Humpty Dumpty Ate it All! [Blue Group]

Recommended Posts

The festival had started to get cold, which wasn't altogether unusual. It was getting into late fall. It had started to get a little quiet, which also wasn't unusual since the festival was winding down as it got dark. Then it began to get foggy. Not a natural kind of fog, this fog clung to you, thickened the longer it sat near the ground, and before long festival-goers realized they could barely see their hands in front of their faces. But by then it was too late. By then the sing-songy voice began to flicker around the festival, haunting and high pitched, and full of mischief.

Trick or Treat...

...Smell My Feet. Give Me Something...

...GOOD TO EAT!

A flickering blue fire, almost a will-o-wisp, darted about the festival. It landed on stands and devoured candies with the wrappers still on them. It bowled over people and children, snatching bags of goodies from their hands and pouring them into a mouth that seemed too wide on its tiny face. And as it ate, it grew. Bigger and bigger, until it stood taller than the tallest pavilion. Until it could match a tiny skyscraper. The entire time singing its grisly song into the misty night.

"If you dont....I don't care....I'll eat you down to your underwear!"

It had been a perfect festival for Madoka, a rare chance for her to unwind and have a good laugh at the pranks other people pulled, and the pranks that went horribly wrong. She didn't give herself much time off, so it was nice when it was enforced; she didn't feel like she was letting herself down or getting soft. When the fog rolled in, she thought it was another prank at first. The eerie song was grating, creeping up her spine like alien hands rubbing painfully across her eardrums. When she caught sight of the gargantuan specter, ethereal mist streaming off its body, she knew this wasn't a trick. Its alien presence preyed on her mind, forcing her hand to tighten on her sword's hilt. There was no thought of running though, no possibility of retreat. She'd been enjoying herself, damn it, and that was worth fighting for. She drew her blade, standing defiantly up at the monster as panicked crowds ran for the hills. "Hey, ugly!" she shouted. "I've got something for you to taste!"

Hindering Skills:

Defender

Description: A Defender's past experiences or loving nature will not allow other's to suffer in front of them. A Defender will do anything possible to save their allies from harm, throwing themselves between their allies and enemies to do so even if they know it could kill them.

Effect: During this character's turn, if a non-clone ally is the target of an unresolved attack that did not target the user as well, this character takes the attack instead. This character may only apply 50% of their total defensive modifiers. Only triggers once per battle per ally.

Cost: +2

Hopeless Romantic

Effect: Whenever this character is afflicted with the status effect 'Charmed', increase its duration by one (1) turn. This may cause 'Charmed' to exceed its natural turn durations. Additionally, whenever this character is afflicted with 'Charmed' and is attacked by the character that afflicted the 'Charmed' status effect, increase that attack's chance to critically strike by 10%.

Description: Some individuals’ fascination with the objects of their desire is something more innocuous, yet equally debilitating: the desire for romance. A hopeless romantic is often left dumbstruck and flabbergasted by the beauty of those around them, finding solace only within the candle-lit fantasies of their imagination.

Cost: +1

Chakra Burn

Effect: For every 25 chakra used in a technique, the user takes 5 damage

Description: Your chakra has a corrosive nature to it, burning you whenever you use it. You can ignore the pain at times, but if you use too much it becomes overwhelming.

Cost: +2

"Thunder is good, thunder is impressive; but it is lightning that does the work."

Description: It's unknown how the sturdy, metal plates that make up this set of leg-armor has existed, though they appear to predate the founding of the Hidden Villages, and are remniscent of the style of the Warring States Era. Some place the leg armor back to even earlier points in history, but what is known is that the armor has always seemed to embue its wearer with unnatural quickness, almost as if they had lightning coursing through their veins. Those who wear the Lightning Greaves are often able to move faster, and with more agility than even the quickest foe.

Main Weapon:

Kyōshinken | 共振剣 | Resonant Blade

Type: Odachi

Size: Large

Level: 70

Attributes: Sharpened Edge Rank 3, Link Formation, Inlaid Element [Sound], Elemental Resonance [Sound], Chakra Blade, Affliction; [Exposed], Unique

Special Abilities:

Resonance

Description: One of Kyoshinken's unique properties it is incredible resilience, especially under the aegis of a properly trained wielder. The blade is so durable that in the throes of battle its intense vibration can provide a kind of sonic barrier, protecting it from crippling damage.

Effect: When Kyoshinken would be destroyed by a 'Destroy Weapon' effect and its wielder has three or more Thunder Charges, the user may choose to negate the effect. If they choose to negate the effect, they are reduced to zero Thunder Charges.

High-Frequency Cuts

Description: One of the unique capabilities of Kyoshinken is it's tendency to vibrate while in use, especially when used in concert with certain techniques. This high frequency vibration turns any hit into a series of dozens of individual cuts, compromising any armour the target might be wearing and hammering through with comparatively little effort.

Effect: When this is weapon is used as part of a [Sound] attack, the target only applies 30% of defensive bonuses granted by items.

Description: An oversized katana commissioned by Nakayama Madoka upon her promotion to Genin and arrival in Iwagakure, Kyōshinken is a solid, durable blade made of the finest steel Iwagakure can mine. While its great weight and length demands that it be wielded in two hands, its single edge means that the bearer can rest the blade's back against their shoulder for ease of carrying. Honed to the finest edge possible and tempered to be virtually indestructible, Kyōshinken cost almost the entirety of Madoka's savings from her activities in Metropolis. It also incorporates a chain-link coil inside the weapon's grip, allowing the blade to be detached and attack from range and retract at the wielder's command.

Kokuren Akihiro reached an open plain as the mist started to roll in, making visibility not the best of all situations, but being from Kiri this made it a usual Monday. Pausing after every third step and listening, he imagined that he was stalking a Hoshigaki or some other animal for a meal… instead he heard the oddest eerie voice that held a sing song cadence and pitch.

‘Hey, that’s my line!’ he thought as he continued to move forward until he reached a momentary opening and seen that he was not indeed alone.

