  1. Designer's Notes > Redesigned this effect to better match its name source! At max level, this has a rough cumulative CP value of 1132. The CP Value at each rank is: 60, 112, 285, 675. > Assuming perfect rolls, to burn through every technique selected by Cascade, it would take 10 turns. At max level, assuming 400 Chakra spent on similar Combinorial Tier elements, it would compare to: Dust- 1600 CP, Crystal- 400 CP, Rust- 480 CP, Plasma- 800(Maybe? Many assumptions here), and the others are a little hard to solve for. From these comparisons, we can see that Cascade's current form would place it below or equal to Dust in terms of raw CP value, and a bit above the others. I believe this to be fair for a few reasons: It has great flexibility in that you may choose which techniques you can trigger with Cascade, but its once-per-battle restriction more or less means that you are subtracting JP value from yourself over the course of a battle... and you don't get to use the triggered technique for free. This is now kind of a "burn bright, burn fast" sort of element. > I ended up pricing this at 1 more SP than comparable elements. Not sure if this is overcosting, undercosting, or... what. Just seemed right! Also worth noting that Blood is 2 SP, so you'd end up investing 7 SP to utilize this. > The currently resubmitted Blood Release is found here. Since it's a basic element, I wanted to play around with the idea of using it in combinatorials! The original, however, can be found here.
  2. Combinatorial; Cascade Effect: This character may use Cascade Element techniques. Whenever a character purchases this skill, they may select 3 Genin ranked Cascade techniques they possess whose cost is equal to .5x the Genin CP cap or less; each time they gain a new Ninja Rank, they may select 3 additional techniques that they possess whose rank is equal to their own and whose cost is equal to .5x their current rank's CP cap or less. When using a Cascade Element technique, this character declares a technique selected by this skill's effects and rolls a d100; on a roll of 50 or less, they may use the chosen technique in their following turn as a Free Action in its relevant phase. A Cascade elemental technique may only be used as a Free Action through this effect once per turn, and techniques used as a Free Action through Cascade's effects may not be used again for the duration of battle through any means; if an Offensive technique is used as a Free Action through Cascade's effects, it is responded to as if it were an additional strike possessed by any other Offensive Actions this character has taken in the same phase. This additional strike must be against a target of the primary attack, is considered a part of the attack it is added to, splits modifiers as a multi-strike attack would and is affected by any Response Phase jutsu that would affect the primary attack. Techniques selected by this skill may not produce secondary characters. In addition, the user may choose to apply the bonus from one of the Basic or Subtle Elements skills required to learn this element if they own it. Description: Developed as a haphazard attempt to dramatically increase one's own combat potential, the Cascade element is a unique blend of Lightning and Wind chakras with the user's base life force- typically using their blood as a physical medium. Cascade is an almost entirely internal process wherein the user treats their circulatory system as a storage unit for excess chakra, allowing them to create feedback loops of energy within their own body. After this energy has accumulated in sufficient amounts, the user will allow it to burst forth from their body either as raw energy(typically seen as crimson lightning) or commands it to release internally, giving them a brief but sometimes dramatic increase in combat potential. Cost: -3 Requirements: Subtle Elements; Wind & Lightning, Blood Release
  3. Designer's Notes >Original Blood Release found here. >After some thought lately, I decided to go ahead and run with Tony's original suggestion of Blood techniques dealing bonus damage based on missing health rather than current health. While I originally had plans to work around this in a bloodline, the more that I thought about it... it just seemed counterintuitive that your techniques would get dramatically weaker as the battle persisted-- especially if you weren't stupidly tanky, a medic, or something like a Kaguya.
  4. Chiton | 血遁 | Blood Release Description: Chiton, or Blood Release, is a primordial and rather crude method of chakra manipulation, hailing from a time before mankind realized that they could give chakra a proper physical form. Though some clans have persisted and made this modality of combat their forte, the arts have primarily been lost to time; that does not mean, however, that an adventurous shinobi might not develop a skill in the Blood Manipulation arts on their own-- though, such that do so without the aid of a Kekkei Genkai often find that they can only manipulate their own blood within a certain radius of themselves. Chiton’s combat methods take many forms and are as flexible as the fluid they utilize. Common applications include forming weapons, shooting blood “bullets”, or reclaiming shed blood to increase one’s vitality over the course of a fight. Effect: Allows for the purchase of techniques with the [Blood] descriptor. [Blood] is considered a Basic Element and adheres to standard Element Rules. When using a [Blood] technique, the user will decrease the base cost of the technique in question by 20% chakra and/or stamina and instead pays half of that value in Health. When using a [Blood] technique, the user will calculate and reveal their current HP as a matter of a percentage. [Blood] element techniques deal an additional x% base damage, wherein x is equal to the user's current percentage of missing health. The effects of Blood Release may not stack with other skills that increase base damage as a percentage. -2
  5. Maybe -2 charges on successful 'Vindictive Strike'? The way that I'm looking at it is that while this can ramp up pretty high, keeping it at that level more or less requires you to forgo the ability to spend charges rather than traditional resources on techniques in the way that many Taijutsu styles do. You can still do that, but it keeps your chance to actually deliver one of these strikes fairly down-- coupling with the fact that the % diminishes each time it does successfully proc. Moreover, I also look at it versus the theme that its previous incarnation followed. That is, I could probably change this to simply buff the damage bonus of Enraged(Say by +4x%) and increase the damage taken(maybe by 5/10x%) on Enraged and that would be a more reliable boost with the facade of being more balanced. I say facade in this case because I already intend on building a defense-oriented character to minimize the damage taken by Enraged, and even with just my previous Kaguya, taking 150% additional damage would still only increase 10 damage taken to 25. In a vacuum such a thing appears more balanced, but when I look at it through the eyes of the character I intend to use this on... it begins to just feel like a cheesy way out, you know? Now, all that being said, I had an idea as I typed this. Perhaps with the high percentage of success, adding 'total damage' is a bit too much. Would it be better if a 'Vindictive Strike' instead added like... 30% additional base damage? It would require some recalculation of damage taken on the part of the defender, but I don't think it would be much more than calculating a crit or Vindictive Strike in its current form.
