Desumasuku

(Eternal Sleep)

Apart, we are formidable. Together, we are unstoppable.

Desumasuku, [or colloquially], D.E.A.T.H, is a facet of Kirigakure no Sato that is both new and old. It is like most things which support the water and are supported by the water, and moves with the tides [of time], vanishing and coming back with full visibility. It's culture is largely the culture of the old village, the village of bloody mist. Brutal as it's nickname, it is something that is to be watched when near you, something which should be important and ultimately feared. It is something like it's namesake, in that no one seems to be untouchable by it. All Hail Sei Ryu-sama, Juudaime Mizukage, Azure Dragon of the East! -Tekashi Aoi

To properly understand an organization like D.E.A.T.H you have to understand them as they understand themselves, and as others understand them. No man speaks absolute truth, so to find it you must hear more than one man. The following is a piece of propaganda issued out by D.E.A.T.H, both during the war and during the current times. Please remember, you should take this as all things, at face value and not as absolute truth.

Shouts of Desumasuku --

Man is a creation of desire, not a creation of need.

Tell me a story of allegiance more magnificent than that of a flawless bond between the most loyal of men. Tell me a story of transformation more inexcusable of those very same men turning their back to the man who made them, and condemning him to a life of eternal hell, no pint of remorse, no tears of regret, just absolute betrayal. It is a story of birth, rebirth, and death in its rawest form and one these lands will never forget. So tell me, does this story become a creation of need or desire?

Reality was; it began a desire. The man known as Sei Ryu-sama, one of the greatest masterminds to ever cross this existence had put together a brotherhood of men who devoted their lives to the protection of their homeland; a shield to the people. It was a plan that could not fail as simple as it was, because the men who formed it were those that he could entrust his life too and with no hesitation. It was trust that built the foundation of this shield, which outlined its purpose and continued existence, but at the same time, it was trust that made this man foolish. The desire became something more to those that he entrusted with power, and that desire grew passionately until tipped out of control. As wealth, prosperity and peace had overwhelmed the beautiful village of Mist; the men who had brought that to fruition became wrought with greed. The plot was precise, quick and left no time for the brilliant Mizukage to pick up on its loose trail, and therefore, as if the day after success, Sei Ryu-sama was captured within the confines of magic and might; punished to a life of eternal servitude to the God of nothingness; a void that held no life.

The disappearance of their Great Leader had torn the village into pieces; civil action was taken into place and a new disorder flew out of hand of the new rule. It was here, where the desire became a need. The need for their beloved leader, the need for the ideal instrument of justice; Desumasuku was the answer. However; the invasion swept in too fast, it was as if the succeeding incursion was conspired with the disappearance of Sei Ryu-sama. Coincidence or fate had placed Kirigakure no Sato into a world not of their own. Those men who remained dedicated and faithful to the leader of past was forced into hiding or killed in the defense of their noble lands. Their blood would not be spilled in vain. A new hope is whispered on the winds with hope, a fresh start buried beneath the maladroit watch of the powerful foe; the creation of desire and the creation of need had at last united, Desumasuku will rise once more.

((OOC; The before quoted material was created by

Exodus in his previous (unfinished) port of D.E.A.T.H While I changed it's header slightly, and added -sama to Sei Ryu's name in the instances where it appeared, all credit for the quoted portion goes to Exodus. It is out of respect for him that I did not edit his prose, despite my editor trigger fingers moving to do so.))

In the time since the days of Momochi Zabusa and of Hoshigaki Kisame, of that murderous and brilliant generation of shinobi which were spawned in the mists of Kirigakure no Sato, the Country of Water and the Land of Mist has moved into a stance and an attitude of larger piece, always wary of possible enemies, but calm like water can be when unprovoked.

The clans which those bloody and unforgettable days nearly wiped out slowly filtered back into their home land, slowly began to rebuild and to build useful assets to it, valued assets, protected assets. They were protected, they were loved, they were valued as noble and treated above the common man within the land, above common shinobi-nin whom had no chance in the baseline of their genetics.