There was a ravishing redhead with a large sword that was giving a rather good taunt. A quick survey of her physique, and that of the creature which unfortunately was not a Hoshigaki ‘I guess no shark fin soup tonight’

Looking at the creature, he smiled while his head leaned to the left as if looking at some type of performance art, framing his hands in front of him so that he could place it in a box ‘You know… those small arms and legs takes away from that big head of yours…’

No matter what time of year it was, one thing as consistently with the Hyuuga. He was not a fan of festivals, though it he didn’t mind watching from afar on top of a cliff somewhere. They were far too loud, obnoxious and far too many folk surrounding you for his liking. But they did deserve one. The world they knew of was constantly changing and of late it had seemed as though every ounce of peace of mind and a break had to be fought for and so committed to his tradition, watching from afar with his Byakugan as everyone partied their tails off into the night. At least that was what everyone was hoping for. As it had gotten later a suspicious fog had begun to cover the area, causing Takeshi to stand on his feet in amusement. “Someone playing a prank I imagine…jerks.” He initially muttered, but that wasn’t the case as he caught glimpse of an oddly shaped shadow zipping throughout the general area. “The heck?” If that wasn’t enough of a bad sign he soon heard the screams of those below, causing him to immediately leap off the ledge towards the festival.

“The heck is going on?”

The mist had was disrupting his vision just enough so he couldn’t see all the details of what was happening but silhouette after silhouette of people running or being mowed down enough to make him speed up, soon entering the zone of the attack, pausing as he found himself standing in front of what was causing the mayhem. A large grotesque creature, unlike anything he’s seen before. But one thing was certain, it had to be stopped. And there were others who had seemed to step up for the same reason.

“Not sure what brought you here, exactly, but its your unlucky day.”

Dumpty saw the little humans trying to call it out and insult it. How cute. The massive creature grinned and looked them all in the eyes, a feat both impressive and sort of not possible, but its gaze never wavered from any of them as it scooped up a food stand with a human huddling behind it. The flickering blue flames blazed as the creature upended both human and stand directly into its gaping maw. It crunched noisily before laughing in a high pitched giggle. "Little heroes, long lost three, try to make a pass at me!"

The monster hopped happily from foot to foot, its massive weight causing the ground to jiggle with its movements. "Hope I'll give up, or start to cry? But they don't know THEY'RE GONNA DIE!" As the monster giggled out its haunting rhyme, a tiny piece of the blue flames lit behind the jagged grip dripped to the ground. It seemed to burn up when it touched the ground, whisk away into nothingness, but the malice of the monster's intent remained behind in that little patch of soil, which began to wither immediately.

(Fixed, not sure what that was about)

Takeshi couldn’t help but be uneasy with the creatures lame riddles. Though it was bouncing around heavily like it was a jester, it’s sinister intent behind its words were very real, and hopefully the Hyuuga’s makeshift partners would realize this as well and increase their guard. As it continued to go off in riddles it left blue flames on the ground that seemed to disappear almost immediately, but its effect didn’t. The soil beneath the monster began to wither and decay. “Okay we need to stop that.” Takeshi told himself, activating his Byakugan before taking stance, ready to fight.

Byakugan Evasion - Rank [ 4 ]
Effect: While the Byakugan is active, all techniques with the descriptors ‘Area Of Effect’ or ‘Dynamic Trap’ of 'x' rank or below that target a character with this skill are treated as if they were regular attacks. ‘x’ being equivalent to the character’s rank in this skill. (1; Genin, 2; Chunin, etc) Techniques with the ‘Forbidden; Powerful’ descriptor are not affected by this skill. Techniques used by a combatant whose Speed or Accuracy statistic is 2x greater than the wielder's Evasion statistic are not affected by this skill.
Description: The 360 degree sight granted by the Byakugan makes it nigh impossible to pin down a wielder. Those with the White Eye always seem to be able to find a hole in the enemies attack, and slip free where others would be hopelessly trapped. Naturally though, a Hyūga of Genin rank confronted by an extremely powerful or fast attack would be unable to perform as well as a highly trained wielder of the bloodline, but with practice wielders are capable of becoming extremely adept in the evasive maneuvers common among Hyūga clansmen.

Akihiro looked around, and saw that now there were three ninjas facing off against the haunting menace in front of them, and it was not happy that they were mouthing off. It then produced another rhyme, and it was not as if it wasn’t good or eerie, but so far he dealt with a life of pain and torture before even dawning his vest as a Chuunin of Kiri.

He also was a creature of an odd flame, leaves fire with its odd steps, and a rather decent appetite as it ate a scared human and a food cart. Akihiro wondered if that was the funnel cake cart, but then started to concentrate at the scene at hand.

The rhyming scheme made him chuckle a bit, even in the sight of the horror which was the large head with baby arms and legs, it had to be a dangerous creature, even if it couldn’t wipe its own ass or cross its arms. Instead, Akihiro formed hand seals rapidly as from behind him a figure stepped out of hiding and stood right next to him. It was a perfect copy of himself, and it looked at the creature as curiously as the master had done.

The master and clone of Akihiro turned their heads left and right, looking at the members of their group with a face of confusion and said ‘Maybe we rhyme to it?’

Then one of the figures said ‘I don’t want it to seem like we are trying to sass… but you were the one which said you wanted to eat ass… You already ate a human and then a cart, so I am scared to see how does thou fart!’

Madoka looked around at the other two ninja who stepped up to fight the behemoth, grinning fiercely. Even though she was definitely badass enough to take the monster solo, teaming up with other badasses would just make the beatdown even sweeter. She rolled her head to the side until her neck cracked, limbering up her fingers before drawing her Odachi. She scowled as the demon ate one of the few people who’d stayed behind; admirable, but you needed strength to back up bravery. All the same, she’d take its head in the guy’s honour. At least he hadn’t run like a little wimp.

She swung her blade once or twice, getting ready to begin. It wanted to sing to them? Fine. “You know, at first I was wondering whether you’d turn inside out if we took that dumb mouth and made you swallow yourself. Now, though, well. You want a song?” Power flared outwards from her body as the first Gate opened, sending her hair snapping through the air like a crimson banner. Kyoshinken began to sing, vibrating in her hands like a buzzsaw. “Sit back and listen. I’ll play you a damn song.” She made a piercing, trilling whistle, shaping her chakra into human form. Two copies of her snapped into being, simultaneously silencing the noise of their creation. The Harmony Clones gazed up dispassionately at the monster, stepping between the threat and their creator.