  6. Changed it to 1 charge generated on hit, 1 charge lost on Vidinctive Strike. Clobbered costs 1 charge. I kept the 10x% in the Vindictive Strike effect the same. I don't think this should lose all charges on a successful Vindictive Strike at one charge generated on hit- that's feels like heavy over-tuning. I am willing to throw in something there that says that someone with that style may not have any skills that passively boost their critical hit rate, though? In the interests of transparency, I wasn't planning on doing that personally anyways, but if you think that would even it out somehow.
  7. Yeah. If a non-oni tries to use it and doesn't have something active that increases their strength, the skill is basically locked. This is more intended to be like... an rp restriction than anything though, because the Ushitorafuku bloodline is passive and this restriction would not affect my character at all.
  8. Whoops! Added a line clarifying that x was the number of charges held, and changed '1.2x total damage' to instead read '1.2 times total damage'. Though the idea of scaling damage is neat, it's not what I was meaning to imply. Changed the Clobbered effect to cost 2y charges!
  9. Creator's Notes Resubmitting this because the original version interacted with Enraged in a way that no longer applies. I am unsure if I phrased the effect correctly or even if it will fly, but it's essentially just a 'mini-crit' effect. I adjusted the charge generation/loss mechanic to reflect what I think is a fair way to keep this in check-- namely that you'll never(or rarely) be able to land more than 3 Vindictive Strikes in a row. The clobbered addition seemed fine and remains the same. Original version found here.
  10. Jūbatsu-Ryū | 十罰流 | Way of Ten Punishments Description: Akin to its cousin, Gōken, Jūbatsu-Ryū is a “hard” martial art that centers around fast and powerful attacks chained together into devastating combos. However, the Jūbatsu-Ryū does not require outside augmentation from the Celestial Gates or excessive amounts of training, but rather relies entirely upon the inherent strength found within the Oni of the Taketori clan and their legendary battle rages. Not only does this style capitalize upon the adrenal amplification granted through a battle rage, but it also provides an instinctual direction to their unrivaled strength. Many techniques in the Jūbatsu-Ryū focus on dealing such extreme damage to their targets that they are unable to mount an effective counterattack. Effect: Allows for the accumulation of “Retribution” charges. One (1) Retribution Charge is gained whenever this character is struck by an attack. Retribution charges may be utilized in the following ways: ・ This character may spend x Retribution Charges in their Main Phase as a free action to add one (1) strike to any Offensive Action; this strike deals unmodified damage equal to 5x% of the Total Damage of an attack that targeted this character during this turn. ・ This character may spend y Retribution Charges during their Setup Phase as a standard action to grant 2y turns of Enraged; no more than two (2) Retribution Charges may be spent per turn in this way. ・ This character may perform a technique that requires the use of Retribution Charges. Requirements: Ushitorafuku | May be taught to characters with a means of increasing their natural strength for prolonged periods, including but not limited to: Sage Mode, Gates, and Chakra Enhanced Strength; Jūbatsu-Ryū's effects may only be applied while those methods are active. Cost: -1
  11. Please turn that last one into either just a "Hijutsu; Uchiha/Susano'o" kind of tag, or alter the name and description so that it's more personal to Shinji-- but I would honestly prefer the former, since it'd be a pretty solid core technique available to the clan as a whole. Not trying to come down on you or anything here, I just feel that if the clan jutsu are going to be straight ported up to Susano'o jutsu, they should probably just be available for everyone in the clan to use, you know?
  12. Not paid for adequately? What element combinations? I'm with Bob on this one, if we're looking at the absolute topend of light/dark, it's 13 SP just to get both of those elements to begin with. Then to use them both together, that's 17 total SP with this skill. That's more expensive than the Byakugan. Gravity + Dust? 10 to unlock them + 2.5(3) with this skill, and that's 13 SP total. Please provide some overpowered combination examples and what you feel would be an appropriate cost for them. I think that if you consider that and the SP required to get to this skill to begin with for those combinations, you'll still find that the sum cost is equal to that of a bloodline and perhaps only half as effective.
