When thinking of clans you have 3 choices.
1. Join a clan.
2. Don't be in a clan.
3. Create your own clan.
To Join a clan, all you have to do is find a clan in the village you are trying to join. You then must find out the maximum amount of clan members that can be in a clan at one time, which is based on the villages current population. This can be found in the news section. You then PM on the forum the creator of the clan, and ask to join. If they say yes then you put it on your character sheet and your in! Make sure to do this before you post your character, as you cannot be approved until you have a clan anyways, and you may want 2 customize your character to the clan some.
You can also decide to not be in a clan, and just have a family name. A person that is not in a clan does not get any bonus's for not being in one. It adds character flavor, and aside from that, you don't have to worry about clan ties and all that sort of thing. AN example of someone without a clan would be Naruto. He has just a family name.
Before making a clan, please make sure to browse through the clans, located on the forums, and see if there is a clan similiar to your idea that you can join. WE WILL NOT APPROVE CLANS THAT ARE SIMILIAR TO ALREADY MADE CLANS.
Hello again all, and welcome to another tutuorial to enhance your role play experience. The subject today is the creation of clans, groups or families that are closely knit and often are rather secretive. Your focus, most likely, is to maximize your combat potential with your clan, but this tutorial will show that this is possible in many ways.
Clans are often not without their secrets. These are anywhere from little things, like a somewhat shameful background, to big things, like powerful techniques taught only to the most powerful and worthy. Some even have rare and incredibly useful abilities known as Bloodline Limits.
A Bloodline Limit is an ability or trait passed down through the genes of a family from generation to generation. Though the trait itself is not normally an offense by itself, it can usually be used to create a devastating effect. Many a clan is feared for the power of their blood.
Bear in mind, however, the true power of a clan does not lie in the genes; it lies in the unity and skill of the clan as a whole. A ninja who knows his clan is at his back, ready to aid him may be infinitely more powerful than even an army of Bloodline users. The teachings of his clan may lead him to victory against even insurmountable odds.
Clan Name: (your clan name, example: Uchiha)
This field is the name of your clan, which will be the surname (last name) of every member of your clan. Please keep it original, and bear in mind that we are playing an Oriental-centered setting, meaning the names you choose should bear resemblance to names found in far-eastern Asia.
Clan Village: (Must only be in one village unless given special permission by an admin.)
This field is where you determine what village your clan will be in. All members of your clan must originate from this village, barring the special case where your clan has been given permission to exist in more than one village. It would be wise to choose a village whose elemental affinity or nature matches that of your clan. If you are a clan associated with fire, then choose Leaf. If your clan is made up of people who can't sit still and never settle, perhaps the villages of Sand or Mist suit you.
Clan Starter: (person that founded the clan)
This is the field where you name the person who created this clan, old or new. You should have a general description of this person, what drove them to create this clan, and the ideals they founded the clan on.
Clan Head: (whoever it is, could be unknown)
This field is where you name the current head or chief of your clan. Again a general description of form and attitude should be included, along with their beliefs and skill in the ninja arts. Generally, a new character should not be the head of a clan, considering their strength or wisdom is most likely not the greatest of their clan.
Clan Age and Status: (Old, Young, Respected, Discraced)
This is the field where you proclaim your clan's reputation among the village people. Newer clans are often not respected as much, but that doesn't necessarily mean older gets more respect. You should put a lot of thought into this, as it should have an impact on how others treat your clan members.
Clan Bloodline: (You bloodline if you have one, example: Sharingan)
Ah, and now to the meat of the matter. You will notice a marked difference in what will pass as a bloodline in 4.0, as we are substantially lowering the power of the bloodline itself. No more are the days where one might create a clan imbuing low ranking ninja with incredible power, just to give oneself a jump start.
Recall in the anime and manga of Naruto, the known bloodlines are not in themselves powerful weapons. It is what the clans have done with those bloodline traits that have made them powerful. Byakugan of the Hyuuga allows the clan member vision similar to x-ray. That doesn't sound very useful, does it? In truth, it is incredibly so, because it allows one to see things like the Inner Coil system, allowing the clan member to attack it directly.
Bloodlines are now restricted to a single non-combative ability, making the clan creator think more about how to apply this trait. Few of the clans from 3.0 showed this potential for creative growth, but this problem will now be solved.
An example of excellence would be the Yonaki clan, of Cloud on 3.0, created by member Kai. This clan's bloodline allowed one to emit light. This later had the potential to blind an opponent, to burn them, even the possibility of concentrated light attacks for the powerful members. It is to such a standard that we hold the clans of 4.0. Be as original as possible, and save the best for later.
Clan Element: (Pick and element. Anything you want. Try and base it around your village)
This field is where you will determine your clan's elemental affinity. Generally, all clan members will be slightly more proficient in this element than all the rest. If your clan's elementa matches your villages, you will be doubly fortunate, as you will become a force to be reckoned with.
Clan Emblem: (Put a picture here if you have one.)
This field is where you put clan's emblem, the mark with which they are associated. This is optional, but keep in mind that this symbol represents your clan members. What kind of image do you want them to project?
Clan Info: (Backround, everything you can tell us about clan)
This section should full detail the background of your clan, from it's birth to it's influence on today's world. This section should not be under 300 words in length, and should be checked at least tiwce for spelling and grammar. Your clan's history will be a matter of public record, so make sure it is an accurate and well-written record.
Clan Specific Techs: (Custom Techs you want for ONLY clan members to see)
This section is where the true military strength of your clan lies. This section will be filled with the techniques unique to your clan, the abilities that make your clan worthy of note in the annals of your village. Be sure to include a wide variety of techniques, making sure there are some for every type and rank of ninja.
Clan Skills: (Custom Skills your clan has that are not the bloodline)
Finally, the clan skills. Clan skills are similar to the skills found on the Skills page, but are unique to your clan. These are generally abilities that increase the strength of power of clan techniques, or some form of training that is unique to the clan.
We've reached the end of our tutuorial now. I hope you found it useful, and an enjoyable read. Remember, a strong ninja is one who has something to protect, not necessarily one who is skilled in the ninja arts.
As always, contact a member of the staff if you have any questions!