Slight breakdown and tearing has been noted in muscle tissue after having been effected by the Gate of Opening, and fatigue has been shown to set in quickly.

Effect: When activated, the user's Taijutsu, Speed, and Evasion stats are increased by 2x. The user's level being equivalent to x. The statistical bonus granted by this skill may never be less than +20 at any time. As an upkeep cost, the user must pay 5% of their total Stamina Points every turn. This skill may only be taken by ninja of level 10 or higher.

Restriction: Level 10

Cost: -2 Jonin SP, 10-post training

Resounding Thunder
Effect: Whenever this character opens one of the Eight Gates, roll a D8. If the number rolled is equal to or lower than the number of the Gate opened, the user gains one Ox or Thunder Charge. On a turn that this skill grants the user a Ox or Thunder Charge, Mountain Ox and Thundering Auroch Style techniques will only give the user a Ox or Thunder Charge on a successful hit.
Description: As more of the Eight Gates are unsealed and Madoka's power grows, the shockwaves of each Gate's release can be compressed and harnessed, accelerating her ascent to full power. The more powerful the Gate, the easier these tremors are to harness and use.
Requires: Thundering Auroch Style

Cost: -1

Gate Mastery III

Bloodline: N/A [Requires Permission]

Description: A true Gate Master is rare in the world. Few can accomplish the task of understanding their body at its fundamental cores. Knowing your extreme limits, and being able to release that extra ounce of power from them is a power few can truly say they possess. But to be a Master is to know this power and more.

Effect: For each rank in this skill, when determining positive side effects of the Eight Celestial Gates, the user’s level is considered 10 levels higher than what it actually is.

Restrictions: The User MUST have unlocked the gate that corresponds to each rank in order to upgrade this skill (Rank 1 requires Kaimon, Rank 2 requires Kyumon, etc).

Cost: -1

The happy go lucky creature swiveled its entire body to the sounds of several voices, the flames seeming to grow closer to white when it grew angry, and closer to blue with it was annoyed or bored. Madoka and Akihiro, by and large, received little attention or comment from the beast. But Takeshi's eyes activated and the monster locked on, as if smelling a threat. It seemed even monsters understood what the Byakugan was. "Ten men or one, it's all the same, you all will die when you play my game!" The monster giggled again, this time inhaling before breathing out a wide cone of the bluish flame in its mouth. It aimed to wash over clones and heroes alike, roasting them to wonderful golden brown colors. Perhaps their liquids would even caramelize, bringing out that crunchy sweetness human bodies seriously lacked.

Harmonic Clones

Madoka's two clones, nothing but sound formed into the likeness of a human, burst instantly when confronted with the wave of unholy fire. They destabilized with a violent shriek, exploding in a directed pulse of piercing sound that assailed their attacker, deafening it momentarily.

Fire. So unimaginative, so uninspired. Enormous ghost-monster? That was credible.  But everything used fire. Why not branch out a bit? Was it some kind of discount sale on fire powers? But she could have ignored that if the demon hadn't so blatantly turned away from her and ignored her completely. She fumed at the dismissal, gripping her blade's hilt hard enough that the worn leather creaked. She took a decisive step forward, raising one hand to ward off the meager wave of flames that had devastated her clones, suffering only a scant few burns. No matter, they were flimsy and little more than a noisy distraction. Her sword sang as she triggered the chain link cable installed in its grip, a powerful swing throwing the blade through the air on an ever-lengthening chain, slashing like a bladed flail at the monster's misshapen eyes. She had no idea if a ghost monster could be hurt or blinded by a mortal blade, but she was certainly intending to find out. "Hey, ugly!" she shouted, trying to reclaim the monster's attention. Kyoshinken sang in agreement, cutting a screaming swathe through the air. "Here's a game for you: Lights out!"

Path of the Warlord
Effect: All Response Phase Jutsu used against Taijutsu, Weapon or Basic Attacks from the user have an additional 10% chance to fail.

Steadfast Durability IV

Ex: Genin techniques cost -5 Stamina, Chuunin techniques cost -10 Stamina, etc.

Description: Your stamina knows no bounds! Your body is able to push harder and for longer durations than that of your companions.

Cost: -1

Ranks: 4/10

Kyumon // Second Gate

Description: The Second Gate is the other gate located within the brain. This gate limits the production of endorphins and keeps the heart-rate in check. Releasing this gate floods the body with endorphins, relieving feelings of pain and fatigue, despite the continual breakdown of the muscles. An increased heart-rate allows oxygen to reach the muscles more quickly, preventing oxygen debt and keeping lactic acid from building up within the muscle tissue.

Effect: After activating, the user gains the ability to recover 3x Health Points and Stamina as a free action during their setup phase at any point during the battle while this gate is open. The user's level being equivalent to x. This increase may not exceed the user's maximum in either stat pool, and this ability may only be used once per battle. This skill may only be taken by ninja of level 20 or higher.

Restriction: Level 20

Cost: -2 Jonin SP, 10-post training

Thundering Auroch Style

Requirements: Kaimon, Mountain Ox Style, Nakayama Madoka

Effect: While active, all of the user's Ox Charges are converted to Thunder Charges. As long as the style remains active, all Taijutsu and Weapon Attacks are [Sound] element in addition to their other effects. The user cannot apply Wind or Lightning's effects to attacks through this effect. Thunder Charges are gained after a Thundering Auroch attack is used not if it hits. At the end of a turn where the user did not use a Thundering Auroch Technique, the user loses one Thunder Charge. For each consecutive turn where a Thundering Auroch Technique is not used, the user loses an additional Thunder Charge. Should the Eight Gates be deactivated, Thundering Auroch Style is immediately deactivated as well and all Thunder Charges revert to Ox Charges. Thundering Auroch Style is considered Mountain Ox Style for all purposes and Thunder Charges may be used instead of Ox Charges to activate effects or techniques, but may not pay for both Mountain Ox and Thundering Auroch abilities in the same turn. The user also gains the following effects depending on their number of charges:

0 Charges: No bonus.

1 Charge: [Sound] Element Taijutsu and Weapon Attacks ignore 6% of the target's Defense.
2 Charges: [Sound] Element Taijutsu and Weapon Attacks ignore 12% of the target's Defense.
3 Charges: [Sound] Element Taijutsu and Weapon Attacks ignore 18% of the target's Defense.
4 Charges: [Sound] Element Taijutsu and Weapon Attacks ignore 24% of the target's Defense.
5 Charges: [Sound] Element Taijutsu and Weapon Attacks ignore 30% of the target's Defense.

