Fear tickled the girls spine, a cold, pulsating chill that flowed deep into the pit of her soul. The soft wind seemed to encourage her, gently pushing her forward and making her croppy, snowflake hued hair flutter across her forget-me-not eyes. Azure gaze slowly came to rest on the swirling water below, hungry lashing out and covering her in a salt rich spray. Mai, as the child was affectionately known slowly let go of the branch she clung so desperately to, letting her hands fall to rest at her sides she stepped into the nothingness that quickly plummeted her downwards. The ivory haired girl felt her innards rise up as she fell, that sickening feeling of weightlessness almost pleasurable before she slipped into the icy liquid, fingertips first then her slender figure followed suit. Silence enveloped her as she dove into the blue depths, the absence of sound was wonderful in a world that never seemed to sleep and Mai adored it's loving embrace.

A few moments passed before the girl emerged from the rolling waves, her silky locks clinging to her neck as she swam to the shallows. Standing slowly, so the frosty liquid only captured her lower physic the girl revealed her milky hued skin, covering her feminine curves was a white bikini decorated with baby blue flowers and around her slim neck she wore a turquoise pendant, no doubt an expensive family air loom of some sort.

A tall, masculine figure walked slowly under the sparkling blanket of stars, his short, choppy, dark hair ruffling slightly in the wind. Haku had no real purpose to be walking about at night, only to feel the cool air tickling his skin and to breathe in the forest smells. Without realising it he walked towards the pond he so often went to during the day, a place only reachable by one area because it was surrounded by towering boulders and where the fountain of spring water ran down the rocks it was too slippery for human hands and feet. Haku walked through the small opening between stone, the grass gently brushing his bare feet.

He froze.

Before him, a beautiful figure stood half out of the water, her delicate, starlight hair softly reflecting the moon's shine. He stood there for only a second, his astonishing leaf-green eyes studying her before he started walking towards her with his usual creepy smile on his lips.

Mia let her gaze glide towards the star speckled heavens, smeared with creamy patches of fog that desperately tried to distil the moons illucent beauty. A soft curve twinkled upon her plush lips as she felt the drops from her hair trickle down her neck and stomach, each was a soothing ribbon of icy refreshment.

Her attention was suddenly stolen as she heard the faint echo of pebbles tumbling into the shallows, dark lashes fluttering open to reveal startled aquatic eyes, a delicate gasp slipping her petite mouth.

"Oh... I'm sorry, I didn't think anyone else would be here" Mia whispered, a light blush tinting her blended skin of milk and cream. Raising a wrist to lay in front of her chest she glanced down for a moment, feeling a little uncomfortable about the boys charming grin.

Haku smiled even more, though it was almost creepy.

"It seems we share something in common", Haku replied, his rich creamy voice had the hint of an accent, though he had never travelled very far in his life.

He glanced at Mia for a second before walking to the edge of the pool close by to where she stood and stripping down to his boxer shorts. He had a strong build, and a slight tan. When he'd discarded his long coat, t-shirt and jeans Haku slipped into the icy water, the coolness spreading through him in a calm, relaxing way.

Mia bit her lip as the boy began to undress, pulling her ice blue eyes away from his torso. A fierce gust of wind reminded her how cold it truly was and she slipped back into the serene liquid, the water slowly swallowing her physic, leaving only her exotic eyes and cap of silken ivory hair above the surface.

Her legs moved gracefully within the ponds soothing depths, keeping the girl from it's hungry and unforgiving grasp of eternal slumber.

Haku took a deep breath, and dove under the surface causing no splash just a gentle ripple. He opened his eyes, ignoring their protest. Tiny bubbles of air left his lips as he smiled under the blanket of water. He had been unbale to see much of this younge woman from where he had stood above the pond for the moon been reflecting its glow on the ripples made from her slender body. Now, in the clear liquid her could see the lower half and more, because she had descended further in the depths.

Haku's handsom face rose above the waters surface, a picture of polite innosence across his features.

"How long have you known about my pond between the rocks?" Haku asked to the unknown female, his rich husky voice soft, yet deadly in the night.

The girl raised herself slightly out of the icy water, a small curve on her pale lips setting her fragile beauty ablaze like wildfire.

