Ryuu vs. Hinoko Round 1!

Hinoko walked into the practice arena with the sole intent on proving how awesome he was. He had heard a lot about a small town where Shinobi gathered to casually duke it out off the radar. So of course, he had to measure his own skill against others. Still, the arena didn't look like much, but that wasn't what mattered to him. He was just waiting for an opponent to go against.

There was only one person in the grand coliseum that was the arena aside from Hinoko. It was a young boy, perhaps of twelve or thirteen years of age. He had short, brown hair and only one good eye. The other was obscured by bandages. That one eye seemed to be intent on a book in his lap.

Eventually the boy looked up seeing Hinoko. He assumed the man was here for a fight. The dark haired newcomer didn't look particularly dangerous to Ryuu, but he had seen people who were particularly dangerous. "If you want to practice, we're going to start with Ninjutsu." He told the man, his voice sounding equal parts sullen and sarcastic.


The boy left the sword where it was as he approached the center of the arena.

Clones created during the user's Set-Up Phase may take part in any technique that requires the presence of physical clones during the Main Phase following their creation, but are destroyed during the Loss Phase. Shadow clones have 1 Health Point, with the rest of their statistics being equal to their creator's, divided by the number of clones created plus the creator [statistics/(x+1)] . 1 clone may be created by shinobi of Gennin rank, 4 by Chuunin, 7 by Jounin, and 14 by Sennin. This ratio is modified for ninja from Konohagakure to 2 by Gennin, 6 by Chuunin, 10 Jounin, and 18 by Sennin.
Description: Originally designed by the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, the Shadow Clone Technique has always been a part of Konohagakure. Years of steady usage has made the Shadow Clone Technique a common site on many a battlefield. Despite being a work-horse technique amongst shinobi, Kage Bunshin remains a versatile maneuver in many combat situations. Through means of the technique, the user is capable of quickly creating physical doppelgangers. The applications for these clones are numerous and every shinobi who learns Kage Bunshin No Jutsu seems to devise their own style with it. The clones themselves are much more fragile than the ninja that they imitate as they can be dispatched with little effort. History lends credence to the commonly held belief that the Shadow Clone Technique originated in the Land Of Fire some time before the creation of the first hidden villages. Since it's advent though, the technique has spread greatly and now shinobi of every denomination have been seen making use of the skill. Ninja hailing from Konohagakure No Sato still seem to be the most gifted with the use of shadow clones. Some say they have developed secret differences from the basic technique that allows them greater benefit.

Description: The Hanabi do not merely use the Firework element, but instead it is a part of their beings. When a Hanabi masters the Firework element their application of it lasts longer and is more effective than when other shinobi use it.
Effect: Attacks that have the [Firework] tag inflict two (2) turns of “Impaired Eyesight” and “Impaired Hearing” instead of one (1) turn on successful rolls. This does not stack, but may replace existing effects. “Impaired Hearing” and “Impaired Eyesight” inflicted by the [Firework] element effect may break duration caps.

Effects: This technique must be performed in the Set-Up Phase. In terms of chakra cost calculation ‘x’ is equal to the number of kunai created by this technique, and ‘x’ may never equal more than 4. Kunai created by this technique may be thrown in any turn following their creation as if they were a regular kunai owned by the user. Wooden kunai deal 4 damage per kunai. If thrown in the Main Phase following their creation, the user gains a +2% bonus to hit with each kunai. The user must possess the Mokuton bloodline.
Description: This technique is considered to be one of the most simplistic of the Senju clan’s mokuton techniques. By altering the cellular structure of their hands, the user is capable of growing a number of kunai in the palm of their hand. While these weapons are the exact scale of the average kunai, the wooden versions of the weapon are noticeably lighter than steel, and have not the cutting power. They do less of the damage that an average kunai would, but those Senju who have mastered the technique have devised ways of making the technique more suitable for battle.

After the fiery blast has subsided, the opponent is left with blistered flesh due to the intensity of the skill. Clash
Description: Since the dawn of war, shinobi of all villages, races and creeds have aspired to battle fellow rivals one-on-one in tests of strength. Before ninjutsu was created, these tests were forged by clashing blades, but as warfare grew more daring, so too did rival shinobi. To initiate a jutsu clash is to have utter confidence in one's personal strength, pitting your own raw power against that of another's. Although it was never considered to be the wisest of tactics, many of the greatest battles in shinobi history ended with a resounding clash that tore the earth asunder.
Effect: If an opponent would utilize a ninjutsu or taijutsu technique that deals damage, the user may use an offensive ninjutsu or taijutsu technique that also deals damage in their response phase to counter it. The user may apply any and all skills and modifiers that they would normally as though it were a typical attack. Compare the damage totals of each technique, and the one with the higher damage is 'successful'. If it is the opponent's technique that is successful, subtract the lowest damage from the highest damage and deal the difference to the user, as well as all effects tied to the technique. If the user is successful, they are not hit with the incoming attack, and the opponent must roll to dodge as though the user's technique was an ordinary attack. If they fail their roll, the suffer the difference in damage as well as the effects of the technique. 10% Base fail chance, and an additional 10% for each rank higher the opposing technique is in comparison to the user's. User must sacrifice their setup and main phase. Useable as many times per battle as ranks in this skill.

Effect: If this technique is used on a target that has been affected by the Prone status in the last two of their turns or currently has the Prone status, then this technique deals 20 more damage. Target also gains the Startled status effect for two turns. 
Description: Carefully collecting a hand of soil or terrain, the user gathers it in their palm and lightly blows upon it. Upon doing so, it then covers the target and suddenly coagulates all over them, as though squirming. With one final handseal, the hardening soil finally settles, only to violently shatter; impacting the target with shards of galvanized soil and terrain. Quite visually impressive, it is a perfect demonstration of a shinobi’s progression from Gennin to Chuunin rank.

Effect: When a Firework technique is used, the chance of inflicting a status effect from the Firework Element becomes: 1-8 results in one (1) turn of "Impaired Hearing", 6-13 results in one (1) turn of "Impaired Eyesight". A roll of 6, 7 or 8 results in both status effects being applied. In addition, the user may add +4 to The Colorful Soul Control Roll. This replaces Rank 1.

Firework Genius

Description: The Hanabi do not merely use the Firework element, but instead it is a part of their beings. When a Hanabi masters the Firework element their application of it lasts longer and is more effective than when other shinobi use it.
Effect: Attacks that have the [Firework] tag inflict two (2) turns of “Impaired Eyesight” and “Impaired Hearing” instead of one (1) turn on successful rolls. This does not stack, but may replace existing effects. “Impaired Hearing” and “Impaired Eyesight” inflicted by the [Firework] element effect may break duration caps.

Effect: This technique may only be used in the Response Phase. For the purposes of cost calculations ‘x’ is equal to the cost of an unresolved, non-genjutsu attack from a single source that targeted the user in a previous turn. Negate all damage and effects that would be caused by that attack. If the user’s speed is greater than the target’s speed, then the cost of this technique is considered to ‘.4x’ for both Chakra and Stamina. If the target's Speed is greater than the user's, this technique is considered to cost '.7x' for both Chakra and Stamina. When performing this technique, the user forfeits the Set-Up and Main Phase that turn. This technique may be used up to 2 times per battle.
Description: A basic shinobi technique taught to many ninja around the world, the Body Flicker technique gets its name from the telltale after image left behind by the user when the jutsu is performed. By flowing chakra into their legs, the user is able to move so rapidly as to be barely traceable by the human eye.