  13. Designer's Notes This is still WIP but is nearing completion. Number finalization and math will be posted here soon. Thanks!
  14. http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Fire_Release:_Great_Fire_Destruction This was a canon application of this technique. Thank you.
  15. It would be to your benefit to re-read the example used for coalescence techniques on the main site and apply the same principles here. Alternatively, I addressed that issue on the draft that I have been working on and have posted right above.
  16. Wasn't this a canon thing done by Madara? Why is it personal? Why are you taking [general clan technique] and combining it with [general clan summon] to make [personal technique] here when there is no actual personal variation happening-- it's just "this identical canon technique but bigger"? Stop. This is not NA 5.0.
  17. That may be useful when reviewing this tech, since this tech is... functionally identical as far as I can see? My suggestion is to hold off on this until mechanics for Kamui get figured out and play to whatever advantages that technique series offers, but I am not invested here or there on how this particular variation pans out.
  18. Beep beep, I'm glad I stopped in to check on things when I did, because... ... what? Why is this a personal technique? This is canon. On top of that, I feel like it kind of misses the mark for the "big bad damage" signature technique that most Susano'os have. This was my draft of the technique that I've been tinkering with: Yasaka no Magatama | 八坂ノ勾玉 | Eight Slopes Curved Jewel Type: Ninjutsu [ Hijutsu: Susanoo | Dōjutsu; Sharingan | Coalescence ] Rank: Jōnin Cost: 255 Chakra Damage: 480 / x Effect: [2; Yasaka no Magatama] This technique may not be used without its coalescence condition being met, unless the user is a Susanoo Summon and pays double the Chakra required to perform this technique. This technique may be purchased by a character possessing the Susanoo Unleashing skill. For the purposes of calculating this technique's damage X is equal to a number of strikes declared at the time of use, never exceeding four (4). When performing this technique, the user may apply their summoner's Ninjutsu modifier to Yasaka no Magatama's damage; if they do so, their summoner may take no action during their next Main Phase. This technique has an additional 30% chance to critically strike. Yasaka no Magatama receives statistical modifiers from Ninjutsu and Accuracy at a ratio of 40:5.
  19. Heya everyone! Thanks for the well wishes, and I'm starting to feel a bit better-- especially as I'm learning that I'm not the only one at work who got pushed to the absolute limits of their patience. I've been trying to get a meeting together to get all of the people involved in place so we can get it figured out, but we've just been... like, hilariously busy. I alone finished 9 computers start to finish this week and worked on many more, but even when I left work Saturday morning, we still had 13 left to be worked on. It's just been friggin' nuts. I'm going to try my damndest to get caught up on everything this week, but I might need to get myself a daily planner or something because god damn is it hard to keep track of doing things at a whim/for fun when you're busy.
  20. Heya Everyone, sorry that I've been gone a bit lately. I've had some fairly rough personal things happening over the last two weeks, only to be peaked recently by sudden and incredibly stupid changes made at work. It had just kind of been keeping me on edge and unable to properly relax, but last night it made me sick-- real sick. I could rant about the dumb as fuck shit that I came in to, and how my ability to perform my functions at work have now been thoroughly crippled because of an unwillingness to adapt to new standards... but I won't. Come daytime, I found out that my Blood Pressure had spiked well into hypertension ranges, and last night's debacle had caused it to elevate even within those ranges. Frankly, I'm probably a little fortunate that I didn't have a stroke or something about it. So, I'm going to be taking it easy for a little bit. NA hasn't been all that stressful itself lately, but a few very specific things have added to it. I will continue to get my RP posts up where I can, just... slowly. I'm already very late on my tournament post, so I will not be surprised nor upset if I am DQ'd from this round. In order to avoid some of the specific things about NA that had been adding to my stress/anxiety levels, I've actually just made a whole secondary Discord account. I will provide a few of you with it a bit later, otherwise any NA contact that you need to make with me should be on the site itself. Thanks for understanding!
  21. In appropriate fashion for any self-respecting Uchiha in her station, Saki had simply watched as Akio had fought his way through Uchiha after Uchiha, besting each one in turn as though they were civilians caught in the line of fire. Her eyes watched him with the malevolent mixture of crimson and black that constituted her Mangekyo Sharingan- a mark of her leadership within her clan. His statements were haughty, and they brought a smile to her face. She had heard rumors of this boy believing that her clan was responsible for the elimination of his own… which was a reality that she wished had been the case. If all the Otsutsuki were as potent as Akio, the Uchiha would have been forced to either rise to greater heights or fall to the wayside. What was life without those challenges, after all? Saki lifted herself from her chair at the head of the clan-hall and took a few slow steps toward Akio, waving aside the remaining guardsmen posted by her clan. She formed a single hand-seal and silently willed a small pot of sand and ash to rise to her body, shielding her in a protective barrier of the same substance. “You ramble about weakness in my clan, and yet they remain. The Otsutsuki may have been strong, but they are no more… and it should be remembered that there are exceptional people even to be found in the refuse. Seeing to the end of your people was the correct decision, because it has painted such a lovely image here for me.