"Tonight, my Hotaru showed me the way" She replied, laughing softly as the phantom fireflies danced around her, their ghostly colours sending rainbows cascading across the shore.

"It's a beautiful place..." The girl whispered, glancing towards the glittering waterfall that was imprisoned by a cell of rock.

Haku smiled, his eyes lit by the light of her jutsu.

"Yet, you seem to have come prepared for swimming." Haku said, laughing a little. "My name is Haku. May I know yours?"

He drifted slowly to lean against a rock close to the gentle waterfall which only made trickling sounds as it fell down to the pond.

Mia returned the smile, hers holding a ribbon of play and interest.

"Yes, that is true. There is a stream not far from here... But I like this better" She said, pulling herself up onto a moss enveloped boulder and dangling her toes in the rippling water.

Sweeping her ivory locks off her neck she turned to look at him, grateful her phantom companions gifted her the light to pick out his icy features.

"I'm Mia" The girl replied simply.

A gentle breaze blew through the trees, making swishing sounds and causing Haku's midnight hair to ruffle and dry.

"Why hello Mia. This is my little hide away, and your welcome to come around as often as you want. " Haku smiled in his dodgy and cheeky way. "Haven't seen you around these parts before. Am I just ignorant or are you new?"

Posted

The girl laughed again, amiring his irritable charm.

"Yes, my family and I used to live in the mountains... Konoha is very different from what I expected" She said quietly, looking away.

The fragile breeze playfully teased Mia's snowflake hair, drying it so it shined in the cold, blue moonlight.

Haku moved slowly, and gently towards Mia. I looked almost that he was just moving around, with no proper destination. He moved to sit close to the female, his legs just brushing her on purpose as he moved past.

His lean torso lay out of the water on the damp bank, his legs still emersed in the chilly water. Not a shiver escaped him as he swept his wet locks out of his eyes.

"Ah, how so?" Harku asked from the ground, his eyes closed from the moons shine.

Mia turned back, her hair fluttering in the swift motion. Holding back a tiny gasp as she realised how close Haku was she felt another rose-tinted blush stain her pale skin.

"Oh, it's just..." She began, sadness twinkling in her aquatic hued gaze. Recent memories of her home being stormed by the NCIA ran vividly through her mind, her mothers screams as they destroyed all they held close and dear. Somehow, the NCIA had found out about her families allegiance to the Konohagakura no sato resistance, and decided to remind them of the tension and rage each alliance felt for one another.

"People here aren't so friendly" Mia finished, doing her best to smile. Also, being new to the village Mia hadn't met anyone her age, except Haku of course.

Posted

Haku sensed the sadness in Mia's tone, and his green eyes opened in the dim light.

"You just haven't met the nice ones." Haku said. "But I see what you mean."

He glanced at Mia before continuing; he wasn't sure how much he trusted her. She could one of the NCIA for all he knew.

"I can't remember my family, or anyone else for that matter because of the NCIA." His voice was soft, low and almost like a whisper. That was all he'd say about his past to Mia.

Mia's ice-blue eyes widened before a small, understanding smile crept upon the curve of her lips. Reaching out, so only her fingertips brushed his damp shoulder she spoke as carefully as she could.

"I'm sorry, that must be hard". Tucking a strange of snow white hair behind her ears she lent back, a sigh slipping from her vocals and forming a small cloud of mist in the bitter night air.

Posted

Haku smiled at Mia's touch, and ifhe'd been able to blush he would have because he felt the understanding in her voice.

He stood suddenly, and walked towards his coat that lay discarded on the forest floor. Reaching into an outside pocket he pulled out a chocolate bar, still hard because of the chilly night. Haku walked back to where Mia lay on the moss and sat next to her, only a hands width away. He broke off a large piece and ate a chunk of it before offering Mia some as well with his hand outstretched.

Mia accepted the sweet, a grateful smile softening her features.

"Thank you Haku" She said, wrapping her arms around her knee's as she brought them up to her chest. She felt her near naked figure shiver from the fog kissed coldness and glanced back towards the streams of smoke the twirled their way into the blackened heavens, her guidance back towards Konoha.