In addition, the user may choose to spend 'x' Thunder Charges as a free action in their Main Phase when attacking a 'Deafened' target to increase the amount subtracted from the target's dodge roll by 'Deafened' by 7x.

Cost: -3, 10-post training.

Resounding Thunder
Effect: Whenever this character opens one of the Eight Gates, roll a D8. If the number rolled is equal to or lower than the number of the Gate opened, the user gains one Ox or Thunder Charge. Dodge

"Such an odd bunch we have all gathered here. But they seem to be more than capable, which is what we need right about now." Takeshi said with a slight smirk on his face. One of the defenders was rmthing right along with the creature while the other was a little more serious, though a causal air surrounded him too. When the monster began to giggle the Hyuuga turned his attention on the creature once more, who was prepping to go on the offensive against the group. "What do you plan on doing with such tiny flames?" Takeshi asked unimpressed. He had come across his fair share of leaf ninja, particularly the Uchiha so a little colored fire wasn't terrible intimidating, even as it shot forth towards the jounin. Takeshi had simply pivoted to the side, avoiding the attack before prepping his own. "I suppose its my turn now huh."

Bursting forward the ninja had thrusted palm towards the monsters chest, attempting to cause some pain.

Hakke Kuboda | 八卦凹撃 | Eight Trigrams Concave Hammer
Type: Taijutsu [ Jūken | Hijutsu; Hyūga ]
Rank: Chūnin
Cost: 75 Stamina | 75 Chakra
Damage: 15
Effect: Target is Vulnerable, Exposed, and Stunned for one (1) turn.
Description: Hakke Kuboda is a technique that builds upon the basic Palm Bottom and serves as a bridge between less advanced Gentle Fist Maneuvers and their more advanced counterparts, such as Hakke Kūshō. The user will strike the center of their opponent’s chest with a deliberately concave palm. Though the initial damage dealt by this technique is minor, the shape of the user’s hand allows them to apply a great deal of chakra after they have made contact and then simply thrust the center of their palm forward, ensuring that they deal a considerable blow to the target without wasting chakra with a pre-emptive saturation of their strike.

• Steadfast Durability Rank 8
Stamina-Based Techniques cost 5 less Stamina per ninja rank of the technique. Minimum of 5 Stamina must always be paid.

You may choose "Styleless" Taijutsu as your chosen style, which would include any Taijutsu that does not fall under a specific type of fighting style. Basic Attacks deal a bonus +3 damage per strike (per rank).

Total Ranks: 4
Cost: -4

Byakugan Targeting - Rank [ -4]
Effect: While the Byakugan is active, all techniques used by a character with this skill have their critical strike range increased by +5% per rank in this skill. This skill does not effect targets whose Evasion statistic is 2x higher than the character's Accuracy statistic.
Description: The Hyūga clan prizes the Byakugan's ability to see into the enemy body, and was even the inspiration behind their hallmark, fighting style. This ability, allows a wielder to target the weaknesses within the body almost as naturally as breathing. Like many facets of the Byakugan's power, this ability takes much precision and honing to make it deadly, and only with experience is a wielder able to effectively pin-point and attack the weakest places on the human body.
Total Ranks: 4
Cost: -4

Gentle Fist Mastery - Rank IV
Effect: When performing a basic attack or technique with the ‘Jūken’ descriptor, a character with this skill may increase the base cost of that attack by an additional 'x' Chakra to increase the damage of that attack by 2x. The value of 'x' may never exceed 320. Additional damage dealt in this way is treated as part of the attack's base damage. Damage dealt in this way may exceed the maximum damage for a technique's rank. When activating the Byakugan, a character with this skill generates 1 additional 'Trigram Charge'.
Description: As wielders of the Byakugan and practitioners of the Gentle Fist fighting style, members of the Hyūga clan are able to enhance the damage dealt by their attacks while utilizing their clan's kekkei genkai. As their strength grows and the precision of their Byakugan becomes more accurate the damage that they are able to deal to the organs and muscles of the body becomes much more potent.
Requirements: Byakugan Vision; Rank IV
Cost: -1

‘Well, this just got interesting…’ Akihiro mentioned as he looked at their foe. He had not noticed the growth in size, but all of a sudden it was… huge. He shared a look with his clone before looking towards their target, and that was all it took. The large purple people eater released a wave of flame of a golden brown color. The clone was the first to react; leaping directly over it and allowing it to pass through. The Master, not so much. Akihiro leapt into the air a fraction of a moment later, and knowing that he was going to get hit.

Years of abuse by the hands of the Hoshigaki prepared him for bracing for a blow, by instinct he drew his legs up and crossed his arms to cover his face into a fetal position, taking the damage on his shins and forearms. The attack slammed against him in midair, propelling him backwards a few meters. Akihiro opened up as he landed in a slide backwards in a three point position with his left hand on the ground aiding in stopping the slide.

When he rose from the position; Akihiro surveyed the area once more. The clones of the kunoichi were gone, the grey eyed ninja along with the Akihiro’s clone both were unscathed from the attack. He moved forward back into position and regained the space which he lost in the hit. The fire attack singed his limbs for minimal damage because of the block, but the grass and trees smoldered slightly to add to the mist surrounding him. Akihiro wiped his mouth and straightened his tee over his bluish skin and spat to the side. None of that made it more difficult to see the monster in front of him with its glowing maw and eyes.

‘Go!’ the clone growled as he started on the attack strategy which they used often as the opening gambit. Forming the hand seals in the effort of trapping the beast in its place.

Akihiro nodded and formed a different set of hand seals of his own. He started to generate an aura of chakra around his right fist while infusing it with the element of his birthright: Rust. The form which it took appeared that of the crystal as it ebbed and flowed around his arm, but the softened and flowed again as fumes, materialized and then deconstructing rapidly within the confinement of the aura.

