This patch marks a huge change in how we will be running NA in the future. Please read on carefully as there are quite a few things that we will be explaining! Official 8.1.x Q&A thread Premium MembershipsAs many of you will recall, a few weeks ago we had an outage for approximately five days due to a massive error on the side of our hosting provider. Ninja Academy has until now been hosted on a shared hosting plan, meaning that we share our server and bandwidth for all of our databases with other customers. This has caused unexpected downages due to attacks on other websites, misuse of resources by shared hosting partners and most recently, the complete collapse of the web servers for the shared hosting. Because of this we have decided to change service providers and upgrade to a dedicated server. A dedicated server is a machine set for just our uses and will handle no other customers, meaning unexpected downtimes and outages will only happen if it is a direct result of our hosting software and databases. In order to save money we will be migrating the databases over first, which included the forum, wiki, die roller and techniques for the main site. For now we will be leaving the non databse driver content on shared hosting and testing as we go forward. As you might expect a dedicated server, even if just for database use, is much more expensive than the current plan. Given our our growth and the fact that due to the structure of our game we cannot delete older content, we have outgrown our current system and must move forward or face other system problem which in the worse case could result in total data corruption and loss (don't worry, we do backups so often, but losing a week or two of posts would still not be fun).All that said, in order to help alleviate the money to upgrade the hosting we are offering a new rewards system for donating to Ninja Academy. I would like to introduce you to Premium Memberships!- Premium MembershipPremium Memberships are our thank you for donating to Ninja Academy. They come in two forms, a monthly donation requirement that you may pick up or drop at any time, and a series of micro transactions that are one time donation rewards. Whichever you choose is up to you, and all money will go directly back into making Ninja Academy even better. All the information you need about any of the plans or transactions can be found on the above link, but if you have any questions please feel free to contact myself or any of the administrators or moderators! Underwater CombatDue to a demand from some members along with the upcoming Arrakis Tournament events, we have decided to create a new optional subset of rules for underwater combat. These rules take effect anytime one or all characters in a battle are submerged in any liquid (not only water). Please take note that the terrain "Deep Water" does not automatically guarentee that these rules will be used, as ninja can indeed walk on water.