"Do you think we should go?, it's getting late" Mia asked, glanced towards her newest companion. Something within the content of her mind dreaded returning home though, the sense of freedom had spellbound her and she knew her parents wouldn't mind if she stayed out, as she often did until the peaking hours of dawn.

Posted

"Perhaps." Harku said, smiling when she accepted his chocolate. He glanced towards her pale form, and realised how cold she probably was. He came here often, and was used to the cold temporatures of autumn. Standing once again he went to get his clothes and returned to drape the coat over her shoulders, the grin on his face ment he was half teasing her for being so cold.

Haku pulled his jeans back on before sitting down once more and pulled his t-shirt of his head.

With his toes in the water he said, "Why? Are you afriad of your parents worrying about you? Do you think they might wonder if you've met a stranger and gotten distracted?

Posted

Mia relaxed as she felt a large portion of her warmth return to her, Burying her smile and twinkling eyes into her arm before glancing towards Haku again.

"No, they wont mind... They know how much I love it out here" The girl promised, gently allowing her arms to slip gracefully into the boys coat. It was far to big for her delicate physic but she adored it's smooth texture. Trying not to dwell on the enticing scent of Haku's jacket she carefully slid off the rock. Tiny ripples flowed around her ankles as she stepped through the shallow water, making her way towards a beautiful water lily that stood out amongst a garden of weeds. Daintily plucking it from it's distasteful surroundings she turned to show the boy her prize and smiled sweetly, her perfect teeth shining against the slither of moon as well as her ivory hair and the creamy blossom.

Posted

Haku smiled as Mia returned with the lily. He gently took the water flower from her delicate fingers. He brushed her moon-bright hair from her face, touching her cheeks with his fingers as he did so. He raised his eye brows in a dodgy look as he tucked the lilly's stem behind her ear so that it added beauty to her feminine features.

"There. You're now a soft, delicate, pretty little lilly." Haku laughed, teasing her.

Posted

Mia felt her heart flutter in her bodice as Haku spoke to her in such an affectionate way. She poked her petite, pink tongue from her mouth in reply to the boys teases before reaching down and collecting her towel. Wrapping it tightly around her slim hips she stood and gracefully lept off the boulder. Turning around, her hair and camisole swaying in a synchronised motion with the gentle breeze.

She smiled up at Haku, her sweet and innocent features betrayed slightly by the mischief that danced in her azure vision.

Posted

Haku looked at Mia with suspision in his green eyes at her mischivous blue ones.

"What are you thinking?" He asked, smiling once more in his cheeky way. He stood and stretched, then shook his wet hair out vigerously sprinkling Mia with a tiny shower of droplets.

For a moment the moon's rays were covered by cloud, and the only light by which they could see each other was that of Mia's hotaru. The light made their eyes twinkle, and if they had looked deep enough you would be able to see the type of person in each of their gazes.

Posted

Mia cocked her head slightly, touching the delicate petals of the blossom in her hair. Her long lashes fluttered slowly over her moonchip eyes, now it was her turn to feel suspicion.

"Haku, do you live all by yourself?" She asked, a glimmer of pity in her angelic vocals. It was true, her family had been through much pain and strife, but she could never compare herself to another who had not a loved one in his existence. Mia glanced down, her veil of dark lashes hiding the guilt in her sight, reminding herself not to feel sorrow when she still had those who were most precious to her.

Posted

Haku laughed into the night, surprising Mia.

"I wish." He chuckled in his deep voice. "No. I live in the church, funnily enough. The Priest lets me live in one of the rooms on the floors above the cathedral."

He smiled, as if not knowing his past was nothing big to him.

"It's his pride and joy, I'm sure he's in love with it. Do you want to see it?" Haku asked, struck by the idea. "You probably havn't seen it yet, seeing you're such a noob here. And I could show you around the city, if you'd like"

Posted

Mia pouted half heartedly at being called a noob, but her twinkling eyes spoke otherwise.

"Sure.." She answered, smiling sweetly at the boys suggestion then realised she hadn't smiled so much since moving to Konohagakure no sato. Shaking her delicate feet free of dew drops she stepped onto the moist bank and pulled her buckskin bag across her shoulder.
