Out In The Thicket

Recommended Posts

[Extremely Bored]

Atop of the nearby trees sat birds, singing away tunes to another which sounded easing, and below, in the thicket of the forest were other creatures alike, the forest was luminous and inhabited by natures wide array of creatures which lived in the slums of the hills, amidst the shrubs or atop what seemed overwhelmingly tall trees. It was natures greatest attraction, and many stopped by to embrace it's feeling of relaxation; although it seemed some took advantage of the amount of space given, and used it for training out in such a peaceful environment.

The peaceful atmosphere was broken as the shrubs were brushed aside vigorously by what seemed to be an tall figure. The loud stomping of his boots made creatures within his foothold scatter with fear and the birds above him with the curiosity of what was lurking below turned silent. The beaming down light from the sun had revealed the person who had disturbed the peace here in the environment. Jirou, the 15 year old boy continued to stomp his way through the thicket, purposely letting his presence to be known. Amongst the rather lengthy shrubs, he had found himself a tall tree in which would block out the irritating sun, sitting below the tree he un-holstered his sword from his back and held it in front of him, Hayato was a beautiful sword, it glimmered in the sunlight as the blade slowly made it's way out of the scabbard, it was named after his father and would grant him much use in the future.

Laying his head against the rough tree bark, Jirou slowly dozed off, the sun was wearing him out and the long travel into the forest gave him slight fatigue, if his adventure were to continue he'd have to take a small pit stop...

It had been several hours since Jirou had dozed off unknowingly, his hair was muffled and assorted with grass and bits of bark, he had looked like he'd gotten into a fight with a bear during his sleep; nonetheless he was awake, and seemingly well enough to stand up to brush off the clinging annoyances.

*yawn* "Perfect."

Looking south through the shrubs and the trees, was the horizon; the sun was about to pass its mark and make way for a friendly visitor, the everlasting moon, and finally relieve Jirou of the intense heat. Although, time was of the essence, the sun was passing it's mark and Jirou didn't find the forest the ideal place to be staying out over night in. Thinking quick, Jirou holstered his sword on his back once again, and set forward through the mysterious shrubs. The shrubs were rather small, only reaching ankle height on Jirou, but it still created an unwanted distraction, a lingering thought of what may lurk below the feet of you and being totally unaware of it made Jirou tingle for a second, thus picking up the speed.

His destination was some distance away from his position, it was a camp yard in which travelers used as a refuge overnight for many stopped by these forests. The adventure would surely turn into a nightmare if the dark happened to overwhelm Jirou before reaching his destination, and therefore made no plans on taking small breaks like beforehand.

As the sun passed even further below the horizon, Jirou stomped his way through the uncomfortable and misty environment. During the day this forest was a haven for many creatures who posed no threat, but during sundown going on night, creatures whom pose threat as vicious stalkers and cunning hunters came out to play, it frightened Jirou to the bone, even being armed with a weapon he still felt the king of the jungle himself would devour him alive.

The tickling of the ear indicated something nearby was bad news, the muffling growls from amidst the bushes made Jirou jump.

"God save me..."

Although his legs were trotting as fast as possible, the adrenaline rush somehow made him pick up the speed; in which was also the speed of his heart pounding away at his chest. Unholstering his scabbard, Jirou unsheathed his sword quietly and held it by his side; No Hayabusa was going down without a fight, either human or animal.

He dared to look behind him, the bushes ruffled and suddenly jumped around although it seemed, he stopped and turned around holding his blade in front of his body, acting as a countermeasure.

"Not now, this isn't happening!"

His eyes lit up in horror, as the creature leaped from the bushes, to land a mere feet away. From it, leaped a hare, it was decently sized but seemed irrelevant seeming the species posed no threat. Goosebumps ran through his body, tingling like wild; only to be reassured by the fact he was living.

"God dam rabbits..."

In the distance, not to far away the essence of fire could be seen, and felt; the vigorous cheers of the gathered travelers drinking and eating at one of their many festive party's was an assuring sight. Entering the camp, from the bushes also gave the travelers a fright, joining in Jirou felt rather safe within the community of travelers; from the king of the jungle...

[END.]

[Was rather shit, both of them were done after 3am for me so tired and bored and mustered a lousy story, oh well.)
