they are seen, they are hidden behind zodiac masks and are outfitted for any situation. They are hand picked, but are usually given an initiation ritual whereby their skills are tested and their mask is formed. Not all Jounin are destination to join ANBU nor is it viewed as a failure if one never joins.

About
ANBU protect the village from exceptional threats, conduct high-risk missions into enemy countries, and deal with extremely strong (S-Rank) ninja. They are also responsible for carrying out assassinations and missions requiring specially trained ninja. Unique for most characters, most ANBU keep with them a personal choice of weapon. The ANBU is an organization that serves under the direct command of their Kage. Like ordinary shinobi, ANBU members operate in squads of four; three ANBU members and a squad captain. ANBU are usually chosen at the Chunin rank and progress their way up to ANBU Captain. Captains are typically ninja at Jounin level in assassination and advanced tactics.
The ANBU, as they are most commonly known as, are the elite corps of Konoha. Constructed of extremely well-knit teams, boasting prowess in a variety of different skills, they are the main force within Konoha's ranks. Highly skilled individually, the battalions of the ANBU have proven time and time again to be extremely effective, often times taking up the most dangerous of missions for the village.
ANBU personnel are also highly exclusive. The best and brightest in the village are taken, and still only a handful are ever chosen for enrollment onto the ANBU track. Some families have close ties with the organization, and thus fit their children into a regiment that best befits what they seek. But those who are seen as exceptionally gifted, usually bearing enormous potential, often find themselves set up for the ANBU career far before they even hear about it. This is because the ANBU keeps a close eye on those in the Academy, picking up on whether or not a candidate is capable of the training-methods and missions of the organization. Also to be noted, they are the main push back group during invasions, they themselves being defenders. Time and time again, they proved to be extremely effective in enacting plans of evacuation and counterattack. Not to be underestimated, the ANBU are the Elite of Konoha, feared by all.
History
The cream of the crop, the best of the best, Konohas Assassination Tactics Special Force; The ANBU vanished from the lives of those who cherished their existence and hoped to no end, that of all people, they would be there to protect them. The ANBU exuded an unquestionable prowess about them that the enemies of Konohagakure no Sato had feared. Their discipline was at a level of perfection which was complimented through the effectiveness of their four man cells. These phenomenal soldiers of warfare and misfortune brought their people into safe hands for a time immeasurable. The horde and battalions swept through the most dangerous of missions and put their lives on the line to keep peace and harmony in the order of the beautiful village. It couldn't be helped however; unfortunate omens of ill condemned such rectitude and these men were crushed into oblivion.
It happened quickly and it happened without munificence; the heartbeat that echoed with a miraculous thump through the veins of men who stood against all odds to protect their motherland, men who faced death and did not sacrifice a single quiver of fear to the crude punishment that awaited them. No, the ANBU stood with honor before their oppressors and took the hopes of the men, women and children that desired to live free and carved the last spear of ambition with their own hands to plunge its depth into the overwhelming darkness around them. They were men of old, women of youth and children of brilliance who stood those frontlines; the finest Konohagakure had to offer, the pride and prospect for the nation of Fire. These individuals were hand picked and fulfilled the corporation with tremendous potential and masteries that none else could ever fathom. Fate weaved a horrible fate for these people and their blood tasted the cold surface of their land of birth for the first time.
Perched upon their blessed lands of Flame, the near-legendary, ruthless furies of battle awaited. The words had spread of the attacks, but this NCIA threat was taken for a rumour, each of them still prepared as they drew their gaze over the horizon. The mammoth ANBU spread their ranks thin across the lands, with their barbaric porcelain masks and their heavy-plated armour painted with the darkest hues as if prepared for a bloodbath that would soon shower them. By nightfall, silence had turned to screams and the country of flame had been turned alight. Too much of their defense had been separated, and strategic planning had taken advantage of this—targeting the strongest of these illustrious ANBU and eliminating those few-by-few. In days, their ranks could shed no communication as the dull buzz over their comm.-units left a pain deep in their soul, one which they were disciplined to live with. Remnants of the association scattered, but were still embattled as some were found between the resistances that now spruced alive. The ANBU had diminished, and with time, the conflict murdered what remained of them.

A time soon came when the evils were cast aside and a freedom had been unearthed from the confines of hope. Heroes had returned home, home where pandemonium still dwelled, but determination dwelled further. Shinobi and Countrymen alike bonded together and united to allow stability and reconciliation to shower over their lands. A man who had lived this youthful life in the inspiration of the ANBU had his mind set on the restructuring and revitalization of such men, and by his hand he would seek the will to draw together the people to do so. In secrecy, he collected vessels of talents and utmost power, but publicly he built upon what was needed to string their defences in this time of peace. Uchiha Nevan, born of Konohagakure and ever-questioned because of the surname bound to his existence, took these five years of peace to build and blueprint the coalition that would reign highest over these lands once more.
