Zandoran v Himari

Recommended Posts

Well, this was just about the weirdest dream that Himari had ever had. She was pretty sure she'd never met this foreigner, but... okay, what was with the battle arena? Was this some kind of sick joke? The Hyuuga gennin stifled a yawn. It was way too late... early?... whatever... for this nonsense. She might as well play along with this dreamscape in hopes that it would come to a conclusion sooner. "We have to fight, then? Is that so?" Well... best to get to it. Facing her currently unnamed and seemingly shapeless opponent, the fatigued, pale-eyed girl raised a single hand in an ever-so-familiar gesture. With a silent whispered prayer, the flow of chakra was activated within her diminutive body as the veins surrounding her eyes became more prominent, the paleness of her white eyes gaining a sharp contrast beneath the power of her bloodline.

Byakugan Vision - Rank [ 1 ]

Effect: While the Byakugan is active, a character with this skill’s Accuracy, and Evasion are increased by 1.5x per rank in this skill, with ‘x’ being equivalent to the wielder’s level. The value of ‘x’ may never be less than 'y', where 'y' is equivalent to 20 + 10 for each rank of this skill, beyond the first. All statistical bonuses provided by this skill may not exceed 1.5x the base value of the individual statistics. Bonuses to Evasion are nullified when the wielder is targeted by an opponent whose Accuracy statistic is 1.5x greater than the wielder’s Evasion Statistic.

Description: The Byakugan's 360 degree circle of penetrating vision grants those blessed with the bloodline a heightened sense of the world, and with it they are able to perform feats of amazing accuracy and agility. In it's initial stage, the Byakugan's vision is at its weakest, but still provides much more clarity than the average person's sight. This power grows with the wielder though, and through training and experience, the vision of the Byakugan soon becomes so acute as to allow the wielder to see impossibly far and with astounding visual clarity.

Total Ranks: 4

Current Rank: 1

Cost: -1

Byakugan Focus - Rank [ 1 ]

Effect: While the Byakugan is active, Genjutsu performed by an opponent of equal or lesser rank than a character with this skill incur a 10% reduction to total Ghost Damage, and effect per rank in this skill. The duration of status effects applied in this way are reduced by 1 turn per 2 ranks of this skill, to a minimum of 1. This skill may not stack with other skills that reduce the effectiveness of Genjutsu.

Description: The ability to see chakra in its various forms is a rare gift. When the Byakugan is active, genjutsu are much less effective against the wielder. With their immaculate vision, the invisible threads of chakra that would infect the brain become visible, and lose much of their potency against those who bear the bloodline. This ability is one of the most difficult for a Hyūga to master, but as they progress, the ability to detect the subtle variations in chakra allow them to greatly reduce the effects of Genjutsu around them.

Total Ranks: 4

Current Rank: 1

Cost: -1

Byakugan Evasion - Rank [ 1 ]

Effect: While the Byakugan is active, all techniques with the descriptors ‘Area Of Effect’ or ‘Dynamic Trap’ of 'x' rank or below that target a character with this skill are treated as if they were regular attacks. ‘x’ being equivalent to the character’s rank in this skill. (1; Genin, 2; Chunin, etc) Techniques with the ‘Forbidden; Powerful’ descriptor are not affected by this skill. Techniques used by a combatant whose Speed or Accuracy statistic is 2x greater than the wielder's Evasion statistic are not affected by this skill.

Description: The 360 degree sight granted by the Byakugan makes it nigh impossible to pin down a wielder. Those with the White Eye always seem to be able to find a hole in the enemies attack, and slip free where others would be hopelessly trapped. Naturally though, a Hyūga of Genin rank confronted by an extremely powerful or fast attack would be unable to perform as well as a highly trained wielder of the bloodline, but with practice wielders are capable of becoming extremely adept in the evasive maneuvers common among Hyūga clansmen.

Total Ranks: 4

Current Rank: 1

Byakugan Targeting - Rank [ 1 ]

Effect: While the Byakugan is active, all techniques used by a character with this skill have their critical strike range increased by +5% per rank in this skill. This skill does not effect targets whose Evasion statistic is 2x higher than the character's Accuracy statistic.

Description: The Hyūga clan prizes the Byakugan's ability to see into the enemy body, and was even the inspiration behind their hallmark, fighting style. This ability, allows a wielder to target the weaknesses within the body almost as naturally as breathing. Like many facets of the Byakugan's power, this ability takes much precision and honing to make it deadly, and only with experience is a wielder able to effectively pin-point and attack the weakest places on the human body.

*• Gentle Fist Style

Effect: Characters with this skill may perform techniques with the ‘Jūken’ descriptor. Characters with this skill may accumulate ‘Trigram Charges’. In addition anytime a character with this skill activates the ‘Byakugan’ they gain 1 ‘Trigram Charge’. Anytime a character with this skill’s ‘Byakugan’ is deactivated they lose 2 ‘Trigram Charges’. ‘Trigram Charges’ have the following effects:

卍 When performing Basic Attacks or techniques with the ‘Jūken’ descriptor, the user may pay 1 ‘Trigram Charge’ to ignore 10x% of the target's Defense statistic with that attack, where 'x' is equivalent to the to the total number of turns that the target is currently afflicted with the status effects 'Damaged Tenketsu' and 'Damaged Muscles'. 'Trigram Charges' may be spent in this way once every 2 turns.