‘Seisan!’ he growled as he aimed it at the much larger target and fired a turret of purplish energy towards the monstrous poet. ‘Let’s burn together!’

Path of the Elementalist: When using Ninjutsu techniques with Combinatorial Elements, the user may choose to apply an additional bonus from one of the Subtle Elements skill required to learn it, if they own it.

Corrosion

Effect: You take x damage every turn, starting the turn that this attack hits. This can stack with itself. Corrosion damage may only be healed if the entire Corrosion damage the character has taken is healed at once. The value of y is equal to the CP cost of x as if it were damage.

Genjutsu Magnifier R3: All Genjutsu cost 40 less Chakra and do 40  total stat addition & subtraction

Rotting Flesh
This character's defense may not reduce total damage less than 20%.

Each ninja attacked, and each ninja struck true. Heaps of rust, solid strikes to his body, and one of two sword swings hammered into the gargantuan monster, who tumbled backwards onto his round back. Takeshi's hit, especially brutal, seemed to collapse in a portion of the monster's body, which seemed to be a bit flimsier than it first appeared. Apparently the monster was primarily balloon-like, the flames producing a hot air that kept his rounded body inflated. Takeshi's punch seemed to knock a large portion of that air out of him, the force of that move toppling the monster onto its oversized, rotund back.

A family hiding beneath a pavilion was murdered as he fell, crushing it.

Much like a turtle, the pumpkin-like monster fidgeted and whirled, rocking from side to side and struggling to rise to his feet. Most of the wounds to hits body seemed superficial, even the large dent punched into it by Takeshi was already reinflating. But Madoka's sword stroke seemed to have dealt some lasting damage. Where her blade had struck true, a wide gash was opened in the monster, and something was pouring from the hole onto the ground beneath him.

Stuffed with Goodies
When this character is struck by a bladed weapon of any sort this character must roll a 1d20. On a result of 1-5, a Candy falls out of the monster. On a result of 6-10, a Ninja Tool falls from the monster. As a Set Up phase action, any character may obtain 1 item dropped in this way. However, each character may only obtain 3 items in this way and items gained this way may not be used in the same battle.

"What did you do? What did you do! You dirty evil not-chocolate little! Help me up! Help me up right now!!!"

Dumpty seemed less inclined to rhyme when he was flat on his back, bleeding weapons and in serious pain. In fact, he seemed to be throwing a small tantrum, much like...a five year old. Were the ninja fighting a child monster?

Madoka felt oddly little resistance from her blade as she cut through the monster, a blast of air that was almost sickly sweet enough to make her retch. She groaned as her blade retracted back to her, cursing that she hadn’t given herself enough room while she attacked. The three of them had knocked it onto its back, where it wiggled ineffectively. Madoka rested the blade over her shoulder for a moment, head tilted quizzically to the side. “Yeah, I don’t think I’m going to help you. I mean, you probably just killed someone. Again.” Seeing that the blue fire monster was still there, slowly reinflating, she sighed. “I was honestly expecting more. Right, let’s get this over with.” Madoka drew back her blade to strike again, but hesitated when she saw something like steel gleam as it fell from the monster’s body. A weapon? She gestured at it with her magnetic grip, hoping to pull it closer.

A feral smile took over her face, matched by a witch’s cackle. “Ah, so you’re a piñata? That makes this a lot more fun!” Power flared again as her skin turned red, opening the Gate of Life She passed a hand across her blade, empowering it even further as she swung twice, trying to cut another prize from its body. At least the balloon monster had lived long for her to reach full throttle.

ooc: Using Silver Sigil’s Magnetic Grip to try and acquire the Kite Shuriken as a free action. Worth a shot! XD

Sky-Breaking Sword | Sora Setsudanken

Type: Taijutsu [Thundering Auroch | Weapon; Odachi | Multi-Strike]

Rank: Jonin

Cost: 230 Stamina

Damage: 190 per strike

Effect: This technique has two strikes. When using this technique, you may pay x Thunder Charges to increase this technique’s Critical Hit range by 5x.

Description: One of the most brutal and devastating techniques of the Thundering Auroch style, Sky-Breaking Sword is a pair of slashes so swift that the pressure wave of the swing cuts the air itself, bisecting anything along the plane of the attack. If the user is incautious or inexperienced they may cut indiscriminately, making control a necessity.

JP: 6

User: Nakayama Madoka

Target: Dumpty

Damage: 190 * 1.35 (Aggressive Martial Artist, Wind Specialty) = 257 + 45 (Ranged Tai Mod/2) + 60 (Ranged Acc Mod) + 20 (Tai Weights III/2) + 40 (Warrior IV) + 15 (Martial Artist II/2) = 437 * 1.15 (Scorched) = 503 per strike

Chance to Hit: 60 (Base) + 15 (Dumpty Enlarged) = 97 (Acc Mod, Mist) = 172%

Cost: 230 - 40 (Tai Weights III) - 60 (Steadfast IV) = 130 Stamina

Charges: Madoka spends 2 Thunder Charges to increase the amount subtracted by Deafened against this attack by 14, to a total of 24!

Effects: If hit, Dumpty is 'Deafened' for one turn [Sound via Thundering Auroch Style]. Dumpty only applies 30% of defense granted by items [Kyoshinken, High-Frequency Blade]. Response Phase Jutsu have +10% fail chance [Path of the Warlord]. This attack only generates a Thunder Charge on a hit, instead of when used [Resounding Thunder].

Critical Range: 1 (Base) + 5 (Concentration) = 6

Note: Used Link Formation to make technique a Ranged Attack.

