Rematch; Kotaro Versus Junsei

Recommended Posts

Not since the Arrakis Tournament had Junsei seen his old teammate Kotaro. Junsei had won the match on a technicality, but even then, it didn't sit well with him. So he decided that a rematch was in order. After his several encounters with Saki, Junsei was feeling more confident in his abilities than ever before. Even though he he had lost to the Uchiha more times than she had given up, he still felt like it was a great learning experience.

"So Fugu, how's the courtship of your puffers going? Poison yourself lately?" Junsei asked. It was old and tired banter, but it was their routine. Junsei was wearing his black pants and shirt with green wraps and green tabi. His suna Hitai-ate on his forehead matched the old "shinobi" band that was inlaid into his chuunin vest. On his back was a large metallic object that was almost as tall as Junsei himself.  Basically, Junsei and Kotaro hadn't seen each other in quite some time and a lot had changed, but it was nice to get back to basics. "I hope you're out to kill me, cause there's no way you'll win if you aren't." Junsei said.

Skills:

.:Primary Elemental Specialty:. UNLOCKED

Naturally aligned to the element of the earth, this character has a natural tact at using and manipulating earth to their bidding. This chakra is thick and well suited for the manipulation of physical jutsu, making it perfect for the creation of barriers. User has a -15% to base damage (rounded up) for incoming Ninjutsu attacks. Earth Jutsu cost one less JP to a minimum of 1. This effect may stack with other skills, to a maximum of -2 JP per technique. User receives the skill “Subtle Elements: Earth” for free and may purchase an additional rank of “Subtle Elements”. If the user already has “Subtle Elements: Earth”, they may have their points refunded.

Path of the Medical Ninja

Description:The road to becoming a Medical Shinobi is a long and difficult process. It takes a great amount of time to study Medical Jutsu, as the type of chakra used is quite different from that used to mold into Elemental Jutsu. To heal is considerably more difficult than it is to destroy. Those who go down this path sacrifice one type of strength in order to build up another.

Effect: Character no longer applies Ninjutsu modifier when using Ninjutsu techniques (75% of ninjutsu mods for Clan Ninjutsu). Character now applies 50% of the Ninjutsu modifier to Medical Ninjutsu.

Anatomical Intelligence: - The skill "First Aid Provider" may be taken for free. The player may also take the skills "Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)" and "Field Medic".

Cost: -1

The Path of the Advanced Medic

After years of training in the art of medicine, the Medical Ninja has an easier time diagnosing and treating their patients. These medical ninja have devoted all of their power to saving lives and healing others. Because of this, their battle capabilities are much lower than the average shinobi. This is a path for the devoted healer.

Effect: The player may take the skill "Field Surgeon". Medical Jutsu now use 100% of the user's Ninjutsu modifier.

Anatomical Mastery:

Shield Creation: Whenever a Medical Jutsu heals a character, that character gains a shield that absorbs an amount of damage equal to 25% (rounded down) of the amount healed. The shield lasts until depleted or the end of that player's next turn.

RP Guide: - A character that follows the path of the Medical ninja likely understands the fragility of life, and seeks to preserve it. Though not all medi-nin are caring, it is very likely that a shinobi who has begun to follow the path of medical ninjutsu is and does care for others immensely. Intelligence is something which is for the most part required to be a Medical Ninja, and likewise, curiosity into medical practices and surgical procedures is likely. Despite the fact that shinobi that follow the path of the Advanced Medical Ninja are innately caring, their capacity to show is usually diminished, and in the case of some it is usually hidden behind a fear of loss.

Requirements: Chuunin. Must have Path of the Medic.

Cost: -1 SP

Equipment:

"Shinobi" [ 忍 ] Hitai-Ate Description: An archaic headband from the time of the 4th Great Shinobi War, when all nations banded together under a single banner to fight off an evil greater than themselves. Somehow, this headband has withstood the test of time. Rather than a village symbol, it simply possesses the kanji for "Shinobi" ( 忍 ).

Special Attributes: Blossoming Compassion

Effect: Whenever the wearer uses a Healing Ninjutsu, they roll a D100. On a roll of 1-15, that ninjutsu also applies "Induced Regeneration: X" for 2 turns, where X is equal to half of the user's level. This effect is only active while the headband is being worn.