But the majority is not the rule, and people within the village still stuck into the old ways in private, still glared in silence at those whom came from the famous clans which had helped form the village. There were even some who whispered that the old traditions of one-on-one [sometimes to the death] during the gennin exams should be reinstated. They whispered that if Kirigakure coddled it's children, those children would not support it, would not have the cool clarity that the element they valued so much, that would not value it.

This background culture, brushing against the edge of the not-so-bloody mist [and dropping specks in places], lived on from the time of the abolishment of the old ways and move towards more peaceful ways, up until the time of the Juudaime Mizukage-sama [sei Ryu]'s arrival upon the scene of the upper echelon's of Kirigakure no Sato's ninja ranks. With the brilliance he continued to display, the subtle brutality of his character could be ignored, his brutal teachings, his movements towards gathering these droplets of blood on the edge of mist into a more palatable and cohesive entity. Though the exact time period and methods he used are still debated, he formed the organization before becoming Mizukage, and it was a grand tool of him, rivaling ANBU, and even the long ago ROOT, of Konoha.

It was -feared- in the country and at times, beyond. A shield to it's people, but not impenetrable by a flank of spears or a great lance. D.E.A.T.H was perfectly prepared for assault upon Kirigakure no Sato from outside of the village, or from shinobi-nin outside of the organization, but it had no foresight into what would come.

Yukishiro Endo-Sama, the general (ゼネコン Nezumi Zenekon) of D.E.A.T.H's (ギルド Girudo no Hantā) better known as the Hidden Mist Hunters, [as appointed by Sei Ryu-Sama], betrayed the Azure Dragon of the East. He found Sei Ryu-sama to be weak, to have grown too full of himself and to keep a firm eye and true care of and for the village and country. So in a fell swoop, he banded together with a group of Elite members of D.E.A.T.H, five of the seven いちい Nezumi Kanchou (Captains), and their subordinates. In a short and mostly bloodless coup, Sei Ryu was dethroned. The likes of Yukishiro Endo-Sama, Kitopi Sashi [the slim], Tsuyumi Misane, Goro-goro Gororo and Takasugi Kogoro [A known master of swords and a rumored member of the Seven Shinobi Swordsmen], had brought down the Azure Dragon of the East, and put in his place Yukishiro Endo-sama, whom would take the rank [for a short time] of Juuichi Mizukage.

In another time, and another situation, Yukishiro Endo-sama may have continued a long and beautiful reign as Mizukage. But the storm of war swept over the country, and he was killed in battle with the invading forces of Kumogakure no Sato and the Hachidaime Raikage. In the same battle, it is rumored that most of his fellow coup d'ate plotters fell for their mother country, as well.

With it's officers and many of it's regiments apparently in shambles, D.E.A.T.H fell into obscurity and secrecy once again, obscured as many of the true followers of mist did. In the three years of occupation and the institution of the NCIA, D.E.A.T.H was still very much alive and very much active within Kirigakure no Sato. Much of the core of the original Resistance within the village itself were members of D.E.A.T.H, and many cells of resistance fighters trained outside of the village were formed and trained by members and agents of Desumasuku or shinobi-nin whom were tied to it.

Numerous assassinations of important Mizu no Kuni NCIA agents were dealt by D.E.A.T.H, and arms and supplies were buoyed to the resistance by D.E.A.T.H, and during this time, the organization learned very well of it's limits and learned that working in secretive cells without all members knowing of the leader above their leader or the other cells within the village might be highly effective, so long as the organization kept and eye to make sure friendly fire situations were kept to a minimum.

While not openly rearing their heads in full situations yet, there have been whispers that D.E.A.T.H is not slumbering in it's namesake.