Skills Used:

Spoiler

Aggressive Martial Artist [Mountain Ox]
Effect: Any time a character with this skill spends 'Charges' to affect a Taijutsu technique of [Mountain Ox] Style, the base damage of that technique is increased by 10% per charge spent.
Description: While each style of taijutsu is different, those who practice those martial arts also differ greatly. Some are reactive, choosing to counter-attack or apply their opponent's momentum against them. There are others though that generate momentum purely on their own. These shinobi are the intimidating and aggressive bruisers who dominate the battlefield. Their attacks, perhaps not as subtle as other fighters, tend to be impressively strong.
Cost: -2 (-0)

Monkey Grip
Description: Some shinobi have honed their strength and skill when wielding a large weapon to such a degree that it they have gained the ability to wield such weapons with a single hand.
Effect: This character may now wield Large Weapons in a single hand.
Requirements: Warrior (10 Ranks) OR Path of the Warrior: Weapon Warrior
Cost: -1

Martial Artist (Mountain Ox Style) II
Effect: For each rank of this skill choose a Taijutsu Style. Taijutsu of the chosen Style deal a bonus +5 damage per ninja rank of the technique (per skill rank). You may choose "Styleless" Taijutsu as your chosen style, which would include any Taijutsu that does not fall under a specific type of fighting style.
Description: You put the art in martial arts. Your expertise with the style that you possess puts others to shame and enemies to the ground.
Cost: -1
Ranks: 2/10 (Path of the Warrior)

Warrior (Odachi) IV
Description: A skilled and practiced veteran of your craft.
Effect: For each rank of this skill choose a specific weapon type. A weapon attack from the chosen weapon will deal a bonus +5 Damage per strike (per rank). Double this bonus for large weapon strikes.
Cost: -2
Ranks: 4/10 (Path of the Warrior)

Path of the Warlord
Effect: All Response Phase Jutsu used against Taijutsu, Weapon or Basic Attacks from the user have an additional 10% chance to fail.
War Mastery: (Choose One)
Advanced Weapon Warrior: May take 'Strategist' for 1 skill point. May take 'One-Handed Seals' for 1 skill point without training. Your weapons may be upgraded to level 120 (works like a level 100 weapon for anyone without this path).
Requirements: Chuunin. Must have Path of the Warrior.
Cost: -1

Blademaster; [Odachi]
Effect: When this skill is chosen, name one weapon type. Weapon Techniques specifying the named type of weapon now benefit from the skill 'Warrior'.
Description: For some individuals, the act of wielding their preferred weapon becomes a form of art. Brutality and elegance combines in a display of violence so poetic and stirring that legends of their exploits are told for generations.
Requirements: Path of the Warlord; Advanced Weapon Warrior
Cost: -2

Steadfast Durability IV

Effect: Stamina-Based Techniques cost 5 less Stamina per ninja rank of the technique. This shares ranks with the skill 'Inner Calm'.

Ex: Genin techniques cost -5 Stamina, Chuunin techniques cost -10 Stamina, etc.

Description: Your stamina knows no bounds! Your body is able to push harder and for longer durations than that of your companions.

Cost: -1

Ranks: 4/10

Seimon // Third Gate

Description: Located in the spine, the Third Gate presides over the flow of information within the body. By releasing neural inhibitors, the body is able to correlate its motions flawlessly, each part of the body moving in perfect unison. The undammed highways of the nervous system cause damage to the body though, as the electrical impulses from the brain are magnified to a greater extent. At this gate, the coloration of the skin changes to a deep crimson, revealing the enhanced blood/oxygen levels within the body.

Effect: When activated, the user's Taijutsu, Speed, and Evasion stats are increased by 2x. The user's level being equivalent to x. The statistical bonus granted by this skill may never be less than +90 at any time. As an upkeep cost, the user must pay 3% of their total Health Points every turn. After a battle in which the user opens Seimon, a full day (RL) and no less 3 days (IC) must be spent in hospitalization and a recovery training of 1000 words must be fulfilled. This skill may only be taken by ninja of level 30 or higher.

Restriction: Level 30

Cost: -2

On a turn that this skill grants the user an Ox or Thunder Charge, Mountain Ox and Thundering Auroch Style techniques will only give the user an Ox or Thunder Charge on a successful hit.

Cost: -1

Ranks: 3/3

Attack landed so +1 Charges

3 Charges total*

Takeshi's punch had connected with the monster, though he couldn't tell if it did much of anything. The impression the jonin had left in its body had quickly dissipated, and startled the Hyuuga enough for him to retreat backwards.  "Interesting. I wonder how hard I have to hit you for you to stay down." Takeshi asked curiously with a smirk. The warm up round was coming to a close and the boy had loosened up just enough to really start letting it all out. As he was getting ready for his next attack he heard Modoka crack a joke, chuckling slightly at it. "I never got a chance to ask before we started going at this thing. What are you guys names?" Before they had a chance to properly answer Takeshi began the build up chakra throughout his body before leaping forward. Clenching his fist chakra had begun to envelop it before crashing down towards the monster.

Main Phase

Unmei no ken | Fist of Fate | 運命の拳
Type: Taijutsu | Jyuken | [Hijutsu; Hyuuga Takeshi]
Rank: Jounin
Cost: 124 Chakra, 124 Stamina + 2 Trigram Charges
Damage: 275
Effect: The target of this technique is afflicted with 2 turns of the status effects ‘Metabolic Breakdown and Damaged Tenketsu; 1-5. The user of this technique may elect to pay 1 additional ‘Trigram Charge’ when performing this technique to instead inflict 2 turns of the status effects ‘Damaged Tenketsu; 1-7
Description: Jyuken...the famous fighting style of the esteemed Hyuuga clan is said to be one formed with grace, power and precision in mind. Focusing on achieving those three things leads to a more efficient fighter, but can be difficult to sustain for some over the course of a battle. Unmei no Ken was the result of Hyuuga Takeshi abandoning most of those principals, wanting to commit to devastating his enemies externally as much as he could internally. Removing the precision and finesse of placing his chakra into points in his finger the ninja instead focuses the disrupting chakra around his fist, which disperses upon impact to damage the nearby tenketsu, making it difficult for his opponent to restore their reserves of chakra while leaving quite the mark on his opponent.

• Vishnu, the Protector
Taijutsu from the user will deal an additional 30% base damage. This multiplier, in this case and this case only, allows you to break the base damage cap. The taker of this skill may not use Ninjutsu and may not have any skills that give negative effects towards Ninjutsu abilities.