Sunagakure Chuunin Medical Vest

An over-vest worn by medical shinobi of Chuunin Rank. It has a high collar rather than extended shoulder. On each side of the collar, there is a small red cross that signifies the wearer as a medic. On the front of the vest are several compartments which allows quick and easy access to necessary medical supplies. The Sunagakure village symbol is stitched into the area just above where the wearer's heart would be when wearing the jacket.

Forest Green Ninja Tabi

One of the gifts given to Junsei by his parents to celebrate his promotion to Chuunin. These tabi tend to stick out a bit in Sunagakure, however, they would blend in quite naturally in Konoha where he would be spending an unknown amount of time. Generally disliking shoes at all, Junsei was surprised to find that the Tabi fit him perfectly and he actually felt comfortable in them.

"You know they love me too much for that. You also know I've been locked up, don't give me that bullshit," Kotaro said, winking at his old friend. They'd known each other forever, so the fact that Junsei was accelerating above him in skill and status didn't bother him too much. "You know I still have a better bod than you." Flexing his abs to make a point, he cartoonishly kissed his biceps and smiled sheepishly. Same old, same old, but it felt good to see his best friend again. The gennin looked the same as always - same hair, same jacket... Not much had changed. But I guess not much could change for someone who just spent a long while locked up in jail.

"Your skills may have improved while we've been apart, but I still think I can give you a run for your money."

"You might have a better body, but we all know my face wins hands down!" Junsei rebutted. "I was serious about trying to kill me, just so you know!" The Chuunin winked at his opponent.

Set-Up Phase:
No Action

"So you think a poor little fish kissing gennin can give me a run for my money? I do have quite a bit of money... so you'll have to do quite a bit running, won't you?" Junsei asked.

Main Phase:

"Speaking of fish, I have to admit, you inspired me to take more of an interest in poisons. Like the Noxious Nefaria. It's a beautiful little flower, but it has a deadly pollen it sprays to defend itself against birds and other creatures that might destroy it. See, I did a bunch of research on it to see if I could use it as a medicine or an antidote. However, I learned it comes in handy in situations like these. Watch your step now." Junsei formed a series of hand signs. As he spoke, he knelt to the ground and placed his palm on the dirt. There was a puff of white smoke and a dark purple flower appeared. In another puff of smoke, the flower vanished into a seal that moved onto the ground, ready to be set off.

Kotaro's only response was to smile slily and take a martial stance. He'd give it his all, for sure.

Set-Up Phase:

Kotaro unsheathed his two blades, Ghostblade and Reaper. He knew Junsei knew exactly what they were capable of, and it made him excited to see exactly what Junsei could do now. Now it was time.

Main Phase:

Dropping lower to the ground, and holding his blades to the side, Kotaro prepared his stance. The Karite could be brutal, but it was quick and efficient, and he loved it.

Karite Style

Effect: One charge is gained after using a [Karite style] technique. Only one charge may be gained per turn. Charges are lost when the user does not use a styleless or Karite Style Taijutsu, weapon, or basic attack during the main phase.

Rapture Charges

0 Charges: 5% Reduction in Defense of the user.

1 Charge: 6% Bonus to base Accuracy, 5% reduction in Defense of the user.

2 Charges: 8% Bonus to base Accuracy, 6% reduction in Defense of the user.

3 Charges: 10% Bonus to base Accuracy, 8% reduction in Defense of the user.

4 Charges: 12% Bonus to base Accuracy, 10% reduction in Defense of the user.

5 Charges: 15% Bonus to base Accuracy, 12% reduction in Defense of the user.

Rapture Charges may be spent during an attack to increase the chance to hit of a single attack by an additional 2% per charge.

Requirements: Hanamajo Clan Ninja or 5 Post Training with Ishikawa Kotaro (or an NPC with K Mitsuhide’s Permission)

Description: Developed by none other than Ishikawa Kotaro, the Karite martial arts style is based around ignoring the enemy and going straight for the kill. While using this martial style, the user puts themselves into a very focused state of mind, where they take more damage, but they also manage to deal it out more effectively. They keep up close and personal, making sure as many hits happen as possible. Otherwise, it is a rather simple martial art.

"Well, I remember those little guys! You used them in our last match!" Junsei was utterly jovial. He felt confident that he could win this battle, but he didn't want to end it so quickly.

"I hope their bite is worse than their bark!"