Ranks within Desumasuku

"No organization can be without some form of order, some form of ranks. Without ranks it can not have command, and without command it can not have character of existence, it cannot sustain itself." - The novel; Pretense of Order

Desumasuku, for all of the shadowy ties and bodies it holds, is not in the insecure grasp of chaos. It dances along the fence of chaos and order, but it's feet spend more time placed upon the stakes in order's yard. It relies on order, on rank, on file. Up and until it's illustrious leader [and typically unknown] leader, for every man or woman of one rank, there is another, to support the will of the head, and to support the islands of Mizu no Kuni.

Like with it's history and our basic dossier upon Desumasuku (DEATH), we will include both their own words on their matter, siphoned from one of their mid-Kumo war initiate manuals, and we will include information gathered from various sources, including ex-members, observers, and others.

In the following, you will see the quote from the D.E.A.T.H initiate manual, as we mentioned above.

Ranks --

There are no ranks in the Desumasuku Empire in the modern sense of a hierarchy of titles, although the army is organized into a hierarchical command of Resistance champions; The organization of the Desumasuku army is built upon a premise of the three illustrious Guilds. The ranks or classifications that are endowed to a member are reflective of their overall quality of character. Once this is established the member will be classified into a Guild of choice; be it, the hunters, the medical squadron, or even the Legendary Seven Swordsman. With each Guild comes a selection of divisions in which reflect the type of missions you will be doing on a constant basis and even somewhat reflects the profession you shall be enrolled within. If elected, another Guild can be produced to correspond with more diverse characters but at the moment, the rule of three will remain instated.

The broad-spectrum of how this works is this; The specific guild of men and women will be led by a Zenekon (General). The Nezumi Zenekon will compose these companies and will also by led by a chosen higher-up, which in this case would be the Council of Seven. Each council member will control a section of each Guild and will reverse roles whenever necessary. The largest organic unit is more than likely to fall under the direct obedience of these council members and will thoroughly move wind with each instruction. In addition; this hierarchical complex remains the most constructive development for the Resistance and can even subject to change whence necessary, however this is the coordination of survival.

The QuarterMasters

新入り Shin'iri

(Initiate)

Varies from village to village; but, at least twenty initiates are allowed in the Desumasuku Empire. These men and women go through a series of body, mind, and chakra measuring tests which prove their worth to the organization. A great percentage of all Initiates fail these tests from death, exhaustion or just flat-out quitting. Initiates receive blanks masks, katanas, and armor during their second week of testing; but, these, despite looking cool, have no peculiar properties.

メンバ Nezumi Menba

(Cadet)

These are the men and women who have passed the Initiate Assessments. The Cadets of Desumasuku are tested on a myriad of subjects almost daily, and are trained to be the best of the best. Once seen fit, the Cadets who pass (survive) are placed in units and or promoted to a wide range of Village superiorities. Many say that Cadets have it easiest, which indeed; they are very, very wrong.

ネズミ Nezumi Teisei

(Junior Lieutenant)

Those who are placed in this class obtain their specialized equipment and get to pick their weapon of choice. Those who do not pick a particular weapon are given the standard Katana. Most often chosen weapons include; Tonfa, Hook Sword(s), Kukri(s), and even Daggers. The Nezumi Teisei participates in missions that require travels amongst the continent, and have salaries equal to that of a Jounin. These warriors form the bulk of the Desumasuku forces and are broken into different classes and specialties.

しょうせい Nezumi Shousei

(Lieutenant Commander)

A sect of Warrior Desumasuku affiliates who guards the village with their life. They are given heavier, stronger armor and cloaks (Either white or black – White represents a nobility or higher rank) which blend almost flawlessly against any background. They are also given pendants that are directly tied to the life-force of their Kage. If it glows red, the Kage is in trouble. Yellow, the Kage is in battle. Black, the Kage is dead. These guardians form an elite section of a Hidden Village's defense force – protecting their Kage and village gates along with key structures in the village. Sadly, the Genin Academies are not apart of their duties.