-4

Cost: -1

So far the battle was going well, or their approximation of what a battle in their favor should appear. Their attacks were hitting and now the monster was on its back. Unfortunately, there were more casualties in the battle as he crashed on a position which villagers were hiding behind. This was becoming a problem, but not for them, for the villagers. If they continued to stay in the area, then they were now part of the fixtures as the trees, the vendor positions, and any other obstacle which was on the field. At least one good thing came out of it, the red haired kunoichi with the oppressively large sword connected and it coughed up objects which neither Akihiro or the clone could visualize fast enough before the kunoichi picked up her booty.

Soon, Akihiro and his clone took flanking positions. Each of them had their role to play in the battle, and his was neither that of a skilled martial artist or weapons master… so he simply stayed on the flanks of the battle and launched another attack

‘We are placing you on a meal plan!’ he howled as he formed the same set of seals and aimed his hand at their nemesis and fired a turret of purplish energy towards the monstrous poet. ‘Take this with all the fixings!’

Equipment targeted and struck by this effect six ( 6 ) total times in the same combat are considered "Destroyed"; items with the Indestructible attribute are considered Unusable for the remainder of combat. Ranks in this skill may be taken once every 20 levels.

Vertigo - R2: Whenever this character is afflicted with the status effect [bleeding], they have a 20x% chance, rolled in their Response Phase, to automatically release [sanguine Vertigo Gas] as a free action in their following Main Phase, where x is equal to their current rank in this skill. [sanguin Vertigo Gas] is a Gaseous Poison that inflicts Dizzy for a number of turns equal to the duration of the [bleeding] effect that triggered this skill. This may not allow any instance of Dizzy to exceed its natural turn limitation.

Psychedelic: Genjutsu-Ninjutsu hybrid techniques used by this character have an additional 1% chance to hit per 100 points of Ninjutsu that this character possesses.

Combinatorial [Rust]: May use Rust Element techniques. Rust techniques deal 15% of their base damage as 'Poison' damage on the following turn, rounded up. In addition, the user may choose to apply the bonus from one of the Subtle Elements skills required to learn this element if they own it. 'Subtle Elements; Fire' damage from this element is dealt as 'Poison' damage instead of 'Burning' damage. Requirements: Subtle Elements; Fire, Earth, Water

Subtle Elements [Fire]: May use Fire element techniques. All Fire techniques deal an additional 5% of their total damage in 'Burning' damage on the following turn, rounded up.

Subtle Elements [Earth]: May use Earth element techniques. Whenever an Earth Element technique is used, the user gains +8 to their Block Range on the following turn.

Caustic Chemistry: The attributes of the Combinatorial; Rust element are increased by 10%

Ninjutsu Mastery [Rust] R10: For each rank of this skill choose a Ninjutsu Element. Ninjutsu of the chosen type of Element will deal a bonus +5 damage per ninja rank of the technique (per skill rank). You may choose "Void" Ninjutsu as your chosen element, which would include any Ninjutsu that does not fall under a specific type of element. Ex: Genin techniques gain +5 damage, Chuunin techniques gain +10 damage, etc.

Inner Calm R10: Chakra-Based Techniques cost 5 less Chakra per ninja rank of the technique.

Tree Climbing Training: All Ninjutsu techniques deal +10% of their base damage

Path of the Elementalist: When using Ninjutsu techniques with Combinatorial Elements, the user may choose to apply an additional bonus from one of the Subtle Elements skill required to learn it, if they own it.

Corrosion

Effect: You take x damage every turn, starting the turn that this attack hits. This can stack with itself. Corrosion damage may only be healed if the entire Corrosion damage the character has taken is healed at once. The total Corrosion damage in a single technique cannot exceed the damage cap for that technique when added with the regular damage dealt along with damage from Bleeding/Burning/Poison. The value of y is equal to the CP cost of x as if it were damage.

Ninjutsu Amplifier R3: All Ninjutsu cost 40 less Chakra and do 40 more damage

Genjutsu Magnifier R3: All Genjutsu cost 40 less Chakra and do 40  total stat addition & subtraction

ooc: @tygerin I don't think you updated your Turn Order when you made your last post.

Feeling the flaming gasbag part beneath her blade was the tactile equivalent of the symphony for the red-skinned swordswoman. She danced easily away from the resulting spurt of flame, enjoying the way the heat washed over her body. Something metal dropped from where she’d cut, but she didn’t get a good look at it before it dropped to the ground out of sight, concealed by the fire demon’s pitiful thrashing. “That’s another piece, Sparky!” She taunted the demon with a smug grin, hefting her blade for another pass. “How many do you have left in you, I wonder?” She’d already grabbed the shuriken that had fallen out first, stowing it with practiced ease.

Then the bag deflated, a rush of flame taking a roughly bipedal form as it flew skyward. Still in the air, Madoka cursed as a wave of hellfire swept through the air at her, too wide to avoid and too dense to shrug off. “Tch. If that’s how you want it, jerk,” she hissed, shielding her body with her blade. Kyoshinken began to vibrate wildly, emitting a piercing banshee scream as its rapid movement compacted the air in front of it. She crashed into the wall of flame, sheltering behind her momentary shield as she crashed back down to earth. Her landing threw up a column of dirt and debris, concealing her from view as flames licked the earth, sporadically igniting plants and abandoned festival stands. Madoka slung Kyoshinken over her shoulder as she walked unscathed out of the crater she’d made, sighing deeply and scowling as she took in the flaming carnage and the true form of the monster. Blue fire incarnate, head swinging back and forth as it tried to draw a bead on its attackers. “You’re determined to be an asshole, aren’t you Sparks?”

The battlefield seemed to stand still after the monster unleashed its true form, but Madoka just cocked an unimpressed eyebrow. "This was entertaining when I thought you were just the mob of the day, but you still think you've got a way out of this? Even if you turn the whole valley to ash, I wouldn't particularly care. It won't stop my from cutting you into so many pieces that you burn out for good. I cut the skies, asshole. You? You're a footnote." This time, when Madoka unleashed her blade, she didn't use the chain. The power of her slashes alone could split the skies, especially with the power of the Eight Gates. An invisible wave of divisive force cut the air, bisecting everything in the arc of her blade.