Set-Up Phase:

Junsei reached behind his back and grabbed the metal object attached to his back. He slammed it down into the ground in front of him and placed both hands on top of the item. "You see, now this something new! But I don't think you're quite ready for the full thing yet." Junsei slid a hand over the top of the object and it suddenly expanded slightly. Black lines appeared around what looked like a green flower.

"Careful. When you see three of these flowers, it might just be all over for you."

Kotaro's mind was set, like a wolf hunting a rabbit. Nothing else mattered to him, and he tuned out Junsei's every word. He was aware of the trap that was laid for him, and he knew the Nefaria's side effects well. It could also cause painful hallucinations if refined, but Junsei wasn't a poison maker like Kotaro, and unlike Kotaro, he focused on life, not death.

Junsei was glad to see that Kotaro seemed to be taking this seriously. As the gennin swooped in and began slashing in circles around Junsei, the first bite of the blade cut into his flesh. Barely. However a small red line of blood appeared on his leg as his pants were cut through. Before having much time to think about it, Junsei grabbed the metallic object in front of him, currently showing only one flower, and span it around in enough time to make sure that Kotaro's following strikes didn't touch him at all. Loud clanging filled the area as Ghostblade and Reaper smacked into Junsei's own mysterious item.

Set-Up Phase:

"Good! You've still got it even after being cooped up this whole time!" He slid his hand across the top of the metallic object once more and it expanded slightly further revealing another flower and more black lines. "That's two! Excited to see what happens after three?"

Main Phase:
Junsei is Stunned! He may not act this phase.

Junsei's eyes suddenly widened. He realized the cut on his leg hurt more than he thought it did originally. 'How the hell did he manage to actually nick me? I've been training so hard to avoid attack!' Junsei thought to himself. He didn't bother healing the wound, instead he decided to let it fester in his mind and use it as a fuel for later.

Junsei's leg throbbed and his own inability to dodge all of Kotaro's attacks were swimming in his mind. Before he was able to pull himself together, he was assaulted by another onslaught of blades, only these were tainted with poison. The first blow, Junsei saw coming and was able to brings his arm up at enough of an angle that it glanced off with minimal damage, however, the blade, and the poison, managed to break the skin and already Junsei felt the burn of it entering his system. The burn was enough to distracted him from the other incoming attacks and he was awarded with two more lacerations that also burned as the toxin entered his system.

"Ohh, I remember this too! Viper venom, right? I can feel it burning. Good, you are taking this seriously!" Junsei smiled.

"Well, it looks like you've managed to delay the inevitable a bit longer. Doesn't matter, I like the anticipation! That alone might knock you out." Junsei smiled as he walked away from the metal object. It stayed wedged into the ground with two flowers and curling black lines showing.

Main Phase:

"Your poison is going to hurt like a bitch, but I'm getting more and more used to pain. It helps that I can basically mend nearly any wound. You already knew that though. Old news. So not only have I gotten better at healing, but I've found that I have a knack for shields too." He was forming hand seals at incredible speeds. The ground around him suddenly giving way to creeping and curling vines. The foliage coiled around every inch of his body several times over. It created a thick layer of off green vines and leaves, but left Junsei just as unrestricted as he would've been without them. From within his mobile cocoon, Junsei's medical talent took hold. His wounds began to seal up and he knew that he only had to deal with the poison.

Once the vines stopped moving, another, semi-transparent, light blue coating seemed to cover Junsei's body. With one technique, Junsei had managed to create two lines of defense against Kotaro's assault.

Kotaro smiled as a barrier of green covered Junsei and hardened. He jumped back, and put his hands on his hips, which he cocked to one side, blades reversed in his hands so that they pointed away from his childhood friend.\

"This might take a while. I doubt you will be able to wear me out before I can wear you down, but your ability to heal anything I throw at you might make this take all day."

He cocked his head curiously.

"I can tell that your chakra flow has improved since I was last with you. It feels as if you are flowing with life, like a flower absorbing sunlight and sucking water through its roots. I'm impressed."

Junsei is Distracted! New Evasion is 555!
Junsei Takes 45 Poison Damage!

115% - 55% = 60%
Hit!

Damage: 100 - 110 [Defense] = 5 [5% minimum]
Medical Shield: 137 Health - 5 damage = 132 Health Remaining

Junsei fell for the feint and his speed wasn't exactly lightning quick. However, as Kotaro's blades sped towards his body, Junsei just laughed happily. His blades bounced right off the light blue barrier with a spray of blue sparks. Junsei didn't even feel the impact of the blow, he just kept laughing happily. This was a lot of fun!