指揮官 Nezumi Shikikan

(Commander)

Commanders are the ones whom deal with the most paranormal of missions ranging from High-classed B, all of A and low-classed S missions. They, almost frequently, venture into the outside world and hunt down its denizens. They receive no special weaponry; but, are given a slightly larger salary. Commander squads have the highest turnover rates and only the most elite keep their original members for longer than half a year. Commanders also, after a year or so of attaining their rank, are set in charge of training one or two groups of Cadet hopeful's who show proficiency in the such arts.

いちい Nezumi Kanchou

(Captain)

Those who attain the Captain rank are the best of the best in Desumasuku, which is saying something. They proctor the Initiate's tests and train Cadets almost year-round, going out on missions rarely. When they do happen to go out on missions, they include anywhere from high-level A to medium-ranked S class missions. Captains receive either black of white overcoats or trench coats (Black, Desumasuku Captain Second class, White, First class) which can, on command, increase their speed and render them invisible. Desumasuku captains have no other inexplicable weaponry aside from their coats, and usually fight with a personalized weapon. For their troubles, Death captains are given their own salary which almost dwarfs a Jounin's.

ゼネコン Nezumi Zenekon

(General)

The sole leader of the highly respected organization. A Desumasuku General, much like a Kage, leads their faction until they either select a new General or they die. Generals are the most selected to be Kages, and, like Kages, oversee the mountains of missions and paperwork the Desumasuku is given. Not a very prestigious job; but, they are the only ones in the institution who are paid such high salary. Occasionally, Generals take on high-leveled S class missions and complete them at a simple whim.

((OOC; As was true in the post before this one, the quoted portion of this post is the work of Exodus and all credit for it's contents go to him.))

As would be thought of in a three-legged house, D.E.A.T.H's foundations cannot be considered to be the same, or to work the same way. As most of the members of Desumasuku are no-nonsense shinobi-nin, so too are it's ranking systems. Ranks are not given out simply to be titles which goad a person's ego. The person is expected to pull the weight associated with the job, and the more pride one can take in it, the harder it truly is.

Initiates and Cadets are the foundation upon which the three guilds within this organization are built upon, and they were the most sizable group within the organization during the Kumo Imperial war. They are the simplest to explain, but we will give you the modern and current explanation of the ranks within D.E.A.T.H as far as we can tell.

新入り Shin'iri

(Initiate)

Shin'iri are the foundation of DEATH, as they always have been. Initiates are sometimes, -but rarely- volunteers. The majority of their ranks are the equivalent of gennin, and are chosen by those of officer rank, and then confronted with the choice and chance of joining D.E.A.T.H.

If they except this chance and choice, they are typically tested in the areas of the mental power, body health and strength, and chakra capabilities. They are given tests which are very hard and often times deadly to test their mettle and sheer will, as well as their benefit to the organization. Most Shin'iri rarely make it beyond the first week before quitting, dying, or something beyond that entirely.

Those who do, however, are brought into the organization, and given equipment from the armory, blank, uniform equipment. Blank masks, basic katanas, and basic armor. By the end of the war, there were rumored to be roughly 30 Shin'iri, or people marked to become Shin'iri.

メンバ Nezumi Menba

(Cadet)

Those Initiatives whom pass (see: Survive) the rigorous and dangerous tests of their first three weeks as junior members of DEATH, become cadets. These [Nezumi Menba], are not given easy times, however, tested daily on a myriad of subjects, and often harshly tested. Those cadets whom wish to pass beyond their rank are expected to be the best of the best of their rank, and to work hard at any and every task they're given.

No actual assassinations or true tasks are done by Nezumi Menba, and those whom pass beyond it's rank are finally placed into cells of D.E.A.T.H members, or given tasks. Cadets are the last non-guild rank within the organization.

({ooc; To be continued. More information coming soon! [/b]))[/b]