Damage: 190 * 1.15 (Wind Specialty) = 219 + 45 (Ranged Tai Mod/2) + 60 (Ranged Acc Mod/2) + 20 (Tai Weights III/2) + 40 (Warrior IV) + 15 (Martial Artist II/2) = 399 * 1.15 (Scorched) = 459 per strike

Chance to Hit: 60 (Base) + 15 (Dumpty Enlarged) = 97 (Acc Mod, Mist) = 172%

Cost: 230 - 40 (Tai Weights III) - 60 (Steadfast IV) = 130 Stamina

Effects: If hit, Dumpty is 'Deafened' for one turn [Sound via Thundering Auroch Style]. Dumpty only applies 30% of defense granted by items [Kyoshinken, High-Frequency Blade]. Response Phase Jutsu have +10% fail chance [Path of the Warlord].

Critical Range: 1 (Base) + 5 (Concentration) = 6

Note: Used Link Formation to make technique a Ranged Attack.

It seemed that releasing his true body had taken too much of a toll on the flaming sprite. He seethed with anger at the puny humans, teeth working savagely, but just...didn't do anything. So Madoka's timely strike with her saber caught the monster by surprise, and with a stagger 'SQUELCH!' the sword drove into the monster's eye. Even a being literally made of fire could not avoid a stab to the eye. Both strikes hammered trued, and the flaming behemoth staggered backwards.

"You monster! You meanie! You absolutely disgusting little gnat!"

Humpty seemed enraged, and his fiery hands tried to clutch at his eye, only to find it impossible to touch himself with hands made of fire. This seemed to enrage the spirit even more, and he began to swell. He kept growing, getting bigger and bigger. Eventually, his size seemed impossibly massiv,e his rage stoking his own fire. He swelled like....well...like a balloon.

"I will...I will...I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL!"

At the crescendo of that wail, Humpty's body exploded into fire, candy, and a whole lot more. The proverbial balloon popped with the sound (and lights) of eerie fireworks. The candy rained down on the ninja as the wisps of fire that made up his body vanished into the moonlight. It would seem that Madoka and pals had saved the day.

iYHIh79.png?1

Congratulations! Madoka's Final Attack Landed with enough force to kill Humpty! (Having missed my own deadline, I decided he'd get hit by everything this round, and that was more than enough!) Your team is victorious!

@Peregine @tygerin @Seigen

EACH NINJA in your team receives the following rewards for your heroic actions, in addition to the previously discovered rewards:

4 Milk Chocolate Shuriken
-A four pronged piece of chocolate shaped to look like a Shuriken. A classic treat for children dressed as ninjas.
Effect: Gain 1 JP when this candy is eaten.
Value: $25

2 Pumpkin Juice
-A small wax bottle containing a sweet orange liquid. Even the small amount in the bottle packs a punch of flavor including cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin and just a little hint of something spicy.
Effect: This candy may be eaten when your character receives experience. When you eat this candy, you gain +100 EXP. Only one "Pumpkin Juice" may be eaten per thread.

Value: $50

2 Black Licorice Bats
-Only psychopaths like this candy. The unforgettable flavor of the licorice root in the shape of a hairy bat, complete with little strands that get caught in your teeth. Makes a squeaking sound when you eat it.
Effect: When this candy is eaten, you may increase the word-count of the post that this candy was consumed in by +200 Words. Eating multiple 'Black Licorice Bats' may stack this effect to a maximum of +400 words.
Value: $50

2 Dark Chocolate Kunai
Effect: When this candy is consumed, the user's Chakra and Stamina Regeneration is doubled for 1 turn. Only 1 of this type of item may be used per battle.
Description: A candy made of rich dark chocolate that melts in your mouth the instant it touches your tongue. The luscious creamy texture is complimented by a slightly sweet taste, but ends with a satisfying, slightly bitter, finish. Oh, and it's shaped like a Kunai, cause ninjas.

iYHIh79.png?1

And, since Madoka's two sword strikes were with bladed weapons, you get two potential rolls for new treasures!

Roll 1: 11 [No Goodies]
Roll 2: 7! [A Ninja Tool is Found!]

Ninja Tool Roll: 10! [A WEAPON is Found! Sweet! Loot!]

One-Handed Warhammer
Size: Medium
Level: 10
Attributes: Parry [Rank 1]
Description: In the folds of Humpty's discarded "skin" there was an inexplicable Warhammer, likely left behind from someone the monster had eaten. The hammer has a massive square face and a sharp spike protruding from the back of it, made in some kind of highly polished ivory or bone. A series of lightly pulsing runes are carved along its hilt, but they are so old and in a language so foreign nobody can read what they mean.

REMEMBER: Only one ninja may claim the items won during the battle, but you may now freely trade them among yourselves IC to determine who gets what. ALL of you receive the victory rewards, but you may also trade those with each other IC in this thread.

Madoka brushed her hair away from her eyes as the monstrous behemoth swelled and burst, showering the torched festival grounds with candy and bright lights. It might have been pretty, if the rest of the town hadn't been reduced to a hellscape of rioting flames. Well, you couldn't save everyone, and she'd gotten the confirmed kill on the monster. It wasn't the kind of festival she'd been expecting, but she wasn't exactly dissatisfied. The red tinge of her skin receded as the Gates shut down, returning her to her standard form. A wave of weariness hit her, but had long ago learned to expect and deal with the aftereffects of the lower Gates.

A flicker of white against the night sky caught her eye, and if her sidestep had been a moment slower the flying warhammer might have taken her head clean off. as it was though, the Chuunin flicked any residual liquid fire off her blade and sheathed it, hefting the blunt weapon's haft curiously. It was one of three treasures that had fallen from the monster, and she already had one. She deserve all of them, obviously, but some kind of reward was in order fir the other two who hadn't run like weaklings. If any of them wanted it, they'd have to ask her for it.

After all, without her blade to cut the treasures free, none of them would have anything. Fair was fair.

OOC: Madoka claims the One-Handed Warhammer, but is open to negotiation if anyone else wants it. She already has the Kite Shuriken, and the Caltrops are still on the ground.

It seemed like the other two ninja she'd fought with had either run off, or maybe they were incinerated by the monster's fire. She shrugged. More loot for her. She pocketed the caltrops that had fallen from the monster earlier, slinging the warhammer easily over her shoulder. Might as well get something out of this mess.

OOC: As a week has passed, I'm claiming the loot.