卍 Basic Attacks and Techniques with the ‘Jūken’ descriptor deal 1 Chakra and Stamina damage for every 10-x base damage that they deal, with ‘x’ being equivalent to the number of 'Trigram Charges' possessed by the user of the attack at the beginning of their Main Phase.

Description: Developed by the Hyūga clan as the perfect counterpart to their kekkei genkai, the Gentle Fist fighting style is known for its ability to deal massive internal damage while expending relatively little energy by injecting one's chakra into their target's body. When coupled with the Byakugan's enhanced visual acuity, a practitioner is capable of directly attacking their opponent's tenketsu and thereby shutting down their foes capability to use chakra.

Cost: -2

*Compulsive Catch Phrase [Is that so? / So desu ka?]
The character has a compulsive habit to repeat the same catch phrase over and over multiple times a day. It is borderline disease in nature, and if the character does not, or is unable to say the catch phrase so often, their morale drops subconsciously, leaving them considerably weaker. Dattebayo.
Effect: The character must say their catch phrase at least once every 50 spoken words or once every 800 written words, whichever comes first. This count is kept between posts. If the character fails to meet this requirement they take a -5% reduction to all of their non-tank stats for the rest of the day, cumulative. This reduction lasts for the rest of the day in character or at least two (2) days in real life, which ever is longer. The chosen phrase must be at least one word.
Cost: +2

Insomniac

Type: General Skill

Effect: At the start of battle, this character suffers from the status effect [Tired] for two turns. When this character is inflicted with [Tired] by an enemy combatant, the status lasts for an extra turn. This may allow [Tired] to break turn limits.

Description: Among the world's ninja there are some that just struggle to sleep. Whether from trauma, regrets, anxiety or naturally, these ninja are often slow starters and prone to bouts of sleepiness.

"How curious those eyes. I'm going to have to very careful." Eamonn got into his stance preparing for a fight he was thinking about the eyes that his opponent weilded and how they could change the tide of battle. He had a few tricks up his sleeves and he didn't plan on using even if it meant using all of his chakra. He wasn't going to go all out just yet he wanted to see the capabilities of his opponent.

What was this guy doing? Himari stared blankly for a moment, trying to see if there was something devious going on. Even the Byakugan couldn't see why kids loved cinnamon toast crunch so much, though Himari knew the answer. Spotting nothing particularly suspicious, she slid a kunai into her palm and threw it at the strange dream figure. Maybe this would reveal if they were even real or not?

[For future reference, please remember to note specifically that you've triggered Narcissist in the future as your reasoning for your lost main phase, and that you'll be enraged in the following turn, as it's easy to lose track of that in the middle of battle.]

"Is that so?" Ah, no. They weren't talking to her at all. The mysterious figure was talking to itself now? Himari was even more confused than she already had been. Still, they seemed raring to go for a fight, and so Himari obliged them. Gathering her chakra, Himari released a slow, cool breath. Chakra danced around the diminutive girl like snowflakes as she stepped in to engage again, her hands flowing in a familiar pattern as she unleashed her next attack upon the foreign shadow creature. This was really turning out to be one of the strangest dreams she'd had in a long time.

Spoiler

Type: Taijutsu [Jūken | Dojutsu: Byakugan | Personal: Hyuuga Himari]
Rank: Chuunin
Cost: 50 chakra + 50 Stamina + 1 Trigram Charge.
Damage: 65
Effects: Inflicts 1 turn of ‘Frozen’, two turns of 'Damaged Muscles; 3' and two turns of 'Damaged Tenketsu; 3'.

Description: The Hiyariken is a technique of the gentle fist style that channels the feelings of long winter nights spent alone. After focusing her chakra in a spiraling aura of chakra that imitates the appearance of snow, Himari rapidly strikes several of the opponent's tenketsu, injecting this chilling chakra that numbs the muscles and leaves the target with a deep-set feeling of coldness.

Damaged Tenketsu
Effect: Characters afflicted with this status effect must roll a 10-sided dice when paying any Chakra cost. If the result is a 1-x (‘x’ being determined in the technique that afflicts this status effect, and may never be more than 8), the character may not pay that cost unless they pay 150% of the base cost. This effect stacks with other instances of the status effect ‘Damaged Tenketsu’ to a maximum of 1-8. Type: Taijutsu [Jūken | Hijutsu; Hyūga]
Rank: Chuunin
Cost: 15 Stamina + 15 chakra. 1 Trigram Charge.
Damage: 30
Effects: Inflicts 1 turn of Slow. Inflicts Fazed.
Description: The Eight Trigrams Palms are renowned the world over, as an extremely versatile derivative of the Jūken taijutsu. Being one of the Hyūga clan’s most powerful attacks, for many generations, the variants of this jutsu were only taught to members of the Main House to ensure that their secrets might never be stolen in some way. Unfortunately, this technique brings disgrace to the name. Utilizing the principles of the gentle fist, the user proceeds to tickle the opponent while surgically injecting their chakra into the target. Unlike its legitimate cousins which use the Byakugan’s power to target and seal the opponent’s Tenketsu, this technique merely serves to momentarily disorient and inhibit the opponent’s movements.