Set-Up Phase:
Junsei stood back up and went over to his metallic object. He spread it out and there were three flowers shown. He picked it up and swing it around his body. The wind around him kicked up from the lightest influence from the weapon.

"Well, now things are going to get pretty interesting. See? I was never really one for offensive techniques. Although, I found that I'm pretty handy with a fan. And my chakra control is absolutely through the roof when it comes to your standard shinobi. Learning to manipulate wind element, I found I'm actually pretty damn awesome." Junsei was beaming at his teammate. This was the first time he had the opportunity to use Sasu against an actual combatant.

"Kotaro, meet Sasu! And now that he's out, things are going to get even harder for you!"

Main Phase:

Junsei gripped Sasu with both hands and suddenly spun around incredibly fast. A visible whirlwind formed in front of the chuunin. The leaves covering Junsei barely shifted as if they weren't bothered by the whirlwind less than three feet ahead of them. Junsei winked at Kotaro and blew his teammate a kiss mockingly. At the same time, the whirlwind launched towards his opponent.

Junsei makes 1 strike with Sasu

Response Phase:

Kotaro jumped to the side once again, and realized that he made a fatal mistake. The root of a noxious nefario had crept its way through the ground, and suddenly a flower popped up and puffed a poisonous cloud of spores straight into the gennin's face. He tried to cover his mouth and eyes, but it was too late.

Dodge Roll: 30

Nefario Hits! 57 Poison Damage for 3 turns

Sasu Dodge Roll: 92

44% Chance to Hit, Missed

Set-Up Phase:

Bringing his blades up defensively, Kotaro hacked and coughed until he had gotten most of the remaining spores out of his throat and mouth. He could feel the poison working its way through his lungs and into his bloodstream. Despite his experience with poisons and his own mistakes in which he had poisoned himself, his body still hadn't developed too potent an immunity to the feeling.

Main Phase:

Kotaro tried to speak, but all that came out was another hacking cough.

Fuck this, I need to end it quickly, or I will lose for sure. It's go time!

Junsei takes 45 Poison Damage!

Set-Up Phase:

"YEAH!" Junsei shouted as Kotaro triggered his trap. "See? Flowers aren't just pretty! They can kick as much ass as any stupid blade." Junsei teased. Even as Kotaro's blades bounced off the metallic leaves covering his body. Junsei still had a bit left before the technique faltered, but he planned on setting up a great offense ready to take down Kotaro in no time, even if his fan was inaccurate, he'd still win.

Junsei drove the base of his fan into the ground and stood behind it.

Main Phase:

He formed several more seals and placed his palms on the ground. Once more the Noxious Nefaria appeared for a moment and then vanished waiting to be triggered once more. "For my first trick! An oldie but a goodie! Noxious Nefaria, takes the stages once more! Watch where you step!" Junsei put on his best announcer voice. If only he had this kind of ability in the Arrakis tournament, maybe he would have done better and actually beat Saki to take first place. Second place wasn't bad, but he wanted to go beyond that in the future.

"Stupid blade?! How can you say that?! You know these belonged to my parents. They are special to me."

Junsei's words cut deep. Not only did Kotaro notice a gap between their skill levels, but Junsei had now insulted the only things Kotaro had to remember his parents. He dropped to the ground into a cross-legged position and crossed his arms.

"I said any stupid blade. I didn't say your parents' blades are stupid. Quit being stupid. Not get off your stupid ass and attack me with your not-stupid blades so that I can dodge the stupid attack and let you step in my stupid trap so that I can win this stupid battle and we can go get some stupid food and then I can tell you how stupid you were acting after this stupid misunderstanding. God, you're so stupid!" Junsei growled. He crossed his arms and glared at his friend on the ground pouting like a child.
Set-Up Phase:
-No Action-

"And what the hell makes you think you can just sit down and pout in the middle of a battle!"

Main Phase:
"You god damn stupid idiot!" Junsei was livid by this point. He walked over and aimed a single punch on the top of Kotaro's head. Junsei knew that his physical prowess were absolutely nothing, but the attack wasn't meant to be damaging, just enough to knock some sense into him. "STUPID!"

Junsei uses One punch to Kotaro's head.
