BATTLE SYSTEM:
A battle is made up of many posts. You should think of each post as being about 3-5 seconds in the battle. The only thing that could really effect this is talking. But keep it in reason, if there is a fireball barreling down on you, you wont have time to say a paragraph. While fighting you want to be as descriptive as possible. You are trying to show creativity and you also want your fight to be interesting, like a story. A single post is made up of....
1. Response Phase (as many as people that attacked you, for multi-person battles)
2. Setup Phase
3. Main Phase
4. Loss Tag
in that order. These are explained below.
~Response Phase
In the beginning of a player's turn, if they were attacked, they get a Response Phase before the Main Phase. This is where you see if you dodged or not. You can also use a technique here to counter or dodge the attack (Ex. Body Substitute Technique). During the Response Phase a player can choose to...
1. Take the attack without rolling. Example:
Ninja B gets hit by the two punches and the kick.
(Setup Phase here)
(Main Phase here....)
(HP: -3 | CHK: -0 | STM: -0)
2. Roll to see if they dodge/ block. You roll for every attack they did, so for each of the three attacks in he example. Example:
[need a 5/100 to dodge, rolls a 70, 17, 3]
Ninja B takes a punch and a kick to the face, but blocks the last punch.
(Setup Phase here)
(Main Phase here....)
(HP: -2 | CHK: -0 | STM: -0)
3. Use a tech to dodge/ counter the attack or increase dodge. Example:
Ninja B is hit, but a second later is replace by a log.
(Setup Phase here)
(Main Phase here....)
(HP: -0 | CHK: -10 | STM: -0)
*Note: You can only respond properly to attacks aimed at you, this goes for multi-ninja battles. You can however jump in front of an attack aimed at a comrad. You roll a 20 sided dice. If you roll below a 16 you succeed. 16-20 is a failure. You cannot block or anything, you simply take the damage and all effects of the attack instead of them.
~Setup Phase~
In the Setup Phase, you may do one of these things...
- Use Items (Medical stuff, scrolls, w/e)
- Pull Out/ Pick up a weapon or item. As many as logic will allow, you cant wield 3 swords. This also only counts for large weapons. You do not need to use a turn to pull out a kunai, shuriken, etc. I think the rule of thumb will be if it is larger than your character's hand you have to use a turn to take it out. ie : large scroll/ katana.
- Put Away/ Drop a weapon/ item. As many as logic will allow, you cant stick a sword in a kunai pouch. This also only counts for large weapons. You do not need to use a turn to put away a kunai, shuriken, etc. If it is a Large or Medium Weapon you have to use a turn to put it away. ie : large scroll/ katana.
- Activate a bloodline that requires activation unless stated that it takes up the whole turn.
- Inscribe something onto a scroll.
~Attack Phase
In the Attack Phase you may do ONE of these things...
- Use a Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, or Genjutsu.
- Use a scroll technique
- Use regular attacks (punches/kicks). The amount depends on your ranks....
Genin - 2 per post.
Chuunin - 3 per post
Jounin - 4 per post
Kage - 5 per post
- Use weapons. Max of Small weapons(shuriken, needles, etc. is....
Genin - 2 per post.
Chuunin - 4 per post
Jounin - 6 per post
Kage - 8 per post
- Use Medium weapons.
Genin - 1 per post
Chuunin - 2 per post
Jounin - 4 per post
Kage - 5 per post
- Use Large weapons.
Genin - 1 per post
Chuunin - 2 per post
Jounin - 3 per post
Kage - 4 per post
If you attacked your opponent in anyway in your Main Phase you must put a damage tag after the Main Phase. It should have the damage you will do to the opponent if you hit them, given their stats and your stats. It should look like this....
[8(kunai base damage) + 20 (accuracy bonus) - 10(dexterity bonus) = 18 damage]
~Loss Tag
At the end of every Post you have to post your Loss Tag. This should look that the example below and show your loss of HP, Chakra, and Stamina for the turn. Even if you did not loose anything in any of these stats you must still have it.
(HP: -0 | Chakra: -0 | Stamina: -0)
~Attacking
When you attack you CANNOT say you automatically hit them. You must always leave it open for them to dodge. Example:
Ninja A runs up to Ninja B and throws two punches and a kick at their face.
[Damage: 1 - punch x2, 1 - kick]
(HP: -0 | Chakra: -0 | Stamina: -0)
See how Ninja A didn't actually touch Ninja B yet, leaving him a chance to dodge. So on Ninja B's turn he gets to first go through his response phase to see if he dodges or not.
~Starting
To start a battle with someone you must talk to them before. In the very first post of the actual battle you post all your stats except HP, Chakra, and Stamina. This is so you can calculate damage. You dont post these because you get to keep these secret from your opponent. The person with the highest speed goes first.
During your first turn of the battle you do not get a response phase, since you haven't been attacked, and you can not attack your opponent in any way. During your first turn you can do anything, as long as it doesnt effect your opponent, such as...
- Use Items (Medical stuff, scrolls, w/e)
- Pull Out/ Pick up a weapon or item. As many as logic will allow, you cant wield 3 swords.
- Put Away/ Drop a weapon/ item. As many as logic will allow, you cant stick a sword in a kunai pouch.
- Activate a bloodline that requires activation.
After each ninja's first Main Phase you can attack regularly.
~Ending
A battle is over when one of these three conditions is met.
1. A player runs out of HP. In this case you are either dead or severely hospitalized. Admin decides.
2. A player runs out of Chakra. In this case the player passes out and is hospitalized for x days. Admin decides.
3. A player runs out of Stamina. In this case the player passes out and is hospitalized for x days. Admin decides.
4. If a player forfeits and you stop attacking them. No one goes to the hospital.
Remember, battles outside of the actual RPG, as in practice battles in the Practice Arena, do not have the concequences.
~Multi- Person Battles
When battling with a lot of people you must take ORDERED TURNS. So if there are 4 ninjas in a FFA here is how it goes...
Ninja 1
Ninja 2
Ninja 3
Ninja 4
Ninja 1
Also, if your are battling in team battles, such as a 2v2 then....
Ninja 1 (team 1)
Ninja 2 (team 2)
Ninja 3 (team 1)
Ninja 4 (team 2)
Make sure to alternate between teams. If there are more teams, then alternate teams and members accordingling.
~Multi-Attack Jutsus
If you have a technique that does multiple hits, such as Mythical Fire Flower (Katon Housenka), you apply modifiers differently than a regular attack. You take your modifier, and the opponents defenseive modifier and find out what the final bonus to the technique will be. You then divide that amount by the number of attacks there are, and add them to each attack. For example...
If you use Mythical Fire Flower (Katon Housenka) and fire 3 fireballs at 20 damage each, and you have a ninjutsu score of 120 and the opponent has a resistance of 60. You add up the modifiers...
30 - 15 = 15.
Then divide by 3, the number of attacks.
15/3 = 5
Then add that amount to each attack.
20+5 = 25.
So each fireball does 25 damage.
Some may wonder what the point of multi-attack jutsu's then if they can miss more. The answer is that they are more likely to get damage through. You get more trys to try and hit the opponent, and at times and almost 100% certainty to hit at least once.
~Basic Attack Rules~
All Basic attacks cost 1 stamina to preform each, and deal 5 base damage. (These include punchs, kicks, kneeing, etc.)
